A fun place to visit if you get the chance. Very quirky with plenty of stalls inside set out like a quaint old street. Suspect it's very popular in the summer.

In short - a delightful gem of a food market situated just outside Margate Old town. Longer review: Clearly this venue is a hive of activity with many locals and tourists buying into the rich variety of food on offer. I noticed Asian, Greek, pizza and pastries - not to mention the micro pubs found inside. The atmosphere seems electric and there is a certain buzz about the place you can’t help but notice. Upstairs there are also small boutiques selling clothes and other curiosities. Would give this place 5 stars - but it does seem quite pricey for what’s on offer!

We absolutely loved this little marketplace! We came two times in our weekend stay here and really enjoyed the atmosphere here, it feels very communal and we enjoyed chatting to some of the store owners. We had delicious Greek wraps at the Greek kitchen one evening and came back the next day to get the most delicious vegan pastry and donuts from Bombo and the Old Kent bakery 🥰

I was not too keen on this place the first time I saw it because it was so dim inside. But gave it a quick tour and discovered that the bakery had good French croissants and sausage rolls. And the Thai stall offered Thai Iced Tea that even the Thai restaurant next door didn’t. Quite promising.

We searched for a local market, and 'The Old Kent Market' came up highly recommended. Don't bother. Barely a shop was open, take a torch because it's so dark and dismal. I recall as we came out after a whirlwind look around, I mentioned who now felt suicidal. The 2 or 3 shops that were open, the store holders did not attempt to interact or invite you in. Seriously, a dreadful place. If I could leave zero stars, I would.

An unusual place, inside are a number of small independent businesses - a tiny pub (with dartboard), ice cream, coffee shop and numerous types of food to name a few. There was brisk trade and the benches saw constant turnover of people enjoying the food & drink. There are benches outside which I'm sure are more popular during the warmer months. We had a nice Greek lunch, a gin & tonic from the bar and watched the small crowd for about 30 mins. All very nice.

The pizza, Greek and Indian are all great but we ate at newcomer Tic's Bus Cafe yesterday an Asian menu including delicious noodle soup, a penang curry and a succulent chicken Satay burger where all excellent value and there is bus seating up stairs which gives an American Diner vibe. Afterwards we had sweet treats from Gina's Bakery and the awesome Ice Cream shop. We love going to the Old Kent Market when we visit Margate, everytime we discover something more. Love the pizzeria Mamma Mia, great pizzaiolo called Carmine, go and visit, his pizzas are so reasonable but they are made with the best ingredients sorced locally but Carmine told me he has burrata mozzarella hand made in Dartford by a Napoletan dedicated craft man, burratas are made with cream inside and normally are very expensive but Carmine says: I couldn't make nice pizzas without the best ingredients' I definitely recommend this pizzeria, give it a go! Opened from Friday to Sunday at the moment, longer on half terms and of course summertime. Catch him before he goes 🤩👍🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕

Went for lunch with a friend Have been here before for tea and cake Sat at a table in the sun decided to move when one with a sun shade became free as I got up my brand new trousers caught on 2 prices of the plastic wicker chair that had come losses and were sticking out. I hadn't noticed this when sitting down as I couldn't pull the chair out fully due to lack of space. My trousers were damaged. I informed the waiter who just said sorry, and he would remove the chair. This wasn't done until as we left, I told another member of staff. If I had had bare legs, I would have had a nasty cut. We ordered jacket potato with chilie and salad. Which was quite nice . However my friends coffee was cold. Informed the same male member of staff who said the machine was playing up he took the cup and returned the same half drunk coffee to the table it had obviously just been put in the microwave. Sadly, I now have a damaged pair of trousers that I will have to pay to be mended, and we were not even given a full cup Of fresh coffee. Needless to say, we won't be returning.

Watery ice cream - yuck. Unfortunately I think the proprietors forgot to add the ice cream powder to the liquid today. Within 30seconds of having the cones the “ice cream” was melting and it was very watery tasting. It is advertised as Jersey ice cream which surely means it should be creamy?
