Great little fish and chip restaurant. Great quality fish, well cooked chips, good prices and nice people.

Absolutely great place. The food is consistently good. The staff are friendly and very attentive. The prices are good too.

Food and service was ok. Was looking forward to a breakfast, but they stop serving them at 4pm, want a roast dinner, be there before 5pm. They'll still do a mixed grill, but that's rather expensive, and if they can do that then why not a breakfast?

The food was hot and very very tasty. Staff where also very friendly and helpful.

Food is a very hot and fresh and very friendly atmosphere. we drive over 200 miles to go here before we drive another 100 miles before the holidays, then on our way home, we call there again 😀

What a great, honest, down-to-earth place. Solid grub (though could do with more vegan options, please! 🙏🏻), lovely staff, wonderful spot in Birchington that the DFLs tend not to find.

Top quality fish and chip restaurant with take away or eat in options. We ate in and apart from the usual fish and chip shop staples the menu has lots of choice with other items. Spotlessly clean and friendly, efficient service made for an enjoyable afternoon meal.

Pop in before it got busy I had liver & bacon with mash potatoes and onions 🌰 my wife had cod and chips well worth the money would definitely go back.

We finally arrived at our hotel we booked just for the one night in The Hussar in Margate it was the night of the euro finals. We were hungry, so I quickly googled nearby restaurants, and the fishbone grill came up. I called them, and the lady was polite, told us they would stop cooking in 15 minutes, and explained where they were, we quickly got there, and we were so glad we did. We met Maria, very polite and friendly my wife had fishcakes and chips and I had bacon burger and chips oh my days the food was so good, we said we would be back in the morning for breakfast. Next morning as we said we went there and had breakfast we had their special which we took pictures of them but they tasted so good. We went on to clacton on sea where we stayed for 4 nights. Service and food at the fishbone grill that we drove back there to have lunch and had fish and chips with beans, and again, it was delicious this time we met Claire and Lynn the manageress and again very warm welcome although we live in Wales and it's over 5 hour drive we absolutely loved Clacton-on-Sea that we will stay there but definitely call in to the fishbone grill before we go to clacton on sea we can't thank you enough for your excellent service and food . Was treated by friends with me having Place fillet Chips and mushy peas. (Absolutely delicious) Prompt service considering how busy it was and they were operating with one team member down

Just finished my battered haddock. Only three stars because it looked lovely but the taste was a underwhelming. I think it has to do with the batter which was rather thin and lacking in flavour. If they can fix the batter everything will be great.

Best fish and chips I've had in a long time. Only down side was staff standing behind the service counter eating one with his fingers.

**returned here today after a while. Still great - portions good although thought my veg 2 meal was a little expensive for what it was. They're very accommodating, especially with kids.** My dad loves to come here weekly! They always make him feel very welcome when he's on his own. I've ordered the omelette, all day breakfast and cod and chips - they've all been great, big portions and tasty food.

Ordered senior Cod n chips but charged full cost. Maybe we dont look like seniors. Food and service was outstanding.

This place was a great find. Surprising really because it just looks like a fish and chip shop from the outside. There's a fair sized car park. The menu is extensive and they serve alcohol. Very fairly priced too. The food was freshly cooked - good and hot. I'll go back 🙂

Chips were nice but the fish was really dry. We had it as a takeaway. The service was quite quick and price was good. The atmosphere wasn't great

Had a takeaway justbefore closing. Staff were charming and cooked everything fresh for us. The cod and chips were exceptionally good at a very fair price. Would unreservedly recommend.

I come in here for coffee whilst my car is being valeted next door.

The vegetarian breakfast wasn't great - no veggie sausages which feels like a cop out in this day and age.

Nice looking place & clean. But unfortunately the fish & chips was pretty average. To me fish batter should be thick light and crispy not a sheet covering millimetres thin, the fish was nice but the batter let it down. Chips completely tasteless. Nothing like a good British fish & chips, yet to find it in Birchington. My husband can do better. So defeats the object of going out. Staff unfriendly, absolutely no welcome, their loss.

Food was terrible especially for a busy friday! saveloy was like a piece of leather could not eat it, chips dry and tasted of burnt oil, sausage in batter soggy and chewy, will not return, waste of money

This the third time we have been and its the last time. While the food was hot the chips had hardly any colour to them. Considering it's a fish and chips shop you would think they would know how to serve chips. Everything is just about ok. Nothing exceptional. Parking is a nightmare.

This is by far the best fish and chip place in Thanet. Love it always fresh and staff great. Food is delightful. Never ever had a bad meal there

This spot was not up to its usual standard. The fish was grey and tasteless, chips ok. My complaint about to quality of the meal was dismissed out of hand. I've been going there regularly for 2 years and this was the worst I've had.

WOW PAID £8.20 FOR A SAUSAGE AND EGG BAGUETTE WITH A TEA.. WHEN I SAID THATS A BIT EXPENSIVE HE SAID MAYBE IN THE WORLD I LIVE. POINTED OUT I EAT THIS BAGUETTE EVERY DAY FROM DIFFERENT PLACES AND THIS IS THE MOST EXPENSIVE. TOLD ME WHY DON'T YOU EFFING EAT THERE THEN... 🤣 STRAIGHT UP RUDE AS THEY COME WHAT A HORRIBLE GUY.. Fabulous food and service and throughly clean thanyu

Just about the best fish restaurant I have ever visited. Superb fresh cod as were the other dishes the family ordered. Wide choice of menu including specials for OAP's & children. Very clean everywhere, cheerful helpful staff. Excellent toilet, disabled & baby change area. Suggest seating in conservatory which has full height opening windows with fab sea views. Cannot fault in any way!

We only had chips but, boy were they good! 2 large portions was well big enough for us 3 and a child with some left over for later in the air fryer too haha 2 cans of drink, portion of delicious curry sauce and 2 large chips, £12 ish Recommend the chips!

Have visited the Fishbone Grill on many occasions for breakfast, lunch and dinner for a sit down or takeaway meal. The food is always brilliant and a good portion size. The staff are very friendly and helpful and I have no reservations at all in recommending this restaurant to everyone.

What a lovely place to stop for a snack...

Came across the Fishbone Grill driving home from Eastbourne. Dined outside as we had our boisterous 18 month old Golden retriever pup with us. The senior citizen fish (rock eel) and chips came with large portion of fish and chips,bread and butter and mug of tea.£11.00 almost too much but managed as it was so well cooked and excellent quality. Although 5.00pm on a monday, there was a steady stream of local customers always a good sign. Inside was very clean as were the toilets. Staff and service matched the quality of the produce. Give it a try if in the vicinity.

When we arrived the restaurant was closed but staff said we could order for takeaway though there were a few things unavailable. Food was great, reasonable meals for kids and we could sit on the benches outside. Great for a stop off travelling home after a day at the beach.

Found this little gem on our way to our holiday cottage , had breakfast and really , it was amazing . Tea and toast included . And plenty on the plate . Needless to say we visited almost daily after that and everything we’ve had has been generous . Really would recommend them .m

Good value excellent staff nice food. Worth a visit if in the area much more than fish and chips to choose from.

Went to get fish and chips take away several weeks ago during lockdown. Exceptional quality and taste. Went again 28.5.21. There was a very unpleasant smell from the bag of burnt oil. And yes the fish and chips were vile. Oil saturated fish and chips with an odour and taste of old burnt oil. Not a pleasant meal. Went in the bin it was so burnt tasting. They need to change their oil more frequently as customers won't buy nasty tasting food like this.

I've been here a few times now and the food here is to die for! I went for the fish and chips this time, which was absolutely mouth watering as I throughly enjoyed every bite.

Excellent Sunday Roast Dinner. We will come back for more of the menu again soon.
