Great when it's not full of children running around. There's a play area, but kids are let to run around everywhere by their parents, and it's apparently seen as normal. Lovely otherwise, but don't come on a weekend!

The Sussex Arms is a fantastic spot for a lively night out. The live music was top-notch, adding to the buzzing and welcoming atmosphere. It was busy, but in the best way—plenty of energy without feeling overcrowded. I ordered a burger with pulled pork and chips, and it did not disappoint. The burger was juicy, the pulled pork added a rich, smoky flavor, and the chips were perfectly crispy. A great combo for a proper pub meal! If you're looking for a place with great food, live music, and a friendly crowd, The Sussex Arms is definitely worth a visit.

Roast was disappointing. Said leg of lamb, but was two rubbish slices. Had to ask for the mint sauce. My friend had pork, and the apple sauce did not even arrive (says on the menu the roasts come with the pairing sauces). We had to sit outside, so food went cold straight away. Heaters weren’t on when we arrived. Coke/pepsi was flat. The time before that, I had pie & mash. But it came with chips instead, which were soggy from the gravy, and the tiniest bit of broccoli which was just like a garnish. Won’t be eating here again

Best selection of draft I've seen, would love to go on a non match day to enjoy all of them but try a different ale every time I go. Nice big garden and plenty of space to watch the rugby on the TVs. Great on a match day as not as busy as other pubs that are closer to the stadium/station but still good atmosphere and a nice walk to Twickenham through the park.

Customer service fell down completely on a recent trip to the Sussex. My dad ordered our food at the bar - my order being a rare fillet steak as part of their Steak Night promotion. When my meal turned up it was cooked medium. I returned it and said I had ordered rare. What followed was a stand off at our table between staff - who were adamant the order was medium - and my dad - who was adamant he had ordered rare. Staff (both serving and supervision) had no interest or intention of resolving the issue. When we had to specifically ask for a replacement meal to end the ongoing and awkward back and forth, we were told that there were no more fillet steaks left. I was about to order something else, when we were then told that there was one more so a replacement could be made. This was probably cooked to medium rare, but by that point I was too hungry to complain further and there would be nothing to make good on it either. Mistakes happen, miscommunication happens. Customer service should resolve any issues that arise, but sadly there was no interest in doing that.

Arrived at 1.30 on Sunday for a table booked for 8 people. We were told that they ran out of the sharing roasts. Ruined our lunch and gathering, several people in the group decided not to come because of that. Staff were rude when I asked if there was a waiting time for them to prepare a sharing roast or if it was definitely sold out for the day. When you know that there is a large booking coming for lunch, why did you not prepare for that? When we left, we saw two tables inside that had arrived after us, and they had been giving sharing roasts - maybe they were friends of the bar staff? That was not fair. Also, it was extremely noisy outside, with the sports on full volume, with multiple groups complaining. Additionally, there were children running around the eating area screaming. We will not be returning for Sunday lunch again.

Pub needs to do something about its men's toilets. 3 of 4 urinals flooded on Saturday ahead of the rugby match at Twickenham. Twickenham used to be great for pubs, now sadly they're losing touch ending up as at best mundane, and worst as simple booze dives. This one still has what it takes however. Putting the excellent range of beers (though often interspersed with somewhat trendy 'craft beers' - still a bone of contention for the real ale buffs) to one side for a moment, the pub retains it's original character. Real fires in winter, decent (rather than beautiful) garden for summer. A turntable for music (!) - and then that played at a pleasant volume. Staff are helpful, informed and hard working. Food looks tasety (I haven't tried it but it seems well prepared and unpretentious), and good value for money. Snacks are pricey - but then show me a pub where they aren't. True this is a real ale lovers CAMRA type pub. But the friendly staff and, lets not forget, the friendly, sometimes eccentric, local clientele, make this a welcoming place to go for a quick drink or an evenings relaxation. Well worth a trip.

In a quaint little town, where the locals all cheer, Lives Paul the landlord, with a pint and a beer. At Sussex Arms, he rules with a grin, Pouring joy in a glass, letting laughter begin. With a belly like jelly and a laugh like a bell, He knows every story and every tall tale. “Another round?” he shouts, with a wink and a cheer, While the barflies all nod, “We’ve got nothing to fear!” His pub’s filled with characters, quirky and loud, From the poet with dreams to the shy, blushing crowd. He’ll tell you a joke that’ll make your sides ache, Then serve you a drink that’s not meant for the faint. “Just one more,” says Sue, “it’s a tough week, you see.” “Sure thing,” grins Paul, “but just don’t blame me!” With each clink of glasses, the night rolls on by, As Paul spins a yarn that would make old dogs cry. So here’s to Paul, the pub’s jolly king, With a heart full of laughter and a flair for the zing. In the Sussex Arms, where the stories run deep, He raises a toast to the joy that we keep!

Once a mecca for a wide selection of quality cask ales. Sadly hasn't had the demand to meet it's beer selection for a long time. The atmosphere and staff are almost always worth the visit alone but I wish they'd just have a smaller rotation of ales and ciders that they could rotate in a short time, rather than over 20 that pickle over the course of how ever many days they sit undrunk. A gem of a pub that could do with a bit of fixing up. Wouldn't be the first time in it's long beloved history!

Nicely designed Cafe Nero, so really nice to sit in for a little while. The staff here need a little more help. There's often only 1 person serving, so people have to wait while the poor person on service is rushing around doing multiple orders + deliveries. Whoever is managing this branch should work on the schedule and ensure they have adequate cover.
