Well, that was a lovely experience. Easy to book, fab steak night deal, nice wine & a great pint if Guinness according to my husband. The sticky toffee pudding was wonderful and a great price. Wish I'd found you last Thursday instead of going to a mediocre overpriced place nearby. Would I recommend The Caster Arms? Absolutely. Thank you.

Another visit 04/12/24 I had the southern fried chicken chicken burger and my husband had the Beadnell sizzler. The food arrived pretty quickly. The chips I had were the best ever. Hot, crispy and really tasty. I did find the chicken a little dry and the bacon was hard as it was very overcooked but I didn't want to complain as everything else was good. My husband had no complaints at all. It was a little cold when we went in as the doors were open along with the windows and it was a fresh day! We do really like the pub so will definitely return in the not so distant future. Visited again yesterday. Lovely food. The most beautiful flowers decorating the outside of the pub. Fantastic 05/07/22 Love this pub. Had a lunch today. Piping hot food. Generous portions. Tasty. Dog friendly. Clean. Lots of cosy chairs to sink into. Friendly atmosphere. .

Oh dear. Friday night supper for two was so very poor. Basic food that ought to have been a breeze to prepare was in turns burnt, over oiled (#swimming), sparse (anything green) and bland. Unpleasant to eat so left much of it. The atmosphere was tad shambolic, floor dirty, table sticky, cramped seating, service poor. Advice turn around and visit elegant n similarly priced establishment Beadnell Towers for immediately behind you.

We waited over an hour for the blandest Sunday lunches we have ever eaten. Even school dinners are tastier than these. Tasteless meat, watery turnip, plain boiled carrots and peas and the hardest roast potatoes imaginable. Beware you don't break a tooth biting into one of them. Our son chose a panini with chips and this looked lovely. Obviously depends what you order. People waiting all over the place to just get a table. Others waiting for their food to arrive. Not sure what the problem was... lack of staff or too many bookings accepted??? Awful waste of our family holiday time. We couldn't wait to get out. They offered us 20% discount, but we had a voucher for 15% off anyway. So disappointing😕

Many years ago this was a lovely friendly local. Now it is an overpriced ‘fast food’restaurant with zero atmosphere. They would be better having less choice on the menu so they could deliver half decent food. Think large laminated menus and very average food. The staff were so helpful and attentive, even noticing that the sun was in our eyes, so pulled the blinds down a little to keep the sun out. The food (Steak pie) was out of this world!! And deserves the hype they write about it on the menu. We're hoping to go back again before the end of our holiday. 10/10

Me and the family tried The craster arms for the first time last night it was absolutely gorgeous! Staff were friendly and accommodating and the food was delicious. Service was also fairly quick. As for the outdoor dining area, we chose to sit in one of the sheds they have. Great idea if you want a bit of privacy but still want to be amongst the atmosphere. Dead cosy and such a wonderful and unique idea! I had the seafood linguine and it was by far the best I’ve tried. The portions were generous and there was plenty to choose from on the menu! Think this will be a go to pub for us from now on whenever we’re up at the coast. Thank you😊

Booked for a birthday meal for 4 people. Very busy on arrival and good atmosphere, however despite being shown to our seats quickly our food had still not arrived 45 mins later with no communication from the waitress. We finally got the attention of the waitress who said there was a big table before us to be served and then us. With over an hour’s wait for food that was pretty mediocre when it arrived in comparison to previous visits, disappointing is an understatement! The chicken Caesar salad was particularly poor - I think they had taken a trip to Aldi to purchase a packet of sliced roast chicken breast to add rather than a freshly cooked sliced chicken breast I had expected. We were then avoided with no-one checking with us how the food was (that I had noticed happening on other tables). Interestingly the tables either side who had only just arrived got their food 10 mins after we got ours. A really bad experience for us all - 20% knocked off the bill which was appreciated but not really making up for our loss of a fantastic meal experience - will not return.

Very sad to have to write this but I was having a bar meal with friends (all ladies in 60s and 70s). After finding what appeared to be a long hair in the pie of one of our meals. I pointed it out to a waiter to tell him. He approached the manager (Andreas) who, looked over to us then took his time getting to us. He eventually agreed there was something in the food and took the meal away. He came back to tell us it was a long thread from a carrot and did offer a new meal but having been (understandably) put off, my friend just asked for fresh chips and gravy. On getting the bill, later, he took off £3.50 of the £17.50 meal. I asked again for the manager and pointed out that we were essentially paying £14 for chips and gravy which I didn't think was a fair price. He then started to argue about the percentage of the pie my friend had eaten before discovering the 'hair'. He claimed she had eaten 75% (not true) as though we were trying to cheat him into getting a cheap meal! We were fully expecting to pay for the food she had but to be honest I would have expected him to be more apologetic. I am actually disgusted by his attitude and will not be returning.

We popped in here for some dinner on Tuesday 25th June . We were so disappointed as I ordered a jacket potato with coronation chicken and my partner ordered a burger with chips. When it arrived my jacket looked good until I tasted it. The filling was like no other coronation I'd ever had or made myself, it was super sickly and overpowering (repulsive infact). The potato itself was like a manufactured one it wasn't pleasant at all. I ate about three mouthfulls and left it. Nobody checked our table to ask if everything was ok or would we like any desserts or anything. I really should've taken meal back to bar. My partner had a burger with chips in a basket and even that was very underwhelming. There was no salad garnish, coleslaw or anything else decorating the plate HONESTLY!!! Who in their right minds would pay top dollar for an evening meal that wouldn't even satisfy the smallest of appetites. Two pints later a young chap came to clear table and I explained about the jacket potato. He spoke to the chef and asked if we would like some more food I said no thanks and he gave me a free drink. The prices here for food are steep but the food is substandard. On the plus side if I was just reviewing the bar itself I would give this review five stars as the bar is lovely and a great outside seating area with sports screens . Not only that but a lot of attention to the decor has been taken and the flower pots are beautiful.

We booked a table for 6.30 with our grandson, promptly shown to our table and orders taken soon after, grandson had scampi, no complaints from him. Myself & my husband both had ribeye steak, it was full of fat and a real disappointment, then to really top the disappointment off, we received our bill which should have been just under £80 but there were several other items added to it which took the amount to just under £150, over £70 added for items that we did not have. Pointed the mistake out to a waitress, who rectified the matter with a new bill, to then go to the bar to pay said bill and the young bar man was quite rude and asked if we were only paying part of the bill so then had to explain to him what had happened. No apology or anything from them. Will not return.

Pork belly had tempted me but I swerved, friend had that and said it was most excellent. Crackling was superb. Berthdi gal had an adapted starter a fishcake, they slung some chips and vega with it. Shared a pud - lovely salted caramel ice cream and honeycomb, finished with coffee. Our dog loved it, met loads of new friends and then settled under the table. We were in Rothbury to have the Sunday Carvery ,which was excellent! (Will definitely come back).and also to suss out places to have an alcoholic drink in the evening. We had already found where to have a coffee and scone the day before. My husband and myself were staying in Amble for a weeks holiday. Myself and eight friends are staying in Rothbury the beginning of September. The ambience and staff were fantastic in the Newcastle House Hotel.Thank you to Kelly for all the information regarding my return visit in September.Very much appreciated.
