The Swan in Warrington

What a lovely place! We came for an evening meal and then breakfast the following day. The evening meal was fantastic and the kids meals were better than the usual meals offered to kids. Service was amazing in the evening, happy staff looked like they enjoyed working here and the place had a lovely atmosphere to it. Breakfast the next morning was outstanding! I find cooked breakfasts are usually all the same but they were definitely a cut above here. Maggie was the chef at the time and I’ve got to say I’ve never tasted a nicer cooked breakfast. Continental breakfast available and all high quality food. Service was excellent! We were looked after by Steph who was super cheerful, helpful and on the ball making sure everyone was looked after and all tables cleaned promptly. We will definitely be back, thank you.

Staying at the premier inn so nipped in because the customer I’m working for recommended this place for food I travel a lot with my job so I’m always away so I can honestly say this place is quality for food and all staff are really nice Steph the manager is really welcoming and it’s a place that is organized the food is proper tasty and cooked well reasonable prices I’ll definitely come back for food

From when we entered the door, the staff were so lovely, helpful and created a great atmosphere. The food was amazing! We both had mains from the specials and they were truly amazing. Our sever Jake R was so sweet and made our meal so much better. Can’t wait to return :)

We love coming to The Swan! The atmosphere is cozy, the food is great, and Ebony is always a friendly face. She is incredibly helpful, friendly, and makes us feel so welcome. Would definitely come back and would highly recommend.

Friendly staff, excellent service and large portions of quality food. Several vegan options available which is akways a plus for me! Can't fault it, definitely recommend. Thank you Tina for being a lovely server.

Whilst staying at the adjacent Premier Inn we enjoyed both evenings in The Swan. On our final evening we were welcomed by Laura, who was a fantastic host for the entire evening. We originally ordered some food that had become unavailable due to the busy Easter weekend. Laura allowed us plenty of additional time to choose another option. Her and the other members of the teams' overall service were exceptional, as was the Cod and chips we ate. Desserts were incredible. All food is reasonably priced. The Mixed Grill and Sausage and Mash we had the previous night were also fantastic. Overall a great experience and thanks again to Laura for her patience and professionalism throughout the evening. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

We have visited the Swan on several occasions and always find the food and service excellent. It's our favourite pub offering great food and service. We last visited on Saturday 19/04/2025 and thoroughly enjoyed our family meal. A special thanks to Steph and Dalton for the lovely time that we had. Dropped in for lunch. Service was exceptional from Laura, food was great and overall atmosphere lovely for a Saturday afternoon.

Three times we've been in the last 2 months and without a booking, got turned away (despite there being plenty of empty tables). Third time (now I understood why) made a booking but it was the worst experience ever. Waited ages to be seated (and watched other people stand and wait ages too on arrival). Had to sit at a table that was full of the previous people's left over food and drink (outside table). When I went in to order at the bar, stood waiting for ages again- barman came and saw me, said he's be a minute and continued to wait until another person finally came and served me. I ordered the gammon and my hubby the mixed grill - the gammon in the mixed grill was bigger than mine. Won't be dining here again.

A lovely pub with a great menu. What lets it down is the lack of staff. The staff are very good but there's always too few on. It's a big pub so staff members have a lot of customers to look after. On the last two visits, I've had to go looking for staff to place orders or ask questions. On every visit I've made, I've had to wait for a good while at the door to be greeted and then seated. I know profit margins in the industry are tight and staffing seems to have reduced across the board but the service level here seems particularly poor despite having diligent experienced staff.

Celebrated an 80th birthday here. Couldn’t have chosen better. Ollie our waiter was really friendly, checking in regularly with us, taking photos and providing a great service. The food was prompt, delicious, hot and tasty. Highly recommended.

Terrible just terrible. For starters the wait for getting a seat was 5-10 minutes. We ordered the crispy chicken burger which took 30-50 minutes to get there, the quality of chips and burger was cold and very few. We also got a sorbet which to half an our and it had no flavour and was pretty much ice.

Service was very slow but was quite busy. Chicken strips & Halloumi Fries were heavily fried & really quite greasy. Was ok.

All staff were friendly and welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us. The Swan pub is like a country cosy cottage and there is loads of outdoor space for drinks in warmer weather but we sat inside. Oliver was our server and was so friendly and helpful, he was such a lovely fella and gave recommendations for food and drinks. Although he was young Oliver seemed a total natural at his job and made sure everyone at our table was comfortable and happy. Would definitely go back.

Nice place. Interior may be in need of renovation in the coming years, but not too bad. Food was decent. Service was also decent, but room for improvement. Staff were very pleasant but while some staff seemed rushed off their feet, others sauntered aimlessly, although this could mean that they were simply in training. After initially posting, I received a nice reply from Stephanie (GM) and so will definitely come again. It seems to me to be a business that is trying hard to improve.

I’ve visited The Swan multiple times, and every time, Ebony has been an absolute star. She’s friendly, attentive, and always serves with a smile. Whether she’s behind the bar or waiting tables, she goes above and beyond to make sure customers are happy. Her warm and welcoming attitude makes the experience even better. It’s clear she takes pride in her work, and it shows in the great service she provides. She needs a pay rise! If you’re heading to The Swan, you’ll be in great hands with Ebony! Highly recommend.

We celebrated my Dad's birthday on 13th March 2025. The food was excellent and the staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly. We would like to pass our particular thanks to Patrick who served us all evening. He was attentive, helpful and professional. Can't wait for our next visit.

We would've had a great time, but we were served cold uncooked food, it was a disaster, and the chicken strips were shoelaces.....We complained The staff were brilliant 👏 didn't pay for it so not a bad pub at all. Just didn't get to try the food 😒

Visited the Swan with my sister for the first time today and it was absolutely amazing. The food was delicious (I had lasagne and my sister had the steak and ale pie followed by cheesecakes for dessert). The staff were so friendly and welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us (it did get quite full towards the end of our visit which meant we waited a little while for desserts but this was to be expected). The vibe of the pub is like a country cosy cottage and there is plenty of outdoor space for drinks in the summer. I will definitely be visiting a lot more in future, a hidden gem! 🙌🏻

A lovely end to our family day out, followed by an unreal turkey dinner which was 10/10. However the service was appalling, non existent of child friendliness from 1 waiter from the get go. We arrived and our table weren’t ready, which we went to the bar as directed and got drinks but with a 3 & 4 year wanting to sit at a table with their teddies, dolls etc waiters didn’t like it. We finally got seated, ordered and again 2 kids being kids mooching around, speaking to other couples in the restaurant doing no harm we was told if they could stay seated which we listened, we was placed in a square booth with with approx 6 tables and again we ate the girls both got up, we told them to stay near and this 1 waiter was sniffing around for problems, the girls got on a empty table after they had ate and was playing and again we was told ‘can you keep them seated as I’ve got to reset the table as they’ve sat on it’ I also wouldn’t feed my dog the chicken strips they were served with, but moral of the story and a little advice - don’t serve a children’s menu if you can’t tolerate kids being kids, kids in worlds of there own doing zero apart from speaking to the public.

Lovely place, delicious food all cooked with skill and excellent ingredients. And really friendly staff. Olly served us last time and looked after us a real treat.

The staff were friendly and helpful, especially Dalton, who served us. The atmosphere is relaxed. Most of the meals were nice. Unfortunately, the lasagne was dry and mostly pasta sheets. Overall, it was a good experience.

We come from hull 2nd time staying in the premier inn next door, which is perfect very comfortable stay. Second time visiting the swan. The food is gorgeous lovely old style feel to this place, very cosy,warm feel about it, staff very friendly, especially Ellis we thought the butter would be in a separate pot but it came on the bread as my hubby can’t eat butter but it was no problem for Ellis he just changed it no problem nothing was too much trouble definitely will be returning 😍😍👍👍

We called on spec for a late lunch. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The ambience was lovely; comfortable, warm, nice vibe. The menu was excellent. Lots to choose from. We ate off the lunch menu, which was great value and topped it off with a mini dessert and coffee. Highly recommend.

Arrived here very quiet wasn't very buzy at all but asked if we had booked which we hadn't the girl spent time on the table booking system checking if we could be seated bearing in mind it's 4oclock and it's not at all buzy so we sat down she asked if we wanted a drink which we did ordered 2 drinks pint of beer/pint of cider which then sat at the end of the bar we waited and waited and still didn't bring them over after waiting 15mins or more they seated another couple just behind us were still waiting for our drinks she then asked if we were ready to order so I said I've been waiting 25minutes for my drink she said there coming in a minute which I replied they have been sat on the bar for 25mins she pulled a face and went and got them we ordered the lasagne presented nicely but it was so dry and not enjoyable at all apart from the sourdough bread that was main thing we ate for the price of £52 it's awful.

We went to the Swan at Wiinick, because my daughter forgot to book anywhere closer to Newton le Willows for lunch. But this was a nice surprise. Good menu, pleasant atmosphere and very good service by friendly staff . We will definitely return on our next visit to the North West.

We were served by Ellis, and the service was brilliant. Food was lovely and I'd highly recommend.

Absolutely gutted with today’s visit (before I continue with my review I just want to say they did knock 1 of the meals off the bill after complaining). We’ve been before with friends and it was AMAZING, we had the burgers and the lamb shank cottage pie so thought the Sunday dinner would be amazing. Came today and wasn’t greeted for at least 5-10 mins and was stood by the cold doorway with our baby girl. Was taken to our seat and ordered our drinks. First Peroni came and was flat, got a replacement but unfortunately wasn’t much better. We order the 7 hour slow cooked beef rib, that came with ‘garlic and rosemary duck fat potatoes’ which sounded amazing.. until it came and the roasties were aunty Bessie’s at best and definitely hasn’t been cooked long enough, the insides where dry and not hot. The beef short rib was purely fat, my partners couldn’t even touch his. Cauliflower cheese had barely any cheese and the pigs in blankets weren’t nice either. Gutted as our first experience was great. Staff weren’t very friendly either, I appreciate Sundays are busy but not one person had a smile on their face serving or taking orders. Sadly won’t return again after todays but couldn’t knock it the first time.

Myself and 2 friends visited this pub on Friday the 31st of January 2025 on entering the pub looked very nice but there was an overwhelming smell of burning incense. We were directed to a table by a waiter who seemed very blazè. A young lady took our order and whilst waiting my throat started to feel so sore from the overpowering smell of incense one of my friends felt exactly the same and my other friend said her eyes were really stinging. The food arrived and was just ok. The gammon was really small with a chunk of pineapple and a snotty white egg.....yuk! The pie was nice but the portion size was small considering the price. When the waiter eventually came back I asked him what the strong incense smell was because it was hurting our throats and eyes so much. Without any acknowledgement or concern about how we felt he said they had an open fire and burned perfumed logs and that he didn't even notice it anymore as he walked away. We asked someone else for the bill but after waiting 25mins we got up and went to pay at the bar. No one asked us if everything was OK and I myself suffered a very sore throat for 3 days. I have a lot of allergies and think the pub should consider this before forcing people to breathe in overpowering fragrances. Because of this we would not return or recommend.

The place was beautifully decorated and festive. Thr staff were attentive. The festive menu was mediocre 😕 had the turkey for main and Christmas pudding for dessert, have to say it's the worst dessert ever!!

Lovely meal here again today. We came on new year's day and liked it so much we came for my birthday today. Great quality food, lovely staff.
