The Table in Thanet

Nightmare! Booked for my husbands birthday in mid May back in March. Travelled 60 miles and the restaurant is closed No advance notification at all. Truly disappointed

A DISASTROUS evening. Myself and my disabled partner arrived on time for our table but had to stand (with my partner on crutches!) waiting for 15-20 minutes while previous diners at "our" table finished their meal, paid their bill, and the table was cleared. Absolutely no urgency whatsoever! The place was ridiculously noisy and we had to shout at each other across the table to be heard. We could not get a G&T `as they'd just used their last tonic water. We ordered wine which, for the very limited choice and quality was overpriced. The white wine arrived barely chilled. It was so unpalatable that I asked for soda water to dilute it and make it reasonably drinkable. They didn't have soda water and I had to resort to a visit to Tesco to buy some. Food was OK, but not remarkable, and service was slow and rather "couldn't care less". The restaurant's website stated that a table for two was allocated an hour-and-a-half for their meal. An hour-and-THREEQUARTERS in we were still waiting for food. At that point we cancelled the rest of our order and decided to leave. I asked for the bill, which took an inordinately long time to arrive. I went to the counter to pay, as I was told to do and, in view of all the aforementioned very negative issues, asked for the 12.5% service charge to be removed. They REFUSED and offered to take off another item from the bill instead. The entire evening was a catalogue of disasters and I fail to understand quite why and how this very average establishment seems to have the reputation it does. I most certainly will not be returning. Finally, I would just like to say that I would not have written this review on Tripadvisor had it not been for the fact that I had previously written a similar review through the reservation agent and sent at lease two messages direct to the proprietor at the restaurant to highlight my complaints. Several weeks later I have not even had the courtesy of an acknowledgement. I think that is probably a good indication of the general overall standard of customer care associated with The Table!

We found out about The Table after we saw Joe on The Great British Menu and we had to visit. What to say about The Table. One word would be "Wow" in a positive way. This was a great 5* experience for us. The staff are pleasant, attentive and friendly and Joe (head chef and owner) produces a 5* quality food and service. We thought the food was going to be a typical Tapas style portion and ordered based on past Tapas experiences in areas of Spain. However, food we were served were much bigger than Tapas dishes we were use to, so we ordered far too much. That said, we were glad we did, as it was nice to taste so many great dishes that Joe produces. The Table also served a nice PUNK IPA non alcoholic beer, which was a great find, as we were driving. The Table is a small restaurant with limited seating and booking would be recommenced (we did). We very much enjoyed our evening and look forward to returning. Attached are some images to give you an idea of the dishes. However, we visited in the evening and the lighting inside was low, so taking a snap shot is never great in this type of lighting / setting. It gives you an idea of what to expect though! Definatley worth a trip out.

We were left for 35 minutes before being offered a drink, and another 15 before that appeared, when we placed our order. The first dish arrived 20 minutes later and was cold, so was sent back. The chicken Japanese chicken arrived which turned out to be wings, so very little chicken. At that point t we walked out. Absolutely terrible experience. Honestly, don’t bother.

Great food, great atmosphere and great service! The food is to die for (especially the bang bang cauliflower) and staff were lovely. Had been recommended by a friend and it was well worth the trip down. Would definitely eat again 👍🏻

Found The Table by chance and I am so glad we did. You have to book a table and see for yourself . The food is so good and the atsmophere was buzzy and welcoming. What a great spot by the sea. We will definitely be back very soon .

Sunday lunch was with my kids was soooo much fun. We may have stayed a little longer than planned. It’s the fault of the chefs churning out some mega flavoursome food that is so moreish. Lovely drinks options and the music is also on point. Get down here to Broadstairs and enjoy some of Joes nosh immediately if not sooner!

So lucky to have this as our local. Atmosphere is the best, cool but everyone made feel really welcome, a place for all. Food is mind-blowing. Bring all my visitors here!

Everyone knows that Chef Joe Hill is a visionary, so it only took one trip to The Table to turn me into a regular customer. The lunch deals are great value. But in truth The Table is the perfect haunt for a solo dinner, or an amazing place to celebrate a birthday or to take visiting friends and family. If you’re on your own, you can sit on the bar stools and feel like you’re part of the action. The atmosphere is fab and the food is colourful, quick, fresh and healthy. *Tip*: I was totally sold on the noodles until I had the rice bowl 🫶. If I could afford to, I’d eat there every night ✌️

Such great food. We ate the menu! Looked after my 6 year old like a princess and treated my teen like an adult. On point service for sure 👌🏻 Great vibe in the room. Everyone seemed happy. This is definitely up there for my top 5 chilled lunch spots. Thanks guys! Worth the trip from London 🙏

From the inviting aroma to the flavourful dishes, this restaurant impressed us at every turn. The vibrant vibes and welcoming staff added to the fantastic experience. A must-visit for exceptional food and good times!

Cold day and the way restaurant is set out means you suffer an icy blast every time someone opens the door. Service was OK, pleasant waiter served us quickly. Food was very average, we all had Ramen, 2 Belly Pork and 2 Fried Chicken. Noodles not very fresh, Broth tasted very processed. Chicken was disappointing, and pink!! we assumed it was OK to eat and had no repercussions. It was a bit like Kentucky Fried Chicken on Some Noodles with Soy Sauce and Chilli with a cold boiled egg. The Pork wasn't in the least bit crispy. Our expectations were very high due to other excellent reviews on here. Think I'll stick to the bigger chains in future. I'm told other menu items are much better and we'll probably give it another go

This is now a Korean style place not cheese and wine as per the description. If you are a foodie - come here! Joe is an incredibly talented and welcoming chef - the food is fabulous and the atmosphere relaxed. Had a few of the plates - all of which were stunning and served in an open plan setting - always like it when I can see the chef cooking! I’ll definitely be back. Thanks Joe!

On a hot late summer's day in beautiful Broadstairs, the warmth of the welcome when I arrived at The Table exceeded even the balmy temperatures outside. And despite the modest size of this establishment (a handful of tables, and a set of bar stools overlooking the compact kitchen) it serves up some big flavours! The bang-bang cauliflower rice bowl was a confident mix of just-the-right-level-of-spice cauliflower, complemented with enoki mushrooms and kim chee. The overnight marinated duck bao bun was also an explosion of flavour. And it was all served with a smile and at a surprisingly reasonable price. Next time you're on the Kentish Coast, do yourself a favour and forego the usual fish and chips to treat yourself to the inspired Asian flavours at The Table. You'll be glad you did!

Impromptu lunch and first time eating here. We both had vegan options and the flavours were absolutely amazing. Staff very friendly and made us feel welcome. Food arrived quickly and perfectly cooked. I have lived in Broadstairs for many years and this is probably the best food I've had in the town. We will definitely be back.

What can I say! Absolutely banging food and banging music! Staff and owner made me feel like I was at home, smiles quick service and some beautiful tasty food, it was finger licking good, I’ve eaten in some fantastic restaurants in my time , and I have a eye for detail and taste, what can I say it was a reel treat, absolutely ever dish was a banger , the deco and the little stickers which you see in the Resturant give it that urban feel, I recommend you sit on the high table to get that truly wonderful cooking experience. As for the music it’s on a different level, old new and some foot stomping treats as well, this guy knows his stuff. I would rate this properly the best Resturant in Broadsteds Kent, I live in Margate! Margate Resturant’s need to up there game and follow suit! I can’t wait to visit this little gem reel soon.
