The Table No26 in Argyll & Bute

The best meal I’ve ever eaten. Absolutely outstanding. We went here whilst on holiday to celebrate my partners birthday. We wanted a special meal and wow did we get it. The restaurant is beautiful and intimate and right in the heart of Oban so very easy to walk to. Sitting at the chefs table watching him cook and hearing about how he sourced ingredients and about the local area was lovely. The food was indescribable it was simply stunning. We are still talking about the venison and scallops a week later. If you want something a little bit different and special this is it. We will definitely be back.

That is the 5th time we are dining at the table at No. 26 and it never disappoints! The Valentine's dinner was fabulous The cooking points were perfect weither it was the scallops or the Chateaubriand, the seasoning and the sauces were both innovative and perfectly balanced. My better half who is very picky even mentionned that the Bearnaise sauce David prepared was by far the best he had in this country! Good wine selection and great service, we really enjoyed our Valentine's dinner at David & Brenda Chef's table!

The kitchen table at No 26 is a wonderful experience, with up to 8 guests being fed and entertained by David and his wife at the kitchen island. My wife and I were joined by one other couple, and treated to a culinary treat as chef David cooked and presented 8 wonderful dishes. David’s passion for the freshest local ingredients shone through in his charming anecdotes and in the quality of the food served. As a lover of seafood, I was treated to the best Oban can offer, however we were also presented with lovely duck and red deer dishes. For the first time ever my wife enjoyed raw oyster, as did the other couple present. All agreed that this would not be the last time! David and his wife were charming hosts and ensured we had a lovely evening.

We lived the laid back and relaxed ‘journey’ through the courses on offer. I believe the others at The Table had the same experience and satisfaction given the conversations we had throughout. We enjoyed the personal touches and being able to watch everything unfold. Chef was chatty but not intrusive.

We were celebrating my husband's birthday and had a lovely evening. The food was amazing, great ingredients with wonderful sauces which really complemented each dish. Great atmosphere, lovely staff. Lots of fun.

This is a special experience: the most personal service and a tasting menu that really shows off the best of local seafood and produce. Bravo!

A little late with this review, apologies David! We dined here when on honeymoon back in July 2023, we were just discussing the best food experience we've had and this prompted me re finally writing the review. I believe we were one of the first guests, along with another couple and a lady from USA. David and his wife provided an absolutely faultless experience and we couldn't have wished for a better evening. Worth every penny. Wonderful menu, the best food we've tasted. We're likely moving from Essex to Scotland in July this year and Table No26 could easily be considered one of the reasons! Can't wait to dine with you again. Very best to you both, Nikki & Joel.

We had a marvellous evening visiting The Table at No 26 just before Christmas. From the minute we arrived, to a very warm welcome, until the minute we said our Goodbyes the unique, intimate, dining experience was second to none. Each and every course was masterfully prepared for us there in the kitchen by David our Head chef as well as with the assistance of his Chef Keith. They were incredible in not only expertly cooking for us but were entertaining us, answering all our questions as well as providing first class service throughout the whole evening. The dishes were all piping hot, served beautifully and the blends of flavours were absolutely delicious. I'd highly recommend the beautiful venue for an evening to remember.

What an amazing experience we had! From the moment we got there we felt relaxed and well looked after. The food was absolutely delicious-it was fascinating hearing all about what was on our plates, all the local produce and combinations of ingredients that David had chosen and then cooked in front of us. Get your table booked for 2024!

We were a group of four, there was another group of four there too, that was it. Sitting in the intimate dining room, it felt like you were somewhere special and secret. The chef David, prepares and serves each dish providing an explanation of each dish. Table 26 offers a unique dining experience. I would highly recommend the place for a special night out.

Fantastic evening - amazing food - David and his wife made us feel very welcome - it was just the two us and as we went to celebrate our anniversary it felt even more special. We hope to return with friends in the future.

I dined with a friend at the Table at number 26 on 4 December. Having dinner at Chef’s table experiences in other locations, I am happy to say this was one of the best I’ve ever had. Not only was the food, exceptional, but the cozy kitchen set up insured conviviality and conversation. David and his wife were a joy to talk with about all things, food and cooking. Do not miss an opportunity to enjoy this special experience!

What an absolute first class experience from start to finish. As a lover of all things fish I was in heaven with the menu , flavours, and presentation of the dishes. David and his partner Brenda really pulled out all the stops to make this a very special relaxed evening . Trying to pick a favourite dish is really difficult but if pressed the langoustine in tempura batter along with the oyster started the meal off and set the ball rolling for what was to come. If staying at No 26 or its sister hotel no 17 do yourself a favour and book.

Fantastic Evening - A hidden gem and I have nothing but praise for David and his wife Brenda. The food, the wine and ambience created was perfect and we loved the fact that every ingredient is locally sources. Worth every penny for such an exclusive experience of 6 around the chefs table.
