It's a really nice peaceful place for a romantic or family or official get together. The staff are warm and efficient.

This place is a diamond. Amazing food and service, warm and friendly Cathryn and Matthew were very attentive to our every need. The Best pie I have ever had. Great portions, will definitely be back. Thankyou so much

What a lovely little find. Called in for lunch today and would highly recommend. Callum, the manager was very friendly and welcoming and excellent service off Megs. The menu has a good selection and lunch was delicious (even managed to squeeze in a pudding). I will definitely be returning especially in the summer to enjoy the marvellous views from the outside seating area at the back.

The Sunday dinner that we had was absolutely stupendous. The roasted vegetables were done to perfection. Megan, Ryan and Callum were excellent servers for us today. I would absolutely recommend this for anyone looking for a nice afternoon out.

Went for Christmas dinner here. The service was fantastic. Even small.goody bags for the kids. The food was nice although having chose the Venison it came over cooked and very dry. The rest however was beautiful.

We had Christmas day lunch this year, there was 3 of us and we really enjoyed our day, the atmosphere was fab and very festive, staff were really nice and very attentive especially our waitress Meg, food was really nice and they accommodated 2 vegetarians that asked for something not on the main menu which was really appreciated, the 1 meat eater enjoyed his although did say the beef wellington was slightly over cooked however still ate it and enjoyed it, portion sizes were huge and really good value for money, would definitely recommend and return.

Food was impeccable as always service tremendous too and full value for money will most certainly be back soon

Firstly the car park overlooks part of the Tyne Valley, which in winter looks moody. The pub was warm and the staff were friendly and helpful. I got the king prawns and chorizo and triple cooked chips. My friend got the mushrooms with garlic and triple cooked chips. Salty, spicy chorizo went well with the prawns, bread and chips. We both really enjoyed the triple cooked chips. My only problem with the place is one customer was with friends and constantly and loudly 'F' this and 'F' that. It made the pub seem rough. We questioned whether the swearing man was angry. The locals may be used to it, but as a visitor it can be uncomfortable.

We came here while on holiday from California and I must say that Callum, Grace, Cathryn & Emily were all incredible. They made our dinner very memorable and enjoyable. Service was above & beyond our expectations.

We had the enjoyment of dining there as a party of 16. We found the service exemplary. A special attention was paid to the children and their needs, which left us to enjoy our meal as adults and of course could not have asked for finer food or atmosphere.

The Swan used to be such a lovely place to go to for food, we haven’t been for a while but we decided to go tonight as we’ve just purchased a house nearby and this would be our local. Unfortunately after tonight we won’t be returning. They’ve changed their children’s menu, the children now receive 4 small slices of pizza instead of a pizza, chips and side. The size of the pizza is absolutely mental, we had to ask for extra chips and the price is ridiculous. So sad as it used to be so lovely!

This is the go-to local that my friends and I regularly meet up at for dinner and a catch up. The staff are really friendly and helpful (thank you Grace, Cathryn and Matthew for last Saturday night 😁) Food is delicious and the place has a lovely atmosphere.

Another delicious family meal, we all opted for different mains and all thought they were excellent. Although my daughter was a little upset to only get 2 onion rings with her burger! Ryan our server was polite and efficient. We will be back.

This pub serves largely microwaved “ready meals” in my view. They served us fish cakes that had no fish and looked like supermarket cheapest options. My chicken curry was a curry sauce with a piece of chicken added on top. It’s not inedible but it’s not good and as for other reviews claiming it’s “fantastic” food I find totally unbelievable.

Very warm welcome and friendly service with a bit of banter. Perfect. Pub decorated nicely for Halloween and a good selection of beers as well as a decent cider 🌞 (Can’t always get a nice cider so this was greatly appreciated!) We booked a table for dinner and were allowed to stay in our campervan overnight in their car park. The food was delicious and our server (Sam) was very attentive and friendly. We then stayed for the regular Monday night quiz. We were terrible at it (ha ha!) but it was really good fun with plenty of local banter going on. Would highly recommend!

Popped in for Sunday lunch prior to pumpkin picking! Staff were friendly and welcoming, especially our sever Ryan! I opted for the trio of meats and it did not disappoint even though I was stuffed I still managed a crumble and custard which was so nice! Will definitely be back.

I came in on Sunday for a roast dinner and i was very impressed. Although it was very busy, food was delicious and service was fast. Jennie and Grace were serving us and they were very friendly and welcoming. I recommend for everyone and will be returning myself

Staff Kim and Janet were brilliant.... Surroundings were lovely ... the food was ok, sea bass great but lasagne i thought was overcooked, starters calameri was bland and tastless, duck pizza tasty but again slightly overcooked.... however, overall i enjoyed my visit and would return no problem.

Service was amazing, beer was lovely, food well presented but lacked in flavour and chips weren’t very crispy. Overall very lovely experience in a lovely location though. View outside is gorgeous :)

We often visit this lovely family pub and the service and food is always great but today was exceptionally. Our server was Ryan and he made the whole experience just the best. Popped in for Lunch with my family, from a welcoming smile, through to great food and super service all the staff went out of their way to make our dining experience superb, Janet has a lovely personality and made us all smile. The mini sweets with coffee are great folding a large main course, good for the wallet too.

Helen and I have visited the swan on numerous occasions. And it comes highly recommended.

Lovely setting that sells a good shandy but then there’s the food….the main reason the majority of us go out on a Sunday afternoon. The menu itself sounds great but what you get is far from it. Menus are sold to you by the amazing descriptions that always disappoint. Trio of meat, there was beef, turkey and pork belly but it was the smallest portion accompanied by impossible to eat pork cracking that just tasted of fat, mushy broccoli, roast potatoes that were chewy, over cooked burnt carrots and over salted gravy. The waitress when taking our plates away asked if I wanted to speak to the manager, I declined. It is what it is and money off which we weren’t looking for would not alter the experience. We foolishly chose dessert. Banoffee choux bun with caramelised banana and ice cream. Purely squirting caramel sauce on a banana does not mean they are caramelised and I may as well have gone to the corner shop for a packet of foam banana sweets as the cream inside the choux was illuminous yellow with a repugnant artificial taste. This was my food, it would be a way longer review if I also mentioned my partners choice from the menu. Lost our custom as it’s an expensive £80 to be let down.

We booked a table here for 6 people on Saturday night, and we absolutely loved it. The food was excellent, the beer was lovely, and the staff were so friendly, accommodating, and welcoming. The service was superb & they even have a separate dining area for people with dogs which we thought was brilliant. The views from the beer garden are superb & there's even a small covered outdoor area with heaters. We will definitely be coming back!

What a fabulous wee village pub with the most amazing views from a lovely beer garden ! We held our daughters baby shower here on Saturday 7 th September,accommodating approx 26 people , the staff could not help us enough , the buffet selection choosen with help from janet the manageress was so lovely great quality and with plenty to go around without ripping out our eyeballs ! The pub itself was spotless clean with accomodating helpful staff Honestly they could not do enough for us and made my daughters day extra special We can not thank you all enough from the bottom of out hearts The Margerison Family xx

We had lunch here with friends midweek, After looking at the good reviews we were very disappointed in our food, all of us had some complaint with different meals, my husband was so disappointed with his so called chicken and vegetable Penang curry, reluctantly he did return the meal as the chicken was dried out and tough and the timbale of rice was a solid clump. Without quibble from the waitress, He decided on the fish and chips as a safe bet, but even this was over cooked.

Great place for a pint- very welcoming staff that proved immensely helpful un sorting a taxi and lovely, comfortable decor Didn't order any food, but menu looked lovely.

This pub is a great spot with a nice view, friendly staff (Kim was especially welcoming), and tasty food. It’s a comfortable place to relax and enjoy a meal with good service. Staff were very thorough and careful with an allergy in our party which is great to see. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Part of the Vintage Group and this is the second time that they have not accepted my loyalty rewards. 1st time a free dessert was not honoured and the second time a free complimentary drink. Do not see the point of the Loyalty rewards scheme if they are not being honoured. Don't think that we will be returning in the future. Not one for 3rd time lucky !

We had our wedding reception here. The room was beautiful the staff allowed me to come in the night before hand to set up the room, they also helped me to set up and adjusted all the tables. The service on the day was outstanding we had drinks on arrival and where severed our food within an hour of arriving. The food was amazing steak was cooked to perfection and dessert was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. The staff where brilliant and did everything they could to make the day special. I highly recommend The Swan. Lovely place amazing food.

The atmosphere is amazing and the cold drinks saved me after a long hot day on the Hadrian's Wall path. I lost my phone on the Wall and ran back to the Swan. Kim and Janet went out of their way to help me get in touch with my wife back in the States. The regular customers in the pub drove me out to find my phone (miles away). It was due to their kindness that we found the phone, I got to buy pints for the guys in the pub, and enjoy a could cold drinks myself. I will always have great memories of my afternoon at the Swan!

We visited Wed 3rd July at 7pm and the service from the staff especially the young Newcastle support who was excellent. Enjoyed our meals. Great lace to visit and eat. Definitely recommended.
