We visit Greenslate farm at least once a week as a family for lunch or a coffee & have never been disappointed. The food is lovely, so reasonably priced & the staff are all super friendly. We love coming here at all times throughout the year & consider ourselves so lucky to have this on our doorstep.

Lovely food and really lovely, helpful staff. Great little quirky urban farm. Would recommend a visit. We went on a Saturday for lunch after a walk round the farm.

We visit The Straw Bale regularly and have tried a good variety of the food on offer. From the full English breakfast to to tea cakes, everything has always been very tasty and served in good time. The staff are always very friendly and there's a really nice atmosphere in the cafe, whether it's quiet or really busy. Prices are very reasonable too.

Its at Greenslate Farm read my review on that for more but the cafe was very good, chilled, well turned out with a big covered deck to sit and gaze at the countryside all around you. does not feel like part of wigan. One of those places. Had a nice lunch, coffee. cake looks dangerously good. Nice energy about the place.

After a short trip around the farm we felt we should support the venture by buying warm snacks and drinks. All of the inside tables were either occupied or hadn't been cleared but it was cold out so we cleared one of the tables. After placing our order I noticed my 3 year old grandsons hands were filthy though I had sanitised them before we came in. Out came the wet wipes and I used the wipe to wipe the table in front of him identifying the source of the muck. When our drinks came they had the order wrong. When the food came there was a very dirty knife in the cutlery holder. We asked for ketchup but lunches we're getting cold over the duration we waited. The delay to decant from a catering size bottle could have been overcome if we had been asked if we wanted ketchup when placing our order. On the plus side the triple cooked chips were great. I'd like to think that the problems were down to having been extra busy as this was the Friday at the end of half term week and the nicest day of the week but the fact that tables remained uncleared when nobody was needing serving suggests otherwise.... A great shame as we had overheard others commenting on delays in service and like us they may choose to dine elsewhere after future visits

We hired the Strawbale Café for our karate club Christmas party. They did all the catering and it was really excellent. We had hotpot and a selection of sandwiches, pies, sausage rolls, mince pies and chocolate cake. Everything was freshly made and delicious. They can cater for vegetarians and vegans as well although we did not need this. We were able to choose what we wanted on the menu and remove items which we didn’t want and replace them with things we did want. The staff were so friendly and helpful and we would not hesitate to book again. They were also keen to know if there was anything they could do better or differently. They also applied for a licence so we could have a bar. It was an excellent evening - thank you so much Ian & staff, see you in the new year and Merry Christmas from Linsey & Richard

What a lovely cafe hidden on a community farm. Staff are amazing and so welcoming. And the menu is great. Not too many items which show everything is made fresh to order. Lots of Homemade cakes to choose from. I had the full breakfast which I couldn’t fault, everything you could want all served piping hot, which came with 2 slices of toast and butter. An absolute bargain for less than £9. Latte was hot and a really nice tasting coffee. I will be returning time after time. You won’t be disappointed

We went for the first time after friends recommended it. It's hidden away but only a 3 or 4 minute drive from the main road. It's a nice setting very clean and plenty going on. They have a good assortment of food something for everyone really all freshly made. The breakfast is very good Plenty of animals outside for you to see, kids will love it but paths are muddy so take your wellies, plenty of hand washing sinks for after too.

I'm a little late with this one. here early October. I'd not actually heard of it but was taken for lunch by a friend who visits this area frequently. part of the Greenslate community farm, it's a lovely place, rustic and very family friendly. good for breakfast and lunch, or just tea/coffee and cake, everything's home made. simply fayre, but done well. on this occasion I went for a toasted panini, ham and cheese, served with salad, coleslaw and crisps. very tasty. there is also a specials board for more substantial meals as well. to follow, a nice pot of tea and a slice of their lemon drizzle cake, beautiful, who doesn't love home made cake. service throughout was quick and friendly, despite it being pretty busy, and the place had a nice atmosphere. I will happily go back again.

Very disappointed in Sunday lunch today ,the food came cold, no flavour in anything, no vegetarian choice in with the Sunday roast and it was served on cold bowls not plates.
