Just visited this afternoon for Sunday Lunch. Best Sunday dinner we have had in a while. The staff we really friendly and very efficient .We will be back. Thank you

Visiting The Sun Inn several times over the few months since new owners took over. Always welcoming and good service. Can highly recommend the BBQ Chicken & Bacon Sandwich at lunchtime. Its delicious. Highly recommended and hope that it continues to gain business and patrons.

We had booked a table for 6 people for Sunday Lunch on arrival the bar was nice and busy with a good atmosphere, we were then shown to our table away from the bar the room was grim it felt damp and was extremely cold there was no heating at all. We had ordered our drinks so asked if they could find us another table (because at this point we were ready to leave) they moved us to another part of the pub but it was no warmer they put the electric fire on which helped a little. We ordered the Sunday Lunch and it was really well presented the beef which was brisket was lovely plenty of vegetables unfortunately these were over cooked but the rest of the meal was fine. There are no starters on the menu which was disappointing! On the whole not a good experience and we will not be going back, such a shame as the staff were really lovely and did their best to make us more comfortable…..

Lovely pub. Friendly atmosphere with a nice beer garden. The food is spot on and you get large portions. The Seafood platter was excellent as are the burgers.

We went last minute on a Saturday evening and were given a nice table away from the bar. We were served by Lorna who was very attentive and helpful. We shared Panko Prawns and Chicken Goujons in a JD sauce and both were delicious and good sized portions. For main my wife had the special Chicken Tikka kebab, which she really enjoyed and was packed with chicken. I had the 12 oz Gammon which was perfectly cooked with peas and a fried egg, which disappointingly was not runny but did not spoil the meal. The portions were so big we took a container of the excellent chips and some gammon home for the next day. The beer was well kept and the total bill including a pint of coke came to just over £49. Excellent value and service

We stumbled across this pub after visiting Shiben Hall. Oh my days what can I say, the food was amazing and freshly cooked. The homemade chips were fantastic. We loved how old the building was and the history around it. The staff were super friendly and chatty. Couldn't do enough for us. Deffinitly not a place to miss.

We had a meal at the sun inn on 14/07/23 The food was absolutely gorgeous as usual. The staff were all great as usual. While having out meal there were a couple sat at the side of us who had an issue over how the eggs were cooked. And decided to sound off to the waitress who offere to have new eggs cooked or a fresh meal. The couple grumbled and moaned and decided on a fresh meal. Obviously this takes a little time to make as there were a number of meals being prepared at that time. The bar manager came to speak to the couple who were very rude to him and had a terrible attitude and decided just as the replacement meal was arriving they were leaving and didn't want the food (Following Diane's review which is definitely not as it happened and they didn't wait the length of time she stated ) on leaving the pub they didn't pay for the food or the drinks

Lovely evening with me and my wife food was very good a big portions! Great value for money unfortunately had to endure a awful guy while we was there being rude and abrupt to staff even when they were doing everything possible to help him, very well handled by management, well done. First visit and won’t be our last!

Went for dinner with husband, ended up with him watching me eat ,he asked for fresh eggs as came hard on all day breakfast ,left the meal there said will ask if he can have some .we had to ask for fresh meal as waited 20mins then waited 35mins not asked if we wanted any drinks etc.decided to canx new meal and asked for the bill got up to pay at the bar as yet again sat waiting, to be met by an exceedingly rude man who told us in no uncertain terms to get out and not come back .I have worked in hospitality for over 30 years and never encountered such appalling customer service.

Visited this evening as a table of 5 food was very nice, big portions and great value for money, drinks are a good price too attentive friendly staff and lovely atmosphere, will definitely be back.

Having tried the Sun in for food on various occasions in the past, we went for a meal Wednesday evening as we’d heard the food had improved under new management. We weren’t disappointed! Although the menu is not extensive (in my opinion ‘less’ often means better) it is typical pub food well cooked. The star of the evening was Mia Young, the lovely waitress that served us. We had good banter with her, she was an ambassador for the pub/restaurant and it’s food. A great asset to the sun inn! We will definitely return!

Great family Sunday lunch - staff helpful and so good. A special shout out to Lorna - thanks - son is coeliac and they provided a great Yorkshire - gluten free. Can't recommend highly enough. Had beef and loads veg. Kids loved their ice cream sundaes.

We had a delicious Sunday dinner at the Sun yesterday. We couldn’t fault a thing. The food was excellent, home-cooked, piping hot, generous portions and five different vegetables. The service was spot on too - attentive and friendly. It’s good to see our local back on top form!

Just been for a Sunday Lunch, the staff were very attentive The food was good, we had the slow roasted brisket. It came with fresh veg, roast and mashed potatoes, yorkshire pudding. A lovely meal and we hope they are succesfull in this new venture.

Popped in on a quiet Monday afternoon, very friendly staff & our (almost well behaved) Labrador was made very welcome. The black pudding & chorizo bon bons were so tasty & went really well with the oven baked Camembert! Opted for the fish goujon sandwich...

We visited a few days ago and enjoyed it very much! The staff were polite and efficient and the pizzas were excellent. The only downside was that it felt quite cold inside but overall we felt very welcomed in a very friendly place!

Sunday luck carvery was excellent. Meat cooked to perfection and the roasties were the best! Staff were great and very attentive. Good to see this place finally getting to where it should be. Credit to the new owners. Will be returning.

We had heard that this establishment had been taken over a few months ago and heard good things about it.So decided to give their lockdown takeaway menu ago.Well... Just wow!An absolutely generous sublime tapas feast!The food was just so good and plentiful.I'd like to mention the gorgeous stuffed vine leaves and the buttermilk chicken as being my particular favourite but all was superb!The churros and mixed sweet box desserts were just fantastic to end with toI can't to visit when this place opens!

Haven't visited for a while, but stopped by and found the kitchen to be under new management. What a great surprise! The food was fantastic. Best pub burger I've eaten for a long time. The dessert was a proper show stopper. Will definitely be back to try the varied tapas menu soon.

Four Tapas and a side for £25. All were excellent,but a special mention must go to the meatballs which were delicious. Would definitely recommend.

We were the only 3 customers eating at the time. Service was incredibly slow and the menu very run of the mill and bore NO relation to the lovely menu online- the reason I had chosen to go there with two German friends. It was typical old style 'pub grub' and I will certainly not be going back! I felt embarrassed at the poor choice of 'chips with everything' food.The wallpaper was FISH. An angler's dream but absolutely ghastly for most people.

This was average around a six. Could improve on the meat we weren’t sure if it was cooked on the premises very thinly sliced like it was bought in. The Yorkshire puds were nice but veg not impressive not much selection. I have to say that the cheesecake was a good one though.

The last time we had Sunday Lunch at the Sun about 8 months ago it was shocking. This time it was a great improvement, not perfect but very good, and value for money. We will definitely return. Mike & Jan Drighlington .

Something has defiantly changed since last time we went here don't know whether it has completely changed owners or just chefs but NOT FOR THE BETTER!! Went last night with the last time we had visited back in June and what a disappointment it was. Everything used to be presented beautifully with top quality produce been used but could hardly say the same this time. Menu has changed with no Filet steak anymore with the sirloin been priced at 21.50 which is ridiculously overpriced when it comes with cheap peas and frozen onion rings! My partner also ordered a side of onion rings as before they were homemade but was majorly disappointed when they arrived. Actually said the ones from spoons would have been better. Got lemon meringue for desert and not even joking one of the worst I've ever had. Shop bought and cheap. Customer service is also shocking as we were just left to sit there for long periods of time without anyone seeing to us. Never even got asked if we wanted to look at deserts had to catch someone 10 mins later. Overall with the price we paid there we could have bought 2 and a half of the usual Chinese we order and we both would have enjoyed it alot more than the cheap rubbish we got served here. Like I said used to recommend this place but won't be anymore!

Visited for a drink on Sat 14th for a quick drink, very good beer and very welcoming staff, food smelled really nice so we decided to stay for tea. I’m so glad we did, we took advantage of their Special, 2 meals from the Grill Menu, a bottle of wine, or 3 pints, or 4 soft drinks for £30. It was the nicest steak I’ve had in years, everything that came with it was top notch. The guy in the restaurant was exceptional and witty. We would definitely visit again next time we are in their area.

Had Sunday lunch and it was just perfect. Hot and plentiful and very tasty. The meat was very tender and there was no skimping on the quantity- unlike some restaurants, I had a very good portion. Husband had Cumberland sausage ring and again very tasty and hot . Staff, as always very pleasant and helpful.

Friendly and great food!This was our second visit (and will NOT be our last) The staff, friendly happy and very accommodating, we including our dog were made to feel welcome from the moment we walked through the door, thank you!The food, nice menu with a good few options, so far nothing has disappointed. This time I had the cajon chicken burger and my partner had the veggie bean burger, Boyce really tasty and more than enough on the plate to suit my needs! The starters, the garlic mushrooms were spot on, you must try them!Please please put the Yorkshire puddings with beef and onion gravy back on the menu, I’ll change my rating to 5 stars if you do!

We three sisters went to Sun Inn for an evening meal and catch up. Lovely friendly staff and welcome. We had meals from grill, 2 sirloin steaks and a gammon. All cooked just as we asked. Tasty and good value.

Restaurant tried to change our time, so the kitchen could close earlier.Onion bhajis to start, one of which was so hard as to be inedible. 3 of us had Cumberland sausage & mash, which was burried under loads of peas & mange tout. The others had different dishes & they were fine.Not impressed by the service either, we had to find a waiter to ask for another bottle of wine.

Good food at excellent prices. We love the “Grill Club”. Any two grills and a bottle of wine(or three pints) for £30. I recently had the lamb leg steak and it was delicious. Well worth a visit.

I had the 2 courses for £8. Excellent value - Jon and his staff are welcoming and food substantial and tasty. Worth a visit ! Great to support this local pub.

Been going to the Sun Inn for the past couple of years and a great place for a couple of drinks or the Sunday Carvery. A few changes happened in terms of chefs and owners but still a great place. Deserves to be busier and recommend couples and families to visit this lovely pub.

We called in on spur of the moment, and so glad we did. The food was absolutely gorgeous, fresh and plentiful. The service was so quick and really friendly. Can’t fault anything at all. We will definitely be going again soon!

Really good carvery with a choice Of ham beef or pork. We all had a bit of each. Nice selection of vegetables and roast and mashed potatoes topped off with a good sized yorkshire pudding and gravy. Good beer too and friendly staff.

Absolutely fantastic couldn’t fault it lots of choice and reasonably priced . They also do a takeaway menu also reasonably priced . Nice friendly staff that would do anything to help . Definitely make it our local . Keep up the good work Jon .

We have been here once before and had a nice meal so decided to book for mother’s day. There was a set menu with a good selection to choose from including the carvery (fab last time).

Called for lunch today (19/03) we didn't book but being only 2 of us plus a 1 year old, hoped we could get a table. The staff are lovely. We had off the special menu which is 2 courses for £8 and chose Pate and garlic mushrooms to start and lasagne for our main. Have to say the lasagne, although very cheesy, which might not suit some tasts, was, without doubt the best I have tasted for a long time. Well worth a visit.

Called for lunch. Had the early bird at £8.00 for two courses. Decent choice and excellent size and quality. Fantastic value and friendly and efficient service. Try it-it’s a no brainier.

Visited today with my husband ,lovely place friendly staff ,arrived early so had to wait for our table but we didn't mind, I ordered prawn cocktail was lovely apart from the sun dried tomatoes and lack of lemon had lasagne as my main again was lovely and filling although I personally would of liked a few chips and or a side salad with it

Came here today (Sunday 3rd March) we had previously booked our table for 4pm. We arrived early and was told our table was still in use and was advised to sit at the bar. (Didn't mind that at all) we had sat at the bar for about 20 minutes then we were informed our table was ready.

What more could you ask for. Fantastic varied food menu priced accordingly, nice couple of pints and a bottle of wine to go along with it. Only live down the road and never been before but will definitely be going back. Wasn't over busy so can't judge speed of service but it was spot on for us. Next trip might be for Sunday lunch. Keep up the good work!

Been for Christmas lunch staff and food excellent great pub and atmosphere thank you all 😊 our grandchildren were made really welcome as were the rest of us we were first sitting but didn't feel rushed

my wife and I visited the sun inn yesterday evening (12/12/2018) and both opted for the 10oz steak. the food was excellent and cooked to perfection. we have in the past ran a very busy food led pub and we feel we know quality when we see it. the chef at the sun inn certainly knows his way around a kitchen and we will be back again....soon

8 of us up visiting family for the day, so 12 in total plus our pup. Service was lovely, atmosphere very friendly, comfortable, welcoming and cosy. Staff and managers very friendly. Food was lovely, especially the carvery. Prices are really good for what you get. Kids were playing nicely even with strangers when at one point one kids mum randomly started shouted at our kids (very grown up!!!) because they’d told their child to sit down so the dog didn’t jump at her, then makes up that they’d asked for their kids paw, pathetic behiaviour for an adult to shout across a pub at small children. Think she was drunk but certainly wasn’t setting a good example for any of the children and made one of ours extremely upset. Such a shame there a awful people around like that. It don’t spoil our afternoon meal catching up with our family though. We would love to have a local pub like that. Thank you very much.

What a fab place, staff incredible friendly. Food good. We stayed upstairs in the 4 rooms which are clean if basic a little kitchen, where we were left tea, milk etc. Will definitely stay again

Third time of having the carvery today, and OMG, every time has been absolutely spot on. Great meat, amazing vegetables, lovely Yorkshire pudding, topped off with a nice bottle of wine and fantastic service. Would definitely recommend!

I’m vegetarian and was disappointed initially when I went for Sunday lunch as the two options from the entire menu was pasta or salad. I spoke to waitress (Imogen) who understood my frustration and went and spoke to the chef. They let me have one of the starters as my main along with the Sunday lunch vegetables. The pudding was chocolate brownie with chocolate custard.

Me and my husband used to visit this pub years ago on a regular basis, unfortunately it did start to go downhill. We both got talking the other day and decided we would visit again as we had heard and read on here the good reviews. Well we wasn't disappointed. We have been to many pubs/restaurants but I have to say I have never ever experienced such friendly, attentive and bubbly staff! They make you feel so welcome and relaxed, and when you sit and watch them they never stand still for a moment, and I think that's a rare thing these days in establishment's! Along with the good service the food is lovely! We both had a starter which was presented lovely and then we had the carvery...Yummy! Even after we had sat down with our carvery the lady who served us our meat actually came over to us and asked if we had enough gravy and was everything okay! We can't wait to go back, the menu is great a good selection of steaks and unfortunately we was to full to order a dessert but the ones I saw other people having looked fab! I will definitely be ordering one next time! The new owners have done amazing things with this place and should be proud of what has been achieved. Keep it up guys and we will definitely become regulars

Visited today with friends for a well overdue catch-up. The Staff were warm, friendly and welcoming. The carvery was presented wonderfully and every element hot. Becky the carver was attentive and provided us with lovely slices of meat(not the usual measley portions that most carverys give you). The veg and Yorkie puds were piping hot and the gravy thick and delicious. The bar staff were on the ball and drinks were quick to arrive at the table upon ordering. Big thanks to Claire running the bar, her organisation stands out. Waiters and waitresses are exceptional , the atmosphere was alive and buzzing.

Beautiful selection of food on the new menu! Great sized portions for the price you pay and very child friendly! Will definitely be recommending to my family and friends :)

We loved the Sun Inn, we visited just as it opened and it was lovely. A few teething issues but we were well looked after. The food was fantastic. So I pressed with the children's menu, not often the children's food is on par with our own!

We have been visiting The Sun Inn for many years but unfortunately it went down hill. However we decided to give it another go when it became The Sun County Inn and wow what a difference! The makeover is lovely, wonderful service and excellent food! We will definitely be returning!!

the sunn inn... what can I say? the staff are friendly. the food is amazing. it's very family orientated... you can even take your dog and it gets a treat! I love it and highly recommend it to everyone.

Myself and my hubby came last Saturday, again lovely 3 course meal, we choose from the early bird. There is a good choice on this menu and we always have a great meal and great service already planning for our next visit.

Went last Sunday with my husband, the food was fantastic and the staff were very helpful. The decor is smart and interesting. The new owners are doing a wonderful job at keeping a community pub open and providing lovely food at great prices.

As we only live round the corner we decided to visit when the newly refurbed pub opened and we were not disappointed at all we ordered starters I had the prawn cocktail which was amazing filled with different types of prawn and was delicious and my husband had the brie the boys shared garlic bread.we all had carvery which was fresh and tasty then we had puddings it was very reasonably priced fresh hot and very tasty will deffo be returning thinking booking for Xmas x

Great place to eat and relax. Our evening was made an absolute pleasure by the friendly and professional service, high standard of the food and the traditional and very attractive surroundings. I would definitely recommend and intend returning myself.

We were looking for a pre holiday meal and tried their sister pub which was shut. We have been here before under different owners and it was average.

As a regular diner at the hare and hounds thought would give here a try, visited with my mum, the food was absolutely delicious, I got the Spanish fish and chips and sticky toffee pudding which was to die for and my mum got the steak pie which was huge and delicious as well as the doughnuts which again were to die for. Our waitress mollie was polite and friendly. Very good value, highly recommend a visit.

We had heard good reports from this restaurant and decided to give it a try. Four of us went on Friday evening and were not disappointed.

Met for lunch last Saturday. Had the 2 course lunch - lovely. Had the salmon starter and the mushroom risotto- lovely. Would recommend. Have already booked for another lunch. Jonathan and staff are helpful and efficient.

After being regular diners at The Hare and Hounds for the last 2 years we had to give their sister restaraunt a whirl. We were not disappointed. Great food.. Lovely surroundings and as always with Patrick leading the show the service was second to none from him and the rest of the staff. We will be back.

After reading the reviews we decided to try The Sun Country Inn this lunchtime and we were not disappointed! Soup starter spicy veg was so tasty, Mains were steak pie, chicken kebab and mushroom risotto all perfectly cooked, tasty and piping hot! Desserts of sticky toffee pudding and profiteroles absolutely delicious!!

We had our first visit to the sun on Saturday. A family of four, we were seated in the main restaurant area. Pretty quite for a Saturday afternoon.

We visited here mid week for a meal with our daughter. The atmosphere was good and it was busy for a Tuesday evening. Our food was lovely and much improved since the recent take over. Our waitress ELLIE was very helpful, polite and smiley. All in all a great experience and we will return.

We had a fab meal at the sun inn, back to its best. We had the steak meal deal for 2 with bottle of red wine, the steak was cooked to perfection. Our server Ellie was so lovely and attentive without being a pain in the bum . We will definitely going back

We called in for the Carvery on a Sunday priced at £8.95 which was a great price for what we got..... 4 meats and homemade pie if you wanted them all, plus the usual potato, veg and sauces.
