What an awful experience. We simply came to enjoy an early evening drink in the sunshine. When my husband politely asked what the difference was between two beers we were told to leave. The barman was so rude and unfriendly and gave no explanation other than saying my husband had been in recently and asked too many questions. He last went over six months ago. He obviously had the wrong person. I was told that if I was with him I had to leave too. No explanation. Safe to say we will NEVER go back.

It is a lovely place for a drink outside on a warm summer's evening, the view is stupendous. You can't eat outside. I had ham, eggs, chips and peas, £11.95. The ham was thin cut and flabby, straight out of a packet and didn't taste of anything except salt. Another time I will ask about such ham, as I was expecting gammon cooked for me. The chips and eggs were good. My companion had sausages, mash, gravy and peas which seemed about average. We didn't feel welcome.

This pub is off the beaten track and in an idyllic position over looking beautiful hills and countryside.Inside is small but cozy with a restaurant and bars. The food is all home cooked and very high quality unfortunately the drinks are expensive one bottle of pinot grigio and a pint of bass ale comes to £28 which I think is well over priced such a shame for a lovely venue.

This is a tiny pub in the middle of nowhere. When we walked in at 6.30pm, it was full of locals who all stopped and turned to watch the strangers walking into their pub. The land lord is not the warmest of bar tenders but I was able to set up a tab. We went to eat and the food dead mediocre at best. Small menu with basic pub grub. It was hot but nothing special at all. It was empty by 8pm when all the locals had gone home. We were the only two in the pub. In a nutshell, secluded, locals only, average food but a lovely real fire.

About 10-15min outside of Bath, I had high expectations for The Swan Restaurant. The outside is charming and the reviews were great. The decor and atmosphere were great. The service was very friendly but not very attentive and the food was just ok. My salmon was a bit over cooked and the gnocchi were more like potato cakes. My husband’s meat pie was very good with the gravy being the best thing but it wasn’t the best we have every had.

Food OK but nothing out of the ordinary. Not a lot of choice for someone needing gluten free. Landlord not that welcoming. Food served nice and hot and good value for what it was. My chilli was rather dry.

As soon as myself and my 7 year old daughter walked in to this empty pub, the landlord glowered at us, as if we'd just offended him with our presence, making me regret our decision to stop for a soft drink. He made no effort to ask if we'd like anything, and instead, looked away making us feel awkward. I politely asked for a soft drink which he reluctantly made. Then suddenly shouted at my little girl and said she couldn't sit at the bar, which I explained she wasn't doing or going to do. (she was simply cowering behind my legs frightened.) He then snatched back the drinks and told us to get out of his pub. Outside, my little girl asked me what just happened and why we weren't allowed in his pub and I had no adequate explanation. This man was just incomprehensibly aggressive and downright nasty.

Excellent food and a very good pint of Doombar. Landlord very friendly and welcoming. Landlady/chef went out of her way excellent food, go for the ale pie and leave room for the rum and raisin pudding.

We had been on an early evening walk and ended up here. Friendly staff, food (that looked good) if needed and well kept beer. Lots of seating options inside and out, but nothing beats sitting in the evening sunshine in the garden. There is a large car park and its also on a bus route into Bath, so has good access.

Had a lovely evening meal. Warmly welcomed even though we were quite late arriving. Had a homely feel to it. The drinks were spot on. Normally us northerners complain about drinks down south not tasting the same but got no complaints from me 😃

Hermoso pub "de campo" con mesas amplias y cómodas. Buena atención. Comida fresca y bien servida. Pedimos fish and chip y pato, todo bien preparado y abundante. De postre un sticky toffe pudding fue el broche de oro, delicioso!

A small and quaint country pub that serves good old pub grub, along with a selection of local ales. We found the food reasonable priced and very tasty, other guests seemed to enjoy theirs as well. The chap behind the bar was a bit of a gruff character and may not be everyones' cup of tea.

The Swan was built for stone miners on the edge of a steep, deep escarpment. This means that there is a fabulous view from the rear windows, and from a bench at the back of the car park, but little space for the sort of expansion that pub chains would seek. We visited on a Sunday lunchtime when the bar area was serving a reasonable number of locals and the dining area more or less full with groups who if not regulars appeared to mainly be repeat customers. On offer were a choice o roast lunches, each with small and regular options, and also a vegetarian dish. My lamb was perhaps cooked slightly too long but accompanied by a range of well prepared vegetables. The desserts looked good. I have had better meals but it was perfectly acceptble for the price.I can understand that some might quibble with the service - the landlord initially appeared rather dour but he eased up as the pub filled. You ill not be instructed to have a nice day or asked if you are enjoying the meal. They concentrate on serving good food and drink and then washing up the empty plates.

Been here many times and always received a friendly welcome. In winter there is a log fire burning and the clientele is usually local with some guests staying the night in the pub accommodation.there is a dining room but we usually eat in the bar area. The menu is good honest down to earth, quite varied, home prepared and really tasty at very reasonable prices. This is the first time I have been since being diagnosed coeliac but it was no problem. I was informed which items on the menu were suitable for me and we both had a very enjoyable meal.this pub is one which we have visited numerous times over the years and we have never oncew come away disappointed. I can recommend for a quiet meal with good home cooking.

We made a stop here as the place looked cosy and had outdoor sitting. The staff was friendly and the place was full. We ordered the apple crumble with cinnamon icecream and the creme brulee. Both dishes were very nice.

Well, I can safely say that I have NEVER encountered such abysmal customer service, in any type of forward facing business, as I did in The Swan today (19/01/14). We had been for a walk in the delightful sunshine and had planned to call at the pub mid walk to enjoy a drink and some snacks. We consisted of 2 sets of parents, 1 grandparent and 3 children (aged 4, 5 and 6). We are all respectable, polite individuals and the children have all had the importance of manners impressed upon them from an early age. When we entered the completely empty pub the man behind the bar was immediately grumpy without good cause. I can only assume he doesn't like children, I cannot think what other reason there would be. We had already taken off and left our wellies outside on the doorstep, in what we thought was a courteous jesture. The children were excited to see the spectacular views and the man (who I assume is the landlord) barked at the children not to go near to the window as it was single pane. Fair enough comment I thought, but inappropriately delivered to the children, who were not being naughty. The children were passed the message by us in a more approriate tone. We began to take our coats off and decide what to order. One parent spotted an open shelving system, which serviced the food tables, and was full of condiments and the like. She picked up a paper napkin from the top of the shelf...Well, the man nearly exploded with rage that we should not be poking our nose in his stuff, and that we should keep our hands off. The parent very quietly explained that she was about to bring it to the bar to ask if the children could use it to do some drawing on whilst we had our drink. Absolutely not was the reply. The napkin was replaced. As an employee of the emergency services I am well used to outbursts, but rarely have I seen such a temper tantrum so unprovoked and unecessary. It was akin to that which you would expect from a two year old. His rage was ludicrous and he shouted at us "I CANNOT BE BOTHERED TO SERVE YOU...GET OUT". To make this perfectly clear, we had done nothing other than to pick up a napkin and then replace it, we had not argued back or been rude in any way. The children were slack jawed at what was unfolding in front of them and I had to explain why they wouldn't be getting the drink and treats which they had been promised. We left the pub straight away and slightly bewildered and gobsmacked about what had happened. We were totally bemused that we'd all just been ejected from a pub for the first times in our lives!Needless to say, we will not be frequenting this pub again. We cannot comment on the food or drink, as we never got to sample them. There are lovely views from the couple of small windows which overlook the valley, but we didn't get to stay long enough to appreciate them. I notice other reviews about his grumpiness, so perhaps it wasn't personal.

AWFUL SERVICE!!!! Rude and disrespectful. We will not be returning to farrington. We haven’t been for very long time because the service is always a bit off, but we thought we would be give a chance. But sure enough it let us down AGAIN!! We will go to other cafes that are welcoming, friendly and respectful. Which are not far away from farrington. Farrington appears to be friendly little family run business, but it is actually not that it’s a large group that clearly treat their staff badly and it shows.

I went in with a friend and immediately got asked to sit outside for some unspecified reason, Sat outside and was then told I looked too ‘chavy’ by a lady who really didn’t look too much better imo. Since when does clothing define your personality?

If you are looking to hold a function here I wouldn't bother! Trying to charge the family of a regular who probably spent thousands in this pub over the past few years - over £800 to hold his wake here! And they don't even close the pub off for private functions! 😂 oh and they tried stealing the car of the man who passed away by hiding it at the back of the pub!

The staff are progressively turning this once fine peaceful cafe into their own play area. Not somewhere any more for a quiet coffee , a read, and a respectful chat. Neros make a play on being a traditional coffee house. They were; this isn’t. Sad.

Whilst enjoying a day trip to Bath, my friend and I popped in for lunch. A previous review described the service as uncomfortable and I would totally agree. The guy who served me couldn't have been more disinterested if he'd tried. No smile, welcome, nothing! We had a wrap each and a tea. I had to ask for a serviette, as I couldn't find any. They were seemingly behind the counter, so we had not been given any !! Basic stuff really. I took a tray in from outside to make space for us to sit, the guy dispensing the teas/coffees was delightful and took the tray straight away " let me take that from you " Whilst probably a flow of customers were there, it was not unduly busy. The bland/apathetic attitude really soured the experience. I suggest the front of house staff, on this occasion has some training or perhaps looks for another job where he does not have face-to-face face customer contact as he is doing the business no favours. I will never return there !
