The Swan Hotel in Stockton-on-Tees

Came because of some decent reviews i saw previously, but was really disappointed. Not sure if they have a new chef in or what but it took nearly an hour for three meals to come out when there wasn't many customers in. X2 parmos which were really bad, hardly no cheese or bechamel sauce, overcoocjed, dry crispy edges, the worst I've seen served locally. Childs meal was served with smash mash potatoes which was like tasteless wallpaper paste. Half the food was left. The quality for £40 in total, is nowhere near good enough. Don't like to leave negative reviews for local places but things vastly need to improve or they won't last.

Visited for drinks Lovely friendly welcome. A hidden gem- available function room, also games area. Staff were getting ready for a Halloween function later this evening!(wish we had tickets). We will be back to sample the menu as what food we saw coming out the kitchen looked delicious. Also the chef was in the restaurant talking to diners asking about their food. Lovely personal touch. Have a great Halloween disco/party.

Good food staff need training as service is very slow and orders were wrong Has potential though

Got served by Victoria she was absolutley amazing, Victoria was very patient waiting for kids to make there order as kids take ages to decide what they want, food was amazing, can't fault anything highly recommend staff are very polite and made our family feel so welcome would eat here every week thanks to everyone at the swan

I've visited this establishment a number of times for personal engagements and for work purposes since Ian and Gemma opened up in June. As a support worker for people with complex needs and learning difficulties, I'm always looking for places to take the people I support, for food and drinks. It's important to take them places that are fully inclusive and will go above and beyond for their customers. This is the place. Nothing is too much, so much as to even consider purchasing certain furniture to accommodate the person I was supporting, on his next visit. I'll continue to bring the people I support here, they enjoy the atmosphere, the friendly staff, and their every need met. Well done guys!!

I decided on the lamb chops for lunch and they were delicious with great presentation. (I poured the gravy on so don't let that put you off) Sometimes lamb chops are mostly bone with very little meat but these were the opposite and the meat was very tender. The mash was super fluffy and tasty too. Great meal.

Hi we were told the swan offered one of the best breakfasts in billingham NOT SO We arrived 0900 as they opened We were shown our table and asked what drinks etc. Then when we were given our drinks we were told they cook every thing fresh so will take 20 min ok time now 0910 We think the tea was of poor quality little taste And the orange came in such a small glass We were then asked what sauces we would like . We thought we might get our food soon The brown sauce was of low quality but have had worse 0955 we gave up appointments to go to Strangely we were told our food was about to be served but we did not have time to eat it and make appointments So we paid for our drinks 2 teas a coke and a orange juice £8.40 which we would not of wanted if we new we had to wait an hr for food We were not the only ones to walk out as we could not wait any more Not sure if the breakfast is good our not but to take nearly am hr to cook it would need to be perfect. I would like to suggest high quality sauces and get the cook out of bed earlier

Had a carvery today it was lovely the meat was so tender and everything was piping hot. We were gonna try dessert but we were stuffed 😋

Newly taken over, the new owners are off to an amazing start. The level of service and customer care is fabulous. Being greeted when you walk in and be seated. The food is delicious and you get value for money.

We looked at this place for a celebration of life event after we lost my nephew Ben. The couple that took over the pub 7 weeks earlier (Gemma and Ian) could not have been nicer and nothing was too much trouble for them. They have personal experience with food allergies so when we explained we had a coeliac vegetarian, they immediately explained how they cater with separate friers, lots of gluten free options on their standard menu and desert menu and went the extra mile by serving this separately at the event with covering to prevent any cross contamination if food or utensils. 5 stars for that guys. They set up their projector for us and had photos of my nephew showing on the stage while running his playlist. Food and drink packages were good value and even included soft drinks, alcohol free beer . They set up a memory table with photos we provided and worked with some incredibly talented friends to provide a backing track when they wanted to sing a few of his favourite songs. Can't speak too highly of this couple they have big plans for the place and the drive and enthusiasm to be successful. If only it was in scotland we would be some of their new regulars as its clear they have the allergen side sussed. 10 out of 10 guys for everything and I hope you carry on with your plans to build this place back up, you were all amazing and looked after us at a really raw time for my family which is what you want a community pub and restaurant to be like.

Attending a party where much of the food that was provided by the party organiser was allergy friendly was no longer allowed to be served, for allergy reasons. When asking for the allergy menus that should be accessible no one knew where it was. I was verbally advised that the burger without a bun "should" be ok... When I have told the staff my child will be eating a premade sandwich and announcement was made that no food was permitted to be consumed if not purchased from them?! Although you could not order any food during the party. Very unorganized and don't trust allergy advice from seemingly untrained staff. Unsafe and unprofessional.

Very unorganized. Came for the football world cup. Had to wait 45 minutes for a drink through their "app" which clearly didn't work as they scrapped it before the game started and resorted back to the norm; ordering directly from the bar. The bar manager (or whoever had control of the the mic) was very obnoxious and passive aggressive. Food stopped at 1900, but extended to 1930 due to the "technical issues". My girlfriend ordered through the app at 1900 and estimated food delivery at 1930 which never came and then was told the kitchen was closed. The venue wasn't even busy which is the most frustrating thing and it proved the order at the bar system worked more effectively.

Ordered just a normal parmo from here and it was shocking, in comparison to 'le parmo factory' that used to be here they are terrible, couldn't get another parmo from here again as all the breadcrumbs fell straight off and I was left eating a grossly pale chicken topped with lackluster toppings

Treat staff awfully. Have minors working, try starting arguments between staff members and their family and friends. Wouldn’t have as a job

The Swan is under new management and wow what a difference! They have cleaned and tidied the place and it looks beautiful. They have started opening for breakfast’s and the food is beautiful! Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍🏻

Recently reopened, the service at the bar was very poor (tried both), once we dod get served, the Guinness had no head, the lads next to us sent their's back. There is a big hole in the door of the gents toilet aswell. Seemed like no-one knew what they were supposed to be doing, Let's just say, it wasn't a good first impression, new ownership or not.

Took advantage of the two for one last Sunday and it was lovely. I enquired about a veggie option and the chap flew into the kitchen to rustle up a veggie wellington. When we were seated with our food they then brought me some veggie gravy too. Husband had lots of meat and the veg was lovely, a big selection to choose from, all piping hot. The staff were friendly and quick to clear away dirty plates etc. Plenty of parking at the rear, well worth a try…

Went 14/1/24. Staff were lovely and food tasty but badly organised. Ran out of nearly everything due to lack of replenishment. Had to ask for most things so stood waiting. 6 takeaways in front. This could have been done out the back in my opinion. If this was better organised then I would give full marks.

Meat lovely and tender, big choice of vegetables. Quality of cooking the veg varies (one week lovely and al dente with perfect seasoning, another week a bit overdone and watery) but still nice enough. Staff can't do enough for you, which is great. They pay attention to dietary requirements too.

Really nice carvery. Very tasty and meat was lovely. Not dry. Veg was spot on too along with the gravy and Yorkshire puddings. Highly recommended. Certainly the nicest dinner I've had for a long time

1st visit to The Swan for lunch. Booked using messenger for the same day. Replied within 10minutes. Wasn't busy at all, plenty of spare tables. Ordered drinks at the bar and paid for carvery there. £6.95 Seniors or £9.95 regular. Don't usually pick Beef, but looked so tasty. Yorkshire, roasties, veg and gravy. Meat tasted great and wasn't disappointed Beats the Toby up the road Definitely recommend and ill visit again in the near future

Good basic pub grub at good price. Not fine dining but did the job. Good value and. fantastic chips. Nice staff and catch up with family.

I really enjoyed the lasagne and the chips were crunchy on the outside and fluffy inside, would definitely recommend it. Staff nice and friendly too.

Quieter than some other local pubs. Not silent you understand but we managed a conversation, imagine that in a friday night. Beer was fine too.

Came in for a parmo after hearing so much about it. Best parmo ive ate in a long time looks delicious homemade chunky chips to !!

Food excellent...Bar staff excellent...Table staff excellent...The meal and Sunday lunch completely ruined by the extremely rude and offensive behaviour of the resident chef..he's normally brusque which you can ignore but he surpassed himself on the day we visited 19/01/2020...He really does need a lesson in how to deal with paying customers ...this long standing customer of several years will not be returning Mr G Thompson

Went as couple for Sunday lunch, veg was watery and sloppy, couldn’t eat it. Gave it a 2 as roasties as meat was good. But if you enjoy your veg on you plate surrounded by water and mushy it’s the place to go!

I've been to The Swan a few times for Sunday lunch and never been disappointed, so decided to try it today for our New Years Day dinner and it was brilliant. We had the large meal choice which on hindsight was maybe bring a tad of a 🐖, lol. The 4 meats were cooked to perfection as was all of the large veggie choice So a definite recommendation from me. 👍👍

Trying to improve the look of the Swan good location normally but sometime volume of traffic spoils the outside drinking area. Couple of pints of Guinness goes down a treat.

Visited for kids christmas party, music was far too loud and everything was a rush. As soon as adult food was being served santa arrived so a bit much packed into a short time. Santa was good though looked quite realistic.

This was a private function, the room was a good size, clean, buffet was excellent, staff cheerful, would recommend.

Really great came in a group of 20 people and the food was amazing...Will go again definately x

Good night out good music on and drinks are at a fair price too. The two fucntions room are a decent size one can hold maybe 300 people id say. And the other about 75-100 and they are decent rooms too with their own bars.
