This is a regular coffee stop for us & is popular with our relatives from further away. The food is always very fresh with a good selection whether you’re just having a coffee & a delicious cake ( can recommend the scones or the apricot flapjack!) or brunch, lunch or afternoon tea! We had a family celebration here a while ago & we were overwhelmed with the efforts the staff went to to make the day special - excellent food & very friendly waiting staff. The staff are well informed about the food on offer & happy to cater for different needs. Our favourite place for a friendly cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate- we’ve tried them all! Only trouble is that lots of other people seem to think so too so get there early!

We decided to call in here for coffee whilst visiting Grassington but sadly did not have a good experience. On entering, we were directed to a table yet to be cleared but from then on, we were totally ignored. No-one came to take an order or even to clear the previous customers’ pots, so after 10 minutes we got up and left. With four members of staff to serve only about 20 covers, we could not understand why the service was so slow and inattentive. I cannot comment on the food or drink here as we didn’t get any but I would hope it’s better than the customer service. I leave regular reviews here on TA and seldom post negative ones but this is only the second time we have ever felt the need to walk out of anywhere. It may be we visited on an off day but on this experience we are unlikely to return during our week in the area.

We came here today for lunch. We sat outside, but the rain started halfway through our meal, the staff were very helpful in finding us a table inside and helped carry out food in. My partner had a Ploughman’s lunch which was huge, very good value. I had a very tasty sandwich. The staff were friendly and very helpful. It is Dog friendly as well, which makes a huge difference to us, as we like to travel with our small, well behaved dog. I can’t recommend this place enough, and if I could I would have given them more stars. Thanks to all.

On our first visit to Grassington ( Daraby) the TV home of All creatures great and small it was like a trip back in time. We called in too the Stripey Badger Book shop and tea rooms for tea & coffee but were tempted to try a bowl of soup to warm us up one was with a brown roll that was light and fluffy & mine came with a home made cheese scone which was large and very very nice (so unusual to get offered this). This was categorically THE BEST afternoon tea I have ever had. The ambience, decor, and friendliness experienced in The Stripey Badger was wonderful. The staff were very attentive, well presented, and couldn't do enough for us. Whilst it is a popular place, and for those that watch All creatures great and small, you may recognise it, It is a perfect spot to watch the lovely village of Grassington go about its business. The array of cakes, savouries, sandwiches, and the cream tea we had was spectacular. We had to bring some home with us, as the portions were so generous. Even my work colleagues the next day experienced some of the cakes!. and gave them the thumbs up. All beautifully home made, fresh, and accompanied by 2 pots of tea. Absolutely couldn't fault this place. 5 STARS!! The owners Jackie and Steve are simply delightful, great banter, very professional, and clearly take pride in their establishment. We loved the eclectic, crockery, and nice touches. The presentation is wonderful. We will definitely be back!! Book in advance if you want to experience the afternoon tea..There really is some work that goes into it! Perfect spot to treat my Mum for Mothers Day, THANK YOU, Stripey Badger.. Oops almost forgot, there is an adjoining bookshop which is wonderful, lots to choose from and very well presented.

Very, very slow service - we waited an age before our order was taken. We asked for 2 sausage sandwiches "on white bread please". We got baps (photo attached). Apparently, sandwiches in this part of the country are baps (or is it just this cafe?). I don't like baps, but didn't make a fuss. The little sausages were a bit tough and pathetic and a few crisps on the side seemed a bit mean (would have been better to have had none, I think). Nice little shop and great connected to a book shop, but I think you need more staff able to take the orders and serve, rather than just serve and you need to have a look at those "sandwiches" and call them baps if you can't make sandwiches. The lady who took our order was very friendly and kind. All best!

Dropped in to the Stripey Badger Café this morning 15.07.2020 to have a coffee. We sat outside on a table that had just been cleared and cleaned, overlooking the main High Street in Grassington and offered a menu. We were tempted by a bacon sandwich and ordered two decaf flat whites and a bacon sandwich on brown. We also ordered two glasses of tap water as it was a very warm morning. The coffee was excellent, the bacon sandwich was exceptional with three slices of bacon in a lovely light brown bun. The tapwater was nicely presented and had obviously come straight from the fridge. The service was excellent and very friendly without being intrusive. We would highly recommend this café. We understand that they do take outs too and we were tempted with a cream tea to take home. All in all a great experience after a long walk from Appletreewick. This refreshment set us up for the return journey and made us pleased that we had visited Grassington. Well done for your excellent establishment and attention to detail, friendly service and a great bacon roll. Next time we are in Grassington we will certainly visit again. Highly recommended.

Visited this cafe twice in a week while in Grassington for breakfast/brunch. Lovely freshly cooked bacon, sausage, eggs, etc and steaming hot, tasty coffee and tea. Service is very good too. One criticism is that some tables on both occasions were covered in recent stock deliveries or cakes that could not be crammed onto the limited available shelf space which meant diners either squeezed into them or looked in then left. The cakes are probably delicious (we didn’t try them) but are not well presented. Otherwise, if you can find room, this cafe is well worth visiting.

What's not to like about a café and a bookshop?! The Stripey Badger looked lovely so we popped in for lunch. The décor was lovely - bright and airy, decorated in pastel colours. Our drinks were brought quickly by a polite young waitress. The menu featured plenty of traditional dishes and some different ones - loved the sound of the pork pie with peas and mint sauce! I had to try the soup when I found it was cauliflower; it was accompanied by either bread or a cheese scone. The soup was OK - hot and a decent portion. The scone was clearly homemade, fresh, big and light. I just wish that a stronger cheese had been used as it was a bit tasteless. Hubby had the soup with a sandwich - at least a pound of cheese had been used! Our lunch was good value. The café wasn't busy but it seemed to take ages for the food to come out. All in all it was a good lunchtime experience and we would definitely go back. Fab bookshop too!

I visited here with a friend for lunch after a walk. It’s nice to find an independent bookshop - good selection of books and inviting atmosphere. The cafe was fine - decent selection of lunch choices. Could’ve done with some more traditional cakes (mainly scones when we visited). The food was average - tasty homemade quiche but I felt the salad could’ve done with more, and the side of crisps was a bit on the small side (I think I had three!). Staff were polite and service was efficient. A final point, the door of the bookshop was open throughout our visit - which meant the cafe wasn’t very warm.

Excellent, efficient and attentive service. Food was fresh and plentiful. I would heartily recommend. We hadn't booked, just found it by chance - will go back and have already spread the good word to others !

My first visit to this pub and what a change from many of Skiptons tourist orintated watering holes a true"local". Excellent choice of cask beers and some quickfire crac with the barman. I'll be in again.
