Good service and choice of Menu. Warm and friendly. The soup was lovely but spoiled by sliced bread cut in half. Better served with crusty or sour dough bread, or a bread roll.

The food was good, but not fabulous. It's not a very good place to be in if you're over 6 feet tall as there are very low ceilings. The staff apply a service charge of 10% onto your bill, which I think is disgusting. If you wanna give them a tip, it should be up to you to decide and not automatically appied. This is more of a dining place rather than a drinking one. The staff are friendly and helpful and the place has quite a good atmosphere.

Love this pub. However… What has happened to the portion size on a Sunday!? This was my adults meal, slightly larger than my son’s kids meal. We took some friends a few weeks ago and experienced exactly the same, I assumed it was just a bad day, Sunday proved not to be the case. What was served (as always) was a very good standard but as for Sundays I’m afraid we’re done.

5 of us. 3 had Beef Lasagne, and thought their portions rather too big, and never left a scrap! My wife didn't eat the bone if her lamb shank, but if she could have, she would have. My 'special' steak and ale pie was exactly right, great to have a proper pie with a base. It seemed busy for a midweek evening, yet the 2 barstaff handled it easily. (I've done that job, I was impressed.) So, great unpretentious pub food, with friendly and well-timed service.

Excellent food for my husband and myself...hot and very tasty.Sadly experience ruined when Bill arrived. 20% vat and 10% gratuity on the food and drinks which added an £8.00 .There was nothing to say there was a 20% extra on the price on the menu...which l feel there should be and we were told about gratuity when presented with the Bill....would have been embarrassing to refuse in front of others Sorry but these extras make it an expensive meal out

What a little gem this pub is. Not cheap but excellent food and a wide range of food and drinks available when you deserve a special treat. I suggest you call and book a table if you plan to eat as the dining area is not huge and fills up quickly. Popular but not overcrowded. Watch out for special events as they often have a live band. I've been before and I'll definitely be going again ...... very soon. When the weather is fine you can also use the excellent beer garden. There's also a covered outdoor area for when it's warm and wet, that's most days in a British summer.

We fell into this pub by accident having dropped of a granddaughter at a party, gone to a nearby pub to be told that they don’t serve food on a Saturday and then the kind lady recommended this one. We live in the north of the county and so don’t know Severn Stoke, but what an excellent recommendation! The Rose and Crown is a fifteenth century, black and white building in a lovely village. Andy, the owner, was a perfect ‘Mein host’! He was attentive, informative and friendly. The food was cooked to a very high standard, there was a good choice of drinks and the ambiance was warm.

Used to come here all the time and food was amazing, went last night and can’t believe how much it’s gone downhill. Tiny portions for starters, chicken was overcooked. Main meals: hunters chicken was soooo chewy I couldn’t eat all of it, the huge chips are so dry. Child’s pizza was a cheap Chicago town one. Cheap mayo and ketchup too. Such a shame it’s gone downhill as the food used to be amazing.

Have been here before for family reunions and always very good. This trip was no exception - warmly welcomed and a nice table. Only difference was that I was able to have the Steak and Kidney Suet Pudding. It's always on the menu but not always available. It's something I like but rarely get. It was first rate, with plenty of kidney, and the extra gravy provided was also very tasty - not often the case. We shall no doubt come again.

We have been to the Rose and Crown many times and been delighted with the food. Service has been great, everything has been served with pride. However, we were so disappointed in the Christmas Lunch, was it a different chef? The roast potatoes were rock hard and the turkey was tasteless. The creme brûlée was nothing special.. and the fish cake starter nothing great. Presentation boring and lacking in creativity.. To top it off at the end we were charged an extra £70 for dishes we didn’t have.. There were no Christmas crackers..and little ambience. Whatever has happened! You won top pub of the year.. I could have cooked Christmas lunch ten times better. Hope you raise your standards and it improves again. Our bill was significant for six people and was the worst Christmas meal we have ever had.

The Rose and Crown is a pretty, quintessential English olde worlde pub sitting in a beautiful village setting. We were greeted warmly as we arrived, and there is plenty of helpful and friendly, good old fashioned hospitality here. It is certainly a place you would want to tarry awhile ! We visited on a cold November Monday lunchtime, and it was pretty busy - so that speaks for itself ! I decided to try the Spicy Bean Burger. It was prettily presented and looked very inviting. The chips were piping hot and very moreish (and I am not a huge chip fan so they must have been good!). Unfortunately the bean burger itself, although very tasty, must have been sitting on the pass awhile. The bun had gone cold and the burger only luke warm. The hunks of Stilton, although generous, where stone cold, and unfortunately the accompanying salad was rather tired too. I dearly wanted to give this lovely welcoming pub a 5 star review - and had my meal been warm and oozing cheese I would definitely have given it such! I expect we were unlucky and we will definitely visit again.

Pub & atmosphere good, clean & ample staffing. Food ,not very good at all. Both my partner & I had the Sunday roast, ( Beef for me and Lamb for Diana), when the meal arrived it was obviously on a plate that was too small, meat piled on over what little veg there was. Both servings of meat was generous but it was difficult to cut and chew, in the end we bagged it up for our dog, she has better teeth than the two of us, gravy had a funny taste and an oily consistency, not very nice at all. We were told by other patrons they eat at this pub every week,I must say that they have little regard as to what they eat!!!! We went to sound out the pub for a Royal Naval Association lunch, I can say categorically that I will NOT be recommending this venue.

We booked after seeing the recent award for pub of the year. We arrived and the place was busy and the lady behind the bar showed us to our table. Our drinks order was taken straight away and arrived quickly. After looking at the menu we had to flag down a waitress to take our order after being left a fair while. We asked what was recommended after seeing items had sold out. We were recommended the Rosie burger. It’s described as beef patty, chicken breast, bacon, pulled pork and cheese. The food arrived and looked well presented. To be honest a plate is more practical than the plank of wood it’s served on. The burger fillings were pretty good. But the burger itself was 2 thin dry burgers. Reminiscent of the kind of thing an 80s kid would have been fed from kwiksave. For a signature dish. I felt this was very poor. Maybe the kitchen had ran out and found what was left in the freezer? Nobody came to bring our bill so opted to go to the bar and pay. We were then told service charge had been added. - I declined this. As we felt service and food could have been better. A shame really as we had heard great things from this place.

The garden is great but the service wasn't: we arrived 10 minutes early for a birthday surprise but were told the table wasn't ready, so we explained it was a surprise and we were told we could hide outside (not raining), A little concerning as there were 11 of us booked in. No apology offered. We actually sat down at 2.30. Apparently the landlady did say they were short staffed but she offered no apology to any of us as a group. The service was mainly from a young waitress who truly did her best but the landlady was abrupt and unapologetic for the fact that everything took such a long time. We had to ask for menus, for coffees, for plates to be taken etc. etc. A simple "I'm sorry for the late start/slow service, have a coffee on us", or something similar would have made all the difference. Instead we received a defensive response to every request. The food wasn't great-comes all on the plate so no choice of veg and you pay extra for cauliflower cheese. Meat is not off the bone so presumably arrives sliced to them and they serve. Furthermore, the service charge is automatically added to the bill here and you have to ask if you want it taken off.. needless to say, we did!

Cracking meal here, very well priced, prepared and cooked by the husband and wife owners. Our visit was made extra special by the friendly ( and comical ) staff - James, Holly and Jay - friendly and chatty locals and a real fire- We can’t recommend this pub enough.

Food - chips very salty and salad non existent. Service - Table was booked in advance. No staff in sight. Had to go find. This was both at bar and food services. Atmosphere -Log Fire went out and room was cold.

Having just got home from a holiday in Italy we fancied a final evening out but our local was fully booked. The Lion was second choice as it is not walkable for us. Very buzzy atmosphere, good pub food and , best of all, the most excellent service, from a young woman who seemed to do everything front of house and still have time to chat, quite up to anything we had abroad.
