The Sugar Bowl in Highland

We like this cafe very much and have been here several times. On his occasion we were here for a casual lunch. The soup was excellent as was the jacket potato. There is a wide choice of casual dishes for lunch. They also do good breakfasts. It is right in the centre of kingussie and an ideal stop for drinks or food. Service is very friendly and efficient.

Lovely cafe in the centre of Kingussie offering cosy vibes, a fab selection of food/drinks/sweet treats and gifts for buying family and friends! I had breakfast here this weekend, service was great and the food was even better. Would definitely return ☺️

We were very pleased to find a nice wee café in Kingussie that served gluten free food. I had a lovely pulled pork panini. The coffee was great. The staff were very nice and friendly.

My experience here was lovely. Not only was the food good, but wow!! The customer service was fantastic. Our waiter Adam was top notch, his frappe making skills were unrivalled, his chat was funny as anything. He did tell us he’s terrified of mascots- so I wouldn’t bring them up to him. In conclusion, 10/10 experience, would definitely recommend.

Lovely wrap, delicious cake and one of the nicest coffees I’ve had for ages - not too weak or too strong. Friendly service, although as first time visitors a welcome on arrival would have helped- wandered around not really sure how it worked. But a thoroughly enjoyable experience 😊

We called in when we were passing, well spaced tables and excellent coffee. Limited food menu but fine for lunch, and quick service. Dog friendly too.

Popped in for a takeaway coffee whilst on our travels. Coffee is lovely, staff are super friendly. Really nice cafe, wish we could have stayed and sampled more from the menu. Will definitely return on our next trip!

We were waiting first in the Q when they started taking an order from the person behind. It would not have been so bad if they had not taken the last rather nice looking cake. Thoughtfully a dish is provided for teabags.

Toilets out of order didn't stay for anything to eat.I'm surprised they were open surely staff need toilets.

Stopped by here after visiting the Highland Folk Museum. Lovely mochas and scones- well worth a visit!

We live locally and are regular callers to this super cafe, been coming since they opened. Menu has changed a little over time, but consistently good and their coffee is one of our favorite ones. Had a very tasty lunch/brunch there the other day and as always it was happy, friendly, chatty and polite service.

Really delicious sausage and egg muffin. Nice cup of tea. Friendly staff. Nice selection of cakes. Clean and tidy.

We stopped at Kingussie for a break on our way north. We recharged the car at the electric charger and headed for this cafe. They have a great selection of goodies, from homemade scones and cakes to pannini and breakfast. Lovely food and lovely staff.

Stopped here for a lunch break while visiting Kingussie. Service was good, the toasties were yummy, reasonable prices and the cafe was clean and tidy. Loved the decor! There is a gift shop too but I didn't look round.

We arrived in Kingussie for a mini hol mid lunchtime, as we drove the high street the eye catching sign caught our attention so we dropped our bags and headed back, Hubby was happy you still had cooked breakfast on, kids menu had plenty of choice and my chicken tikka panini was full of flavour

Drove into Kingussie for a quick bite and also to break up a long drive from Thurso. The place was pretty busy, so I decided that it was a good sign. The decor inside is very modern, though not sure about bright orange. Round the back of the cafe, there's a shop selling locally made gifts and also some comfortable looking sofa chairs with tables, so that's where I sat.I ordered a large latte and a veggie muffin. The coffee was perfect. The muffin was good too, but I did noticed that they cooked the egg on a griddle and I'm not sure they clean meat from the surface before cooking the egg.

Had a nice wee flat white coffee here - proper good. My wife and wee boy had an excellent fresh smoothie and breakfast roll. Decent value fir quality goods. We’ll be back

We ate in here for a light lunch. The cafe itself is clean and the staff friendly. The food was pretty ropey though. I had a chicken and bacon toasties that came smothered in a nasty bbq sauce that was not mentioned on the menu, the leek and potatoe soup tated purely of pepper, and the potatoe salad was really nasty. The kids had ham sandwiches, only half buttered, and the nastiest ham I've had in a while.The only reason I'm not giving it one star is the home baking looks really good.

Just popped in for a quick breakfast, didn't know it existed but what a find. This place is amazing.. so cheery, clean, still licking my lips with the taste of the bacon!But it's the cheery,happy, profession, authentic team that is the icing on the cake.Thank you you make the world a better place

Really impressed with this cafe in Kingussie. I had the breakfast roll and coffee and it was so good I came back for lunch ( on an different dAy) and had the lunch wrap. Nice space well laid out and good quality and value food.

My partner and I were on our way home from Inverness to Glasgow today and stopped off at Kingussie to stretch our legs. Popped into the sugar bowl for a bit of brunch and were not disappointed! Great menu, right up my street. All your usual - breakfast cakes sandwiches etc. The bacon muffin was delicious and scone was too. Nice and fresh ingredients freshly prepared. Staff were lovely and we agreed how much of a difference it can make when you just give service with a smile! Don’t get enough of that these days. Lovely place to sit in and nice wee shop.

The food was fresh and excellent value. Worth a visit for a rest, after a long walk in the surrounding area. The staff were also helpful. Recommended.

We always visit whenever we stay in Kingussie. Our 3 year old loves it and the staff are always great. Good gift shop and the breakfasts are nice. Would recommend.

Dirty tables, a cup of tea that was half a mug of almost hot water with a tea bag on the side, breakfast order wrong and the saltiest bacon and driest lorne sausage I’ve ever tasted.

I don't remember seeing this place the last time I drove through Kingussie, so it may be quite new. It certainly looked clean and welcoming and I saw that it was open on Sunday morning, which was an unexpected bonus, so I made a point of going in. The staff seemed pleasant and I ordered a coffee and a piece of sponge cake. The coffee was fine and the cake passed muster, although it wasn't the best I've ever had. The toilet was very clean and comfortable. The menu for food looked pretty good too. There is also a gift shop area which I browsed while waiting to use the facilities. You can sit at window seats which give a good view out to the main street.

Very friendly and welcoming staff . We had a snack lunch and drinks and cakes . The bacon,brie and cranberry panini was excellent as was the bacon,banana and cheese toastie . Would recommend the orange , lemon and lime cake.

Faye and her team always have a smile and great attention to detail - the breakfast is highly recommended to start your day on the right foot and open from early too :-)

Great food, a warm welcome and very acceptable prices. We went there after a day out walking and were ready for a tasty snack and cake. They did not disappoint. Staff are very friendly.

We popped in today for a coffee and cake. Amazing service from great friendly staff. My kids loved it here and they are not easy pleased lol.Coffee was a lovely blend, hot chocs went down very well and cakes were baked beautifully. Will deffo be back again. Quick service from the staff and a lovely coffee.I was working away and hadn't noticed the time when I was approached and told they had closed at half 4. I apologised and said I'd be 2 minutes. And I have to add that I didn't mean to overstay my welcomeThis was followed by mutterings as he walked off that were a little unpleasant. I packed up and went through to the serving area to say thanks and ask if if I'd upset them in anyway, and was told that I was a little rude. I apologised if what I'd said had been taken the wrong way and said thanks again only to be verbally abused as I walked away. I stopped at the door and said "Seriously?" and was then told to do something that TripAdvisor doesn't let you write in reviewsCoffee was good and the highland hospitality was up there with anywhere I've been. Keep up the good work folks.I hate writing bad reviews but I'm stunned at this. Crazy stuff

Relaxed and friendly, Sugar Bowl is popular with locals and visitors alike. Good food, good service.

We were travelling east to west Scotland when we found this lovely little place that were delighted to allow our pooch Winston in. They even got him a bowl of water. Our lunch was lovely. My husband said his tomato soup was amongst the best he had tasted. My panini was delicious and served with potato salad and a vegetable salad. Comfortable surroundings. Very friendly staff. Would definately pop back if we are in the area again!

We stopped off for breakfast in this lovely little cafe. The menu is quite limited, but everything is cooked fresh right in front of you. The hot chocolates (with salted caramel syrup) were amazing, some of the best we have ever had. My husband and I both had sausage breakfast rolls and they were very tasty.

Service not the best. Asked a question and just got stared at so paid and walked back to the table. Not everyone are morning people. Food was nice. Nice enough place to come to for a quick bite to eat.

Popped in here for a coffee on my way home from the grocery store. The muffins looked AMAZING. And they didn't disappoint. The lady who served me was great - very helpful. And the patrons were quite nice as well.

Stopped here for breakfast have been on numerous occasions and service is always spot on.. nice friendly staff very clean seating area nothing is to much trouble all staff with big smiles on there faces and a warm welcome. Randomly dropped into Kingussie on our way down to Perth. What a little gem. Friendly staff, lovely clean wee cafe. I had the vege filled muffin and my husband had a fruit scone, both were lovely, filling and the coffee (flat whites) were one of the best coffees we've experienced in Scotland, I'm sorry but they can't make a good coffee consistantly. Would love to return but only passing on holiday

On vacation in the Ardverikie Estates, we popped to Kingussie where this wee cafe is located.If you’re wanting a good selection of cakes to go with you Tea / Coffee, stop by early as it’s obviously busy with locals / tourists.However, the sliced size of cake you get is already worth going for alone

This place is amazing. During my stay at Kingussie I have been here for breakfast or lunch every day. The staff is very friendly and works hard to get your order right and on time. I've had the small breakfast, hot chocolate (with whipped cream and marshmellows), the Highland Fog (recommend!), the carrot cake (amazing!) and the raspberry/white chocolate muffin. All were REALLY good. If you pass through Kingussie, make sure to give the Sugar Bowl a try!

Had breakfast here - small cooked breakfast is just enough and less than £5 including a hot drink. Young girls working in the cafe were efficient and friendly.

Perfect breakfast, cool place. We enjoyed some delicious sandwiches and scones. Very kind staff! Perfect coffee!!

First time visiting the Sugar Bowl. Decoration and visual appeal of the establishment it top notch! Very pleasant and welcoming atmosphere for all ages and nationalities, plenty of tourists popped in as well as locals, one for everyone.Meal, Coffee and value weren't to be beaten either, great value and deliciously (and fast) cook mini breakfasts, washed down with extremely well presented coffees.Definitely going to return next time I'm in the village!

I was in Kingussie for work and popped into The sugar bowl for lunch and I'm glad I did.Met by a very friendly and helpful staff, menu is small but covers all the breakfast/lunch needs.Cheese, ham and pineapple toasties with side salad, nice cup of tea and AWESOME carrot cake to takeaway.Food all freshly prepared, tasty and reasonable prices.Can't wait for work appointments in Kingussie for another Sugar Bowl lunch stop.

Stopped of here after being at the wildlife centre nearby. Seen it on trip advisor, not expensive and nice choice of meals. We only had hot drinks and cakes though. Great staff and very friendly. Highly recommend to anyone.

Got the recommendation for this one from Trip Advisor and so glad I took it as it great.Nice decor, warm welcome. In fact we were greeted by a large glass of water as the member of staff could see we had been cycling. Nice touch. Superb food and drinks and very clean toilets. Very friendly staff. We popped in on our way back from the Highland Wildlife Park. I really enjoyed the quirky decor and the staff were super friendly.We had a panini and a toasted, both were lovely served with a side salad and coleslaw. I had a cup of tea and my partner had a fudge latte which looked amazing and he loved it! Would love to visit Kingussie again and visit this lovely cafe!

Called on our way home from Aviemore. Very nice breakfasts at a fair price. We would happlily travel from Aviemore to have a lovely breakfast or lunch for much better value than Aviemore prices. The place is spotlessly clean and the people are lovely. Highly recommended.

Visited a wet afternoon in January. Lovely lentil soup and brilliant Vi toria Sponge!.We were served by a very well presented, friendly young man who was also very helpful. Very clean and tidy cafe/shop. Will def return on our next visit up North.

Came in here for a cuppa just before Christmas. Funky wee place with a selection of gifts you can buy downstairs.We had a coffee, hot chocolate and a couple of cakes to share.Staff friendly and comfy seats.Didn't look like the cakes were homemade though, hence the knock off of one star!

Food was amazing, delicious breakfast choices in a comfortable setting. The staff are just wonderful and treat you very well. Helpful for tourist and great hours. While we were there, the place was packed with smiling customers. Would highly recommend this for breakfast.

We stopped in for an afternoon break. The place was busy, and I managed to grab the last Victorian Sponge muffin which was out of this world. I also chose a latte which was equally scrumptious. You should stop in, you won't be disappointed.

Sandwiches on tasty bread. My salad.... didn't have enough salad. It was more turkey and cole slaw than greens but it all tasted okay.

This is new to us annual travelers to the area. we stopped off here for tea and cake and found the staff an absolute delight as were the victuals. let us hope that they manage to hang on trading as the rest of Kingussie seems to have died a death.

New on Kingussie High St, The Sugar Bowl has a corner position, decorated simply and modern, provides all one would need in a cafe! Good range of coffee, and teas, home made cakes, scones and sandwiches etc.(the scones were the Biggest and the Best during our annual stay in the area.) We called at least four times, BLT baguettes also filled the gap between breakfast and evening meal! For us outdoor types plenty of outdoor reading material provided with the usual newspapers. A place to dwell and catch up. Staff were pleasant and attentive, Looking forward to returning next year.

This wee gem doesn't immediately appear to be a place to eat..looks more like a tearoom from the outside..but srep inside and be greeted by happy, friendly owners and staff. It is beautifully clean and comfortable, with Bright and modern decor. The menu is varied and food is very good. The cakes are tempting and the coffee is top notch. You wont be disappointed and they do have a table outside if the weather is kind.

Great breakfast and highly recommended. Lots of choices of homemade cakes and hot chocolate that is amazing. Breakfast portions hit that goldilocks zone of just right. Very tasty breakfast and will definitely pop in again. Open throughout the week.

Driving down the A9 on a Saturday morning, looking for somewhere for a decent breakfast with good coffee. What chance of finding anywhere? Certainly not in Aviemore (utterly grim) and so I thought I'd try Kingussie, without much hope of finding anything much, it has to be said. There was the Sugar Bowl which seemed worth a try. Turned out it was worth far more than that. There are times when you know what you're looking for and then you find exactly that. This was one of those rare moments - lovely woman serving, fantastic freshly cooked breakfast roll, sublime coffee and a great space to sit and enjoy all this in. Simply fabulous, thank you.

On our frequent visits to Kinguissee this is our first choice for Coffee and cake,,always received good service and never been disappointed.

This little cafe is a real gem. Decorated in a lovely colour theme, it felt clean and welcoming. The staff were friendly, and the food and coffees were yummy. Do not hesitate to pop in here if you are going through the little town of Kingussie, we were very glad to have visited considering the bad experience we had in the other local cafe.

I love the sugar bowl, luckily for me I live in kingussie so it's my everyday latte fix the food is excellent and the scones are amazing it's a must visit cafe/ gifts you will receive a very warm welcome, a lovely place with excellent coffee and food cakes and scones

Go here on fairly regular basis....very good coffee, lovely friendly service, great cake, good selection of breakfast & lunch items. Clean and bright cafe. Selection of "gift" items on sale all of which are good quality and fairly priced.
