The Bell Inn in Malvern Hills

We stayed overnight and were given the warmest of welcomes on arrival. We were escorted to our room (No4), which was very clean with a view over the garden. The bed was extremely comfortable and there was good space. I can imagine that in the summer the garden will be very busy, so may not be the best for those who like an early night. Dinner consisted of sticky ribs for my wife and steak for me. Well, this was simply the best steak that I have had for some considerable time. I even tried to steal a rib from my good lady, not a chance! Breakfast was served by Debs who ensured that we had what we wanted. The poached eggs were cooked to perfection, she even made sure that extra toast was served too, what a star. Thank you all so much for your great hospitality.

I don’t usually write reviews but I came in for a Sunday lunch (we hadn't booked) the pub was packed all the staff despite being so busy where incredibly attentive, we sat outside and the quality of the service didn’t change! Drinks were reasonably priced the roast was out of this world! Play area was great for the kids and if I’m honest just a lovely atmosphere! We are new to the area and will definitely be returning!

I had a 10 min walk from a nearby hotel. Went in the bar, ordered a large glass of pinot grigio, charged £7.25. The wine list states £6.00. I asked if i could sit in the restaurant to eat,as bar area was was busy, i was initially told yes. Then asked to leave to go to outside area as restaurant was booked. It felt the outside area was for smokers. I was not happy to eat there. Left disapointed

Great staff but poor food the cheesy chips were ok but very expensive and the cheese pizza fell apart and could not be ate

From the moment I checked in to the moment I left it wasnspot on. You are treated like a real person and not just another guest. The room was spotless (I ran hotels for 25 years so I know what to look for lol). Dinner was out of this world. Not often I ask to speak to the chef but this was worth it. Great night's sleep and breakfast did not fail to impress. You don't need 4 and 5 star hotels with places like this. I will be back. Jonte

We booked online - quick and easy We were staying locally on Saturday evening. Table for four. We were greeted by the bar staff who asked the waitress staff to show us to our table. Ordered drinks, but some were not available, so the waitress came back to amend the order. Starters and mains ordered and arrived in good time. Scallops and rice - delicious, although two scallops on the small side, so I would have expected 4 instead of 3. Nacho sharing platter, it looks messy, we had to ask for side plates as platter was between 3 so difficult to share across the table. Mains - brisket burger- good - coleslaw in thimble pot probably a table spooon size portion. If homemade I’m sure you could supply a ramekin size instead. Steak - good, served with cherry toms on vine, mushrooms and chips in a pot Bbq ribs - good, but would rather not laid on top of a portion of chips, my daughter didn't eat the chips as they were sloppy from heat and moisture from the ribs. We were given menus for dessert but after 20 mins had the go to the bar to ask to place an order, where all 3 waitresses were stood talking. Children's dessert selection is poor - not everyone wants ice cream. The waitress didn't know the difference between vanilla ice cream and mango sorbet. It was annoying that the waitressing staff kept going behind a curtain to another area near our table while we were eating. At no point were we asked if we wanted anymore drinks even when we had empty glasses when they collected main plates. You have local Airbnb hosts recommending you, I urge the management to look at staff issues.

Visited the Bell this afternoon, I ordered the belly pork, when our meals arrived , we were not offered any condiments, the food was just left, i had to go to ask for condiments. My pork was very dry, the potatoes has so much garlic in them you really could not eat them, the dish overall was not nice, I hardly are mine. When the same waitress came to remove the finished plates she asked if everything was ok with the meals ( this was the only time since the food was served that anyone asked if all was OK with the meals) I replied that my food was not good and I did not enjoy it, the waitress just removed my plate , she did not ask what the reason was for me disliking the meal she just walked away. I feel that this is not acceptable the meal was not to a standard that warranted payment, however no one came to enquire with me, the staff where rude and not professional , hence one unhappy customer that will not return.

The food was really nice. However, when we visited, we had not even reached our table and we had still got our coats on, when the waitress asked us what drinks we wanted! We had not even sat down. I did ask if they had mock tails and she did not know…… I asked for a few minutes to look at the drinks menu and we were literally given one minute before she came back and asked what drinks we wanted. The food arrived extremely quickly and the moment we had finished eating the next course was there. It was so terribly rushed and made the whole family experience quite unpleasant. Three courses took less than an hour to eat, because it was so rushed. we appreciated, it was Christmas Eve, it did not feel like the customer was put first, it definitely felt like it was more about how much money they could make in the shortest time. it was a shame because the pub interior was really pretty and the food was good, just spoilt by the lack of staff knowledge and the rushed atmosphere.

Had a family Christmas meal sat next to the open fire and Christmas tree. Really good quality roast and a really nice ambiance.

Lovely food, friendly helpful staff and cosy atmosphere with open fire. All good except the open fire. Chimney needs attention/sweeping as room filled with smoke which was not pleasant when eating and your clothes smelt like a bonfire after leaving.

Nice pub, good chef. But I wouldn't recommend staying over. Room 4 was very noisy as it was above the ladies toilets in the pub and the hand dryer was very loud. Furniture was very cheap flat pack. Mattress was extremely hard and gave me a bad back.

Loved the pub. The staff were fabulous. Had a lovely meal in the pretty garden & a great breakfast. Sadly, the trip was spoilt by very little sleep. I've never slept on a bed that is so hard. We travel a lot and have never experienced such a rock hard mattress. We both felt awful in the morning. I know you can't please everyone with a mattress type, but this one really needs changing. (Room 5) Sad as we'd have stopped here again on our travels back from Cornwall.

Six adults and two dogs from Sunderland, Northampton and Kent met here before heading to our canal boat holiday. We sat in the spacious garden where we could see covered and open seating, a large kids play area, and the dogs were very welcome. Most of us chose the toasted ciabatta sandwiches and they were substantial. Lovely thick slices of beef or ham and plenty of bacon, brie and cranberry. We went for 'Date night/Steak night' last week - a great evening with six of us - food was excellent and wine was a mid week treat - exceptional value for money in a very comfortable environment

We had our first post lockdown drink and meal here - and it was heaven! It was a rare sunny day, just after the pubs had re-opened outdoors only. The new covered area, alongside the pub, is brilliant (and heated !). The lunchtime menu was incredible value. We had halloumi, with roasted veg and spicy hummus to start, followed by the steak, chips and salad. All were top quality, absolutely delicious, and I have to repeat again : incredible value. The service was friendly as well as efficient. We shall be regulars from now on ! Thank you The Bell !

Now this is what a pub should be! Local produce used throughout the menu with British and South African influence! We visited the bell this evening and we were so excited to be out at a pub again. Firstly I must say that the new outdoor heated shelter was brilliant, the staff were absolutely lovely and couldn't fault them at all. Unfortunately the food was poor. We ordered two ribs and a caesar salad. The ribs were incredibly fatty and full of cartilage. The caesar was pleasant enough but the two leaves of lettuce just wasn't enough- the salad itself should be the star, not the chicken. I am sorry to say that we were incredibly disappointed and left hungry. We would definitely return for a drink but not sure about food for now.

We visited the pub twice before lock down at Christmas and had 2 great meals with friendly service in a lovely pub. I had cod and chips first time and slow cooked ribs next, both were excellent and delicious, other family members had same and other items off the menu and none of us were disappointed. Not forgetting some lovely beers, it cheered us up during this sad time.

We have a Christmas meal every year and this was the best ever. Super quality and such attentive staff. Very safe during such difficult times just great to get out again and have such a lovely evening.

Just got back from a one night stay at the Bell Inn Broadheath and can't rate it highly enough.Lovely tastefully decorated room with a really cosy restaurant and bar area, reassuringly everywhere was very clean. A relaxing atmosphere was created by an open fire and beautifull Christmas decorations throughout. The food was delicious with plenty of choice, amply served together with a wide selection of beers, wines and spirit, the prossecco a must.The staff were all efficient and friendly a really great team. Needless to say we will definitely be planning another visit soon.

I went to the Bell with a friend on the 2nd of November to celebrate her birthday before lockdown and we had a lovely time. The bell is a beautiful pub nesseled into broadheath. The food we were severed was excellent and we can both highly recommend the fillet steak and the seafood tagilatelle. The Baileys cheesecake we also had was another level of delicous. We had an absolutely lovely time. All the staff were smiling under their masks which was easy to see. If you have not visited the Bell I highly recommend it; especially a cosy fireside table.

Despite being locals, we have never given our local a try before (shame on us). What a fantastic Sunday lunch we have just had, with the vegetable side dishes every bit as good as the roast (important to us). The puddings were heavenly too. The tables were very well spaced out and the staff worked so hard but with a great sense of humour too. Special thanks to Charlie who was an excellent waiter. We will return!

I would say this has been my best meal out in a long time, food was excellent and staff despite having to wear face coverings were happy & helpful. Didn’t have to wait ages for food and as I could see into the kitchen know it was freshly prepared. It was that good I’ve booked to go again!!

Enjoyed the Sunday roast turkey option with vegetables being carrots, cauliflower cheese, broccoli and roast/ new potatoes. We were comfy sat in the lounge near the fireplace and the staff were helpful, friendly and attentive.

Stayed here twice now. Beautiful rooms, modern and spotlessly clean. Beds are comfy and the showers to die for! Even has a fridge in the room. Breakfast is spot on and available early (as I have working in Worcester). Best place I've stayed in Worcester and I'd highly recommend!!

Visited twice after lockdown. First time stayed overnight. Room was bright and modern , ver comfortable bed huge walk in shower. Fresh milk and water in the fridge. Sat in The garden and enjoyed a glass of wine. Very well organised system for ordering drinks and food. Breakfast next morning was delicious freshly cooked to order with a great choice. Returned the following week with our grandsons and enjoyed a lovely lunch in the garden. Huge children’s portions. They really enjoyed the children’s play area. Our pasta was delicious packed with fish. Highly recommend this family owned pub. Well worth a detour

What a fabulous night we had here for our 20th wedding anniversary. It was a trip down memory lane as we met at Worcester Uni 30 years ago. We received a very friendly welcome and were quickly checked in.Our room was lovely, bright and spacious with everything you need including fresh milk in the fridge! We then walked into uni to reminisce- about a mile and a half then into the city centre - A further mile or so. I’m the evening we had pre-dinner drinks in the lovely pub garden and then a two course dinner inside (no room for dessert!) - everything was delicious and very reasonable in price.We had a great nights sleep and then a delicious breakfast - beautifully cooked. 5 stars in all aspects. Would definitely return!

We were delighted that a favourite pub of ours has come out of lockdown with flying colours. We took advantage of the eat out to help out and found we could eat in or out in good space. Both opted for the £14.95 steak and both enjoyed. Service was excellent and efficient. The only negative for us was that the steak was served on a bread board...and the chips in a bucket... Some might like that but we didn't. They were very happy to provide a plate having said that. Bread boards are undoubtedly harder to keep clean than plates, which is very important at this time. Thanks to all at The Bell.

Like many others I am just starting to venture out and was a little apprehensive about eating out but decided that I would go for it. I needn't have worried as the owners and staff are doing all that is possible to minimise the risk. The number of tables has been reduced to give plenty of space, hand sanitiser is in plentiful supply and I saw surfaces and door handles being wiped down throughout the evening. But more importantly the food was delicious! And tasty butter chicken followed by a belgian waffle and no washing up for the first time in months. Bliss!

Service was pleasant & polite , but £5.95p for a pint of Guiness & 1/2 pint of Carling , drinks are very dear here so we decided not to have a meal .In the Gents toilet the door for the W/C would not lock you could only close it & put your foot against the door to prevent anyone coming in & no paper towels inthe holder to dry my hands , had to use toilet paper to dry them .Very disappointed with this pub & will not go there again .

So surprised to find a pub that still charges a reasonable price for a carvery. Lovely freshly cooked food, plenty of meat choice and well cooked veg. £8.95 was an excellent price.

Excellent food, attentive staff and a lovely atmosphere. What more could you want? I was one of a group of four people one of whom is a vegetarian. There was plenty on the menu to suit her and once the waitress knew her dietary requirements she was also offered a selection of other dishes that could be adapted to her tastes. I chose the Casear salad for myself which was delicious and very filling (loads of chicken). The serving staff were attentive without being pushy and the whole evening felt very relaxed. I will definitely be visiting again.

Visited for a Christmas meal .. the food was amazing .. great value three course meal...each as good as it gets ..atmosphere was wonderful..although busy our table was ready at the time we booked.. food arrived promptly..the table staff were some of the best..polite and helpful..thankyou all for a great evening...

CLOSE to Christmas we were expecting to have to compete for a table, so we rang up and booked one in advance.Just as well really as when we arrived there was a table for 19 next to us. Fortunately it was for later in the evening and those diners were only just starting to arrive when we were leaving.It was a chilly night so having our table next to a radiator helped warm us up nicely.Friendly staff came and took our drinks order and we were soon ready to order food in a dining area shimmering, sparkling and glowing with Christmas decorations.We had various fish meals and a top quality belly pork which was delicious.By the time we'd finished our main courses only two of us were able to even think about a desert but the sticky toffee pudding which arrived was lovely while the bread and butter pudding was simply delightful.Even with a tip the bill only came to £60 for four main courses, two deserts and two rounds of drinks which we felt was excellent value.So we have no hesitation in recommending people to come here for a festive meal or, indeed, one at any time of the year. Great little place.

Our walking group thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas Lunch celebration at The Bell, Lower Broadheath. Great big thanks to Lindsey and her excellent Chef and friendly, helpful waiting team. The food was rated “excellent” by every one of our large party of 22 Members. Good portions of a wide range of excellent Starters, Mains and Desserts: beautifully cooked and piping hot. A great Occasion for our walking group. We’ll happily award you “Christmas Meal of 2019” again this year! We’ll be in touch again in 2020 to make arrangements to return next year. What a wonderful evening. The Bell accommodated 16 of us on a Saturday evening in November with ease. The food was excellent with a wide variety from fine dinning to burgers which suited all, ages from 7 to 84. The waitresses were very attentive and were constantly checking whether everything was alright and sorting out drinks. I would highly recommend and will return.

Staff very friendly, cosy atmosphere the only thing that let it down was our carvery, as it was 5pm we discovered it was the end of the service, very little choice of meat left, vegetables were nearly raw, and the whole meal was practically cold. Very disappointed sad to say we would not recommend, and we will not be returning anytime in the future.

An incredibly welcoming pub where even the locals go out of their way to make you feel at home. Food was delightful and staff couldn't do enough to accommodate us. Rooms were comfortable.

Setting is cosy and the staff are really welcoming and friendly. We sat by a real fire and flowed happily.

The food here was delicious - biggest sea bass fillet I have ever had set on a bed of lovely risotto. We were a party if five and all enjoyed their food.

We had booked a table via phone. When we were showed to our table we were a little disappointed to be sat in the bar area rather than the slightly posher looking restaurant area just over the way which was completely empty.

This is a great place to stay for the location of exploring the Worcester area and Malvern Hills. The rooms are clean and tidy, very comfortable and the food is first class, from the breakfasts to the evening meals. The Bell also supplies a good stock of ale too !!

The staff were friendly and attentive but the food was dreadful. We shated a starter of camembert which came out cold. We sent it back and it was reheated but still wasn't great. My seabass meal was awful. Stringy mange tout on a soggy lettuce. My partner had the chicken which was bland and the pitta was rock hard.the pub was very shabby. Never again.....

Excellent overnight accommodation, clean comfortable room, great staff, good food. We cannot praise The Bell Inn highly enough. And so economical.

We booked a table for 18, for a large family gathering. sometimes with large groups service and quality dip a bit, it is after all a strain to ship out 18 meals at once.

Booked a hotel last minute as we were in West Midlands Safari all day and didn't fancy driving home. It's about 30 mins away from the park. Perfect reach. Didn't really know what to expect but WOW what a hidden gem. The rooms are fresh, clean and spacious. We were a family of 5. Although the baby that we booked didn't come. In the room was a travel cot. And the wonderful owner took it down straight away so we had more room. Very welcoming owner. Was interested in what we had done before arriving. We were shown to our lovely room. The bathroom is Fabulous fresh and new. And then we went downstairs to have a meal. The food was quick, arrived hot and was perfect portion size. My children's food was abs delicious and my steak was perfectly cooked. Like putting a knife through butter. Nicest steak I have had in a long time. We returned to the room. Had a wonderful nights sleep. The next morning came down for breakfast. The breakfast was absolutely beautiful. Lovely selection. Continental or full cooked. The owner once again came over and took an interest in us. Which is a nice touch. It is about 2 miles away from Worcester town centre. Unfortunately we have to head home but will 100% be returning Christmas time to go shopping and will definitely be staying here again

This was our second visit and having enjoyed our first meal here had no doubts that we would enjoy this one too. How wrong we were! Very poor service from the start. Food from the children's menu had to be asked for twice before it arrived (only chips and beans). We then had to ask for a desert menu which then prompted our table to be cleared. Finally gave our choices to the waitress only to be given lemon meringue ice cream instead of vanilla with no explanation and again a long wait for the child dessert which finally arrived after two requests. Having raised these issues with a supervisor there was only a shrug and 'I'll pass it on'. Going to the bar for drinks prior to sitting outside was also problematic. It appears that the 'gas had gone' and no one could rectify this issue including the Chef! Refund requested but we had to wait for the supervisor who was busy in the cellar. Not our best visit ever and we won't be rushing back.
