Lovely food had a very long wait

Nice food. Till service can be a bit slow when busy.

The Swan in under new management and I must say, we were very impressed, Rebecca was a fantastic host and kept us updated, it’s was lovely to see someone that was concerned about her customers, will definitely be going back .

Monday afternoon / evening thought would be quiet which it was but jheeze 1 and a half hours for kids pasta and fish fingers parents waiting still. gone to bar for refund waste of flipping time angry wife. Thank you swan !!

Came in for dinner and was greeted by josh who was so friendly and helpful. My food was spot on. will definitely be back and would recommend to anybody.

I have visited before but to hear it was under new management I thought to go in, the food was amazing and didn’t wait to long for it at all, the staff were lovely to talk to as well,

Had a realy nice visit, the pub looks realy nice and fresh.

We have been in Newbury visiting recently. Last year went here to find it closed due to lack of staff. Today went at 19.45 to be told food finished. Web page should make that clear. Also drinks menu makes no mention of beers or larger! As a shareholder in m&b all very disappointing not surprising Spoons are doing better!

At first, we thought the Swan was a lovely place for people to spend their time with family and friends. We ordered our food, it came in a reasonable time, and then it happened... A fly was on our table, going into glasses and on plates. Can't say I saw really impressed with this, as flies have a tendency to leave their waste on our food. And, to top of off, someone was unconscious on the bar floor, making my children uncomfortable. Really hope that you can learn from this traumatic experience. xx

I came in Sunday with my family and had a delicious meal even tho they didn’t have pineapple for the gammon it was still delicious and the pudding was very nice but couldn’t eat it all

I ordered a really delicious chicken Tikka masala with rice. Really yummy. The manager was polite and asked if I had any allergies. It was busy but the wait was short. Really happy with the restaurant experience.

I love coming here for Sunday lunch. Lovely dog friendly restaurant that serves good quality decent priced food . Always welcomed by the pleasant And friendly manager and always served by equally friendly waiting and bar staff

Ignored for 15 minutes waiting to be seated to then be told no bookings being taken as no staff in to serve food. Ridiculous for a Sunday, it wasn't even busy, and would've appreciated being told when we walked in.

Had the most amazing fish and chips - so fresh and great value - staff are all very professional and had great service!! Wished we lived locally as we’d be back often and regularly!

Really great fish and chips, would have again and again: Good portion, nice and crispy batter, fresh, tasty and hot. Lasagne was ok, but wasn't great, could do with better sheet pasta and beschamel sauce. Mon to Fri main meal special for two is really great value for money. Super friendly staff 😎👌🏻 Cocktail specials look good on paper, will need to come back to sample them.

Great Visit, will definitely be back! Served by a trainee who was overseen by the manager and served very quickly and courteously, food was delicious and served in a timely manner! All staff members were very polite, patient and couldn’t do enough to help. Amazing all round service, coming back very soon!

Booked a table online last minute for myself and husband. Ordered food quickly even with a young girl training. Food came out hot and full of flavour. I had the gyros and my husband the ultimate curry plate which he thoroughly enjoyed. Ordered drinks from table which came at a reasonable wait time as seemed busy. Staff are always friendly and cheerful.

Good value for money and the food was amazing. Also every member of staff was welcomeing. 100% want to come back again

Nice place,rubbish food app that doesn't work nearly walked out because of it...worth presavaring with as the food was good. Great young lad with pinkish hair behind bar knows his job well. Would call again if in the area.

I came here the other night , had fish and chips the food was amazing , the service was amazing and I highly recommend it to anyone who is in Newbury. The atmosphere was absolutely fantastic the staff was helpful and helped me decide my choices.

Came in for a meal with my partner and family. The food came out in good time and the food was really tasty. Would come back again.

Manager rude. Does not acknowledge customers or greet them. Very unfriendly. Furniture also in disrepair. seats collapsing.

Staff were very friendly but the service was let down by the time it took for our food to arrive. 1 hour it took and the pub was not busy. After 50 minutes we enquired about our food only to be told it was being plated up and then it didn't arrive for another 10 minutes. This was on a quiet Tuesday evening. Very disappointed.

Waited over an hr for food ,want told how to order,when food finally arrived chips were cold ,other bits of food charred ,daughter ordered a medium rare ,when served it still had a pulse lol

Good sizzling dishes, reasonable prices. Child friendly. More variety in the veg with sizzling dishes would be nice. Only had onions and peppers. Food arrived quickly. Had a free drink with the sizzling app although staff took payment before I could use the reward scheme. I will make sure to use it next time.

I’m so sorry but my visit was so bad they didn’t have the food we ordered 3 times then when we got food hour later 1 from are party got the wrong order and waited a further half hour I don’t no if changed staff again but 2 party’s of four walked out because they didn’t have any food they ordered this was so appalling this visit and has put me off going back such a shame used to love going here

Bad experience. First off waited 45 for main course even though they only had 2 tables in. When it came out it was not very nice. When we had finished we had to wait over 25 minutes before we went to get a refund on our dessert as the girl behind the bar was too busy feeding herself and on her phone. Sad to say we won’t be coming back after about 4 years of being amazing and coming very regularly. Massive disappointment

Didn't even get chance to try food and drinks as when we turned up they said they couldn't accommodate 9 of us as they have a large party of 14 booked😩 Definitely won't be trying this place again.

The meet and great, is a massive pro- I come here with family, for either food or drinks and it’s one of the best restaurants I’ve been to! The staff are so welcome and friendly that it’s rude to not ever return again, I see they often take in a large amounts of tables which is cool! the regulars are very nice people to talk to! Thankyou so much! I recommend in the long run! Foods fab so is the staff, best sizzler yet ❤️

Came for an anniversary meal, and can’t fault it, the staff are really friendly and helpful, Lewis and Charlie was very helpful and made us laugh throughout the night. The food was amazing and was quick being brought out, the restaurant has a good atmosphere and was really quiet when we arrived, they are also very accommodating to young children, would 100% recommend.

Visited this venue after some retail therapy found a table decided what we wanted to order and then on visiting the bar was told no walk ins, all tables are booked. There was no notice to say this, but i am glad i didnt stop there for food because the place seemed quite run down. It was quiet on first visit and then after I had found another pub to serve us great food this pub was still looking dead with no atmosphere on my way back past.

The chicken was very dry and chewy , also waited 50 minutes for deserts and there was only 2 tables that was having food , so there should of not been a delay on doing deserts as they had already had there meals

I really like this pub and restaurant I never had food here. I simply enjoyed the nice atmosphere of the place and I will call nxt few weeks more cos I work in the area atm. Staff are polite and good customer service . Newbury is a nice place and this establishment do a good job and services are very good..

The team there today were fantastic, they were very helpful and empathetic with mine and my mum’s specific dietary needs. I can imagine it’s quite a pain to have us as customers! 😂 But throughout they were very helpful and the food was great!

I was looking forward to my meal only to be extremely disappointed ...... As the chief had put salt on our chips NOT EVERYONE LIKES SALT I was told by my gran you can add salt, but you can't take it off of a meal

It says in the price , it’s cheap and cheerful! But other than that it’s a good deal and a decent pub

Where do I even begin absolutely disgraceful. Rude unhygienic and disgusting avoid like the plague!! Arrive with my family on a far from busy Tuesday early evening to be greeted by no staff to sit us down once self seated we ordered through the app which came to a total of £50 which I think is far from negotiable 1. We had managed to eat our entire starter by the time anybody had though about making our drinks and when they finally made it to the table there was no ice the glasses were definitely not cleaned as you could still see the last person drink marks in the glass which is far from acceptable then for mains I orders the hunters chicken and from someone who has been a sous chef for the past 6 years I think it is appalling then to make it even worse the supposed “cook” forgot to put bacon in the hunters chicken which is one of the main parts of the dish and it wasn’t even a chicken breast it was a cut off mini fillets from the breast and it was thrown onto the plate absolutely disgusting and no worth a single penny of what I paid resulted in walking out leaving half of our meals on the table must avoid and more than disappointed absolutely horrified

Always good service at reasonable prices and speedy delivery of food. It is a pub so it can get loud later on for the children but go in earlier and there aren’t any issues.

A bit of a mixed bag with the Swan. Previously when we've visited the food has been good, hot, and fresh. On our most recent visit the food was just "ok" nothing explicitly wrong but not well cooked, variable in terms of temperature of items and just generally not great. Drinks wise, as a fan of tap ales it's a shame to not have any, although I do understand why if it's not selling. Staff wise, they team have been friendly and welcoming at all times.

An hour wait on a normal weekday day when most people are at work
