Harris and Hoole in Richmond upon Thames

Went there on a weekend, staff were making out at the tills, made us feel really uncomfortable. Saw another review about the same thing, please tell your staff to be professional.

Everything was great and staff were lovely but they were making out behind the counter ! On an afternoon at 3pm in broad daylight. If I wanted to see two ppl going at it with their mouths I would have turned on another one of MTV’s trashy reality shows

Went on Saturday afternoon. Good setting, very friendly and helpful staff and good coffee. Needs a deep clean, smartened up and toilets checked regularly.

Sooo, I never actually write reviews unless the food / restaurant / establishment is either very good or very bad. This coffee shop in Twickenham H&H, well what a HOLE! The place was a shambles. The table surfaces were filthy dirty, the staff looked unclean and very unhygienic, particually a rather large guy working there. On the coffee hot and cold working areas where you get served by the staff, there are piles of rubbish and mess everywhere. I was really very shocked. I remember when this place first opened, it was great and full of promise, unfortunately it has gone down hill. I didnt stay, after waiting to be served for 5 minutes and being ignored, bareing in mind it was only me in the queue! I soon picked up my gear and got out of there as quickly as possible and moved to a neighbouring coffee shop, where I spend the next few hours spending my money on food and coffees. COFFEE SHOP HAS NOT BEEN CLEANED FOR SOME TIME!

We didnt like the food was for brunch. The coffee was not terrible but delivered a bit forcefully. One of the barristas was a bit passive aggressive. Too echoey in the back to hold a conversation. Not enough redeeming features for me

Lovely place for coffee lovers in Twickenham

Lovely wee coffee shop, with good coffee to boot! Had a lovely time whiling away a few hours, sipping coffee and sorting some life stuff out. Spiffing

If you don't mind waiting 10 minutes with no one else in queue, you might get a pretty good coffee and toast... customer service lacking.

This is easily the best place for coffee in Twickenham! I visit all the time and the team are always lovely and coffee is great!

Loved the coffee and cake that we had here along with the efficient service and great decor revealing the store's historic past.

Place was OK, staff were good and delivered our order to the table, but let's just say I've had better Cappuccinos; the coffee wasn't strong enough. The cup was lovely and full though!

Coffee nice!! The cafe is not clean , toilets disgusting , couldn't use them!!! Two young staff more interesting being on their phones !! Place lacks management ! To guide the young staff get this place cleaned up !! Won't be back

Great little coffee shop with helpful staff and decent seating.

Lovely community atmosphere. Popped in for some hot beverages during lunchtime, and there was a performance by live jazz quartet. Just what you need to break up the day. Would definitely visit again.

I went into this coffee shop for a couple of coffees and a biscuit. I was overcharged and question my bill. I was told the till was unable to charge me the advertised price (take out) I asked for a credit for the overpriced item only to be abused by the server, I was told she had only just opened and couldn’t I see she was stressed!!! At this point I was told I was not welcome!!! She took 5 minutes to try and give me a credit only to be told that the till didn’t like it!!!!! I left leaving my credit for two coffees in the till. What a terrible experience. How often are they overcharging without the customer knowing?????

Visit Harris and Hoole today and the service was excellent. I had a very fussy baby and the girl working there was just wonderful. Thankyou!

What a disappointing experience we had today. We ordered two coffees and a panini to have in. They served us the panini on a plate yet they gave us paper takeaway cups for the coffee, when we asked to have them in. The lady who took our order also seemed to have an attitude problem. My wife asked for tap water and ice and she said that we can help ourselves to tap water in the back (they have a fountain with glasses to grab), so we asked if she can give us the ice separately - to which she said she will do - so we went to take a seat and wait for our panini. After five minutes of waiting, I went to the counter to remind her about the ice, to which she said she would give it to us in a bit. Another five minutes pass, so I went up again to ask her colleague instead. It turns out she had left it on the counter for us to pick up but we were never told about this. When asked about it, she said (with an attitude) that she had told us. Meanwhile, she had been serving other customers in the counter as we waited, so she was fully aware that we had not picked it up, yet she didn't care enough to notify us. There were only two staff members working (which should be enough given business activity levels) however both were young and there was no Senior Manager to ensure that everything ran properly. In addition to this, in terms of atmosphere, the place is soulless and feels completely uninviting. Considering it is not particularly cheap and with so many (nicer and better) café options in Twickenham, we will not be coming back.

Staff cancelled my order, refused me service, and were rude to me because I was only able to pay by cash instead of electronic card. My complaint to head office went unanswered. I believe this is discriminatory.

Best coffee on the highstreet. Sausage breakfast roll is my dirty secret.

The milk for the cappacino was at boiling point and that always ruins the flavour. Thats fine but when I took it back it was exchanged with a little reluctance and the replacement was just the same! Couldn't drink it and H&H are hardly the cheapest around. I just left The barista was pleasant but you cant make coffee this way Its a pretty soulless place to although thats partly to do with the restrictions

Have been Harris and Hoole customer since I moved to Twickenham and I have been loyal for 8 years, must say that first year was the best one as staff was there amazing, for four years amazing, interior and exterior of H+H was great that time then past couple of years. And customer service a bit decline but coffee never disappointed. Today and yesterday I have ordered "Amazing Honeycomb flat white". Lady who served me was really nice and made me very nice americano, so I could say that espresso was top notch :) and great flat white milk too ! Keep up in these hard days !!!

I know with the endless Covid restrictions that coffee shops have to change many things, but sadly it felt like they’d gone too far in this branch of Harris + Hoole. It was absolutely soulless. It was almost depressing. To stay in and meet a friend for a catch up over a coffee, we were even given paper takeaway cups. It felt really disappointing.

Great place for a coffee and sit down to have a good chat with friends. The place was very well sanitised and clean, which definitely added to the positive experience.

Dirty. Can be much much cleaner. Serving area toilet . Soon they can have a major hygiene issues. Also they have a lot of worker rotation. You want to see proper and fixed baristas everytime you go there. Obvious that this chain will be soon sold .

I'm a big fan of Harris+Hoole but whose idea was to play live music in coffee shop? This is not a pub or club! We went here to enjoy your great coffee and discuss few things but with that loud music?!? Absolutely impossible! I'm, let me say a "rock and heavy metal" guy and I love gigs/live music but NOT in the coffee shop!!!

We went here for Sunday brunch. Good choice of food and friendly service. Food came and they’d made the error of a cheese toastie, instead a cheese and ham toastie, not great for a vegetarian. They replaced it but by the time they did my friend had eaten her food so it was all a bit off. The single toilet needs a revamp and a really good clean, it was dire. But a good cuppa and we’d go again.

Disappointed...my proper cheese toastie was dry and without a proper amount of bechamel. Definitely prefer the one in st. Margarets. Been there a few times,and it was spot on.

Pouring with rain needed to do some work on the laptop so popped in, Hot choc, was very nice, Comfy seats, staff very polite and friendly, enjoyed my short visit, however did not enjoy the trip on the way out, nasty trip hazard halfway down the shop, looks like the wooden flooring is lifting, quite badly, Good job I am quite agile and managed to re gain my balance before crashing out.

Good food and coffee but annoying flies

One of my favourite places. We had a great experience, was even live acoustic music playing. Delicious savoury and pastries. Also like the community notice board.

Grabbed a somewhat expensive smoothie here. Seems to be a student hangout with power supplied for laptops etc. I could take it or leave it if I'm in Twickenham again.

Happy assistant who recommend the Lemon Curd Cake which was worth it! Plenty of seating and was not at all busy!

Sometimes, artisan coffee shops (H&H included) can be a bit too "just so" and I normally prefer the matter-of-factness of main chain outlet; but I really like this Twickenham branch. The staff is friendly but also very efficient. I find myself coming in more and more often. Well done!

Great coffee in Twickenham. Friendly staff. Live jazz music every Friday morning which is lovely. Clean toilets which is always a bonus.

Pleasant environment for a coffee shop - ex butchers shop so has interesting glazed tiles. long black very good. good selection of cakes and pastries, but not very many (may run out by late morning). Not fast service like a H&H in Central London, more relaxed atmosphere. Nice comfy sofas, as well as more traditional tables. I particularly like the nice solid glazed crockery, makes the coffee taste nicer. Often full of families and young babies. And dogs

Delicious iced mocha. Delicious hot sandwiches. Incredibly family friendly (extra wide spacing between tables to fit big buggies through). Amazing place.

Their coffee tastes so good. The place and its atmosphere is relaxing. Is family friendly. Has a good selection of meat and vegetarian food, soups in winter and free Wi-Fi. No five stars because the aircon makes it is soo cold inside

I have been here a few times, once with my boyfriends vegan dad and he was well catered for here. Have also been in to do some work on my laptop. Theres a variety of seating arrangements from tables near plugs, comfortable sofas or relaxing armchairs. Good smoothies, teas and coffees.

I recommend the oat milk coffee. They are really talented.

One of the best coffee in Twickenham/Richmond area. Always nice staff. Great loyalty app. Perfect location. But sometimes bit dirty - that’s why 4 stars only.

Abit small and a bit dark large window opening out onto street which lets in light but otherwise pointless. I like the loyalty App which allows you to pay via your phone

Nice and relaxing, it's never overly busy and staff are friendly. My roasted veg and haloumi sandwich was delicious washed down with a pot of tea.

Harris and Hoole seems to be consistently making the best coffee in all the locations I've been to so far. This one is no exception. They have great teas and decent cakes as well, but what's outstanding is the coffee.

Always get great coffee The food us rather limited and is nothing special. I've been to several branches and always think the drinks are better than the food Cheese on toast posh style is rather good and reminds me of the seventies when I was a child

I have to admit to avoiding this coffee chain since the takeover by Tesco and its more recent subsequent sale to Cafe Nero, but decided to give it another try when in Twickenham with my eldest son for the England vs Argentina game. I have to admit the flat white coffee was very good as was my salmon sandwich and the service. Time for a rethink perhaps?

Independent coffee shop with artsy feel

Just popped in for a quick coffee (double piccolo and flat white). While there got tempted to try a piri piri wrap and a cheese melt. The coffees didn't disappoint and the service was cheerful and quick.

Nice place and I love their strawberry & bannna shake which is the best for Sunny days...

Coffee not bad. But it took an eternity to make and since the place was empty I didn't understand why. If it's going to take that long why not offer to bring it to your table. Anyway the actual coffee tasted much better than the last time I visited.

Paramos aquí por un plato de sopa y roll. Y una taza de té, estaba bien. La sopa estaba bien, pero nada para morirse. No estoy seguro de que me molestaría volver para comer ya que era claramente de una olla y ponerla en el ya que tenía los puntos calientes y fríos (no había sido suscitadas) pero lo suficientemente agradable para tomar una copa y un sentar.

Chill out kind of place with great coffee

Well, it's ok. Pretty good for kids (large areas for buggies, sofas, baby changing, babychino and all that). Coffee is unremarkable, but the staff at this place are regular, friendly and accommodating. Occasionally there's live music too.

Nice coffee the same as you get everywhere, but the crockery is really cool. A bit crazy in the afternoons.

I go there sometimes when I am in Twickenham they do awesome coffee and great snacks to go with it
