We had lunch here with friends midweek, After looking at the good reviews we were very disappointed in our food, all of us had some complaint with different meals, my husband was so disappointed with his so called chicken and vegetable Penang curry, reluctantly he did return the meal as the chicken was dried out and tough and the timbale of rice was a solid clump. Without quibble from the waitress, He decided on the fish and chips as a safe bet, but even this was over cooked.

Nice meal, great service, lovely view from the beer garden. Nice relaxing atmosphere would definitely return.

Lovely place to stop for food. Amazing views, great food and nice staff. Definately get the Sunday dinner if you can.......perfection. 😎

This pub is a great spot with a nice view, friendly staff (Kim was especially welcoming), and tasty food. It’s a comfortable place to relax and enjoy a meal with good service. Staff were very thorough and careful with an allergy in our party which is great to see. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Part of the Vintage Group and this is the second time that they have not accepted my loyalty rewards. 1st time a free dessert was not honoured and the second time a free complimentary drink. Do not see the point of the Loyalty rewards scheme if they are not being honoured. Don't think that we will be returning in the future. Not one for 3rd time lucky !

We had our wedding reception here. The room was beautiful the staff allowed me to come in the night before hand to set up the room, they also helped me to set up and adjusted all the tables. The service on the day was outstanding we had drinks on arrival and where severed our food within an hour of arriving. The food was amazing steak was cooked to perfection and dessert was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. The staff where brilliant and did everything they could to make the day special. I highly recommend The Swan. Lovely place amazing food.

The atmosphere is amazing and the cold drinks saved me after a long hot day on the Hadrian's Wall path. I lost my phone on the Wall and ran back to the Swan. Kim and Janet went out of their way to help me get in touch with my wife back in the States. The regular customers in the pub drove me out to find my phone (miles away). It was due to their kindness that we found the phone, I got to buy pints for the guys in the pub, and enjoy a could cold drinks myself. I will always have great memories of my afternoon at the Swan!

Popped in whilst passing nearby on the way to Newcastle, service was quick, food was good and hot, staff were pleasant and jolly … just what we needed ..

We visited Wed 3rd July at 7pm and the service from the staff especially the young Newcastle support who was excellent. Enjoyed our meals. Great lace to visit and eat. Definitely recommended.

Really lovely place to eat. Very friendly staff, lovely food and they let us stay overnight in our motorhome in the car park. Highly recommend.

A lovely pub good atmosphere, very good and varied menu. Food was well prepared and presented. Sam the “waiter” was very friendly and helpful especially regarding the menu choice. Worth a ride out.

Pretty empty at 8pm. Only a few people eating so very little atmosphere. Pleasant staff but food was a big let down. Burger was very average and small portions. Hunters chicken inedible being dry and tough with very little sauce...felt like food all came straight out of the freezer. My particular hate are frozen chips.....can no one actually cook fresh chios anymore?

Stopped in for lunch at the end of my Hadrian’s Wall walk. Steak sandwich was delicious and the service was speedy and friendly. Great village pub

Went here for a meal on Monday night, was greated by Janet with a smile who is always welcoming, then was sat at a table with an amazing view! Chloe served us and she was professional and attentive. I had the lamb and it was cooked perfectly. I can't recommend this place enough, delicious food and great service.

For myself and my wife we both thought that everything was of the highest standard. I doubt very much that could be improved on at all. The staff were very good in all aspects and nothing was a bother. We would also like to give all of the kitchen staff a mention as well, the meals that we had were amazing and of the highest standard.

A great place to have a drink or why not have dinner. The food is of exceptional quality. The seating is mixed from leather sofa's to captain chair's. All round Joly nice place.

Not been here for a while but visited for lunch today. A beautifully presented country pub with. A comprehensive traditional menu on offer and also daily specials. I was spoilt for choice so asked Kim and Janet they both recommended the Lasagne so that's what I had...I wasn't disappointed!! I also had a prawn and chorizo starter which was very good, washed down with a very nice pint of neck oil. A very nice warm welcoming friendly atmosphere with beautiful views across the Tyne Valley from the outside seating area. I've been here before a while ago will definitely go back as I could have eaten anything on the menu. Highly recommended and well worth a visit. There were 3 of us and a toddler we all had starters and mains which came in just under £90 which I thought was reasonable for food and drinks of very high quality.

What a really great place this is! Callum and the staff were lovely, friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, the chicken liver parfait, arancini, signature burger and smoked haddock fish cakes we had were delicious. We had fantastic local ales and wine with our meal. With all that it was still very, very reasonably priced! We’ll definitely be back with friends and family.

Food & Drink were reasonably priced and very good, attentive, pleasant and professional team, well looked after. Great beer garden, fantastic views, highly recommended, great stop for the Hadrian's wall trail, as just a few yards off of the trail. Great pictures of the evening mist rising up from the valley.

Excellent service and really tasty food. We had the set lunch menu and it hit the spot. The calamari was crispy and well seasoned, and the lasagne rich and warming. Modest ale choice of Wainwright or Black Sheep.

Really friendly, hospitable place who catered for a fairly large group at - not the usual 'eating' time. Great food and service by all, even though you could tell some staff were a little nervous, they took their time and all was good in the world!!

Took a party of 10 here last night. Food was really lovely, and everything arrived together, beautifully cooked and presented. Staff are cracking, Dan and Kai looked after us all well, and we had a great night. Half the party were visiting from Canada and I was proud to show off our local and its amazing views! Thank you 😊

Very nice restaurant! We arrived before 12:00 but we were invited in when we looked through the door and got a guided tour through the restaurant, followed by some high quality coffee.

this pub was very welcoming when we arrived to have dinner with family from Australia. The two waiters Kai and Ollie were very good and patient with us, as there were 7 of us to feed. Would recommend going to experience the lovely views over the valley.

Just another Vintage Inn. Food was tasty, gravy especially, but service was appalling. Parsnip was huge so, of course, uncooked in the middle. Waitress really could not be bothered and there were only a handful of people in. Gravy was plonked down on the table on the opposite side to the person who had asked for it. Do these staff want a tip? Beautiful view outside so I'd go back for a drink on a nice day but no more food. It's not exactly cheap, although they do various offers. I'd rather go to an independent that tries harder.

I had a steak and kidney pie at this wonderful old country pub and it was one of the best I have ever had. Excellent steak and gravy with a puff pastry. Served with a lot of vegetables and a great IPA beer. The servers were JANET and Kim and they were both terrific. JANET was helpful with all sorts of information about the area, introduced us to some of the locals, and everybody included us in conversations, and we’re so friendly yet was like we belonged in a minute. Excellent pub, excellent food, wonderful atmosphere.

Served by Chloe and Callum, excellent customer service from both, not just polite but friendly as well, both were brilliant with the youngster that accompanied me. Will be back again for the level of customer service.

Just finished the first leg of the Hadrians Wall Path (E to W) and this was the perfect spot for a pint and lunch!

Decided to go here for Sunday dinner as reviews seemed canny but OMG what a big mistake, it was absolutley disgusting and I mean disgusting we used to go here every Sunday when my kids were little and it’s wasn’t trying to be posh the food was nice then but back to today you got 3 clarty pieces of beef mind if you got more it didn’t matter cause it was so so so tough totally uneatable the parsnips were burnt had to ask for a side plate to put the stuff on which you couldn’t eat the carrots and broccoli weren’t burnt but how badly can you cook veg?????? unbelievable the “roast potato’s” well that’s was what it said on the menu were like tinned potato’s roasted disgusting and all for the unbelievable price of £17.95 come on Robin Hood worn a mask and if your wondering I did complain but the girl who served us couldn’t of cared less, must of thought I’m not a tip from these people and how right she was.

The Swan have it all right. Great food, excellent service with real attention to detail. And of course that stunning view. I was on my own, with the dog and felt comfortable and welcome. Thank you

Confusing to find entrance at back of building. Good place for tourists, this one thing may put them off. May be a help if company did something about this. We've been going a good time so know about it.

Lovely lunch to celebrate my mother's 95th birthday. Food was piping hot & we all enjoyed our mains. Desserts were delicious too. I mentioned to Janet that it was my mother's birthday & she put a candle in her dessert along with a chocolate sauce happy birthday written on the plate. Very nice of her to do that, thank you Janet & Kim.

Amazing Sunday Lunch experience. If you are passing or walking this side of Newcastle I would recommend doing a swerve around the corner to discover this traditional pub with great good. Service outstanding and the Sunday roast delicious!! Sorry no photos as demolished before this review.

The staff are always lovely, nothing is too much trouble for them to make your experience as nice as possible. They ALWAYS go the extra mile. I love visiting The Swan. It's clean, airy, comfortable, dog friendly, delicious food and great staff. Best for miles.

We enjoyed the main in the main - however it was disappointing to be served tinned roast potatoes (or at least that's what they tasted like) and I order the Sunday lunch belly pork - which didn't come with the veg that 2 others had ordered for their Sunday lunches (no carrots or broccoli). I also had the garlic mushroom starter - again it seemed like tinned mushrooms. When you're paying £27.50+ each plus drinks I'd have expected fresh vegetables. The potatoes were a complete disappointment

we have just visited the Swan at Heddon with my mam and uncle 6h march the food was delicious, and the service from the young girl and the two young boys was exceptional we will definitely be back

We celebrated a birthday dinner with family. The food was delicious and the service was amazing (friendly and professional). Thanks to Chloe and Callum!!! We didn't have to wait too long for the food and there was an adequate break between courses. The ambience was great and we were seate by the fire. Great experience and we will surely be back.

Thank you to the staff at The Swan Inn for a really lovely Sunday lunch. We were celebrating with friends (and our dog) and nothing could have been improved. Altho' they were busy, the staff were friendly from the moment we arrived and had found...
