Moorhen in Peterborough

Had an impromptu visit, we were very impressed with the menu. With live sport on the atmosphere was great and to top it off we were able to take our dog with us too!

Came in other Saturday night to see a fantastic live band was amazing with super service and drinks at a great temperature , lovely atmosphere as always.

Amazing atmosphere, friendly staff and the food is amazing. Great deals on food and drink.All staff are friendly, and always smiling and willing to help. Ben I the kitchen was really accommodating to our dietary needs and no fuss was made about the changes to meals and all food came out hot and well presented.

Another fantastic live band , brilliant entertainment, ordered food with our 30% off website , new menu kebab was fresh with lovely salad , pies were full of filling , staff as ever were happy and friendly

Been a local for years and they have not one single plain gin!!! Ridiculous that I have been asking the bar staff for weeks to restock Gordon’s green gin and have been given a replacement of Witney nill!!!! Then they run out of that With no other replacement Completely ruined my night as I came here to listen to a band that was playing It’s not good enough!!!!

Lovely pub/restaurant with nice views over the water. We had lunch (mixed grill and the southern chicken burger) i got gravy with the chips and that was soo tasty!. Food was just all delicious. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It will be nice in summer to sit outside in the seating area. We will be back for some more yummy food!

Tables not cleaned after each guest table13 very sticky, not all starter’s available no breaded mushrooms. Service not particularly fast but when it arrived food was good. I will think again before going back.

Hi there I reserved a table for 6 including my mother to celebrate a birthday on Sunday 18th Feb 5pm. Amongst the meals ordered were 4 Cowboy Burger meals. When they arrived they came out with the burgers and fries but missing was the dipping pots of burger sauce and the fries were luke warm. The waiters appeared to be pushed off their feet busy so we didn’t think to make a fuss but in iron-sight I wish we had. The burger sauce pots is supposed to be part of the burger experience and so we were disappointed and at £10.50 a plate it certainly didn’t represent value for money. And this has left me doubtful if we would want to visit your restaurant again. Craig Chapman

Chilled atmosphere to enjoy a couple drinks and the footy!!

Steak done perfectly. Good atmosphere wife Happy. Beer cold. Missed one item off meal which was replaced quickly and deserts served after hours.

We go to the moorhen a bit just for drink most of the time and it’s great. When we do have food however it’s by far the best food we’ve ever had from a pub. Delicious ;). Special thanks to the young waitress with glasses Meegan and the young lad Keeiran.

Fraid to say will not be going back, the food and gravy was cold, staff was friendly enough, the table wasn't set as it should be and just handed cheap crackers

We had a family celebration and also wanted to watch the Europa League football. The staff were very polite and hard working. The food was very good and Service was prom. We had a great experience and will definitely be back soon

Burgers tasted like the microwave rustlers burgers, only got 3 mozzarella and cheddar bites for £5 and Guinness was extremely watery/ watered down. Not pleased with the cost vs quality ratio. Especially not for our anniversary meal.

Where do I start?! The entire experience was outstanding: I was served by Evan , who was nothing short of perfect as he was patient and a great conversationist. Management on this night was meggan and she emphasises why she was in charge as she was running the night brilliantly. I was ensured that my night and food was divine and the main assistant manager Joseph really has got a team that ticks and there is no dearth of quality in any staff member of his!!

Myself and 2 friends popped in there on a Sunday night as we take part in the quiz night there. I wasnt disappointed in the customer service i received from the staff and manager. Excellent in fact. I ordered a burger and chips from the menu and Ethan served me in a very friendly and polite manner. Best look on the website for further details about food and drink menus. I didn't have long to wait either. The food was hot and luscious. Chips were chunky yet fluffy centred and burger was well cooked. Very happy with the choice I made. Too full for pudding though. My friends ordered drinks only. Clean covd19 rules in place and very welcoming to everyone. Children and disabled friendly. Definitely worth visiting. Car park at the side, smoking area outside with seating. Toilets were very clean too. Sunday 26 th March 2023. Came in here with two friends . My friend and I was hungry, so we saw that they offered 20% off all their Roast dinners and thought we would both try the beef. My friend had extra pigs in blankets. There was no Pepsi, so my friend wasn't charged for her drinks. We waited about 10-15 mins for both meals to come. What a LET down!!!! Yorkshire pudding was nice, Vegetables were not hot, and were mushy. Roast potatoes looked like they were from frozen. The stuffing ball were ROCK hard and if anyone with dentures or teeth issues, bit into it, it would hurt someone. Hack saw at the ready for that one!! The meet was chewy and only 2 thin slices. My friend said her carrots were soggy. The manager said the Roast dinner was worth trying. Will not be eating it again and neither will my friend. It's hit and miss really depending on the time of day you go as to the quality of the food. I was a chef once and know when something should not leave the pass because of the quality of the food and seriously would ask for the Manager or servers to check the food for temperature etc when it goes out every so often. There is now portion controls. Disappointed even with 20% off the meal. I feel it was a waste of money I could have spent on another item off the menu.🤮😡😡

Visited with family. We had a lovely meal here. Food arrived hot and tasted delicious. Lovely atmosphere and football was on the TV, so hubby was happy.

The atmosphere was really comfortable as we had a large family dinner. The food was excellent and didn't take to long to be served. We had a very enjoyable time.

It was great! Food was good, only thing I would say is would be good if in busy times you could advise us if a potential wait time to manage expectations as wait times are inevitable but letting us know ahead of time helps us worry less

Lovely local community pub. Very friendly staff and courteous, good choice of food, drinks offers, live entertainment. Accommodating to special requests and reservations. Some of the decor is looking tired, could do with a freshen up, but doesn't detract from an enjoyable visit every time we go. Fab local community pub, family and pet friendly. The bar area has been redecorated and looks much better and brighter. Loads more tables in the garden now. Live music being booked more regularly, altho every weekend would be great. Lots of new signage has been put up too advertising dog friendly, and special offers. All the staff are friendly, cheerful and welcoming. Much improved making it an even more enjoyable experience

Busy local pub. Good selection of beers. CruzCampo on draught, which I have never seen in UK. Deal nights during the week, and live entertainment on the weekend.

This is hands down one of the best pubs in the area, there is a vast range of beverages and the staff are very friendly (especially Meggan the manager) she looks after us in every way possible I would highly recommend. BIG UP THE MOORHEN.

No sirloin had to have rump. Really chewy not rested. Then no prailine, had to have something else. People with us waited 40 mins for dessert despite constant chasing up

Greeted by Alison who was very friendly . The pub is very clean . We sat in the beer garden which was lovely and over looked by a lake . The view was stunning . We ordered our food and it arrived hot and was nice 👍 . Alison brought a bowl of water out for our dog and she explained to us that the pub is a dog friendly place which is good to know . We will definitely be back

Had a really smashing time at the Moorhen as usual. The new manager was an absolute delight to speak to the evening I came in and can see he’s really turning the place around.

No welcome greeting, served by a grumpy man with tattoos. Asked for a fruit shoot and was told they don’t sell them and was not offered an alternative. Ordered nachos, was not offered to upgrade them. After the main meals were finished, I went back to the bar and ordered 3 sundaes. After 15 minutes I went to ask where they were and the man at the bar said ‘They are coming’ eventually they came after 19 minutes. I asked what the delay was and was told the Chef was on his own!!! On a bank holiday Saturday!!!

Lovely place, nice friendly staff, food was fab! Only criticism wouldn’t want to be seated by the toilets again! Would recommend moving all gambling/gaming machines to that wall, just to avoid the smell of the toilets during eating!
