The Swan Brasserie at The Swan Hotel in Stafford

Food not the best for the price ordered hanging kebab but they ran out of hangers!! Not good enough there was only three pieces of chicken was mostly onion on the skewer. The chips didn't taste fresh the dessert saved the day but I wouldn't return

Enjoyed a weekend stay at this hotel. Great car parking and free. Room lovely with super king-size bed. Breakfast amazing and cooked fresh. Thank you for a lovely weekend.

Had brunch at just after 12. The ingredients seemed good, but bacon and sausage must have been leftovers from breakfast. Bacon was chewy (fork wouldn't go in) and sausage was crunchy. Yes, what I said, so dried out it was crunchy. Nothing wrong with the service, but fire whoever was in the kitchen and thought it was OK to send out food like that. My partners poached eggs were nice though.

The restaurant had a number of popular items missing and his was growing as the evening progressed. There appears to be a serious supply problem. The food was not very hot and must have been standing for a long time before being served. At the end of the meal we waited nearly 25 minutes to get the bill.I would not return in the near future due to these supply issues and food quality I did not consider it value for money.

Absolutely brilliant breakfast been going here at the end of every month for breakfast with my sister we book the window seat every time service is friendly and quick and Tina really looks after us and we feel very welcome we have already booked for the end of this month See you soon x

Our party of 16 were in the main restaurant area , and enjoyed an excellent pre-booked main course meal. The food served was tasty and well-presented, and service friendly and efficient. Our tables were rather too close together, and the car park was very crowded. Nevertheless, we very much enjoyed the experience, having dined here previously in March 2023, and high standards had been maintained.

Sorry to say the food was not the best. The sprouts were so hard, i could not eat them. The stuffing wasn’t cooked either. I had to leave half of my meal because cranberry sauce had been spread all over the plate, I don’t like cranberry sauce. I personally shall not be eating there again. Very expensive and inedible.

Went for afternoon tea with three friends. Had a lovely time. Great service. Good atmosphere and lovely selection of food, especially the scones!

the restaurant was very busy and I was advised that a large party was arriving soon. So I ate straight away. Good advice. The three staff, Jason, Lewis and Chloe all dealt with the customers and workload extremely well. Calm and unhurried yet attentive. Food was excellent and good value too. I loved this place. The little cafe is where we ended up and had a lovely coffee and English style breakfast, both the original and vegan choice. The plates were nice too. Decent helpings and arrived in very good time, not much waiting. Really liked the little chocolates that came with the coffee too, very cute. The waitresses were lovely and friendly. Taking a stroll through the hotel area to the loo area was also nice and relaxing, nice decor with a cozy orangerie style vibe. The building itself is a lovely piece of history I guess, lots of character. Everywhere was very clean. I hope to visit again.

A nice setting. Food very nice and staff pleasant and friendly 😊 The only down side was the wait between courses in an almost empty restaurant. However we did make it to the theatre in time. Will return.

I don’t write reviews but feel compelled on this occasion as I’m so annoyed. Pre theatre visit on a Sunday … meal forty-five-minute wait, after asking where’s our meal it eventually turned up (no apologies or explanation). We then waited another ten minutes whilst the staff member toddled off to find knives and forks, when she returned she had to go off and find salt & pepper?? Flippin heck! It was as if they had never served a meal before! Can not use the excuse 'busy' as few customers in. Staff are more interested in talking about their social lives (in groups) than the customers. Meal was very disappointing, chicken breast? Smallest piece of chicken I’ve ever seen (what the?). We felt as if we were an inconvenience to the staff just by being there. The ironic thing is, when/if the manager and staff read this review they won’t have a clue how poor they are and how they are perceived by customers. We were not the only ones who seemed to be unimpressed. If the owners do have a staff training matrix I would suggest they review it. We will not be returning.

Our party of a dozen were seated in a small side room, and were served our pre-booked 2 course lunch by friendly and efficient staff. Visited The Swan for a couple of drinks with my partner, supposedly one of the more established venues in the town centre considering their prices. Left after first drink… firstly as soon as you walk in you’re hit with the pungent odour of fish. Walked up to the main bar to order drinks to be told this bar is closed go to the other quite bluntly. (Not the warmest of welcomes let me tell you) Ordered and collected our drinks and headed outside away from the smelly aroma inside. Arrived to their beer garden, every single table had dirt and debris on them. Walked around trying to find a clean table, failed. Went back inside to the bar to ask for our table to have a quick wipe to be told I’ll have to wait by a miserable young waitress. We only wanted a couple of drinks in a nice environment but left feeling we were an inconvenience. Will be absolutely avoiding and telling all I know to also. Used to be a lovely clean venue with great customer service. I understand most of hospitality venues are struggling with staffing levels but to be failing at the basic fundamentals, a welcoming customer service with a smile, clean tables and venue shouldn’t be the case. My opinion of the swan now.. nearing it to a care home for the elderly, the atmosphere, the smell, the dirt, the forlorn beer garden. Rotting away.

We booked a 1 night DBB package to stay over on a Sunday night and were very pleased to hear that we could have anything off the menu for either lunch or dinner. We chose dinner and were delighted with what we received along with the std of service that accompanied the food.

If you are out for a drink try and avoid a round of drinks for 6 of us cost over £30 wow!!!!! But was a clean bar and toilets were spotless

I stayed here for 2 nights in November and had a full meal on the first night and the food was really good although equally a good price. Portions were indeed a good size and I washed it down with a pint of their own blonde beer which was very acceptable indeed! The hotel part was fine and comfortable and I was comfy even in the single bed (as opposed to home which is just me in a double bed!). Tea / coffee making facilities in the room so again very homely and welcome after a long day.

When my husband, our 8 year old son and I arrived on Wednesday the 19th of February we were given a warm welcome by Ed throughout our stay whenever we saw him he was always smiling and would answer any questions we had with a smile. The other waiter and waitresses who served us were very professional and the food was lovely. Our hotel room was amazing ,our son discribed it as epic, my husband and I had a 4 poster bed and Daniel had his own room though a interconnecting door. Would highly recommend this hotel and we cannot wait to visit again.

Visited today for lunchtime snack and coffee and I would give 5*’s but for the dreadful toilet facilities which are too small for a venue of this size and are in need of modernisation as the vanity unit is always swimming in water!! The vegan Shepard’s pie was lovely and the portions are massive! The atmosphere at The Swan Brasserie is wonderful. There are many comfortable seats in every room. I love sitting in the window and watching the high street. The service was fantastic and everything about our visit was delightful. We will most certainly be back. Highly recommended.

I went to The Swan to try their new menu for Veganuary and was not disappointed! The menu was so creative and well-executed. I had the banana blossom fish and chips and my partner had the moving mountains burger; both were incredible. If they keep the Veganuary menu, we'll definitely be back to visit soon.

Booked a table for a family birthday meal on Sunday.

Arrived at the restaurant (3adults) wanting full English we had a long wait for the tea to arrive one of our party had to leave before the breakfast arrived admittedly they gave a full refund for this meal but my daughter and I could not eat all of the breakfast served the poached eggs were cold and over cooked mushrooms were very woody (which I find this on most visits) making them old we were told sorry for the delay but a lot of guests came down together!!! Does this mean that the guests get served first instead of order place no wonder food was cold. We have been here several times always something to let you down never again

We thoroughly enjoyed our family evening at the swan. The fish pie, the blade of beef and the fillet of beef were beautiful. The service is good & helpful. I can't fault this place.

We visited the Swan for a second time, having enjoyed our first visit. The place was quite busy on a Saturday lunchtime but fortunately, we found a wonderful window table free. The menu suited us as we were looking for a substantial snack and we both chose jacket potatoes, mine with cheese, my partners with beans. They were both served with salad. The service was friendly and considering the time of day, timely.

I have been to the Swan a few times sometimes just for coffee and cake and others for social drink and dinning. However, since changing ownership I have had a couple of disappointing visits for food. Once a muffin was very dry but was quickly replaced but I think the most disappointing was the Tandoori Chicken Ciabatta. I was expecting for £8 home cooked hot tandoori chicken not unlike the type you are usually served as an Indian starter however, the chicken was cold and more like the plastic stuff you buy as sandwich meat in the supermarket. Maybe I was expecting to much but it was so disappointing!! I have since been for an evening meal and although the order was taken quite promptly (table of 10) it took nearly an hour to get our food which to be honest was not really worth the wait.

Highly recommend the Swan hotel, the food is amazing and the staff are fantastic. The four poster room is by far the best room in the hotel and there complementary breakfast is excellent. Will be returning again soon 5 stars all the way

Beautiful old coaching inn that has been tastefully brought into the 21st century without losing it's inherent historical feel. We were there for a drink and some nibbles and chose to sit in the courtyard as the weather was nice. Very pleasant.

Haven't been in here for years and was not impressed then. How it's changed. The place had been completely refurbished, lots of activity from customers and staff. We only had coffee and nibbles but we were impressed by the whole ambience and are definitely coming back.

Visited for lunch recently having viewed their menu online, really good value for money and two vegan lunch options - I opted for the quinoa and red pepper falafel on ciabatta served with chips. Would happily visit again and try something else from the menu. Really pleased to see that the evening menu has vegan main choices and starters. Although disappointed to see no vegan desserts.

Myself and my wife visited the swan on bank holiday Monday, we sat in the garden and the service was impeccable, the waitress was so helpful and willing to help, she seemed to enjoy her job very much!

Pre-booked a meal for 13 people for a family event. We all chose meals in advance and informed the restaurant and they even accommodated us when we asked if the soup could be tomato soup in order to please everybody!

Tonight I visited the Swan in Stafford with a friend for dinner and drinks. Our meal was superb. The food was delicious. However, what really stood out was the outstanding service we received from our waiter Alex. Alex was attentive, extremely polite and couldn’t do enough for us to ensure our time at The Swan was the absolute best it could be. He truly is an asset to your company. Many thanks. We will be visiting again very soon.

We called in at The Swan on our way north, having negotiated the maze of streets to find the car park. I understand the need for a pay and display system in the car park as it's so close to the crown centre. However the fee is deducted from the food bill. We found a table in the informal seating area, ordered our food and it arrived soon after, delivered by very pleasant staff. The food was good. We came away feeling that we'll return one day as we'd enjoyed the experience and been treated well.

We’ve eaten here a few times since moving to the Stafford area because the meal is always good and the restaurant run well. You know what you’re going to get, in decent surroundings and at a reasonable price.

A very hot day so the air conditioning was very welcome! Food was delicious and very well presented . Staff friendly and attentive . Tables are nicely spread so you don't feel squashed and the building is very tastefully decorated . Big well done to all involved , especially Laura our waitress .

Popped in for a light lunch and read my paper. I ordered an afternoon tea - which strangely enough they had to check in the kitchens to see if they could serve me something on the menu??? The service was first class as always and the afternoon tea was great - very tasty and plenty of it and free refills of tea or coffee - great!!! Much re - decorated since being taken over but looks good for it and it was nice before!

Family meal for our sons 18th , we were looked after by Sophie and her team , wonderful service, nothing was too much trouble .

Second visit to the Brasserie since Coaching inns took over and I must say I was very impressed. The first visit was pretty unimpressive and bland but the team have definitely upped their game with this new menu.

So I have been here a few times. My first visit since the new owners took over and I have to say whilst it was fantastic previously now it it is even better! The food, amazing, service fantastic. Atmosphere wonderful. Keep up the brilliant work and I'll keep returning.

The Swan Brasserie is a most pleasant place for lunch, very nicely decorated, very well ventilated, clean. The dishes are traditional but with a modern presentation. The staff is excellent, smiling, efficient and helpful. The wine list is most attractive. The prices are good, given the execllent quality.

You'll need to be patient as the hotel can be deceptively busy with so many unique quirky dining areas so the waiting staff are over stretched as they seem to be under-staffed. They could do with a 'please wait to be seated' sign at the restaurant entrance as the waitresses have to cover a lot of distance between kitchen and tables which means it is not always manned. The food is delicious and well worth the wait but do not be in a hurry or if you are let them know at the start, one table near us kept complaining and had the waitress in tears in by the end of the evening but she/they were doing they're best but she took the complaints personally :( ( 'how long is a piece of string?') It is a very popular diner so unfortunately they had run out of some dishes which did make choosing somewhat problematic as items were going off the menu as we spoke this was an 8pm booking if your having 3 courses as we did we finished around 11pm but all courses were yummy and staff were very friendly even under pressure. A restaurant manager to meet greet seat and tend to inpatient customers would allow the waiting staff to get on with their job more effectively :)

Having been using the swan for some years I can honestly say since the new brewery have taken over the service is an absolute shambles . Members of staff blatantly walk past your with out even any acknowledgement. Totally understaffed . The management team are well let's just say they are a team I'm not sure they are worthy of the title management . Bring back the Lewis partnership I say .

Myself and my wife decided to have an early dinner before a show at Staffords Gate House Theatre, the Swan suited perfectly as the brasserie opens at 17:00 with good Carparking.

Nice atmosphere,and service was courteous although a bit slow but de weren't in a hurry . The place is quite big but there are lots of different rooms. Our waiter and waitress were very attentive. I found the prices to be slightly on the expensive side but I enjoyed my meal .
