I lived in the area for ages and frequently drove past : now we’re in Wales but we’ve eaten here twice in the last week. The Swan is Tardis like, with so much dining room but arranged so it still feels intimate or cosy. You get a genuinely warm welcome. Staff are excellent. Decent choices on the menu: we returned for the second visit without booking, because the first experience was so good. Just the same second time around. Real Ale was perfect and house wines very good

Wonderful attendance from the outset. Young team but very well trained, and I didn't have to ask for anything it was all served impeccably... The only reason I didn't rate it 5star was because 2 of the 4 meals came colder, and one pork dish was very tough. I should have returned those but failed to on our part. Would go again, but if meals were cold , I would send them back to the kitchen. Otherwise, it was a very pleasant evening.

Great single night stay at The Swan Inn. Check-in nice and easy, especially as I turned up a bit early. Room spotless. Single bed, and a bit softer than my usual bigger firmer bed but perfectly acceptable. Free Wifi was essential as mobile signal was virtually non existent and without it could not even make a phone call. Included breakfast was very good from stated locally sourced items

We walked to this pub for a drink as we are at the campsite up the road. We were brought a menu and saw they had lots of gluten free options so we decided to stay and eat. We both chose the rack of lamb with dauphinoise potatoes and it was exquisite. We then both had a dessert- Panna cotta and Eton mess. All good was beautiful! Great setting and lovely staff.

Love the Swan. It's a brilliant place to stay, the staff are fantastic, has a good selection of drinks and an amazing food menu. I'm a coeliac, my wife's a vegetarian and two of my children are lactose free. They still manage to cater for all of us with a magnificent selection of foods. Our third attempt at having lunch at this place on a Tuesday afternoon was met with disappointment. Despite the empty interior and only a few tables outside, we were initially hopeful. We ordered our drinks, received menus, and were told to come back to the bar to order when ready. However, when we returned to place our food order for two people, we were informed that they were too busy to take food orders at the moment and to come back in 15 minutes. This was frustrating, especially considering the place was nearly empty. When we asked about the situation, we were told that they only had a small kitchen. The lack of service and inability to provide timely kitchen service for such low capacity was baffling. We weren't willing to wait and then potentially have to fight for our place in another queue once the kitchen reopened. So, we took our drinks back to the bar and requested a refund, as we had only taken a sip. It's disappointing to see the decline in service at a place that used to be good. They even suggested booking in the future for a Tuesday lunch, which seemed unnecessary for a pub and garden with such low capacity. It's clear that they need to improve their operations, as even a chain like Harvester provides better service when busy.

We are on holiday so will sadly not be able to return here but we were very impressed! The food is delicious & reasonably priced but for us, the real show stopper is the garden! The layout has been carefully thought about to give each table privacy while still being part of the atmosphere and it looks beautiful! Very dog friendly-each table has a little hook to attach your dog to and all staff are lovely and welcoming. Many of them asked to fuss our dogs as they walked past & even brought out treats & water for them. Wish this pub was closer to home so we could visit more

We stopped off at the Hanley Swan for a pint and something light to eat. The setting on the village green is beautiful. While the pint was lovely the food was expensive and disappointing. Having ordered some 3x fried chunky chips I was a little surprised to have something more like chunky oven chips (soggy and definitely not 3 times fried) served in something that looked like a pen holder from a desk organiser set that you might find at home bargains. Arty presentation but very poor standard/value for money. While the bar staff were polite enough the staff circulating around the tables were actually quite unpleasant. I doubt we will return even though we’re often in the area.

My wife and I stayed here for one night before visiting the flea market at the County Showground the next day. The room was OK, but the toilet didn't flush and when I told them about it, they said they'd get it fixed...which they didn't. Shower was also pretty pathetic in terms of power and heat. We ate in the restaurant that evening having booked a table. The place has received a power cut for 10 mins that evening, and so we were asked to wait for our table to be prepared. When we were finally shown to our table, we were sat there for 15 mins waiting for someone to take our order. When we finally managed to get someone's attention, they said we'd have to wait to order as the kitchen hadn't caught up with the backlog. Thanks for telling us. We were offered some complimentary olives and bread, which were well received as we were starving. Food, when it came was lovely but the waiting staff were really sullen and moody, and really not very friendly at all, including what I presume was the restaurant manager. She was quite rude to some of her staff and the general vibe was one of stress. We have to give a huge shout out, however, to Joe working behind the bar, who was a breath of fresh air, funny, engaging, and up for a laugh. Had it not been for him, it would've been a very very poor experience all round. I'd suggest you make him the manager if you're reading this.

We had a poor experience here. Stayed in the pub for 1 night but the toilet didn't work and the shower was pathetic. Told the toilet would be fixed, but no one ever came. Food was good, but it was busy and the waiting staff looked very stressed. Might have been because of a short power cut, but didn't seem to have any decent management going on. Staff were moody and sullen apart from Joe, who was excellent. Garden is fantastic, and the band that played outside was great. The music inside from a singer made absolutely no sense and was poorly judged...singing dance classic in an old pub was ridiculous. Didn't need this at all as it was so busy there was already a buzzy atmosphere. Might have been a one-off, but somehow I doubt it.

What an absolute gem of a genuine village pub. The location is fabulous, the pub sits on the edge of the village green, with the village shop and duck pond opposite. I would describe this as the unspoilt village location, it truly warms the heart. We strolled from the local caravan and camping club site (1mile, easy walk). The pub is absolutely gorgeous, retaining the essence of the old traditional pubs of my English youth, characterful, beamed, with comfortable seating inside and out, and fabulous food. We decided on sandwiches for lunch, one beef and one lamb (Gyro), both came with a fresh side salad and fries. You choose the bread you would like, and the bread is fantastically fresh and the beef/lamb truly melt in the mouth. Best pub sandwiches ever. To accompany the food we had glasses of White Rioja and Argentinian Malbec, again very acceptable, well rounded wine. The staff were extremely professional and friendly, the pub itself is spotless and enjoyed by the locals as well as visitors. If you venture this way, the pub is a must visit, you will not be disappointed.

If we’d been there 3 hours earlier to eat the roast potatoes when they were first cooked it would have been good! The menu was a traditional Sunday lunch offering and I’d probably not go on a Sunday again - for some places it seems to just give them a license to cook a big batch of food early doors & then keep it hot. At least if you’re ordering individual meals off a much wider menu, it makes it more difficult to take that short cut in preparation! The couple next to us complained about theirs at the end of their meal - and got a discount - so we suspect that the pub knew what they were turning out wasn’t really up to scratch! Aspects of the meal suggested it had the potential to be rather better than our experience - so will give it another go at some point.

I feel sad that I can’t give this pub 5 stars, I would if it was based on the pub itself but sadly the service very much let the experience down. The pub itself is really lovely. It has great spaces such as dog friendly areas, conservatory, areas where dogs aren’t allowed, stunning conservatory and great outdoor seating under cover. The decor is stunning and has lots of fairy lights which give it a cosy and romantic feel. First time we went there was just for drinks. It took 15 minutes for someone to realise that we hadn’t been served. When we had finished no one bothered to ask if we wanted more, so we left. The next time we came we were hopeful that the service would be a bit better as we went for breakfast and were the only people in there. Food was really good and was good value, especially for the full English. The service was still slow and no one bothered to ask if everything was ok. When we wanted the bill it seemed everyone had vanished and it took ages for us to find someone. We were then charged incorrectly and it was a bit of a faff to sort out. Great pub but sadly the service really does let it down. Needs vast improvement.

A much awaited pub meal inside. Dined with a friend. The menu has pub classics and a good choice of seasonal food. The food was good tasty beautifully presented, a delightful eat. However the red headed waitress was unfriendly, brusque, and we wondered if we had offended her in some way. The other waitress brunette smiled with her eyes masking wearing hides a smile this waitress was the polar opposite. What you would expect in a gastro pub polite friendly efficient.I do sometimes wonder why people work as a waiting staff if they quite clearly hate it . I don't really appreciate having my food slammed down in front of me. No one came over to ask if our food was okay it was but we weren't able to ask for drinks I don't like trying signal staff as I feel it's impolite. When we did ask for wine list waitress huffed as if we were an inconvenience to her. Our bill was nearly £60 for 2 mains 2 puddings and two drinks . We'd like to return with a party of 6 however would be wary of being served by first waitress as some our future party may not be quite as quiet of the poor service.

Had dinner last night (4 of us) we all had Steak.. mix of Fillet, Sirloin and T Bone.. they were all delicious and beautifully cooked. The sauces, chips and salad were also fantastic! Thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful... had the Fondant pudding after! Wow best pudding I’ve had in a long time.We obviously sat outside under the wooden terrace. It was very comfy and dry and to be fair I was warm! Great place and we will 100% be back!! Thank you The Swan it was a great evening.

5 of us arrived for lunch yesterday, the young lady who was looking after us was attentive from the moment we got there, we felt safe in the new seating, covered outside area. The sandwiches we all had were amazing, in fact one of our party took one of hers home, we had fries and green salad all for £9.50 can recommend all. One of our party is moving to Hanley in the next few weeks and have a feeling this is where we will be meeting up!Please support this amazing local business, doesnt get much better! Thank you see you again!!

A fantastic first post lockdown meal at the swan inn in the sun today. We all loved our choices, surf and turf, bouillabaisse and wagyu burger. Started and puds excellent too (haven’t eaten kidneys for years). Highly recommend.

Visited with friends and had never eaten here before. A warm inviting atmosphere quite busy for early Monday evening but still plenty of space available. Lovely food 3 steaks were cooked perfectly and the fish pie piping hot and plenty of different types of fish. Didn’t have starters or puddings but all sound very nice. Great pub and food will definitely visit again

We came here twice while staying locally. The first evening was just for a drink in the bar. The Butty Bach was well kept and the gin selection was varied (in price as well!). Table service was slow, however, and not very attentive. It seemed that you were overlooked unless you were a local and could call across the room to the single barman by name. Second time was for Saturday evening meal. The food was excellent and portion sizes were good. Beware the rice pudding for dessert though! It's wonderful, rich and creamy with beautiful fruit - but it will stick to your ribs. I couldn't leave any, it was so good, but suffered from over eating later! Again, service was a little slow. The place has a lovely old English pub atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit.

After a wait at the door we were taken to a table and given a good explanation of what Covid precautions were in place.Orders taken in a reasonable time. But all delivered without any regard for social distancing – glasses and drinks put down right in front of us, rather than delivered on a tray to the far side of the table for us to help ourselves as we have often found elsewhere. Two staff were struggling to look after many tables – almost running at times - makes it difficult to observe Covid precautions. The food, when it came was superb - duck confit salad and rib eye steak. All cooked to perfection, and attractively presented. The salad nicoise was exceptional. Our table was just beside the door to the conservatory, through which all food was brought into the restaurant. This door has a self-closer which doesn’t work properly and allows a cold draught to come through the half open door. We resorted to moving the table into a corner where we were more protected. We did mention this to the waitress; however in my opinion the table should not be in use in cold weather.Despite our misgivings we enjoyed the food so much that we made a reservation for Sunday lunch. That meal was of equal high quality – for starters we chose pork belly and terrine, roast lamb and vegetable wellington. Again, all exceptional quality and inventively presented. We sat in the Conservatory area this time – a much nicer location, with plenty of staff providing excellent service.

Fantastic evening at The Swan, the staff are very attentive, we were not sat around waiting for the same person to tend our table, all of the girls pitch in and appear to work exceptionally hard. The food is delicious, the portion sizes are excellent, and all was reasonably priced. We look forward to returning here (even though we live 3 hours away!)

Good food, good beer, good service - what more could you want from lunch at a country pub? We were staying at the Caravan Club site which is just a 20 minute or so walk away, making this the obvious place to go to. We'd booked online (a prerequisite in these COVID times; good Wi-Fi at the camp site) on the same day before we wandered into the village of Hanley Swan. We were greeted at the door and taken to our table where we ordered drinks and perused the menu. The Butty Bach is a very well kept pint of beer. The food we had was top quality - and a bonus we hadn't realised beforehand was that the Swan had continued with its own version of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme with 25% off food orders Monday -Thursday at lunchtimes and early evenings. The service was exceptionally good and we felt safe and secure at all times, as well as enjoying a really nice meal.

I found the Swan on Trip Advisor when I needed a good location to gather with 4 other family members for my nephew's 18th birthday. The staff at the Swan were so lovely to us. I rang in the morning and asked if they could do a cake which they couldn't but they were happy for us to bring one. They took charge of the cake and brought it to the table singing Happy Birthday, much to my nephew's embarrassment, but the glee of the rest of us!The food was superb with a varied and interesting menu. It was relatively expensive but good enough to justify the cost. The service was excellent and the staff were warm, friendly and helpful. A few days after my trip to The Swan I realised I had lost a glove. They had it and have posted it to me with no postage charge.I highly recommend The Swan .

Booking was a bit of a faff when we called we were directed to book online but it wouldn't accept the details so when we called again they took the reservation over the phone. There's the Covid NHS app QR code as you enter which I did scan before we were greeted however the other members of my party were not carrying their phones or didn't have the app - mobile data connection was slim to none and the WiFi far from strong enough to download the app at the time. Not quite sure how less tech savvy customers would comply. I believe new legislation is to gather information from the party however we weren't prompted towards completing any track and trace or even a reference to the QR code from the host. Apart from donning our masks and a bottle of hand sanitiser in the condiments caddy, it didn't feel as if any other covid precautions were in place. That aside, the entire place is absolutely beautiful with a great deal of thought put into the decor with a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Our drinks order was taken promptly as we perused the menu which was very well catered with a variety of choices. We were asked if we wanted to see the wine list initially and the wine choice was taken as our first drinks were brought to the table. We were well into our starters before the bottle was brought to our table. The Chorizo and mussels was a great starter fantastically presented in a proper mussels pot, and attentional to detail with the finger bowl which is so overlooked by other places. The menu was full of refreshing variety and our mains arrived within a good time frame from the starters. Our mains were again beautifully presented but again we were left waiting a short while before the final dish arrived. We as a party are a sociable group and tried engaging with the hosts which fell a little flat and the few staff we met seemed to want to just take our orders/plates and leave. I know having to wear a mask constantly gets hot and not being able to see a smile or communicate non verbally does dampen it for the staff themselves and makes their job harder so in no way were any of them at all rude or surly, they were just a little disengaged. The one hurry of the evening was from being given desserts menus to asking whether or not we were partaking as it was 9:20 and they were conscious of the 10pm closure. All in all we had a nice evening but would be back on a more casual visit to appreciate the gorgeous surroundings.

We enjoyed two evenings at The Swan with good food and excellent service. The Haddock and chips was good but could serve a larger fish. Desserts very good, especially the Chocolate Fondant. Nice dog friendly section of the restaurant and only a level 15 minute walk from Malvern Hills Caravan Park (take a torch). The staff are all helpful and efficient.
