Thr attitude to customers from behind the bar needs some serious improvement. A pub is a place to enjoy and socialise and not be on the recieving end of aggressive insulting behaviour

The Swan has reopened after a 16 month break for lockdown and the pandemic. The opening hours are now: Wed - 6.30pm to 10pm bar and fish and chips (best to pre-book) Fri - 6.30pm to 11pm bar only Sat - 7pm to 11pm bar only & Sun - 12pm-3pm bar only I've called in a couple of times over the last month and am pleased to report that the beer, both quality and choice is excellent and a subtle reconfiguration has provided a lovely lounge area where the old restaurant area used to be. It remains a drinkers pub, but the fish and chips on a Wednesday night fills the plaice - sorry! Beers are currently: Timothy Taylor Landlord, Sharps Doombar, Batemans XXB, Draft Stella, bottled Peroni and Aspals cyder. The Swan remains the cosiest and friendliest pub in the district!

From a friend down the road, who ate there last week, we decided to venture forth. We should have booked on a Tuesday evening for the fish and chips on Wednesday but we still got a table. Pushing the door open at 7.30pm, to be greeted by the sound of good conversations and a warm atmosphere. All from an untouched and non developed pub, with a good range of beer inc Timothy Taylor Landlord at the right temperature. The fish and chips would shame most fish shops, the chips were superb, mushy peas excellent and fish with batter to die for served on piping hot plates. Struggling to finish, and managed it and a bill that was also amazingly good.... Do not miss this one. Food also on a Friday night that also you need to book for, we will be back!

A group of us visited for their Fish & Chips night on Wednesday and had a good time. The meals were served quickly and were tasty and there was a good selection of ales - Abbot and Timothy Taylor Landlord, plus draught Stella Artois. We'll be back I think!

Fantastic oldy worldy pub, just how a pub should be, fantastic beer and lovely staff. Sunday lunch is good but has to be ordered in advance. Lovely open fire, no loud music just good company and beer, very tucked away but worth a visit

As we searched for a pub to have lunch in,we popped into The Swan in Old Weston. After ordering a drink we had a chat with a few of the locals. We asked the lady behind the bar whether they cooked Sunday dinner or not.She replied that chef only orders in enough meat relating to the bookings they receive. This particular pub is very easily missed,in fact if it was not for the faded sign up above the road side,we would have continued driving. As i had a little nosey around i was impressed with their games room, particularly the skittles table.....you do not see them often nowadays. The 2 gentlemen we spoke with were exceptionally friendly offering us help to find a pub/restaurant that served Sunday lunch(which we later found). The pub was extremely quiet,no music and no television on either...just a few customers and a friendly barmaid and some filled rolls on the side of the bar. This is how pubs should be like......isn"t it??

Now that The Swan has made it onto TripAdvisor I thought I would add my observations. The Swan is a three bar traditional English village pub, situated on Main Street in Old Weston. There is ample parking to the front or in the adjacent village hall car park. You enter the bar with it's inglenook fireplace, to the right is the restaurant area and the left a snug leading to a games room with pool table, dartboard and traditional Northamptonshire skittles. The Skittles team play at home on alternate Mondays and the Pool team likewise on Wednesdays. There is always a couple of real ales on tap, Tim Taylor Landlord and Greene King Abbot Ale are the regulars and these are usually complemented by something lighter, such as Oakham or Elgoods. The beer quality is absolutely first class, it will come as no surprise to beer drinkers that The Swan has been listed in the Good Beer Guide consecutively for the last 21 years and has won the district CAMRA pub of the year several times. Wine is limited to a choice of red, white and rose though! Food is only served in the evening Friday and Saturday and Sunday lunchtime, with a Fish and Chip night on Wednesday, but be aware you need to ring in advance as Chef tends to wrap things up by 8.30pm if there isn't a queue! Meals are excellent value, with Fish, chips and mushy peas costing less than £6 eat in or takeaway. The Restaurant menu for Friday and Saturday night is again excellent value, they don't do starters, so the convention is main course followed by dessert. Jim the Landlord makes the delicious homemade pies. The opening times are peculiar and a little out of touch with modern lifestyle. They definitely need mentioning here to avoid a wasted trip: Mon - Friday 6.30pm > close Sat and Sun 12.00pm > 3.00pm & 7pm > close The locals are a friendly bunch, you definitely do not get the craning necks and silence when you enter as a stranger, unlike some village pubs! What I like about The Swan is there is something for all, good beer, good food, friendly atmosphere and an unobtrusive games room. This review may sound like an advert, but it isn't. I am a customer and call in for a drink / meal occasionally, despite it's quirky approach to dining and opening hours it is still the best village pub for miles around. Telephone 01832 293400

Pleasantly surprised by the quality of our sandwich orders. Service was very good in a clean bar area with nice ambience.

Basic pub food. Only keg lagers/beers. Coffee abysmal. Not enough staff so expect long waits to get served. A nice location with a view down the rowing lake. A seal or two sometimes in residence in the lake or adjacent river basin.
