As an Executive Chef that has run various Blue Chip Corporate catering outfits throughout Central London my first choice fish and Sushi supplier has always been and always will be Sushi Chef. Their produce is second to none everytime and the service is responsive and in a different league to others. The Sushi Chef do not only specialise in Sushi but can also source ingredients that are widely unavailable from other suppliers. I cannot recommend highly enough!

We hired The Sushi Chef for an in-office interactive sushi making party for ~10 people. It was a really fantastic experience - the chef came right on time, was lovely to speak to, and the quality of the sushi was fresh and top notch. The menu was varied and we all had the opportunity to make the sushi ourselves if we wanted. We will definitely be using them again for future events!

Having visited Tokyo and Yokohama for years on business I’ve always wanted to have a dinner party with friends serving high authentic sushi in the customary Japanese fashion. I am happy to say Max and his team delivered this in every way possible. The attention to detail was second to none. From an initial meeting to agree on a budget and menu for the evening to the impeccably trained staff on the night who made it an unforgettable evening for my friends and I. Nothing was left to chance with Max even suggesting subtle tweaks to the interior along with recommendations for Sake wines to compliment each dish on the menu. Thanks again!

I have ordered from the sushi chef on two occasions for events. I can't think of anything to fault the quality/quantity of food and service provided. Having eaten at some of the best sushi restaurants around the world, I am so happy to have found the sushi chef because it is such high quality, fresh, and I can't think of any sushi I have had that's better. The customer service I received from the owner Max (wonderful chap) and his team was so helpful and informative, they made my events and experience with them so smooth, can't wait for the next event! Appaling service! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS VILE CATERING! We placed quite a big order with Max, or as I like to call him the filthy scammer. He was talking about "delivery partners" when we asked when they would deliver, but it turns out it was him delivering – nothing wrong with that, but first red flag. When we opened the order it was less than half of what we had ordered – a lot of items missing, meat skewers we never ordered in the first place, "mixed sushi" were less than half the amount promised and were only of one type. We assumed they must have delivered the wrong order at first as 99% of what we received did not match what we had ordered. We tried calling Max for hours. He first ignored our calls, then started declining the calls and finally he simply switched his phone off. The next day he had the "decency" to reply to text and emails, just to try and play smart and coy! He did not even had the guts to pick up the phone and try to sell us those lies over the phone. We asked for a refund and he said "management will look into it" – he is the owner of the business so he was once again trying to take the mickey. Max, rest assured we reported you trough the gov.uk website as a fraudulent business, and reported your bank account for fraud through the bank. Just remember, Karma is a b---- and you should be ashamed of trying to take advantage of people especially when times are tough for everyone.

My friend ordered a big delivery order for her sister’s birthday with 10 people attending. £180 worth of order and not even £30 worth of stuff was actually delivered. When we noticed the mistake we in good faith thought we were delivered the wrong order and tried to get in touch with Max Anglin who is supposedly the manager of the restaurant and the person dealing with the order and who also delivered it. Max never replied to our emails texts and phone calls and blocked my friend number and switched off the phone. The next morning Max sent an email saying all was delivered. When called he hung up the phone. He started texting on WhatsApp and tried to convince us that everything was delivered when it is obvious that it wasn’t the case. We asked for a refund and denied that. His excuse for not answering the phone was that the office was closed after 6pm when he gave us his personal mobile number... anyways, if a customer has something to discuss after 30mins from the delivery you would expect the supplier to at least pick up the phone and try and solve the issue. Moreover the few things we were delivered were of poor quality. A total embarrassment for our guests that we had over and ruined our sisters wedding. When asked for a refund he said to call the office on opening hours only. Please don’t order from this place ever - they don’t deserve the business and any customer loyalty.

We booked Sushi Chef for a Japanese Omakase dinner for my birthday, and paid to have a waitress serve as we were 10 people. It was over £1500 for a 15 course menu which Max (from SushiChef) and my partner went through together and agreed what was possible to do, Nobu style. We also agreed dessert with matcha mochi to be served, as well as all dinnerware, plates and serving boats. Firstly, an Italian chef arrived, wearing scruffy shoes and clothes- and although very sweet, he was not prepared as Max had not even informed him of the job until 3pm that day (it’s not possible to get high end good cuts of fish from the fishmonger at this time of the day!) and also not shared the menu that we were promised, meaning the high end sushi experience we were hoping to cater for our guests was not delivered. There was no tableware, plates or bowls and only 1 large plate for serving. Wooden chopsticks were given, but thankfully we had our own bamboo bowls otherwise we wouldn’t have had anything. But even so it was not presentable and looked horrible. No mochi or dessert was provided either. The waitress was supposed to arrive 30min before guests arrived, around 730. At 830 she still had not showed up, and we were not given a number to contact her. We called Max over and over again, he didn’t bother answering the phone and instead kept saying that the waitress was outside. My partner ran out several times in the rain and there was no one there, and Max kept ignoring calls and refusing to give her number to us. I asked the chef if he knew about a waitress and he said he wasn’t given any info about the event at all but there was most likely no waitress ordered and this happened several times and he had actually quit because he hadn’t even met his boss after working for 2 years and they owed him money for about 6 months. Beyond that the food was so below mediocre, I haven’t actually had sushi that doesn’t have any flavour, and I feel bad saying that because the chef was a nice guy but he is not a Nobu experience sushi chef, he’s not even YoSushi- he still has a lot of training to go and this is the level of service you get paying £150 a head - WITHOUT alcohol or dessert. This was my birthday dinner and really put such a downer on the whole evening. Max didn’t seem to care that he had almost ruined my birthday. We paid for everything listed above and weren’t even given a third of it. No waitress No tableware No dessert 4/15 items of the dinner menu We obviously complained, Max said he would speak to relevant parties and find out what happened and then has gone completely silent. We’ve been patient about it and not rude, explained how dissatisfied we were and wanted to come to an arrangement without writing bad reviews but he is not answering phone calls for over a month or replying to texts. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! You will waste a lot of money and be very very disappointed and embarrassed. Rather order from Nobu, it’s way cheaper to get the original Nobu experience than this piece of garbage! 0 stars!

The whole experience didn't start well. I ordered some sushi through Josh for a party of 16. I was told a few days before delivery that they had undercharged me by £70. I was either to pay the difference or order less food. I was worried about quantities so ordering less wasn't an option though we had no more budget to pay the difference. In the end there was a compromise-20 less pieces of sushi and 4 less portions of mains. I was assured that it would be enough. It wasn't. The food arrived cold. The sushi was OK. The aubergine salad was nice but the rainbow salad looked absolutely nothing like the advertised photo. We expected dumplings but received something else. The black cod was cold, chewy and the miso sauce was dried up. We paid £80 for the attached!!!!! The worst part of it all was that when I emailed to complain several times I have been completely ignored. Having paid a premium price I expected premium quality food and the overall outcome was very disappointing.

El bacalao negro estaba frío, masticable y la salsa de miso estaba seca. Couldn't give a damn about their regular customers. Their online ordering system is rubbish and not even their menu. Don't have this, don't have that and only accept orders that are made 2-3 hours before because they are soooooo 'busy' doing other things. Called, called, called and only got answer phones. 15 minutes before my guests arrive, get a call saying 'you called my phone'. Explained and emailed receipt of order (made at 2.30 in the afternoon) but that made no difference. Disgusted. Was offered 50% off next order and when made - was given the scraps. 30 pieces of salmon for what was advertised as at least 3 different types of fish. Hosting a Chinese New Year dinner party - embarrassed. No explanation, no sorry, no message and I can see that they have seen the messages. Couldn't give a damn. So, Sushi Chef - you've joined Nobu. Good luck because you are now obviously too posh for us in the local area and think that when someone complains that you can send rubbish and not be accountable. Well - you're wrong. I hope millions of people read this.

Llama, llama, llama y acabo de teléfonos respuesta. 15 minutos antes de llegar, mis clientes conseguir una llamada diciendo 'te llamé a mi teléfono". Explicó y envió por correo electrónico la recepción del pedido (hecho en 2. 30 en la tarde), pero eso no cambia. Indignado. Me ofrecieron 50% de descuento la próxima orden y cuando se dio el hecho de restos. 30 piezas de salmón para lo que se anunciaba como mínimo 3 tipos de pescado. Celebrar una fiesta de Año Nuevo Chino - Cena de la vergüenza. No hay explicación, no lo siento, no hay mensaje y veo que se ha visto en los mensajes. No podría dar una maldita. Así, Sushi Chef - hemos unido Nobu. Buena suerte porque ahora obviamente muy pijo para nosotros en la zona y creo que cuando alguien se queja de que puede enviar la basura y no se contabilizan. Bien se equivocan. Espero que millones de personas leer esto.

The sushi was pretty disgusting and the sashimi in particular was not fresh. The sushi rolls had lots of strange flavour combinations in them, aside from the ingredients advertised, that did not taste nice. Would not recommend.

Insanely bad value for money. I don't mind paying for good sushi and sashimi, but 70 quid can only feed 2... THe competition has the same quality and half the price. Won't order again. Oh, the food was good quality though.

Decent sushi, but it was an hour later than the maximum delivery time quoted. I called to chase it and they said five to ten minutes more, but it was another 45 minutes. They gave me some free edamame beans in compensation which I didn't think was really good enough.

La selección es zushi y sashimi junto con calidad y presentación es insuperable. El sushi chef realmente tiene algunos hombres que sacaban espada principal en el mostrador. También nos gusta las fuentes y la posibilidad de organizar un chef de sushi en su grupo de cena, que siempre es un buen toque.Hemos encontrado que la entrega es realmente malo sin embargo y aunque cuando pides en línea lo afirma + 1,5 horas puede ser realmente excesivo está esperando alrededor y casi llegar demasiado Tipsy donde se ofrecen bocadillos y pierde su appititie.

Good quality ingredients well prepared. Sushi was excellent. Some of the hot items (eg Tempura) suffered slightly from not being straight from the fryer to the plate (not surprisingly went a bit soggier than desired in transit), but that said was still very good. Will defo order from here again.

Absolutely brilliant delivery sushi, we are usually left a bit unsatisfied with sushi that has been delivered as it can sometimes not be as fresh as it can be. But i can say that from the first bite of the sushi chef sushi it was an absolute pleasure just as good as eating at restaurants but in the comfort of your own home! Well done the sushi chef

Will man in intimer Atmosphäre einen langen Abend voll kulinarischer Genüsse verbringen, dann geht man nicht zu Hikari. Hier herrscht nämlich Kantinenatmosphäre: großer Raum, eher laut, insgesamt sauber und aufgeräumt. Allerdings dürften die wenigsten Kantinen eine derart umfangreiche Speisekarte haben: Nudelgerichte, Reisgerichte, Suppen, Donburi, Sushi und mehr. Wenn man Zeit hat, kann man hier eine kleine kulinarische Rundreise durch Asien erleben, ohne von seinem Stuhl aufstehen zu müssen. So viel Zeit hatten wir aber nicht; daher traf es sich gut, dass es der Bedienung ähnlich ging. Wir bestellen rasch hausgemachten Eistee und geeiste Litschi in Sirup sowie als Vorspeise vegetarische Gyoza. Die wurden ohne Verzögerung gebracht, waren warm, kross und offenbar frisch zubereitet. Wir hatten nichts zu klagen. Viel Zeit dafür wäre aber ohnehin nicht gewesen, denn die Hauptgerichte waren schon da, als wir gerade die letzten Reste Gyoza herunterspülten (eine Karaffe Leitungswasser gab es gratis). Auf dem Teller in der zweiten Runde: Chicken Katsu Curry und vegetarisches Pad Thai. Letzteres war würzig, Ersteres knusprig und wurde mit reichlich Sauce serviert – keine Haute Cuisine, vielleicht auch keine ›taste sensation‹, wie auf der Website angekündigt, aber gutes, leckeres Essen. Die rund 25 Pfund auf der Rechnung gingen für Londoner Verhältnisse völlig in Ordnung. Und dank der günstigen Lage an der U-Bahn-Haltestelle Lambeth North (Bakerloo Line) ist man so schnell weg, wie man bedient wurde.

This is such a great spot for dinner. My husband and I go here at least once a fortnight. The soups are to die for! The staff are fantastic too. Would highly recommend!

I agree mostly with the other reviews.. Atmosphere and staff really good. Food is OK though not authentic Japanese (in fact no Japanese chef or staff working here as far as I could see) and definitely too pricey for what it is.
