Food is great here! I have recently eaten here 4-5 times and have yet to be disappointed. Bottomless brunch was great value, midweek lunch was fab- especially the cauliflower soup! Sunday lunches are gorgeous, and the staff are friendly! Would definitely recommend.

Birthday treat with daughter and granddaughter for Sunday lunch,2 lamb and 1 veggie meal ordered only waited about 10 minutes ,its one of the best roasts I've had in restaurant really lovely. Top marks.

Just called in for a pint instead of just passing, looks like a popular place to eat. Stopped off on a Wednesday evening about 6ish, restaurant end maybe just over half full, on leaving it was full so if you fancy trying a meal there I would recommend booking if you're going at popular times. Beer garden to the side, good bar area and ample parking at the front. June 2024 called in for food again after 2yrs, still as good as before, friendly staff, good chef. Wheelchair accessible.

We were given two £30 gift vouchers for this place. Unfortunately we ran over the expiry date by three days. A brief telephone call quickly established they would not honour the gift vouchers only three days over the date. Desperate for the £60 is the only conclusion.

Went for Sunday lunch yesterday after being recommended. Was very busy. Food was nice, sfaff seemed friendly and helpful. All was going OK till the girl serving us dropped a large glass of wine on the table glass cards flying into mine and my daughters dinners and soaking me to the skin. She apologised and I was offered another dinner but there was no way I could plough myself through another full dinner. Unfortunately I was wearing jeans so had to sit for the rest of the meal soaking wet. When the bill arrived the young lad said we've knocked one of the puddings off by means of an apology I didn't really think this was good enough so the manager was sent over who took the 2 main courses off. To sum up the food is nice but the customer service leaves alot to be desired they really should have someone at front of house that is better at their job and knows how to speak to customers. I response to the owner saying I scathed the young girl. I was more referring to the manager who didn't seem bothered at all and didn't offer anything until questioned. Perhaps if you read reviews properly you won't get the wrong end of the stick! There is slander of the young girl and I fully understand accidents happen I actually felt sorry for her. I don't really think the customer having to ask what was going to be done after 2 main courses were soaked with wine and littered with glass shards is a bit unacceptable.

The main meal was good,the pudding was good, although it took a while to get it.the mens toilets could do with a good clean.overall it was alright but a bit dearer than other places.

they only had one steak left it was only 12.30 lunch time my husband had that which was ok except he had to change his sauce choice as they only had peppercorn my mother had fish and chips which was cold . my grandson who wanted steak had to have the burger it was passable. I had the soup sandwich and cake the soup was not ever tepid it was cold the sandwich I chose cheese and pickle they had no pickle so I opted for red onion chutney it was horrible with stale cheese and the cake Victoria sponge was so so dry was.a.slice of Costco cake which is nice when fresh it must have been days old £74 disgraceful

Lovely presentable welcoming pub usually. Attended with my daughters for an evening meal. I often visit. We ordered at 17.57PM Within happy hour. A young chap (Callum) serving took his time to serve which is fine. However due to the delay in serving us I was told it was now after 1800PM when he rang our order through we did not qualify for happy hour on our drinks . When challenged polity his response with no apology was that “well it only applies to drinks whats the problem Clearly he did not attend charm school and unfortunately has lost the owner our custom in the future . Silly chap, shame , we really enjoyed this outlet. MG

We went for Sunday lunch today for my Grandad's birthday. The starters were alright, the Sunday dinners were bland and the vegetables were raw. But worst of all, the service was horrendous. The first main came out 10 mins before the last. I asked for gravy initially when it started coming out, mainly because we had already waited longer than you'd expect for the drinks, starter and then taking the plates away. In response, a blonde female staff member abruptly stated she would bring it when the food came out. Okay, I can forgive that - maybe she's under pressure, no problem. The mains and the gravy were served, (at which point they were starting to get even colder because of the delay and given the food came out lukewarm at best). When she served the last main I asked the same blonde woman for some mint sauce if possible as my grandad wanted some. She very rude in response, saying "I've already told you, I'll bring it out when the food is out", giving me a hacky look after muttering ffs. I'm sorry but what was her issue? The food was all out, isn't that the typical time people ask for additional condiments? I asked her why she was being so rude as it didn't make sense to me. She then ignored me and asked everyone else if they'd like any condiments. It ruined the already pretty bad meal, and regardless no one checked how the food was and she gossiped in the corner very obviously. I'm autistic and have adhd. I sometimes don't say things at the exact right second, or in the exact way people want, and I apologise if that was the case, but honestly I don't see anything wrong with what or how I asked. So for her (who I later found out is the manager) to be so rude and hostile because I've asked for some sauce and then go gossip in the corner while repeatedly staring at me is honestly vile, discriminatory and ableist. I'll never be coming here again and I recommend everyone else not to go either. Way to make someone feel like crap just because they aren't able communicate in the exact way you want 👍🏼

Food was really good would return

The pub appeared decent with friendly staff and good service, but the rooms were far from satisfactory. Peeling paint on the walls and excessive mold in the bathroom made the experience quite unpleasant. The only positive aspect was returning the key the next day to leave. Wouldn't return and wouldn't recommend to anyone

Went for a quick Sunday dinner but honestly wish we hadn't bothered. Dinner was lukewarm at best which is an analogy for COLD. Desert was warm but with added unripe white strawberry which was bitter ..kinda the same as the managers attitude towards the problems. You don't have to take my word for it but I would do yourself a favour and go elsewhere. This week we went to The Cherry Tree instead. Dinner piping hot and staff extremely pleasant. Much better value too but of course there are lots of other places nearby that are better than our Half-moon experience. Take care everyone Tim

Have eaten here many times and had various options from the menu, everything is always well presented and very tasty. Sunday lunches are exceptional. We eat out a lot and tend to compare gastro pubs with here, so far the half moon wins every time. All in all it’s a great pub, all staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful.

Have always supported this local as want to see it succeed but unfortunately they've become far too full of self importance and after months of issues can not support any longer. Advertise serving Sunday lunch until 8pm but 2 out of 4 meats unavailable at 6.30....not a problem, like every visit will order from what is available and not see it as a negative. Food excellent as is service from the waitress. After food ,collect a cocktail menu to be told look at what you might want but might not can do some. Upon querying this is due to a problem with the ice machine. On a previous occasion was told no cockatils as issue with ice machine to then hear bar staff admit they sometimes say ice machine is broken and no cocktails available when the bar is busy as cocktails are time consuming. Ongoing issues between serving meals outside. Staff advise garden menu only to be served outdoors. Available tables indoors literally at the other side of the wall where the normal menu would have been served. Managers excuse that can't serve to full capacity indoors and out. This would make sense had it not been for multiple indoor tables that the full menu could have been ordered from about 6ft from the outdoor table. Tables in the bar can be reserved which takes away the option to pop into the local pub for a casual drink. Arranged to meet for a drink at 6pm one Saturday recently with intention to leave by 6.30 to go onwards. Was told could not sit at a table in the bar as it was reserved despite not being reserved until 7.30...one hour after time of departure. The Half Moon has become a venue of rigid rules and lack of customer focus. When raising these points with bar staff and management nobody cared. Bar staff advised 'well go' when advised we would take our custom to a rival pub next week for Sunday lunch. Manager running quiz claimed not to be working when trying to constructively express dissatisfaction.

Came here with family and ordered from lunch menu. Second time I've eaten here and both times have been very disappointing. Ordered corned beef pie. It was burnt and over seasoned with pepper. Not much corned beef and more potato. The chips were OK but only 7 chips on plate. I think it should of been served with peas or something to make it more filling and look more appetising on plate. Staff aren't very friendly either and look very unhappy.

Went for anniversary meal. Food was really nice we opted to order from the original smokehouse bit of the menu. The food was delicious and plenty of it. My only criticism was I found the wooden board a bit narrow so things kept falling off. Next time I think I'd ask for it on a plate maybe. But would definitely go back again.

Went for a family meal didn’t wait long for drinks or food order to be taken everyone enjoyed their meal but no one came back to table to ask if we wanted any drinks deserts or coffees two of the children went to sit at another table to which one of the bar staff came and abruptly told us the table was set for someone else the table had two knives and forks on no reserve sign or napkins it was embarrassing as people from other tables were all looking we removed the children and said we would wipe the table she stormed off as we we were leaving they stood and stared at us no one said goodbye or thank you definitely won’t be returning even though food was lovely can’t excuse the rudeness of your staff
