They do wonderful old fashioned lunches: roasts and liver with veg and proper puddings at very reasonable prices. Friendly efficient service. It's been busy when I have visited. Not particularly vegetarian friendly.

I love this place l ordered mince and dumplings mashed potatoes and all the veg it was brilliant l really enjoyed the meal l had ice cream afterwards which was nice.

What a brilliant find this was, as we don't go to Morpeth often! Proper home cooked food at a decent price and an alcohol license too. Lovely staff, and very popular as there was a queue when we left.

have been going here as a family for our Sunday dinner for a few years now, Always good food and value, but I was sorry to hear on my last visit that the bakehouse is up for sale with Mike Rogerson, Just hope whoever buys it keeps up the same standards, well worth a visit.

Great atmosphere, superb food, great price. Outstanding restaurant. 5 star staff, who give you a great welcome, and work hard, to please their customers. You will go far and wide, to find any restaurant, that will come up to, The Old Bakehouse.

Pet friendly outside doesn't count as pet friendly especially when is cold and raining outside 😂 food OK however no other milk alternative so couldn't have coffee and they only take cash which is a super inconvenient.

Great cafe. Homemade food very tasty. This is my go to place for lunch in Morpeth.

The classic main meals were perfectly prepared, well priced and delicious! and because the chef was on the premises they were able to answer ingredients-questions more broadly than just the 14 key allergens. The portions we had were *very* generous... (possibly, as it was late afternoon, they gave us extra knowing there would be no customers after us). Open 9-4 seven days, the Old Bakehouse is tucked away through one of the old carriage-arches off the main street. This made its outdoor seating quiet, sunny and free from passing traffic. We plan to return to check out more of the menu either for a breakfast (served to 11.30) or main (varying daily, the pies or salmon Wellington looked so tempting). Or maybe a lighter panini to save room for apple pie/ scone/ trifle or lemon meringue pie! They made me happy by stocking decaff tea & the team were alert friendly and attentive. A perfect experience all round, wrapped up by crossing the lane for a zen moment in the community garden opposite. They are a CASH ONLY business with ATMs fairly close.

The staff are very friendly and inviting if you have dogs. Even to the point of a treat for them too. The food was lovely for us. Lemon Meringue pie light and delish. We sat outside and the area was so relaxing. Been many times and will keep going.

Took my husband who's a big breakfast fan there. He absolutely loves it. Price is reasonable as well.

Great little place, especially when the weather is nice to sit outside in amongst all the flowers. Amazing service, and good food. Very reasonably priced too. Would definitely recommend.

Busy place we only waited 5 mins though as other diners were ready to leave. An excellent experience, quick service we had a delicious lunch and purchased sweets to bring home as they looked too nice not to. Lovely friendly staff.

Really friendly staff. Breakfast was great value, very filling and served quickly. Staff suggested they will look after bikes for cyclists. However, keep in mind that on our visit they accepted cash only though a cash point is very close. Lovely place to eat. Wife and I tried both the veggie and non veggie breakfasts. We were very pleased with both.

Good simple tasty food, roasts when we were there. Very good value, The service was friendly but a little chaotic, possibly because it is so popular, especially with locals.

This is a small coffee shop and restaurant that serves traditional British style food, eg. Mince and dumplings; roast pork, turkey and beef; traditional puddings at reasonable prices. The full English Breakfast is well worth the money. It is busy throughout the day - seven days per weekvery but is particularly popular on Sundays. We love this place for the food, excellent customer care and value for money. Lisa and her team make you really feel welcome. Highly recommended.

I ordered tea and a slice of cake. The cake was very fresh and lovely and the pot of tea was quite big. Only negatives is our server forgot to bring milk for my pot of tea and the table we had was so wonky due to different size legs it could almost qualify as a seesaw. It was quite distracting as it kept rocking back and forwards.

AVOID I always like local cafes for breakfast or a quick bite but this is not one of them places. Firstly I have no idea how they have obtained a 5 on there hygiene scale. Dirty place mats and grime on the cutlery. But the toilet is the worst thing. I appreciate a small cafe having a shared toilet and that is absolutely fine. However when there is a shared hand towel for anyone who uses the toilet thats a no go. The food was drab with no real presentation. I had a full breakfast which felt like everything had been covered in a barrell of grease. Poor toast and felt there was no quality to the ingredients. This place is very outdated and needs to modernise desperately what business doesn't take card payments in 2022. Another cafe among Morpeths dying ageing town centre.

A regular spot for us in years gone by we now live abroad so this was the first visit for a while. Happily nothing much has changed. Bustling and friendly, the offering is traditional comfort cooking, sandwiches and cakes. We both went for pie. Gorgeous melt in the mouth steak, delicious crusts, and four fresh vegetables with generous gravy. Great value at £7.95. There's a lot to be said for a business that knows what they want to do and then do it very well. All the tables were full and deservedly so; the food is fantastic. Just one small gripe. Cash only used to be a bit quirky, but in 2022 is simply irritating. Most youngsters don't carry much cash; we don't and we're in our 70s and pay for almost everything by Gpay. Fortunately we has a few quid on us but they need to embrace change.

Great tasting food and excellent value

I love this little gem tucked away behind Newgate Street in Morpeth. You can always guarantee a lovely, good wholesome, home cooked traditional meal. The reason I've given 4 stars for service is when it's busy you tend to have to wait, but when the ladies attend to your table they're always so helpful and friendly. It's generally always busy, this speaks volumes, but it can get steamy and the tables are quite close together, so you can often hear everyone's conversation. I'll definitely return again and again as it's fantastic value.

First time I've been to the old bakehouse the food was fabulous all home cooked and good portions had to be one of the best roast dinner ever??? staff were very friendly and helpful I would definitely recommend it if your ever in Morpeth I certainly will be eating there again👍👍👍

Visiting morpeth found this place Friday had breakfast excellent ! It was so good went again Sunday and again it was excellent quality food well cooked nice waitress what's not to like we will be back in 3 months for another visit to morpeth and definitely back here for food

Hi this place is great , very clean and food was tasty. best thing is the staff they make you feel so welcome.

Nice but slightly cramped Service can be slow when busy.

Warm Coke, no ice available. Warm juice, served from plastic cups. Unfriendly waitress who just put the tray on the table and left instead of actually serving us our drinks. Wouldn’t return. Such a shame because it looks like a charming place in a great spot.

Good honest grub at a more than fair price, but that price must be paid in cash, no cards accepted. Reminded me of going round a mate’s house for tea, that mate that everyone wanted to visit as his / her mum was always cooking something delicious. Corned beef pie was excellent, as were the vegetables, the gravy was out of this world. Denise enjoyed her quiche, I didn’t get the chance to sample a piece for the sake of this review, so it must have been good. Denise had a soft drink, I had a coffee which was excellent. All this for less than 20 quid, I can see why this place is so popular.

Went this morning sat outside for 15 mins waiting to be served saw one of the waiters said she would be a minute kept waiting still no service . Eventually a waiter came a nd served a couple who arrived after me I gave up More attention needed to people sat outside

Never fails to be a tasty treat. One of Morpeth hidden gems for great old fashioned food - roast dinner any day of the week. There is not really an official kids menu but they will make kids anything for a very fair price. On a cold day their hot puddings are a must. Only down side is it a cash only so make sure you bring your pennies.

Stopped for coffee and cake on Easter Monday. Very nice and the waiter was lively bringing treats gor our dog Just nake sure you have cash though as its cash only, I had to run to the cash point 😆

This is the best cafe food and we loved our prawn salad and panini. There's a great special board not to be missed.

Excellent service and the home made Steak Pie was delicious. The jacket potato is cooked in the microwave and in my opinion paying just short of £6.50 for one, these should be baked. Otherwise a very pleasant lunch experience.
