Cracking pub with London Pride on tap 🙂 and a decent food offering ranging from fish finger sandwich to more substantial and conventional pub grub.

Went for Sunday lunch at 2.30pm. What a disappointment! The plates and food were cold, roast potatoes were burnt so must have been in the oven for hours, vegetables soggy. Staff were pleasant enough but chef didn’t appear when we complained. Potatoes were replaced but dinner getting colder whilst waiting for them. They did make a reduction to bill but would have been even better to have had a decent meal. They need to get their act together. Won’t be eating there again in a hurry.

Popped in for a quick lunch. Beautiful location. My OH had the calves liver and said it was the best he'd ever had.

We were staying nearby and chose this restaurant for dinner. It was a very disappointing experience. Massively over-priced ‘gastro’ pub - the shared starter mezze was meagre and everything tasted shop bought and we had to ask for extra bread. Very long wait between courses. I had the signature trout dish which was awful. Very over seasoned, a bizarre combination of flavours which did not work. It would have been preferable to have a more simple pub dish cooked well than a pretentious offering poorly executed. This dish cost £25. My husband’s burger for £17 was average with probably 10 chips served in a pointless tiny bucket. Would be return and can’t recommend.

Massively overpriced and pretentious “gastro” pub. £17:50 for a burger and a few chips? £25 for overly salted trout with a bizarre combination of flavours? Will not bother again.

We had a lovely stay. The hotel was clean, comfortable and quiet at night. The hotel food was excellent, especially breakfast and the staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a paying public car park nearby, but we managed to get parked out on the street right outside the hotel over night. (Parking restrictions M-Sat 9am-5pm only 1hour) Photo of the castle shows the view from our hotel room. We had a lovely stroll in Arundel, a tasty afternoon tea and enjoyed visiting the Castle.

A super place for a short stay to meet up with old friends. Our room was a generous size, clean and comfortable with an en suite shower. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were friendly and very attentive. We ate in the restaurant on our first night. Not all the food was to our taste and a little on the expensive side. Our waitress was lovely. The bar had a good atmosphere and was relaxing. Lovely to spend time there out of the rain enjoying a cocktail or two. They even had a selection of games to entertain people of all ages!

Only stopped in for breakfast and it was one of the best iv had . The lady who served us was lovely and couldn't do enough for us and the black pudding was the best I've ever had and that's considering I don't normally like black pudding

We’ve been to the Swan many times for food or just drinks. It is always very welcoming and cozy. We often take our puppy as well to learn to settle in busy places, which is never too much trouble for the staff if he’s misbehaving.

We we’re heading to another pub to eat and came upon the swan, what a find!!! Lovely atmosphere, very nice bar. Food was outstanding. A very good wine list and good tasting wine by the glass. Would recommend it and should we ever be in the area again will use without hesitation!

We were staying in the hotel and ate here twice. The not too large menu accommodates most tastes. On the first night my chips qualified for a nomination in the Best Chip in Sussex competition. Crisp outside and fluffy interior - and the bowl kept them hot for a long time. But, alas, the next night the chips were good but not a patch on their predecessors. As many a football manager would say: “Fine margins.” Lack of consistency would fail the nomination requirements. My burger pattie was tasty and the dressing etc soaked nicely into the bun and so the whole lot was consumed. With knife and fork - it’s the only way. My pork chop was ok. I give them a try occasionally in the hope of recapturing the days of my youth when pork had a stronger flavour. Never been the same since they stopped feeding pigs on swill you know. Mrs B’s fish and chips on both nights was plentiful. The fish was of good quality and the batter had a crispy exterior. Needed a tad longer to get it crispy right through. As ever, too many chips. What a waste. Mrs B concurred on the chip quality front. Prices a little expensive. Beware the service charge - no mention on the menu. No grimaces from the waitress when I declined to pay it. We would eat here again.

We were staying at the hotel and had our first evening meal at the hotel. I had the signature dish of Chalk Farm trout fillet. It was WOW! The flavours were fantastic and I think it was the best meal I have ever had.

Stopped for dinner recently and enjoyed the Sunday roast. Service was excellent, bar menu extensive, including a lovely cocktail range. Staff were very polite and attentive; we enjoyed the roast dinner - one nut roast and one chicken - with best gravy in a long while! Will definitely return.

This is a delightful pub near the centre of Arundel. We booked, unnecessarily, for a 1 pm lunch and enjoyed filling and tasty meals of roast pork and roast chicken. The meals were freshly prepared so there was a short wait that allowed for conversation and wine consumption. We had no room for the tempting desserts. We'd certainly recommend coming here for a pleasant dining experience.

Quite a large but cosy L-shaped bar. Very busy on our visit but the service was very good. Popular for dining and that which we saw loked very inviting, Hope to savour for ourselves next time.

Lovely setting for a birthday celebration meal. Our waitress Emma was attentive and very helpful, a credit to the restaurant/hotel. 8 of us all had something different from the comprehensive menu. Impressive that all the meals arrived at the same time AND all piping hot. Recommended.

We had a great time at The Swan celebrating a friends birthday. The team at The Swan were amazing, we had the whole dining room dedicated to ourselves and lots of little touches were made to make the birthday girl feel special. Food was spot on, and the drinks were kept topped up. Looking forward to heading back again sometime soon.

Beata and all her staff especially her chef were amazing, we were a big party of 25 and the food all came out together and was fabulous. I would highly recommend for either an intimate meal or group booking you will be well looked after. Thank you to you all Beata you and your are amazing

I recently had a meal in the Swan with friends and it always impresses me just how good the service and food is every time. Beata and her crew are first rate with a varied menu to suit all tastes. The pub has a very welcoming feel and you can just relax and enjoy yourself.

There was a party of 26 of us with ages ranging from 20's to 70's. We had a brilliant time! Beata couldn't have been more lovely or helpful. The wine flowed, the food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere was great. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and very welcoming. we all loved it and would go there anytime. Thank you Beata and your staff for everything!

We called in for a light lunch. I had the duck liver pate. Great dish, nice chutney, very flavoursome. My wife loved the curried parsnip soup. Service was great - we were pleasantly pleased with our choice for lunch.

Stopped off for a meal and was made very welcome. Two of us had the pie of the day. Very tasty lamb and red pepper with creamy mash and fresh vegetables. Others had burgers also recommended by them. All well presented and the pints of 'London Pride' showed a very well kept cellar.The staff were attentive and efficient. We ate here on a Saturday night - both had fish and chips and they were fantastic. Good food, good service and a nice ambience. The wine was also good but I thought was a touch on the expensive side.

The staff are so friendly and helpful and could not do enough to make you feel at home, breakfast was top drawer and had everything on the menu you could want, rooms are great size and clean and cosy. Can't fault them and I don't often write reviews.

Ate lunch here after visiting Alnwick castle, we had a excellent meal, started with a Greek mezze sharing starter it was excellent and more than generous portions, then we ate from the specials menu, whole plaice and cod loin with risotto. Well worth a visit.

To say this place produced one of the best plates of food I have ever consumed, is honestly no exaggeration. I had the chicken Kiev which came with a side dish involving spinach, mushrooms, and large salty bacon lardons. This side could have passed for a gold star main course in its own right. The plate was presented with flair and the creamy mash was of a high standard. All the staff were friendly and efficient. We had beer and cider to drink which was served perfectly chilled. We stumbled across this place, having done no research and found it to be most memorable.

Excellent food varied menu and very good servicehowever we found the wine menu ludicrous we did not expect a pub to be charging upwards of £28 for a bottle of wine, because of this we only bought 2 glasses and they were tiny. Dropped in for a lunchtime bee. Gales HSB, in super condition. Decided to browse the menu and went for a charcuterie sharing board. Nice selection of warm fresh breads, olives and gherkins. The same could not be said for the meats. Clearly not freshly sliced and one had a distinctive spots of white mould of the face of meat. This was sent back and returned with a message from the chef, that it was OK and the spots were cartilage and to be expected. Sorry not good enough, at least acknowledge when your food is not up to scratch.

We stayed in room 2 last week end had a fabulous room when we booked in we were advised of Covit rules which were carried out 100% We had a double room with a lovely walk in shower lovely towels We were told no one will enter your room until you leave At breakfast we requested towels tea coffee an milk replacement (the milk was in a mini flask lovely touch )This was left outside your door towels wrapped in plastic bag Breakfast menu was on a large board that I was impressed no handling of menus You were served at your table which was great Hand sanatiser was in all areas All of this made us feel very safe after been in for 6 months WELL DONE TO THE SWAN HOTEL Would highly recommend Thank you

We were meeting up with friends whilst staying at Littlehampton.They booked The Swan Hotel. When we got there we had to wait a short while until someone turned up to show us to a table. It was a pleasant day so I asked for an outside table in these Covid19 times. The hotel had no outside space which wasn't good. None of the staff were wearing face masks which I wasn't impressed with. We ordered fishfinger sandwiches as we were eating in the evening. My wife's fishfingers were cold and the batter had obviously been used the previous day. The chips were very brown and unappetising. We were too embarrassed to complain at the time as we were with friends. The beer was good which was the only redeeming feature of the place other than it was clean. We are definitely not going back.

Stopped by, whilst on Arundel, had Sunday lunch for four, really good, well presented, huge Yorkshire pudding, and plenty of gravy!

We ate here last night , it was decidely average . Only given one menus to share , most of the Chels specials sold out . My wife had a Ceasar salad with brown lettuce leaves and overpowered with anchovies in it and very sparse parmesan.My sirlion steak was average but massively overpriced at £24 , you can get a fillet for less than that. The only reason we stuck it out was the "eat out to help out" discount.Would not recommend this place at all

Making use of the government subsidy scheme we went for dinner in the Swan which was delightful. The venue has always been beautiful, welcoming and comfortable but the place was spotless. The Covid precautions were well thought out and operated. The food was excellent. It’s a bit more than high end pub food and some of the dishes looked and tasted beautiful. The staff worked really hard to make it a great experience. Definitely recommended.

A good choice of real ale at this hotel. Not cheap but lovely staff and comfortable seating area. Menu is ok but hotel prices so we chose not to eat there.

Was in Arundel for the weekend and had a very nice lunch in the Swan. Was so nice we booked for dinner. Excellent steak, nice hand pulled beer, beautiful Malbec and an exciting array of different gins. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. May well decide to try the hotel to stay next time we visit

The quality of the food was superb, with a final sharing cheese board that was a great idea as it was good to stand up.

Simply the best Sunday roast you can get. I love The Swan, everything about it just makes you feel cosy and comfortable. We visited tonight with our 2 children and had a lovely meal, service was superb as always and the food was excellent. Never fails to deliver. Thanks again.

Four of us just had a lovely Sunday lunch here. The dining room was comfortable and welcoming, the menu choices accommodated our various tastes, and the food was excellent (the artichoke risotto in particular got a rave review). Service was both friendly and efficient. This was our first visit but we'll definitely be back

We found The Swan by accident while looking for somewhere to take family out for a Sunday (Christmas Lunch).From the moment we drove by, first impressions were very high.Once we got in and were shown to out table, the whole experience on what looked like a very busy day was 5 star.The menu is tight but comprehensive with something for everyone. When ordering we were told, everything was fresh cooked so the roast would take about 25 minutes. Which to me was very encouraging. The wait for the food did not seem like 25 minutes and when it came, wow, each plate looked beautiful and when we started eating the food was hot and very tasty.Staff, very friendly and professional, food wonderful and great value. It's also less than a stone throw from the beautiful sights of Arundel. Will definitely visit again very soon.

We love this pub, good staff nice atmosphere good food and wine, husband had a lovely pie with mash I had a fantastic butternut squash salad, when a chef makes an effort with vegetarian food it’s so pleasing, keep it up guys!!

Excellent Sunday roast. We were a family of four. Kids had the kids roasts and they were a great size. Roast was excellent quality and full of flavour. Yorkshire puddings we’re huge and ample veg. Great meal !

Have now visited twice, excellent ales, particularly HSB. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Food quality very good, of 4 meals my one small gripe is about the quantity of filling in the chicken and leek pie. This was about one small spoonful of minced up content. I like a full pastry pie but it must contain meaty chunks of meat In my opinion

Wife and I ate here whilst staying in Arundel. The hotel dining area and bar looks impressive and it has a really good atmosphere and quick staff who know their job.

The food and service have been pretty good recently but the menu seems to have gone too fancy. Spicy harissa lamb was not just rare it was uncooked and wasn’t really spicy. Tried hard with the fish pie but I succumbed finally to the lack of seasoning and abundance of dill. Shame because it’s a great pub.

We were a table of 5, service was very good from all the friendly staff. Three of us had the beef, 1 chicken, 1 pork. The meats were very well cooked and accompanied by crunchy rosemary roast potatoes, a huge Yorkie, carrot, parsnip, greens, mange tout, butternut squash purée and a side dish of cauliflower cheese and a jug of extra gravy. Other specials were available such as fish pie so you didn’t have to eat a roast. The roasts were 14.50 or 16.50 for the beef. Would definitely go back. Easy to park in the pay and display nearby.

The first time we stopped her the sandwiches were gorgeous but last week quite different, it was a Tuesday and the blonde lady who we assumed was the manager was not there.

A lovely place for Sunday lunch. The dining room is nicely decorated, has a good atmosphere and is very comfortable. We really enjoyed the roast lunch, which included a tasty vegetarian option, and the portions were generous. Service was excellent: friendly, welcoming and efficient.

We stopped in Arundel on our way home from Hastings and visited the Swan to have lunch. We were quite late, it was about 2.30 but as we were told they were still serving Sunday lunch we stayed to eat. Our meals were served quite promptly by pleasant staff but when I started to eat it I found that it wasn’t hot, so asked for it to be changed for a hotter meal. The waitress took it away without any apology and so we waited again for the hotter meal, which came after a wait!! I must say this meal wasn’t a lot better. Also the vegetables were dry as if they had been kept hot since the early morning. The beef was tough, the Yorkshire pudding was dry. All in all it was a very unpalatable meal.

We ate in the Swan Hotel restaurant one midweek evening while staying in Arundel. It was fairly quiet, and our waiter was very polite and attentive. The food was extremely tasty, we had the fish and chips and the thyme roasted chicken which came with a warm salad of butternut squash, chickpeas and caramelised onions - delicious! Deserts were also good. Would definitely return.

Liked the decor in here found a couple of big comfy chairs and settled in nice to just sit and watch people coming and going the food looked good ,staff very nice and by the toilets loads of local information leaflet useful as a visitor

I’ve always wondered how reviews could be so varied but tonight I found out how... Our fridge was broken so we nipped out for a meal at the Swan, a regular haunt. Noose was around to welcome us so we stood at the ‘wait here to be served’ sign like idiots and someone said ‘just sit down they are short staffed’. They did appear to be with only a young lad trying his best to serve a reasonably busy restaurant.

This establishment offers a great English pub experience, the staff are friendly and the food is well recommended. I have visited before and the standards are maintained, it was a shame that the faggots were not on the menu again.
