Costa Coffee in Richmond upon Thames

Very dirty store, bathroom stank and whole place needed a clean. Not a great Costa

I ordered a hot chocolate with cream. The barista used the left over hot chocolate milk in the jug to make my hot chocolate, even though I requested fresh milk and hot chocolate. When I asked her to please get a fresh jug and milk to make my drink, she started making faces. She then got another jug from the sink which was not washed. She also made my hot chocolate extremely hot and frothy. It was tasteless and I burnt my tounge. She made it frothy so she could use less milk for the drink. She filled the cup all the way to the top but after the while when the froth settled, it was only half a cup even though I paid £4.50 for this drink. Absolutely disgusted with the service. Horrible experience. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone. Barista’s name was Kasiya or something beginning with the letter K. She was maybe Romanian or Polish.

Nice people serving. Bought a Frappuccino as a treat. Not super icy when drinking it but couldn’t go back due to roadworks. Tasted nice but ended up with two large chunks of ice at the bottom. Tried to ring to warn them that the machine wasn’t working properly or maybe the person had not done the blending for long enough but it is impossible to contact the shop or company by phone. Not very happy with no customer service on the phone.

Not usually a fan of chain-coffee-shops, but I tried their frappe on this visit and as long as you're careful to avoid brain-freeze, they're very nice. Just don't ask how many calories are in that glass!

I rushed to get here before 18:30 close (Clearly stated online AND on the door). I arrived at 17:58 and was REFUSED a takeaway coffee by the South Asian staff member. Reason for closing ealy: Because they need half an hour to clean. This was delivered in an abrupt way which made me feel like I was in the wrong. How dare they mislead customers and have the cheek to close 32mins before official hours just so they can get home earlier. When I asked for the manager, he told me they were not in - 'when the cat is away, the mice play'. This man doesn't set the rules, Costa isn't his small family café where he makes up the rules; it's a large corporation with its own established rules, which he must adhere to. I hope he gets fired for his part in Costa losing a loyal customer. I went to Icon coffee down the road and will continue to do so.

Wanted to use 30% off food promo but it would not go through the till. Would have walked away but the food was already in the microwave. Table dirty with hair (gross) and old bits of food on it. Probably explains why it only has a '4' hygiene rating.

First time in yonks I'm using a Costa shop. Very outdated their decor and tables n chairs. Shop has a very "sticky" feel as in sweat n sugar around the area. Coffee not all that.

So today I went to this Costa on Hampton Hill high street, I have been before and it hasn’t been too bad. Although always a bit grubby outside. I would like to point out this is the Costa next to the small Sainsbury’s. So today there was a sign on the window ‘cash only’ which didn’t really matter as there is a cash point next door. As far as I could see the shop only had one customer who was sat inside next to the window. My daughter, Grandson and I had to sit outside as I had my neighbours small dog with us. The outside was really grubby and needed a good clean. Each table which were now empty had a full ashtray on it and needed wiping, the floor was littered with discarded napkins and sugar packets. We sat down as my daughter told me not to make a fuss. After we had finished and my daughter had popped into Sainsbury’s I stuck my head in the door and saw the two female staff chatting to someone that seemed to possibly be a friend ( nothing wrong with that I guess if you have nothing else to do). I wasn’t rude just honest and I said ‘hey ladies, it’s a bit grubby outside the tables all have full ashtrays and they all need wiping plus the floor is really bad’. Both members of staff looked at me like I was mad however one of them came outside. Unfortunately she was incredibly sulky and surly , sensing this I said to her ‘come on you must be able to see that it’s bad out here , there’s ashtrays full up the tables are bad etc’ her reply ‘ well I’m cleaning it up aren’t I ‘?’ I was so taken aback by her attitude . I then pointed to the dirtiest table and said ‘look at that’ her reply which was actually quite funny but very rude, now I look back on it . She said ‘it’s not us it’s the customers’ 🤷🏼‍♀️?!! Now the last time I was employed in that field of work it was normal for us to clean up after the customers, it was kind of in the job description. Another thing in the job description was always to be polite. So perhaps Brenda ( I asked her name) could do with a bit more training in the cleaning and customer service department🤔 Also please note that if Brenda had come outside and said something like ‘oh dear yes it is a bit grubby sorry about that ‘ I would not be wasting my time writing this sad, sorry review. Sometimes Brenda sorry is just the best way forward. I won’t be going there again I will go the other one on the high street that is always spotless and where the staff are super friendly and sweet. P.S pictures contain no full ashtrays as Brenda had cleaned them away before I took these pics. If you zoom in you can see the grub on all the tables, the one we sat at was dirty before we sat down ewwww. Not pleasant.

I came here in the morning to do some work on my laptop with a coffee and sandwich, service was alright, but I was really disappointed when I found out that they don't have proper working Wi-Fi! And when I asked them for napkins they said they don't have 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’ve been to many Costa coffee shops on my travels, but the Hampton Hill ones are the best I’ve been to. They make great coffee and the staff are SO nice, especially Honey and Rose. these girls treat the customers like family. Good banter and great coffee, what more could one want? Keep it up guys!

The two Costa coffee shops in Hampton Hill High Street (run by the same staff) make the best Costa coffees of all the Costa coffee shops I've visited in this area, and all the baristas are really friendly, helpful and very hard-working! I regularly visit these Costas (especially the one next to Tesco) and always receive excellent friendly service! The Costa next to Tesco is nice and quiet to sit in inside and outside, as it is set back quite a way from the road and always has plenty of seating available inside, which is also nice and cool on a hot summer day!

The staff are so hard working and efficient especially when Yasmin and Rosie are working they are absolutely brilliant they make the best coffee I’ve been a regular for years and always look forward to coffee see them working, hands down best flat whites from them.

The coffee has changed since the old manager left above all one of the girls working in the store is quite rude and arrogant. I regularly visit the store and most of the staff are friendly apart from this particular person. Unfortunately I do not know her name she is a bit overweight and very nasty and needs to know how to treat customers. Sad.

Standard Costa outlet. This one is special by being very close to a gate to Bushy Park (around 1100 acres of park land), on the High Street and having a free car part behind it (limited to 2 hours). It is also next to a public library with an excellent high speed, low latency, Internet WiFi service. External covered seating for dog owners at the front. Always fairly busy but can get very busy when lots of people are using the park.

Wasn't very impressed with this Hampton Hill store. Asked if I could have a large and pay extra as at other sites, was told no, asked for extra hot and that wasn't done. Although staff appeared friendly not much good if they don't listen to your order, or give correct info. Wouldn't recommend

I passed this Costa branch today and was amazed to see the tightly packed tables in the small outside space full of people. Clearly Social Distancing is ignored at this branch!

This review is for the Costa next to Tesco, Tripadvisor seem confused over the two Costas in Hapmton Hill. The newer Costa is generally quieter and it's usually possible to find a seat. Service is excellent, particularly from George and Vanja, always prompt and consistent. Coffee always good and served with a smile, unlike other local 'independent' coffee shops.

Unfortunately since the manager change a few months ago the shop has not done very well. Coffees are now inconsistent in taste and temperature, and yesterdey when I popped in during the afternoon I saw that the nata tarts in the cake counter had large blobs of mould growing on them. I have to ask how this went unseen by staff and the manager and on further inspection, some of the other cakes looked very tired indeed especially the lemon tarts. This is either poor stock rotation which is in turn poor management or an attempt to increase profits by ordering less and selling stale old products to unsuspecting customers. Again, poor management and totally unacceptable. I'll be trying out the other local Independants for my daily coffee fix

I popped in for a free coffee with my Wuntu voucher today. The server told me that the management of this branch had decided not to accept the voucher. They clearly don’t understand the positive impact they could get from rewarding their customers. I’m choosing to drink and eat elsewhere from now on.

While the coffee and sweet snacks were tasty the food preparation time was quite lengthy. The restaurant was not all that busy so it took much longer than anticipated.

It's a chain so the food and drink will be the same roughly at each franchise. The staff here are rude and unfriendly as well as the Feltham branch. They never smile or say thank you or goodbye. Awful.

The other cafes on the high street do sell the standard coffee options but Costa’s coffee is the best and worth the extra cost. In the mornings, it does get busy with office workers and local residence; they could do with more staff and have a quicker service, as the queue gets to the entrance door in the space of five minutes. The food options are very limited as it is a small location, go into Sainsbury’s next door for a sandwich or bakery items.

Walking in and there where flies inside the venue. When we got served the service staff looked really tired and over worked. Only 2 staff behind the counter and all tables where full of cups. The bins where overfilled and the place was extremely busy but not enough staff. The toilets here atrocious!! The floor was wet with urine and the loos smelts so bad. Anyone could have slipped as there was no wet floor sign. Tried to speak to the staff but no one appeared to look up at me they where so busy and I felt so angry that I had to leave. I'll never go there again. It was disgusting and really messy. People be warned and try another coffee establishment that is cleaner. No air conditioning at the venue and the air was hot and stale.

The staff are amazing!!! Being a regular, they even remember your usual order. Can get very busy, but alway worth the wait.

If they bought some more cups, they could clear the tables EVEN LESS THAN THEY DO AT THE MOMENT! We were there for about 30mins and despite few customers did not see a single table cleared of dirty cups. Customers all had to clear them out of the way themselves.

Tables are usually clean, lots of places to sit inside and out, rain or shine, you're under a canopy, and there's usually a dog bowl, which is great if you have a thirsty dog. Sometimes the staff can be a bit slow though. The last time I went in was about 25mins before closing time, so I expected it to be quiet and fairly quick. There were two people in front of me when I arrived, and I was relieved to see 3 members of staff still working. However, one was pottering about back and forth between the tables and out the back, one was making the drinks and the other was on the till and finding other uses for himself (such as putting clean cups and crockery away). I felt that if he had assisted the drink maker, they would not have lost custom due to the long wait in the queue. I spent about 10mins waiting to be served, and a further 10mins waiting for my drink. Won't go in again 30mins before closing, or if I'm in a hurry!

I regularly visit this establishment to have a hot chocolate and complete some uni work. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and its great to get the lap top out and crack on!

The coffee is ok, there are better cafes to go to. They got my order mixed up, but did sort it out quickly. However the eye rolling from the staff spoilt the good intentions

Normal nice little friendly Costa. The only gripe is the Big Issue Seller outside - if you sit outside they are standing in front of you - slightly puts you off your relaxing coffee. I feel mean saying it but if she were to move slightly down the road....

Does the job every time. Coffee is good, staff are friendly and always relaxed place to go in Hampton Hill. I'm a regular and see no reason to stop going. Recently undergone a refurbish so nice and clean.

I regularly visit a range of Costas and this is by far the best. The staff are always happy, polite and efficient, if it has a shortcoming it's that it's too small for the number of customers, a victim of its own success! Anyone who has a problem here should look to themselves.

Good Costa outlet. Service was fine, noisy sitting outside but this is London after all ! Usual Costa nibbles. All in all quite acceptable.

Ignore the negative reviews this is one of the best Costas around. The staff know all the regulars and their orders, they are always happy and welcoming. It is the heart of Hampton Hill and always busy, it's a wonder they hasn't moved to large re premises.
