The Swan Inn in Ashford

A Saturday evening out. All I can say is 5 stars !! One rack of ribs and one ribeye steak. The steak was fantastic. Chips, mushrooms onions and pepper corn sauce. It was perfect! The rack of ribs was succulent needless to say, there was nothing left. The deserts were also so good and all reasonably priced. The service was professional and all our needs were taken care of. Yes I will be back for another Saturday evening out !! Thank you The Swan Little Chart.

Great lunch. Sat out in the garden. Was so nice to have a large enough table for us all to be around very rare to be able to all sit together. Food was great. Nice to have a play park right beside foe kids . Nice to have umbrellas at the table for shade. Good price for food and good portions

Lovely family meal. Great service and excellent food in a lovely village. Chicken fajitas went down a treat. Perfect portion sizes. The pulled pork loaded chips and home made chocolate brownie were sublime. Food and drink well priced and the waitress Jess was very attentive and friendly. Highly recommend.

A gem of a pub in the Kent countryside with lovely riverside beer garden and children's play area. Always given a warm welcome by friendly landlady and staff. Had lunch and tried the new Summer menu which is very varied with something to suit everyone. We started with the Garlic Prawns in an Asian chilli sauce and the Thai duck in Little gem boats, both were beautifully presented and were delicious . Our main courses were equally delicious and again beautifully presented. The mussels were plentiful with a fabulous broth and the Rump steak salad with the Kentish Blue cheese was huge ! So full we couldn't manage dessert but had a look at the menu and there was a good choice of puddings and ice creams. This new Summer menu is very reasonably priced and there is a good choice of beers, cider,spirits and wine. Have already booked a table for our next visit. Well done everybody !

This is how you imagine a proper pub in the country would be like. We were in our motorhome and there is a few spaces in their field for the likes of us. What a welcome , what lovely food , what lovely clientele we met and above all, the couple who run The Swan are delightful. It’s simply a charm to visit. Thank you.

A lovely pub with excellent staff. A firm favourite with many. In summer it’s so nice watching children paddle in the river. Drinks are always spot on. You can tell that chips are fried in clean, good quality oil. It’s full of little touches that make all the difference.

Called in for lunch with my wife and dog ,all three of us made welcome as usual,my wife having the cod and chips and I had the steak and ale pie ,the pie which is made in the kitchen and not the usual ready made variety was the best I’ve had . My dog also being spoiled with treats.if you are in the area call in you will not be disappointed

I visited solo on a Sunday lunchtime. The pub is a usual haunt of mine for drinks. Tried out the Sunday lunch having heard lots of positive comments. The draught selection is always good, a clear sign of a well kept cellar. Same goes for the wine list again very good and recommend the Chilean Sauvignon Blanc or indeed the Marlborough available only by the bottle and reasonably priced. For my starter I chose the potato skin,  I'd previously made jokes about this but 1 was more than enough. It was delicious and filling. The potato soft and fillings plentiful and tasty. I had Cheese and Bacon. The salsa too was tasty. My roast I opted for the Chicken. This as you will see from the plate was phenomenal. If you have the roast, opt for sides too I had the Cauliflower Cheese, Pigs in blankets and stuffing ball. I appreciate these are at additional cosy, but im my opinion necessary and provide good value for money overall. My dessert was the syrup sponge served with ice cream and perfect. Popped in here for a family lunch today after reading the reviews and also because I used to drink here over 30 years ago, so was interested to see how it was now. And I wasn't disappointed. It was just as lovely as it was all those years ago. A pub full of interest and character, and the modern day owners and staff were just as friendly as the olden days. We all had starters, mains and desserts and it was all very tasty. Look at the menu on the website for what's on offer, but there were lots of choices, all cooked to perfection and plates were cleaned! Our dog Bert was made very welcome, and that means a lot to us. Would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone

What a hidden gem. Called in on the off chance as we drove past with two very hungry children. We were quickly seated by our lovely server Georgian. She gave us outstanding service, nothing was too much trouble and both our two usually shy boys loved her. She was so patient with them both even when they were constantly waving and trying to talk to her every time she walked past our table(sorry about that!)Hats off to the chef as well who we were told is only 25!! He made lots of accommodations for our family and even made our children a special pudding to share. We only had room for sides but the garlic bread was the best I’ve ever had, not your typical bought in rubbish you usually find.Wish we had room for more as all the food coming out looked and smelled sensational. Will certainly be returning to sample more of the lovely menu.It’s not very often you turn up to a bustling pub on a Saterday afternoon with no booking and two small children and are made to feel so welcome. Visited this charming country pub for lunch , we were given a very warm welcome and shown to our tables ( we were a party of 13 , so had 3 tables !). Our drinks orders were taken promptly and brought to the tables . The menu was varied and very reasonably priced , given the number in our party and the fact that all meals are freshly prepared the service was excellent. The meals for our table were all nicely presented and piping hot and the portion size was very generous . Special mention to the curry , the fish and chips and the vegetarian burger - all delicious !! Would certainly go back.

Really lovely welcome on arrival. Our two dogs were made at home with treats and individual water bowls. Timothy Taylor Landlord beer was excellent. Great range of pub food which was spot on - thank you and we’ll be back!

I was 1 of 13 walkers having lunch here. We arrived a bit late, without notice as the walk leader doesn't have a mobile 'phone (though obviously someone else could have phoned). I breezed straight in, too worried about being late to remember to either cover or remove my boots. Briefly I don't think the staff were too impressed about either, but we got over ourselves. Our food was almost ready anyway and was soon with us - and very tasty and well-presented it was too. It's a lovely venue with friendly and helpful staff.

I never give a 5 star rating lightly, but having visited this wonderful country pub, it was more than worthy of this accolade, as I couldn't fault it in any way. I've driven past it many times, but today, on my son's recommendation, we went for a Sunday roast with the family and was not disappointed. Amongst the oak beams and log fire, creating the initial impression, we were greeted with a very friendly welcome. Their roast dinners are among the best I've had, with perfect roast potatoes, unlimited veg, selection of four meats, rich thick gravy and all very plentiful. Combined with being so reasonably priced and a good selection of beers, this pub gets a 10/10 from me and we'll most certainly be returning.

This is first review I have compiled of this terrific pub, but the third time we have eaten there in recent weeks. The menu is mostly traditional pub fare with no great surprises, but none the worse for that. A relatively small menu increases the likelihood that the food will be cooked properly and not microwaved and bunged on a plate. And when you get your chosen dish and taste it, you will be under no illusion that this is anything other than proper food, cooked with care and pride and served by the friendliest of people. The portions may be a little on the large side, but not stupidly so, and in our family we have good appetites. Previously we ate and enjoyed their fish and chips (brilliant batter, fresh fish, well-presented) but this time I went for the belly of pork which was perfectly cooked and full of flavour. Other dishes chosen included the Swan Stack, a gargantuan burger which our son nevertheless finished. Lesser mortals might struggle...also steak and kidney pudding, and fish pie. All solid pub favourites, but the quality stands out. Prices reasonable as well

My wife and I visited on Sunday 22nd December for the roast dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed the roast with plenty to eat and a great price. The only downsides were that it lacked some atmosphere for a pre christmas dinner with a poor choice in music and access was difficult, my wife had to ditch her wheelchair and had to struggle in on her feet. Would definitely recommend the roast dinner though.

One of those rare Kentish village inns that still retains the feel of a proper pub whilst serving great food. The pub has had a change of ownership since our last enjoyable visit. However, the standards have been elevated. I enjoyed a great pint of Adnams Ghostship and a full-blown Sunday roast with unlimited vegetables.

We were made very welcome the moment we set foot inside the pub. The menu was comprehensive without being ridiculously big. The fish pie was excellent.

We have just come back from celebrating my mums 50th birthday..well what can I say wow just amazing the owners went out off their way went above and beyond to make our stay the best and they did a fantastic job.What a lovely down to earth couple. I cant fault them at all they were just amazing. We were also let down from a pub down the road but ann and her husband went out off there way and used their free time to sort something out for us and sorted something else for us to do...the food was out off this world..I cant thank them enough we will be back soon so thank you for everything you really made this weekend happen for us xxx

Wow just wow.. Stayed over the gypsy hut and one of the other lovely huts with family celebrating my mums 50th. This lady and her husband went above and beyond to make sure her weekend and ours was one to remember.The food was out of this world the staff are friendly and had a great warm family atmosphere. We was let down and felt cond from another pub down the road and yet again this lovely lady of the swan saved the hole wknd. Made my mum a beautiful large cake decorated our table at lunch and went out her way to ensure all our events took place. We also got stuck for a taxi so her husband picked us up free of charge. We hve planned a few dates to return highly recommend the swan thankyou so much.
