What a disappointing experience we had today. We ordered two coffees and a panini to have in. They served us the panini on a plate yet they gave us paper takeaway cups for the coffee, when we asked to have them in. The lady who took our order also seemed to have an attitude problem. My wife asked for tap water and ice and she said that we can help ourselves to tap water in the back (they have a fountain with glasses to grab), so we asked if she can give us the ice separately - to which she said she will do - so we went to take a seat and wait for our panini. After five minutes of waiting, I went to the counter to remind her about the ice, to which she said she would give it to us in a bit. Another five minutes pass, so I went up again to ask her colleague instead. It turns out she had left it on the counter for us to pick up but we were never told about this. When asked about it, she said (with an attitude) that she had told us. Meanwhile, she had been serving other customers in the counter as we waited, so she was fully aware that we had not picked it up, yet she didn't care enough to notify us. There were only two staff members working (which should be enough given business activity levels) however both were young and there was no Senior Manager to ensure that everything ran properly. In addition to this, in terms of atmosphere, the place is soulless and feels completely uninviting. Considering it is not particularly cheap and with so many (nicer and better) café options in Twickenham, we will not be coming back.

I know with the endless Covid restrictions that coffee shops have to change many things, but sadly it felt like they’d gone too far in this branch of Harris + Hoole. It was absolutely soulless. It was almost depressing. To stay in and meet a friend for a catch up over a coffee, we were even given paper takeaway cups. It felt really disappointing.

We went here for Sunday brunch. Good choice of food and friendly service. Food came and they’d made the error of a cheese toastie, instead a cheese and ham toastie, not great for a vegetarian. They replaced it but by the time they did my friend had eaten her food so it was all a bit off. The single toilet needs a revamp and a really good clean, it was dire. But a good cuppa and we’d go again.

I used to visit this coffee shop occasionally but sadly after the last time I won't be returning. The coffee was slow to be made, and when my husband collected it from the counter he was told "sorry about the mess" in my saucer as the cappuccino we had ordered was swimming around in the saucer. As someone who makes coffee for a living I found this pretty staggering service. I would have perhaps been more forgiving had it actually been a cappuccino and now a boiling hot cup of brown milk. Popped in mid morning on a Sunday. Not too many people waiting, but the staff were excruciatingly slow with taking orders, would get distracted halfway through my order then forget I was ordering and ask the next person. Then to call your name alerting you that your coffee was ready, it was barely above a conversational volume, so from across the busy room, not obvious. Even when I asked about where the bathroom was, as the only visible one was labelled 'disabled', the question was treated as unnecessary and odd. The sandwiches, although possibly too expensive, were good and are heated, which is nice. Coffee was ok, not great. A nice touch, they have a dog bowl at the entrance and it seems both dog friendly and baby friendly, as the lady next to us was breast feeding when we arrived.

A great addition to the usual coffee chains, it’s always buzzing in here. I find the coffee a little inconsistent though, certain baristas seem to struggle making a real flat white which for an artisan coffee shop isn’t acceptable especially given the cost, but when they make it right is good. The toilet is always pretty disgusting even first thing in the morning before it has really been used, someone needs to get a grip of this.

Knowing this is a chain effectively owned (under the radar) by Tesco makes you look at it a little differently. Every detail is there to make it look as if it is individually owned - chalkboards, random furniture, pictures of staff in random poses. But it is all stage-managed, which makes you feel a little manipulated. That said, the food and drink was excellent - nice touch to get a piece of fruit (juicy pear) with my bbq pulled chicken roll. Took a long time to be served a bottle of Diet Coke - seriously I could have served myself but didn't have a bottle opener.Toilets grubby as someone else has posted. Thought I'd try H&H for the first time today.Initially went for my usual large long black coffee (I like coffee with coffee flavour, not flavoured milk). Unfortunately I received a large cup of hot water, about the colour of mid-strength milk-less tea with next to no discernible flavour.Always willing to give the benefit of the doubt I then ordered a filter coffee for seconds. The counter staff offered to let me try free of charge their filter coffee which has blueberry flavours as the farm produces both coffee and blueberries. The result - better in that it had more flavour, but still not a good cup of coffee with strong coffee flavours. The blueberry overtones were noticeable, but that is not to say they were particularly enjoyable. On the plus side it was free.Whilst talking to the counter staff they said they'd checked with the barrista, who'd informed them that a large long black coffee would be weaker than a smaller size as the only difference is the amount of hot water added to the espresso. Recommendation - if you like you like non-milk based coffee of even moderate strength don't get fooled into up-sizing - you'll end up paying 80p for nothing more than hot water. The counter staff informed me that this in not the influence of the Tesco minority shareholding - so I can only blame the family owners. There's an old joke that going to a certain other chain for coffee is similar to going to prison for sex - you'll get it but it will be rough. I wouldn't put H&H in this category as the coffee I had was so incredibly bland it can't be described as rough. YMMV.I'll leave it to someone wiser than me to verify that there are areas of the world where the coffee plant (native of the tropics) is farmed alongside blueberries (native of far more temperate climates). I freely admit to being a cynic.Ambiance is somewhat different to other chain coffee shops but still a variation on the theme of a few sofas / low chairs, standard wobbly tables with hard chairs with a few bar style stools in the windows. Customer base is largely standard coffee shop midweek morning mix of mums with toddlers, mums without toddlers, etc. - not a complaint, merely an observation.I can't comment on the quality of the milky cappuccinos and lattes - haven't tried as they're not to my taste. People who might enjoy the experience are those who enjoy the discussion of "orange / citrus notes" which allegedly come out in the espresso beans rather than the actual evidence of their own sense of taste. I think pretentious is the word I'm looking for.I can put up with the pointless use of a wireless gizmo to alert you when your drink is ready. Perhaps H&H think this unnecessary high-tech gadgetry is funky or a USP? Food offering looked pricey to me, but then it does in most of the coffee chains. "Food" rating relates to the coffee - I didn't sample the food.I, for one, won't be back as the raison d'etre (the coffee) isn't up to the job. I'll be sticking to my old mantra of supporting local independent businesses who offer good coffee at much better value in future.

Sadly the atmosphere is spoiled by the the piped morning radio show and the piled up debis behind the counter. The furnishings don't really work - chairs aren't very comfortable and are looking grubby already. The result is not a calm, comfortable place to relax. As a true coffee addict I agree with all reviewers that this new kid in town is a real competitor to the usual suspects on the other side of the High street (Starbucks, Patisserie Valerie etc.). The coffee is the one thing I’ll definitely return for again. Having said that, I gave the overall rating 4 only because it’s early days and I would seriously suggest the management to send the spies to other coffee masters to learn how to arrange the process which would make the customers’ experience smooth, service quick, all unnecessary bottlenecks removed (e.g. the person at the counter washes the dishes, sorts out the garbage, packs up the order). They are definitely different. They’ve got style. They are doing their best by trying to make the service more personal, memorise the names. It was obvious that they are rookies. But their time will come. So, be good. Be patient and come on in for a nice cup of hot beverage.

The service here was great. Here you place an order for both your food and beverage, they hand you the food and then bring the beverage over to your table when it is ready. The staff seemed very attentive but unobtrusive. I liked the way they came over and removed our empty plates when we were done eating our scones. Unfortunately for us we walked by this place everyday but did not stop in until the last day of our trip.

I have been wanting to call into this coffee shop for a while as I have walked past it quite a few times and it always looks so inviting. We went there today and it was indeed warm and cosy on a very cold day. I like the decor and the trendy American feel to the place. It reminded me of the sort of trendy coffee shop you would find in somewhere like Seattle (not Starbucks though)! However, I had to remove the previous occupiers`s cup and water glass from our table before we could sit down as nobody had done that. The coffee was good - but warm. Not nearly hot enough. When the server brought our coffee, I noticed the previous occupier`s tea pot was also still on our table. He made no effort to remove it and I had to hand it to him to take away. Probably a great start to a new place, but they need to keep on the ball and not let standards slip.

Once you had tasted the coffee prepared by the Harris+Hoole baristas, you'll never want to drink the coffee at the likes of Starbucks, Costa Coffee or Caffe Nero. Harris+Hoole are passionate about their coffee and it shows (and you can taste the difference). They also offer a nice assortment of baked treats like cupcakes and tarts as well as paninis and smaller snacks. Wish they had a few more of those comfy sofas. Nice with free WiFi.

Lovely atmosphere where you can relax. Good selection of snacks and the staff are friendly. Doesn't feel like a chain.

You might think Twickenham has enough coffee shops, but given they are always busy I believe there is room for another, especially one with such high standards and "love of all things coffee!"The first Saturday brought families out in droves and if their experience was as mine then they will not have found Hoole+Harris lacking. There was a warm welcome with very personal attention, understandable on my first visit at 7am but carried through to the late morning visit, when Mandeep, the manager, greeted me as a long lost friend! The coffee was excellent and the food being served looked very good, with the chocolate tart to die for. I know from personal experience! The decor is very attractive and on speaking with Mandeep I learned that it is courtesy of Mr Sainsbury (pre supermarkets). The shopfitters uncovered original Sainsbury tiles which they have restored adding class to this lovely venue. Go and have a look you won't be disappointed.

Staff were absolutely miserable. Shop was quiet, coffee was just okay. Don't know what makes them so sour faced.
