We booked this family run hotel for a funeral tea for my brother. Having never been before we dropped in for a visit, and were warmly welcomed by the owners, we were given reassurance about the day and could tell that they have experience in this type of event. We were not disappointed the food was warm and plentiful. We were all well looked after, the atmosphere relaxed. nothing was too much trouble. We appreciate everything that was done to help us on this sad and stressful day. I would like to go back one day in happier circumstances.

We stayed one night in a family room, lovely well equipped room with exceptionally good bathroom walk in shower, super clean! The quarter wall division in the room meant we did not feel crowded and had our own areas. We decided to eat in, and were really really impressed with the food, everything was delicious imaginative and hot! Recommend the haggis balls! Steak pie was packed full of meat and pastry top to die for! Fish and chips were excellent as we're the fajitas, only wish we had room for the gorgeous puds! Thank you Tom for all the kind attention and good advice on travel We will come again, and would go there to eat even were we staying somewhere else so good was it Big thank you for making a milestone birthday trip memorable for every good reason

This was my first visit. A Thursday evening and it was pretty quiet. They offer a set price menu which was very reasonable. I had the haggis balls starter which was a good portion size and loads of flavour. For my main I had the steak, this costs an additional £5 but comes with choice of sauce if you want it. The steak was average but overall I enjoyed the meal. Service was very good.

Stay arranged at short notice and the staff, particularly Richard and Michelle couldn’t have been more helpful as they were during our stay. Can only repeat the many positive comments previously given on TA. The price was very reasonable and reflected good value, especially as free car parking provided. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again

We popped into the Northfield HousemHotel bar for a pleasant drink and perhaps dinner in the extension. The wine choice was incredibly limited and sadly even their best was pretty poor quality. It does seem that their key target customers are funeral parties who are less discriminating for obvious reasons. The experience in the bar was so poor that we very quickly decided not to have dinner there. Would not recommend this venue!

We had been here before after a funeral and were very impressed, the conservatory was bright & airy and a very nice selection of food; based on that good experience we decided to return for lunch and meet up with friends. Unfortunately we were in a very small area; two of the seats were normal dining chairs but really needed re-stuffing; the other seats were low bench type which is not ideal when eating a meal. We were extremely disappointed with the very limited lunch menu; only three main courses, plus sandwiches and paninis; that said we did enjoy what we had; but a bigger choice would have been preferable. It seems to be a popular venue for funerals which is probably why there is such a limited lunch menu.

I had a meal here for the first time. I must say it's not the usual pub food I had been expecting. Every dish was freshly prepared with quality ingredients. I had a burger and was impressed to see a freshly hand-made burger served in a really nice bun. Everything about the evening was great including the price. For home cooking style food the price was very resonable. The menu too was un-fussy. A small selection of home cooked favourites. Plenty of choice for all the family. Keep up the good work Northfield House Hotel and hang onto your chef. He's a winner.

This hotel is situated on the outskirts of Edinburgh. There are no resteraunts located within walking distance. Monday's the resteraunt is closed. The best option was to take a number 31 bus from the bus stop directly outside the hotel. For £1.60 you can take a 12 min journey to Edinburgh Centre. Buses run every 10 mins. The hotel rooms are comfortable with large TV's. The shower rooms are on the small side. As a business traveller this hotel was perfect. As a holiday hotel it's out of the way

Visited here with 3 others for dinner. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Dining room tastefully decorated and open fire which was lovely on a cool evening.l started with a seafood medley of smoked salmon and prawns with a nice salad . It came with whole meal bread but perhaps oatcakes would have raised it a level but it was well presented and very tasty. For my main I chose fillet of sea bass with new potatoes. Fish was beautifully cooked but didn't really see or taste the sauce , which was meant to have garlic in it! No sign of it at all on the plate! Bit disappointed. All in all though nice food was had by all and really friendly people. Reasonably priced and a relaxed atmosphere . Certainly everyone was pleased with their food so worth a visit if you're in the area.

Met a colleague here for a quick bite to eat and a chat, there are two places for eating within the hotel, we went for the smaller coffee shop area to the Left hand side upon entry. From recollection this place could seat approx 30 people and on the day we were in there was only another couple of people in. Very relaxed atmosphere and no pressure from staff which was nice.Menu is small but has a reasonable selection and at a reasonable price. No complaints from either of us over the food either.Definitely a place I would consider again if I was in the areas

Our party of 4 adults and a toddler visited the bright conservatory restaurant late on a Sunday afternoon. Outside was a decking area which I guess is used for lunch on warmer days. The menu was sufficiently varied to cater for all tastes, and the portion sizes were good. Most plates were cleared, probably the biggest criticism was about the vegetarian pasta which was 'bland but ok'.Service was fine, but the room was left unattended for a few minutes at a time later in the meal.I'll have no problem returning to this venue, but it did not have anything special that would make me go out of my way to visit.

Toddled in here as the weather was fine and I always enjoy eating outside. As a local I knew that this was the place to eat if you wanted outside dining as the decking is lovely with fine gardens and south facing to catch the little bit of sun before if set. I opted for the two courses for £12 based on the fact that it included homemade cheescake ( it was most definitely homemade by the owner) who is very friendly and always has a smile- which is difficult in this business. The main course was fine enough although the bun not toasted as requested (a bit soggy) but the chips were amazing and the salad fine too. The cheesecake was the best that I have tasted in a while and I will return for this alone! Also, to try the main menu as the two for £12 is of course limited. There is also a lovely room which is used as a cafe, a conservatory, a bar and other dining area which would be great for private functions as quite grand. It is a family run place and this is usually the best place to eat as the owners depend on returning trade for their livelihood. See you soon for the cheesecake experience.

we organised a night out for 10 of our church group and whilst six opted for the set menu£19:95 for three courses with a choice of four starters four mains including a Vegetarian option and four desserts plus Ice Cream too plus tea or coffee and Shortbread , the other 4 opted to go A-La -Carte and hotel were ok with that option .Food was piping hot and delicious throughout and the Lamb was so tasty and tender .No alcohol drunk but Hotel kept coming and filling us up with iced water and soft drinks which were reasonably priced .we were there on a Wednesday evening and had the Conservatory part to ourselves but there is a separate Dining area should we have wanted it but the Conservatory is so bright that was where we opted to eat .we arrived at 7:30 pm and left at about !030 pm and found the food came at a nice relaxed speed allowing us time to enjoy the food without being in anyway rushed .Food was very reasonable and the plates etc were very smart as was the decor of the seating .Will be back another night to sample the food and it wont be too long either

We have recently moved very close to this Hotel and had hoped it would be a nice spot for a pub lunch. We popped in on Sunday, 24 August. The waiter could not have been more friendly and professional. We were seated in the conservatory. It was nice and bright, if a little warm until the staff opened the doors to the beer garden beyond. There would appear to be another dining area, which looks set up for Hotel breakfasts, and a coffee shop with tables and chairs. We were the first in, but the conservatory filled up a little as we ate. I was surprised that it never got busier, given it was a Bank Holiday weekend. The menu was fairly limited, but we had little difficulty finding things we liked on the menu. My wife and I had the chicken caesar salad and my mother had the fish and chips. Simple, but decent grub. The price was reasonable. The well tended Hotel garden has lots of tables and looks like a nice place to spend a sunny afternoon. Somewhat surprisingly, though, the Hotel has no lounge/bar area, that I saw anyway. I got the feeling it is trying to move away from being a drinking to an eating establishment. the local area lacks a good pub and I feel that the Hotel is missing a trick.Definitely somewhere we will visit again.

Not much to say.It wasn't a really inspiring meal or anything special but it was good food.Service was good and prices reasonably. Good setting if you have larger groups.I would definitely go back but that may be partly because it's only 3mins walk away. They also have a wee coffee shop area during the day which looked like a nice wee place to relax.

Had dinner here on a Saturday night with other members of my family whilst visiting Edinburgh for a family funeral. The restaurant wasn't very busy but nonetheless we still had a nice meal. We had previously dined here and the menu selection wasn't as expansive as I recalled. However, there was more than enough choice for us. I had the lentil soup for starters and for the main course I tried the Haddock and chips. Both were very nice. We washed the meal down with a couple of bottles of Rioja between us. Throughout what turned out to be quite a long night we received excellent service from the staff. The bill came to just under £70 per head but the majority was made up of drinks, particularly whisky - well it be rude not to when visiting Scotland!! Slainte Mhath

Bra ställe, snygg kille i baren. Fräscha toaletter men lite dåligt tryck i kranen. Goda drinkar men förväntade oss roligare dricksglas. Ok Tiki-inredning men kunde varit roligare.

Had a lovely time at Haute Dolci in Edinburgh, with a great location overlooking Princes Street. The venue has a wonderful atmosphere, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The desserts were beautifully presented and tasted good. However, I think the mango shake could be better. That said, I'd still recommend this place for the ambiance and service 👌🏻

I opted for the Mac’N Cheese as you can see. It tasted very nice, although there appeared to be a shortage of thick creamy cheese sauce. There was a side of garlic bread which enhanced the experience. The garlic bread was a little overdone. did ask to have a piece of cutlery changed as it was marked. The atmosphere was ok to start the night although it quietened down quite dramatically as it got a bit later.
