Hikari Sushi in Lambeth

Will man in intimer Atmosphäre einen langen Abend voll kulinarischer Genüsse verbringen, dann geht man nicht zu Hikari. Hier herrscht nämlich Kantinenatmosphäre: großer Raum, eher laut, insgesamt sauber und aufgeräumt. Allerdings dürften die wenigsten Kantinen eine derart umfangreiche Speisekarte haben: Nudelgerichte, Reisgerichte, Suppen, Donburi, Sushi und mehr. Wenn man Zeit hat, kann man hier eine kleine kulinarische Rundreise durch Asien erleben, ohne von seinem Stuhl aufstehen zu müssen. So viel Zeit hatten wir aber nicht; daher traf es sich gut, dass es der Bedienung ähnlich ging. Wir bestellen rasch hausgemachten Eistee und geeiste Litschi in Sirup sowie als Vorspeise vegetarische Gyoza. Die wurden ohne Verzögerung gebracht, waren warm, kross und offenbar frisch zubereitet. Wir hatten nichts zu klagen. Viel Zeit dafür wäre aber ohnehin nicht gewesen, denn die Hauptgerichte waren schon da, als wir gerade die letzten Reste Gyoza herunterspülten (eine Karaffe Leitungswasser gab es gratis). Auf dem Teller in der zweiten Runde: Chicken Katsu Curry und vegetarisches Pad Thai. Letzteres war würzig, Ersteres knusprig und wurde mit reichlich Sauce serviert – keine Haute Cuisine, vielleicht auch keine ›taste sensation‹, wie auf der Website angekündigt, aber gutes, leckeres Essen. Die rund 25 Pfund auf der Rechnung gingen für Londoner Verhältnisse völlig in Ordnung. Und dank der günstigen Lage an der U-Bahn-Haltestelle Lambeth North (Bakerloo Line) ist man so schnell weg, wie man bedient wurde.

Pretty good. Think this is a new location for the restaurant, but I could be wrong. Attentive service. Decent number of customers coming and going. Extensive menu, almost like a diner. Food servings large, and served quite hot - right off the stove.

Ample room, only short wait, long and varied menu (curries, soups, noodle dishes, ramens, sushi, sashimi, terriyaki, etc.). Wait staff not particularly friendly but can be made to smile if treated warmly. Prices reasonable. Attire and feel is casual.

Fantastiskt god mat, rekommenderar verkligen ett besök! Bentolådan med räktempura var det godaste vi åt under hela Londonvistelsen!

This place used to be good but the prices have gone up, the portion sizes have gone down and the customer service is nonexistent, shame.

Quelle expérience incroyable, dans le mauvais sens du terme hélas :(Nous nous sommes présentés à 21:55 soit 35 minutes avant l’heure de fermeture. Immédiatement on nous fait comprendre qu’à cette heure ci nous ne sommes pas les bienvenus. Accueil froid et le serveur a bien longuement regardé sa montre pour me faire comprendre que c’était tard !?! J’ai dû le rassurer que nous allions faire vite. Une minute après avoir été assis il vient prendre la commande, donc pas le temps de parcourir la carte. Tout arrive rapidement les entrées + plat principal + boissons en même temps. 5 minutes après une serveuse pose l’addition sur la table (22h15 à ce moment-là). Nous avions donc compris qu’il n’était plus possible de commander un dessert ou une autre boisson. A 22:20 tous les serveurs se sont mis à deux mètres de nous pour montrer leur impatience et à 22:25 ils ont tous enfiler leur blousons pour nous montrer qu’ils sont sur le départ.A 22:31 nous étions dans la rue....sans avoir eu le temps de finir notre assiette :( Bon on m’a bien proposé de mettre le reste dans un doggy bag mais je reprenais l’avion le lendemain, j’ai donc abandonné mon plat à moitié consommé. Je n’avais jamais vécu une telle expérience.Sans ce bémol la note aurait été meilleure car les plats étaient de bonne façons et plutôt bons pour un prix raisonnable. L’environnement est cependant un peu vieillot et mérite d’être rafraîchi.Donc acceptable si on vient assez tôt pour être sorti à 22:30 pile !!Pour ma part je n’y retournerais pas.

Ordinary food and service. The chicken skewer is okay but the black bean chicken rice is a little bit too salty.

I walked by this place and was attracted by the Asian flavor. Menu outside looked good. Pretty basic inside. Food was good. It showed up very quickly. The service was good. Not many people in the restaurant at the time. So recommended. Good price too.

Good food. Good prices. 2 star service. Gumpy waiter who didn't smile or speak.Service charge added automatically. 1.Its not the weekend as your menu states, today is a Thursday.2. Everyone gets paid at least minimum wage in this country so service charges should be optional and for exceptional service at the customers discretion!

We booked a table for two at 9.30 (they should close at 10.00) and when we arrived they pushed us to hurry up because the kitchen closed soon. So we asked about the food and the waitress didn't understand anything in English, then she push us to take also the dessert and we ordered it before the dinner to have it lately. I ordered the Onikoroshi sake cold, and they give me another one and they said something in bad english so we said that was fine. The duck arrived in 5 minutes (really weird this very quick time), it was the only thing acceptable to eat, because the rest of the things (tempura, cut rolls, gyoza) was awful, really bad quality. After that (without ask anything) they give us the bill and the dessert wasn't included, so we tried to ask again (because of their really bad english), and they couldn't understand. After that we paid and then we would to finish our coke, but they every 30 seconds came to us "do you finish?" So we gave up and went out from there. It's the worst place I ever been.

Vi åt här två gånger under vår tid i London, ena gången två ramen-nudelsoppor och andra gången bento-låda. Bägge gånger jättenöjda och belåtna. Supergott med billiga priser och generösa portioner.

Nada llama la atención en el aspecto exterior de este restaurane y tampoco la primera impresión al entrar suele ser de entusiasmo, pero a partir de ahí uno se encuentra una oferta gastronómica capaz de satisfacer todos los gustos, un servicio rápido y amable, y una magnífica relación calidad/precio. Recomendable para todos los que disfrutan con la cocina oriental.

Sorprende para lo que se ve por Londres. Entramos, probamos la comida (cena) y fueron rápidos, barato (comparado con lo que hay por Londres) y lo que probamos bastante bueno. Nos gustó y nos quedaba cerca, que repetimos. Si estás por la zona es muy recomendable (ojo, ajustaros a la hora de Inglaterra, a partir de las 22:00 todos cierran cocina)

Really fabulous little place for a bite to eat. It doesn’t look great in the outside but the sushi family boat was amazing!!!

Llegamos a las 10. En rápido Hikari 15:00 h, 15 minutos antes de la hora de cierre. Cuando llegamos, una camarera muy desagradable nos informaron de que estaban cerrados. En la señal que dice que cierra a las 10. 30:00h pero ella nos informó que estaba cerrado. Preguntamos si podíamos tener una comida para llevar. Ella sólo en blanco dijeron que no. Nos quedamos con hambre. No pierda su tiempo yendo allí por la noche. Sólo me decepcionó.

Vine aquí por primera vez, en un descanso de trabajo con mi novia. No esperaba mucho, sólo quería fideos. Pedí el Singapur Vermicelli fideos y Fideos de pato asado. Mi fideos fueron tan sabroso y el anochecer era crujientes por fuera y casi se derretía en la boca y fue más rápido y más sano que un McDonald's (y para 6. 50 por los fideos, sobre el mismo precio! ! ! ). El exterior del restaurante es muy engañoso, el interior es muy espacioso y un montón de espacio para web y acomodar si alguien tenía dificultad de movilidad. Comida llegaba a 5 minutos de pedir pero era muy auténtico y podría decir que este restaurante ha estado aquí durante bastante tiempo por lo bien los platos y presentado.

Visited this place after a visit to the Imperial War Museum, was encouraged by the positive reviews - expected a cheap but cheerful Asian eatery experience.

From the outside this restaurant does not look that great but the inside is actually nicer than expected, and the food was very good. Service was fast and friendly, and the prices were very reasonable.

When you see it from outside, the place looks a little bit untrustworthy. However, it is clean inside and the menu has a diverse selection of Asian food choices, ranging from sushi rolls to curries and bento boxes. I went for green chicken curry takeaway, which was a good portion for one person (not too small and not oversized either), and it was just GBP6.50 - pretty good for central London location, walking distance from the London Eye. Bento boxes were also from 9 to 15 pounds. The staff was not particularly friendly, but the service was quite efficient - it took me overall 15mins from entering to receiving my food. I think it is a pretty good option if you are in the area and want a decent meal, but nothing fancy.

Singapore laksa soup´s taste was gorgeous. I would have it everyday for lunch if I could. Our 10 and 12 year old boys liked it allso. The price for was 7 pounds. The best price/quality ratio in London, period.

La cena era excelente sopa de fideos en el plato, un fideo y Nikari sushi tienda justo calle arriba desde donde estábamos. Totalmente superficial mirando, estaba lleno por dentro. Había muchos contentos, buscando asiáticos, una buena señal. Resultó ser algunos de los mejores fideos nunca. Ambos tuvimos el tazón de fideos tailandeses con camarones. Absolutamente delicioso. Mi marido tenía sushi, anguila de declararlo algunos de los mejores que he visto.

Sólo me imagino que ha habido un cambio de personal, ya que algunos de los comentarios más negativos fueron publicadas aquí como a mí, el servicio era impecable. Trabajar lejos, ya que a menudo am, FUI DOS noches corriendo. Estoy revisando la segunda visita, pero la primera era igual de bueno. Estaba a una corta distancia a pie de mi hotel, y una vez ordenados, mi primer campo llegamos más rápido entonces había tomado para mi ascensor para llegar desde el cuarto de la planta baja. El segundo supuesto también llegó a mi mesa con la velocidad del rayo. A posteriori me pidieron pan de gambas. Whoosh! Y estaban allí. Siguiente pedí una bebida con lichi. De nuevo una entrega rápida. La única poco lento fue coger el ojo de alguien para pagar la factura que era muy razonable, la verdad. También quiero añadir que la comida era muy buena y fresca. El restaurante no parece especial desde fuera, pero esconde lo que se encuentra dentro. Las mesas podría fácilmente acomodar a grupos grandes. Recomiendo encarecidamente este restaurante y espero volver muchas veces.

Los alimentos son deliciosos, con una amplia gama de cocinas que van desde conjuntos de bento japonés tailandés. Precio muy asequible, puedes conseguir una comida abundante de arroz o fideos pasta (recomiendo el pad Thai ~ 6. 50 libras de carne o arroz frito ~ 5. 50 libras). Siendo un restaurante asiático en Londres, esta es una oferta. El servicio es bueno, con una buena ubicación, absolutamente delicioso, abundante y a un precio razonable. Lo recomiendo si te gusta la comida asiática o la comida, en general, recién hechos, con una enorme variedad, que viene con un buen precio!

Walk past this place all the time decided to try it, was aware that it used to have poor rep before but is under new management, tried the chow mien which was average nothing special prices are expensive but slightly cheaper then the Chinese restaurant opposite which most people overlook as its so small , cheaper and better food a short walk away in lower marsh road. However this place is supposed to be a Japanese restaurant and I'm judging it by its ability to make a good chow mien

The restaurant is situated close to Waterloo station. The service was very quick and efficient. We tried sushi, noodles and a noodle soup. All was delicious and the prices were not too high. Also takeaway works very well.

It maybe doesn't look that appealing when walking by but the food was excellent! We had sushi, tempura and noodles. All was very good and at a decent price. The service was also great, food was served really quick. I will definitely go there again.

The menu is diverse and wide-ranging and everything other diners were eating looked delicious. I tried a house special spicy dish which was great. Super fast and friendly service. I'll definitely go again

The food was very good. Pad Thai with chicken and huge shrimps. Chicken in Satay is excellent and Chow Mein noodles were nice. All in all, good value for money and good service.

Went there for lunch with a friend and the noodle was ready in less than 5 minutes. Just as fast as a cup noodle. But the taste was bland and the noodle was basically boiled with soy sauce on top with some low quality meat....

I love this place, its just over Westminster Bridge and round a bit on the South side. This family run restaurant does he best tempura prawns I have ever tasted. Laksa soup which reminds me of the curry our Amah used to make in Singapore. Their special fried rice is another best I have tasted. I'm sure they cook the rice in stock instead of water which gives it an amazing flavour - diffinitly more-ish. Inexpensive, service, fairly good. Also added bonus, makes wonderful sushi too. Every time I go I can never make up my mind which one of their delights to have! Unfortunately, haven't been for quite a while due to serious illness. However, on the mend and look forward to going soon. Always reliably fab!

Me encanta este lugar! El personal es muy agradable y servicial. La comida es excepcional. Todo lo que pide es tan deliciosa que no puede explicarse. Intenté muchas veces aquí. Tiempo lats fui con mis amigos y ellos también estaban muy contentos con ella. Incluso pedimos comida después de la cena para tomar distancia para el día siguiente. Tienen un montón de opciones vegetarianas y vegan.

Het eten was fantastisch, heerlijk vers en helemaal zelf gemaakt. Het interieur was wat simpel, maar wij haalden het eten op en aten het ergens anders dus dat was voor ons geen probleem. Voor 60 pond hadden wij ook meer en meer dan genoeg eten voor 7/8 personen, daarnaast kreeg je voor iedere persoon bestek, chopsticks en saus mee en natuurlijk een ruime hoeveelheid gember en wasabi. Ook bij sommige gerechten had je bijvoorbeeld zoetzure saus of een andere soyasaus. Al met al was het een goede ervaring voor takeaway!

Von aussen nicht wirklich einladend, wir sind aber trotzdem rein wegen der Auswahl an Speisen. Das Sushi war gut, frisch zubereitet und die Udon Noodle Soup war auch gut. Der Service war einwandfrei, freundlich und speditiv. Es ist nicht unbedingt das Lokal, in dem man gemütlich, lange sitzen bleibt. Aber alles in allem sehr empfehlenswert, das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt.

Seis de nosotros comimos almuerzo en rápido Hikari Sushi. La decoración podría hacer con una ordenada. Sin embargo, la comida es muy buena. En particular, el atún y el salmón makis son excelentes. El servicio era bueno y bastante rápido. Después de las 3 PM, el restaurante añade un 10 por ciento de servicio a todas las tablas, independientemente del tamaño del partido. I discovered this place as I was staying at a near by hotel and am glad I did. After a day of sight seeing we dropped in to get take out and our food was ready very quickly and it was delicious. We bought two dishes between two people and we didn't finish one as the serves were plentiful. The restaurant was full and everyone's food looked great. Give it a go, it was really good!

Stopping in on the way back from walking around various attractions in London it was great to warm up with a truly crummy Tom Yum Goong Soup. It was really warming and not overly spiced.The Singapore Style Yaki Udon noodles portion was huge. Great flavour. Enjoyed it. Washed down with green tea.The bento box of the person eating on the table next to me also look good. Other side of the restaurant families were happily sharing a variety of dishes. The food is simple, authentic and tasty as expected from this type of restaurant.

Hikari has an almost cafe vibe to it when you step in the door, it's definitely not a slick restaurant feel. But if you can look past being pointed to an available table then the food really catches you off guard, my mouth is watering remembering yesterday's meal!! Noodles came within minutes, a big plate I shared with the Mrs then as we were mopping this up the large Dragon roll (tempura prawns + avocado) and Crab roll turned up. Absolutely gorgeous. Two beers and a £32 bill for the two of us. Definitely worth stumbling across if you're in that part of London

We had a sushi course where the chef would choose our sushi and I was disappointed. The sushi he/she chose did not taste very good, fell apart a lot and did not look very good. I would not recommend this place for the sushi.

Went for lunch today. Ordered Malaysia style flat rice noodle and spicy and sour soup. The soup isn’t very authentic but the noodle is very good.

To start with the food is nothing but ok. My visit to this place was horrible with the level of service and lack of care the staff has with customers. Literally sat down on a table near our table and stayed on the phone not even caring about us. We asked for extra cutlery and the waitress literally threw it at our table!! I had to keep shouting “Hello” for them to come serve us. Keeps yawning all the time as soon as you look at her. Both of them not bothered to work. just want to stay on their phones. I will never recommend it to anyone!!!! Poor, crappy service.

In need of a lick of paint but the food was good and very reasonably priced. Don't go if you want a swanky night out as it's no frills. Definitely worth a visit though if you're just looking for a good meal at a good price.

Sorpresa en Waterloo. Este restaurante es un MUST en tu visita a Londres.,esta en las afueras del centro enfrente la estacion del metro Lambert Norte pero vale la pena ir - nosotras nos alojamos cerca y a la vuelta lo vimos y pues aqui mismo a cenar.....la comida es una mescla de china y tailandesa pero es expectacular..de bueno sabroso riquisima y el vino tambien. servicio es correcto y muy profesional sin ser pesados o antipaticos. todo con una sonrisa. Durante nuestra estancia de 5 dias creo que este fue sin duda una de las mejores cenas que hicimos. local limpio y tambien te atienden rapidamente. Un 10 muy recomendable. encima a uno precio superbarato.

The food was great the atmosphere was average our waitress was below average. She wasn’t friendly never came back to our table, I even had to find someone to pay our bill.

After traveling into London was lucky to find this place where I had a bento box for my evening meal, I know bento should be for lunch, but after working and traveling into London, I did not want a big meal but a meal with favour and textures. I got that from may Teriyaki seafood box, which with every bite filled my mouth with favours and textures. Will visit again.....

Came here with my young family as it was close to where we were staying. The building seemed clean but not flash. The waiter seated us quickly and took our order but was not at all friendly. Each dish came separately and I was half way through mine when the fourth meal arrived. But they were tasty and I would happily return. Cheap and cheerful for central London.

Just opposite Lambeth North and well-located for the Imperial War Museum (where we were going) this unpretentious cafe/restaurant offers a wide pan-oriental menu, from which we tried the crispy aromatic duck, sushi, chow mein and some starters. Everything was freshly prepared and served quickly, and my son, who loves his sushi, said this was some of the best he had ever had. Service a little brusque but efficient, place is not going to win any design awards but that's not why you go there and very good value.

Buena comida, rápido y bien de precio. Nos venía de paso para ir al hotel (Days inn waterloo) y queda justo enfrente del metro Lambeth North.

We visited twice in a week and will come again. No big-deal decor but hearty sushi, with great products, clean, tasty, modest. They don't make a fuss, just great food in authentic neighbourhood like atmosphere. This was refreshing!

Let's make no mistakes about Hikari..... If you want fancy decor etc, posh candles then don't come here. If you like simple but effective surroundings, decent food and value for money then get yourself here...... we didn't come here for 3 weeks and boy did we miss it. This week we had No91 Wonton Soup Noodles which the rates as 9/10. I had 46a. Chilli Noodles... . Fantastic value for money. If you're visiting London then this is only a noodle and a few beansprouts distance from Lambeth North tube. Do not miss this place

Einfach mal aus dem Hotel gefallen und schon in einer Sushi- Bar gestolpert. So kann man den Weg vom Park Plaza Waterloo zu diesem Restaurant beschreiben. Es ist ein Aufenthaltsraum mit Tischen und Stühlen, sehr hellhörig und etwas kühl eingerichtet. Wenn man Pech hat, bläst einem die ca. 30 Jahre alte Klimaanlage den Bart ab. Es gibt nur AN und AUS. Die Bedienung ist sehr vergeßlich, man muss mit mehrmaligen Erinnerungen bzw. Korrekturen, wenn das falsche gebracht bekommt, rechnen. Jetzt zum Essen. Natürlich nahmen wir Sushi und vorher Suppen. Alles sehr lecker mur bei den Maki kenne ich bessere Qualität und ich behaupte, für das Krebsfleich wurden Imitate genommen. Dennoch gibts 4 von 5 Punkte wegen den wahnsinnig aromatischen Suppen. Die siend absolut empfehlenswert. Wein bekommt man auch, am bsten der Sauvignon Blanc aus Südafrika. Es gibt nur den. Für einen kurzen Aufenthalt durchaus zu empfehlen, für Geschäftsessen auf keinen Fall.

Bodde på Park Plaza Waterloo som er rett over veien. Dattera hadde lyst på litt sushi så vi stakk rett over veien. Det ser ikke veldig oppusset ut utenfra og det blir bekreftet når man kommer inn. Interiøret trenger en oppgradering.Maten var som forventet. Helt OK. En grei meny. Rask levering.Vi delte en standard sushi-meny. Den var helt grei. Litt kald. Men OK smak.Grei for et raskt lite måltid til en overkommelig pris, men ikke mer.

Dropped in for a meal with a friend. Greeted by a young Asian man who seemed a bit impatient and pointed in the direction of a table at the back of the restaurant. Menus were shoved in front of us and there was very little service etiquette. The waiter seemed impatient to take the order.We both had starters and and a main plus drinks. The starters were quite tasty but the pork in the main dish was dry and hard.The Hikari would appear to be a converted pub and is a lovely old building. The decor is pleasant enough and comfortable and there is plenty of space so there is no feeling of being crowded. It was a very average meal but the price was reasonable.

Das Ambiente ist zwar nicht schön, dafür stimmt die Qualität zu günstigem Preis und rascher Bedienung. Im Lokal ist es leider eher laut, da es ein großer Raum ist. Das Essen verdient vier Sterne, nur das Ambiente und die Lautstärke machen dies zunichte.

To begin, our service was HORRIBLE. Upon walking into the restaurant, we were told to "go sit over there" as server pointed to the back corner (not a table). This was extremely confusing as there was only 1 table being used- we weren't sure where to go. Secondly, our server was rude. She was a young female that could care less. Her English was fine, and I give her no culture barrier excuse. She rushed us to give her our order and, sure enough, she was rushing too much and missed a roll. We had to call on her to come to the table to re-order the roll (the servers STOP SERVING YOU ONCE YOU PLACE YOUR ORDER). We never even got our waters we ordered. On a last complaint, the sushi is per 1 individual piece. You are over paying. The sushi rolls seemed traditionally priced, but are only for 5 THIN pieces; again, you are over paying. Last complaint:The sushi rolls are poor quality. All of our rolls fell apart with the slightest brush of a chop stick. This just screams poor sushi quality. I will never come here again and I hope I have saved a few sushi lovers some heart break.

Localizado frente a nuestro hotel, acudimos anoche a última hora como último recurso y....nos pusimos morados. La comida muy buena, especialmente el Pad Thai. Servicio rápido, precios más que razonables y...bueno, un asiático recomendable a tope. Los baños .... de aquella manera, eso si.

Quick Asian food. Chinese wonton noodle soup, sushi, tempura and prawn soup noodles. All above average for the price. Busy noisy and efficient service typical of Chinese street style. Surprisingly goof quality.

I stumbled upon this place while looking for my bus stop. I was tired, hungry, and thirsty after walking from London Bridge along the Thames, and stopped in for a quick bite. I had a curry and a couple of beers and both fine. Staff is quick, polite, and friendly.

Back here again..... Beef Laksa was top notch.... Dragon Roll is always good. The Mrs rates the Udon seafood soup all day.

I'm a Japanese living in London, so I know I'm not expecting Japanese standards, but having eaten in various Japanese restaurants outside of Japan, I found Hikari to be the most atrocious.I ordered the Chirashi Don - mind you, they have a picture with the corresponding order number, but when it came out, it was probably half of what was pictured. There was no tuna (even though on the picture there is) and absolutely very little fish. Also, they put some extra salad leaf instead of the shiso leaf. The chef supposedly trained in Japan for years, as it is written on their website, but clearly, if he thinks salad leaf is shiso leaf, then he learned nothing.Even worse after my initial disappointment, I found a piece of hair in my Chirashi Don. I quickly asked them to take it away. Perhaps it was a blessing in disguise since I told them I didn't want their small-portion Chirashi (£10.90 by the way) and ordered Duck and Rice (£6.80) to be safe. I know Japanese restaurants in London that serve better food than here (and certainly more hygienic) even for a cheap price. Never coming here again.
