A restaurant that I like! We have found very few vegetarian restaurants of this quality. I have always been well received, alone or accompanied despite not having booked. The vegetables are well presented, a real farandole of tastes, the service provided by a caring staff. And the sublime cuisine by gold chefs, My favorite place when I'm in this city. God bless Edinburgh! And David bann restaurant. 😉

We went to David Bann yesterday, and it is an absolute gem for anyone looking for innovative and flavorful vegetarian cuisine! We had the koftas of aubergine which are rich and beautifully spiced, offering a satisfying texture and depth of flavor. The wild mushroom strudel is an absolute standout, with delicate, flaky pastry encasing a wonderfully earthy filling. The leafy blue cheese and betrrot salad is fresh and vibrant, with the tangy cheese perfectly complementing the sweetness of the beetroot. To top it all off, the service is truly exceptional. Our waiter Albert went above and beyond to ensure we had an unforgettable experience. His attentiveness and knowledge of the menu made our visit even more special. Whether you're vegetarian or not, David Bann is a must-visit in Edinburgh. With its creative dishes, full of flavours and outstanding service, it’s a place that leaves a lasting impression. Popped into David Bann Restaurant for a quiet solo meal because of its proximity to my hotel, and I'm so glad I did. In my experience you can expect a warm welcome, the loveliest staff and exemplary service, not to mention delicious food. The menu is varied but not too large (I'm always happier with a shorter menu that focuses on quality). I'm not vegetarian but honestly didn't miss having meat options. Portion sizes are generous but not ridiculous. I enjoyed a large bowl of soup with 2 decent-sized pieces of tasty bread followed by a very reasonably sized main course. I couldn't manage a pudding, although the menu made it very tempting. Prices are very reasonable for the level of service, food and central location. All in all, I'd highly recommend a visit and will make a point of going back to sample one of those puddings!

A favourite of ours for many years, prior to moving to Scotland. Unique and inventive menu, stylish setting, and accommodating bar staff who have always been courteous enough to tweak a drink when needed. Very memorable birthday dinner here in 2021, when my friends brought out a cake for me, so they also allow that, which is lovely. It must be said, however, that the calibre of service has undoubtedly slipped in the last 2 years. We have noticed a couple of waiters, one in particular who we have had each time during recent visits, that have ruined the experience. The latter being noticeably miserable and not deserving of the service charge. The last few menus haven’t been great either. But fond memories from years past, and absolutely a top choice in Edinburgh.

Took my vegetarian wife here for a birthday meal and we both loved it! Small hiccup with the starters not coming out for over 1 hour, however, the business acknowledged the mistake without us asking and offered a top up of our wine - that's what matters. We had the chunky chips with homemade ketchup along with the bread and hummous to start - both were lovely. For mains we had the koftas and the mushroom pastry. Amazing flavours in both dishes! Finished it off with the dessert for two along with some nice organic red wine. Will definitely be back :)

Came in solo for a walk in and was seated right away. Consommé on arrival, cocktail was ok but wasn’t offered another even though I was done before my meal arrived, I would have ordered another. Loved the citrus and mint in the water jug. Food was FANTASTIC. I had the Mushroom strudel, and soufflé for dessert. Soufflé might have needed a little more time in the oven as it was very liquid in the middle but was very yummy. Portion sizes were perfect and reasonably priced. Didn’t feel awkward in my outfit. Really enjoyed and would come back.

We recently came here while staying in the city and cannot recommend it highly enough. I had the Aubergine Koftas in the curry sauce and it tasted amazing. My partner had the mushroom, cheese and ale strudel and again it was lovely. The puddings were the pana cotta which was delicious and the ginger ice cream on orange cake, which was good. We also had a couple of mocktails which were equally great. The whole meal was very reasonably priced, I think the two courses and drinks came to approx. £60-70. To top it off the service was very good. The waiter was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Despite me not being vegetarian or vegan I can't wait to go back!

We first went to David Bann over 25 years ago and it was as good then as it is now! A great experience for a vegetarian and a non vegetarian! Even or two doses who are meat eaters were impressed. Service attentive and a great meal.

Took my lovely wife for a fancy dinner on Valentine’s Day… yes, I’m the perfect husband 😏 She had gnocchi for starter and the veggie haggis for main. I had the superior meal, of course, consisting of smoked tofu to start and the best mushroom basil risotto my gorgeous lips have ever touched… had to ask for a spoon, so I could shove more of it into my mouth 🤤 Service was fast, accurate and the staff laughed at all my jokes. To be expected, I am hilarious 🥸 They even took our coats, put them on the cloak room and brought them back to our table along with the bill! Great food, nice, clean and calm atmosphere and amazing food!

David Bann has been around in Edinburgh since 2022 and I reckon it was almost as long since my last visit. I'm not a Vegetarian, but two of my non-native collegues are and were after somewhere they would be guaranteed a good meal. Sorted, I thought. Here's my thinking - the food is fine, not well seasoned or particularly moreish, but fine. Was it any better than I might have expected if I'd made it myself? Not particularly. But here's the thing - you are paying around £9 for a starter and £19 for a main course. For that money it should be a better. The ingredients need to zing andthe combinations make you reappraise a Vegetarian diet. They didn't. And the experience? No music, evasive service, super -bright lighting and literally dozens of unused tables and chairs. There is no way David Bann needs to have so many chair and tables. This restaurantwill never be full to the brim. My advice if you are a mixed Veggie / No Veggie party - go somewhere else with more of an atmosphere. This was so tired and sad.

It's been some time since we last ate here.The reviews continue to reflect the excellent food created and cooked by a skilled team. The dishes are different, delicious and served by attentive and knowledgeable staff. I ordered aubergine koftas for a main and when I asked for the recipe one of the team was more than happy to describe how the dishes was created. I remember the days when recipe cards were available.....that was a long time ago. How about a cook book? Great place to eat.... don't miss it!

Words fail me to be able to explain how special the food is here, I've been coming for over 10 years now although not regularly as I don't get many chances to visit, but each time David Bann is an amazing experience. The attention to detail in the presentation and flavours of each dish is just off the scale and something you don't find elsewhere. I'm vegan and plenty of the dishes are clearly labelled vegan and many can be made vegan for you. The restaurant itself is immaculate, nice ambience and lovely staff who look after you well. Just go... it'll be so much better than I could ever describe it to you!!!

The starter was a blue cheese salad and the mixed leaves were identical to the content of leaves from a supermarket packet. The waiter confirmed that they were pre-packed and delivered every morning. I had hoped a dedicated vegetarian restaurant would have made up its own sourced leaves and provided more variety than Tescos. The second course was haggis wrapped in courgette rolls. ~The haggis resembled haggis but that was its only identifying feature. It was completely tastless and swimming in a watery gravy which added no flavour whatsoever to the other items on the plate. I complained and received apologies and a refund on this second course.

Fresh, delicious, inventive dishes. I’m an omnivore but was wanting something healthier after a lot of low-veg meals while traveling. I was blown away by the quality; one of the best meals I’ve had. Healthy but also rich and substantial; I didn’t miss meat one bit. This is not one to miss. I got the Leafy smoked tofu salad (appetizer size) and the gnocchi with warm peach salad. The gnocchi was truly special.

Vegetarian signature dishes, good in overall however missing something. We had the Papardelle, sweet potatoes kofta and risotto. Portions were generous, taste good but not unforgettable. Without any salt/pepper/spices/bread/cheese on the table it's hard for customers to fine tune their plate to match individual taste, maybe add that? Asides, the dining room is a little cold and boring.

I had to go all the way to Edinburgh to eat vegetarian and vegan. Finally a restaurant for people who, like me, don't eat meat. The dishes are well presented and tempting, whereas many people like to tell vegetarians that they only eat salad. Well no! The dishes are as good as they are beautiful, a real delight. Small downside on the speed of execution of the dishes. In fact, we ate the starter and the main course in less than an hour which is too fast for us but we understand that in such a touristy place, you have to go quickly. That said, this in no way detracts from the quality of the dishes. The prices are also very affordable. I highly recommend.

I am not a vegetarian, but was traveling with a friend who is both gluten-free and a vegetarian. I would go back to David Bann on my own, so delicious was my pea, mint, basil pudding. The service was impeccable, attentive but not hovering. We enjoyed a leisurely meal, and left with that warm glow of a great meal.

Efficient and very friendly service who knows the menu and was able to adapt the menu to our request. Thus the gnocchi starter could be transformed into a main course and the scoop of ice cream accompanying the chocolate fondant could be changed. Everything was extremely good! The atmosphere is subdued and rather calm in the restaurant thanks to the sound-absorbing wood panels which decorate all the walls of the room. We were able to settle in at 6 p.m. on a Monday evening at the beginning of September without booking but I still recommend a reservation because the reception manager's notebook still seemed quite full. For information, the toilets are in the basement, so there are stairs to go down to get there.

Disappointed expectations! Nice atmosphere but risotto overcooked and the grains drowned in oil could not be distinguished! Service not attentive and too hasty Drink chosen from the list but sold out so I fall back on another one suggested by them, but wasn't it better to indicate it first? In the end, having to necessarily choose to leave a tip (starting from 10% and up) was quite annoying! We are not in America!

Excellent vegetarian food in a very pleasant atmosphere. Original, tasty dishes, brilliantly prepared. We ate one day and repeated for dinner another day. The risotto was exquisite, the organic noodles were very good, the eggplant was great, and the dessert (vanilla panna cotta) was very delicious. And the service, attended to efficiently and sympathetically by Sara, was great. Congratulations to the kitchen team and Rubén, a Spanish chef who has been here for many years. Really disappointing experience with the food. Salad was flat and sparse with the pomegranate and even the pomegranate that was in it was pale and transparent! Soup was average.

Lovely place to go to for food and/or drink. Service is good and I thought the prices were pretty decent too. Recommend the baked potatoes and chai latte.
