Had problems with the doorman two nights in a row. He gave my friend a hard time last night and said he looked like trouble, but let him in, and then again tonight with another friend ( but didn't let him in) We're a group of well dressed men in our 40's out for a drink, and that p**** has given us a hard time 2 nights in a row. We're visiting Edinburgh for thr first time. And this was a an awful experience

What a horrible place. The “bouncer” decided one member of our group couldn’t enter…. Wouldn’t give a reason. Just said no, he can’t come in. He was “of age” , well dressed , not impaired in any way. We honestly thought he was kidding… but nope… just refused entry for no reason. Felt very targeted …. So much for welcoming , safe spaces.

The nicest LGBTQI bar/club in Edinburgh. Very friendly atmosphere.

First time in the street, friendly atmosphere and clientele, great drinks and very friendly staff especially Andromeda who served us great banter and made us feel extremely welcome, looking forward to going back.

You can chat to anyone here. Nice vibe, chilled, lovely staff and friendly clientele. Everyone is welcoming. Love the art works on the walls.

Nada más entrar al bar, fuimos a la barra, pedimos de beber y el camarero nos dijo directamente que no nos iba a servir, no nos dio ninguna razón.. pésimo servicio a los clientes cuando acabábamos de salir de casa a pasar una buena noche por Edimburgo. Evidentemente no volveremos ni lo recomendaremos a nadie.

It’s an interesting bar for you to come with friends and talk to. Maybe even a date is good here. Ambient music is very interesting. The beers are a little expensive, but there are a lot of drinks. There are several different environments for you to enjoy your moment.

Very hospitable. We turned up on quiz night. Funny games and great people. What started as a quick drink ended after midnight

Had an excellent couple of nights here over the New Year weekend. Bar staff were welcoming, particularly Kerry, whose customer service brought us back for the second time. Busy venue, good music and such a friendly atmosphere. Full of a wide range of non-judgemental clientele who clearly enjoyed dancing the night away.Drink prices were cheap compared to venues we are used to. Definitely recommend this space to visitors of Edinburgh. Thanks for a great weekend!

A reminder that being gay is lots of fun sometimes

cute little bar sometimes busy and too packed and sometimes a little too loud on weekdays but generally a good bar for drinks in that area

This place used to have such a great vibe. Hadn't been for quite a while. Not much has changed, except the prices. I couldn't believe the cost of drinks now, and that money isn't being put back into the bar, which doesn't appear to have been updated in the past 15 years

Do not go here. A Sunday night after 1 drink elsewhere and 4 girls weren’t let in. My girlfriend and I were told we wouldn’t be sold a drink, very rudely. I asked why and I was escalated to the manager. The manager said it was due to us being too drunk. As I said, we had one drink previous to heading to The Street. I find this very unacceptable as I questioned the manager, who could not give us a valid reason for why, we could not enter the venue. Unbelievably bad service and hospitality. AVOID, happened 20 minutely previous to writing this post. In disbelief at the rude behaviour from staff.

This place is amazing had the best bar staff Felix and Wren you guys were beyond helpful to an irish girl just landing on her own to a city I've never been to before you guys gave me the best tourist advice aswell as the best drinks and I cannot thank you enough I've been to all the gay bars in the city and this is beyond the best did not feel welcome in any other bar than the street they make you feel so welcome and not like an outsider thank you so much for the best night.!!!!!!

I’m not someone who likes to write feedback and complaints but what happened yesterday was annoying, I went before 1 am with a couple of my friends and we tried to enter the place from the side entrance next to the stairs but we were asked by the bouncer to enter from the main door from the bar area, and then one of the bartenders (which I feel he’s the son of the owner of the place) asked us to go back to side entrance next to the stairs and we told him that one of the bartender’s asked us to use this entrance and then while we were there someone from the bar ( got black long beard) was pointing to the bouncer saying that don’t accept them, that was rude the way they did it, the least you could do is saying sorry, we are busy or we are not allowing any more people in. I have been living in Edinburgh for 5 years and going out in Edinburgh is a nightmare so shame on you making people feel uncomfortable.

Amazing Place. Excellent service. Will definitely be back. Absolutely loved the toilets and the fact they all have toilet paper!!! Definite plus!

Not great. Bar maid had serious attitude problem. She refused to serve a couple and when they asked why she told them she wasn't going to tell them why. They were older so I guess they didn't fit into her idea of the clientele she wanted in her establishment. We finished our drinks and left.

A nice wee place but would be better if it was a bit bigger as it often hard to get through the crowds when it’s busy. Friendly staff and good vibes.

Super dooper bar. I had a great experience but felt wholly compelled to leave a review after reading Rab C’s critical one right below this. The Street is an inclusive bar for anyone who wishes to experience it. I had two lovely cocktails and an excellently poured pint of Neck Oil by Beavertown. The staff were attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the products they have on offer so for that you’ve gained my repeat custom Now then, let’s talk about the language below in the review from Rab C. I am not sure it’s entirely appropriate if at all to identify people as the “lesbian” What is wrong with “the employee” Perhaps the problem is Rab C, however, as this is a bar and with my knowledge of licensing laws (in Scotland) these are in place to protect those around us in a bar and the staff also. If deemed to be intoxicated or are presenting challenging behaviour the right to refuse will always be upheld Rab. What a silly sosig you are Please do disregard such a silly silly review below This bar is fantastic.

Went in with my fiancé for a quick drink before a dinner reservation nearby, elderly bartender (male with glasses and grey hair) checked our id’s (fair enough we are 21) after bending my fiancés new passport and after looking at my drivers license and stating I was “just old enough” despite being 21 years of age, he then proceeded to fondle strangely my fiancés straw in her drink to the extent we had to get a new drink and then poured a very poor pint. Would not recommend to anyone visiting the city.

Such a cool bar. Had many a great afternoon & evening there. This is one with my cousin & Trendy Wendy. She’s a great host & DJ. Dancing highly recommended.

AVOID!! Was allowed in wearing a white dress and was in for 20 minutes, one bouncer allowed me in whilst another female bouncer asked me specially to leave because I was in a group with a hen party. I would understand if we caused a riot or wearing in appropriate wear, but I was in white whilst 5 others in black. To single me out and put me out whilst I was allowed in to begin with was very rude. Putting a single girl out on her own isn’t very wise and you would think another woman would understand this. I was standing with a drink not doing anything, female bouncer is on a power trip and needs to come down off her high horse. Will encourage everyone to avoid. Wish I read the reviews does seem to be a regular club. DO NOT GO!

A nice place but evening ruined by snappy grumpy bar person who really didn't seem to enjoy her job at all, and was very unpleasant.

Great bartenders but the most pretentious, unfriendly clientele I have experienced in a long time. People in tweed suits and designer jackets looked us up and down the moment we walked in over their semi-lunar glasses. Really uncomfortable and unpleasant. Downstairs is a bit more fun.

I don’t usually write reviews but was here last night and thought it was worth mentioning. Very rude man behind the bar who refused service, yet were serving folk who could barely stand up. Absolutely ridiculous. Only reason I’m giving 1 star as there isn’t an option for zero. Won’t be back. Were far too many people in there too, bordering on dangerous and unsafe

Beware! At a certain time of night The Street is run like an exclusive club for regulars and friends of the bar only. Unknown faces can be abruptly asked to leave when it gets busy. The female bouncer in particular has a disturbing code of conduct and is known to single out "new faces". I've seen this mentioned in a few other reviews here and felt I had to share my own experience as well.

Stumbled on this place by accident on a girls trip this weekend and absolutely loved it. The entire crowd was just great vibes - super friendly and everyone just having a good time. Drinks were reasonably priced, bar staff lovely, DJ absolutely smashing the disco music. A special mention to the lovely bouncer who gave me tea cake - made my night - thank you!

Called into the street at the weekend .(sunday ) the girl on the bar was miserable faced not at all freindly .the coctails were fine but i dont think tbey like out siders

Was in Edinburgh for a couple days with my partner for his birthday October 2021 and we decided to explore the scene in Edinburgh and this was the first bar we visited! It was a little quiet but seemed a nice place the bar staff were friendly. We stayed for a drink I expect when busier there’d be more of an atmosphere!

I’ve frequented this bar over many years, music was always great and always had a great night l, but I witnessed a female bouncer on Saturday evening use awful language to a group of girls wanting to get into the bar. This female bouncer with glasses was a power trip and called the girls stupid then proceeded to mock and make fun of them. For this reason I will not be going back as I was disgusted with this behaviour. This person needs to sacked ASAP before she ruins The Street. No need for this behaviour at all… management get it sorted

Fantastic Venue here within Edinburgh’s Gay Villiage. Albeit the village itself is small and niche The Street on the corner of Broughton Street always makes for a good choice. They have a brilliant “Street Food” menus consisting of various toastie’s, vegan options, various chilli dishes and some superb nachos. I’d say the nachos and toasties are by far the best with the nachos being made fresh (none of that béchamel cheese nonsense, proper cheese!) and toasties home made with various varieties of cheese. You can mix this up by adding fillings which are detailed within the menu. The chilli is home made and is perfect. The bar does all sorts including - cocktails, coffees, soft drinks and a variety of excellent draught products. A must visit when in Edinburgh. Locally owned and if you’re around a Friday evening pop in to see “Trendy Wendy” at the Wendy house Disco. Brilliant time had 🎉

This was a decent bar at one point. Not anymore. After a certain time they start to openly discriminate, if your face does not fit they stop serving you for any obscure reason they can come up with. This has sadly become a place to avoid if you don’t fit their profiling policy you will be treated in a negative manner. This is what they want Edinburgh to be a lovely safe shortbread tin for tourists to spend their money.

We stopped in to have a quick lunch time snack We sat outside in the sun. We perused teh menu and decided we would have coctails, which was a wise move Between us we had 2 or 3 each and they were good We tried teh loaded nacho fries, the Big Cheese and teh Tuna Melt - all execellent There were many other people enjoying teh early afternoon sun, teh drinks and food. The waiters were really friendly Great place

The securyty lady is very harrasment for pepole not form UK and they are kinda racist, not Ukraine friendly, pro Russia. Be carefull with that place. There are many other better place. Been to The Street so many times, including multiple Hogmanays with my partner. After heading to the Street and realising it was closed, decided to head to the nightclub round the corner (not realising this was an extension of the bar) was asked by the doorman ‘do you even know what this is’ my reply was ‘what do you mean’ to which I received ‘no thank you’ What answer do you actually expect from that question? Literally what does it mean?? I do understand the safeguarding but genuinely what do you expect peoples answers to be to that question? Absolutely ridiculous. Bouncer is a Grade A helmet.

Was in on Pride Saturday, the place was very, very busy. The staff were friendly,polite and service was good. Price for drinks where very reasonable. Highly recommend The Street to everyone

My cousin and I discovered this gem of a place. The staff was super friendly and on the lower level there was a show and lots of fun dancing. I love this place and people should go.

DJ Wendy House is amazing, but when they replaced her with the useless ginger / blonde DJ on Saturday night on 7th May 2022, the place became an absolute dive. Stick to the best, and not the rubbish useless folk that don’t know what they’re doing.

Asked for a Long Island Iced Tea and got something that just wasn’t it. If the staff are unsure how to make a cocktail just be honest and say. For some reason they put orange juice in it and the drink just looked like muddy water :-( On top of that, they then had someone cleaning the fish tank on the bar… really… could that not be done when the venue is closed?

Unfriendliest place in Edinburgh although preaching equality... Staff are miserable and customer service non existent.

Always a nice place to go for a drink; the staff are brilliant, and their evening entertainment is great fun, especially Glamoor Kweer Kabaret; the drag show that ran before COVID-19 arrived.

Loved the atmosphere in this place. The downstairs area looks marvellous. The drinks were delicious and all came at a very good price. The staff were chatty and kind. I had a great time.

Wonderful place, had a server called Jay who is an absolute credit to the place. Lovely, polite and never let my drink go empty - whatever they're paid it's not enough. 100% would go again.

Went in yesterday lunchtime for a drink and talked to lady manageress who was lovely. Waiter with dark hair and glasses took our details and said he would reserve a table for 8 pm downstairs. We arrived back on time and the young waiter said he had no booking for us . We had given our seats up in another bar and had to line up again to get back in. Very poor service. Drinks expensive.Will not go back.

Great gay/LGBTQ friendly bar, with a dance space downstairs. The drinks are also great value - this might have changed but last time I was there they did a wicked £4 long island ice tea. Highly reccomended all round

The street have nailed it! Felt very safe in the bar. The staff were so attentive. Still a fun and friendly atmosphere. The staff member Brooke even gave us some gorgeous sun flowers to make us smile when we left. Will definitely be back.

Realmente no es culpa del bar o del personal.También fuimos testigos de muchas personas estúpidas y groseras que entraban sin máscara y esperaban ser atendidas en el bar o ser groseras cuando se les pedía que usaran una máscara y desinfectaran las manos. Staff were terrible. I know that there is a pandemic but they made me to feel very small. Treated me like I was stupid and I will never be back.

Intenté entrar en este bar el viernes por la noche; me dijeron que estaban completos y que necesitábamos reservar llamando al bar de antemano. Sonó el sábado por la mañana y reservé una mesa para las 9 am. El portero trató de rechazarnos de nuevo en la puerta hasta que le dijimos que habíamos hecho una reserva. Al final nos dejaron entrar. El bar estaba prácticamente vacío, pero seguían rechazando a la gente. Había una fiesta privada en la planta baja sin medidas de distanciamiento social vigentes. No tiene ningún sentido rechazar a la gente en la puerta cuando hay muchas mesas libres en el bar.El personal del bar era lo suficientemente amable, pero encontré las máscaras que llevaban muy desagradables. La máscara que llevaba la niña tenía dientes y se veía muy rara. Hablamos con una pareja que estaba en floración cc el viernes por la noche. Cuando intentamos entrar en cc blooms el viernes por la noche, nos dijeron que el bar estaba lleno a las 10 pm, más tarde descubrimos que también había muchas mesas vacías a las 10 pm el viernes por la noche.La escena gay en Edimburgo era mala antes de Covid 19, pero ahora se ha hundido a un mínimo histórico. Aprecio que dirán que todo tiene que ver con COVID-19, lo cual acepto en parte, pero es como si ni siquiera estuvieran tratando de dar la bienvenida a la gente a estos bares que están prácticamente vacíos, pero siguen rechazando a la gente.

Fuimos a un espectáculo de drag y todo sobre el evento fue genial, pero el personal grosero del bar arruinó nuestra noche. El miembro del bar que nos atendió, tiene un tatuaje de Captain Marvel y un peinado con aspecto de salmonete. Fueron muy groseros y se comportaron de manera desagradable mientras pedimos nuestras bebidas. Nuestras bebidas se dejaron al otro lado de donde estábamos parados, así que tuvimos que alcanzar el bar para recogerlas nosotros mismos, ya que ya habían comenzado a servir a otros antes de terminar nuestro pedido. También se volvieron extremadamente groseros cuando pedimos dos bebidas cada uno. Si simplemente se nos dijera que no podríamos comprar dos bebidas cada una, lo hubiéramos entendido, excepto que otros clientes hubieran pedido múltiples para ellos mientras nos lo negaban. El tono ofensivo y la naturaleza agresiva de este servidor no fue una cálida bienvenida y para una niña menor de 20 años nos desanimó mucho volver aquí. Definitivamente dejaríamos el lugar si este servidor estuviera allí nuevamente.

Was here on a night out last night and had a bad experience with a member of bar staff with dark hair and tattoos. They were extremely rude and made me feel like I wasn’t welcomed. Prices extortionate for a student night.

A veces voy aquí después del trabajo, solo por una 'pareja', me encuentro con amigos aquí para ponerme al día y algunos más, entro por una hora y termino quedando por muchos más. El personal del bar es excelente, a pesar de que hay muchas caras nuevas en este momento y, con el fantástico personal de la puerta, te sientes seguro.
