Service was great and the beer well looked after

Went in at around midday just looking for somewhere to shelter from the cold and was welcomed with open arms, even allowed to play a couple games on the darts board free charge, excellent service and a very welcoming atmosphere, definitely will be visiting again to try some food

The pub is the best it has been for a long time. The landlord and landlady are top quality. Always a fantastic atmosphere no matter what day of the week you go in and always a friendly face to greet you. The artists are always absolutely brilliant and the karaoke always gets the crowd going! 10/10!!

The pub has had a significant revamp , staff are really friendly and welcoming and very much invested in the business . Great feedback from other friends that have been in too . As part of the pool team the landlady, Louise has gone out of her way to show her wishes to keep our pool squad going so this has been really pleasing. This has always been a great pub and I'm sure it will soar to new heights !

Since re-opening under new management the Black Bull hotel immediately gives a sense of welcome, it is very clean and tidy inside with a very professional workforce. It has been given the uplift it required.

Wow! What a difference a week makes! The new Landlady and Landlord have really turned the place around and breathed new life into it. The staff are really friendly and warm to everyone who comes in and everything is so clean. Truly the heart of the community. The dog and child friendly beer garden is large enough for the kids to run around and let off some steam whilst the mums can unwind, enjoying a nice crisp glass of wine on a sunny day. There is live music, karaoke, a jukebox, a pool table and the new dart board looks amazing. The Landlady and Landlord have plans of more improvements to come, so watch this space!

Absolutely amazing. Super cheap. Atmosphere is fantastic. The band was loud and proud. Toilets and clean. Bar staff are super nice.

Went there to donate stuff for Ukraine, the landlord welcomed us and thanked us, he gave up a room of his pub which was three quarters full, if the rest of our country is half what this man is doing its a good lifeline for our friends.

Ellie and Carl are fantastic hosts and always go above and beyond to help their customers. I'd most definitely recommend anyone in Standish or just visiting to call in and sample the fantastic drinks they gave on offer.

I have lived in Standish for 4 years now and visited this pub on many occasions while living here. The management and all the team working here are very friendly and welcoming. The prices for drinks is very reasonable and the karaoke nights are great fun. You can also play 2 games of pool for just £1. Black bull is also dog friendly which is great too.

Lovely pub in the heart of Standish , before covid the Juke box and pool table was an absolute gem , I'm sure after covid it will be too. Has the proper pub feeling inside and also has a large outside beer garden for the summer

Me and my five girlfriends went to the blackbull last bank holiday Sunday and had a blast, the landlords Ellie and Carl and their staff were brilliant keeping all us rowdy girls served with bottles of Prosecco and shots, prices were spot on some places over charge,atmosphere was great, definitely recommend this little gem, all the best Janine and her tipsey friends 🤪

I have lived in Standish some years now and never paid much attention to the Blackbull, but with new owners in place and being allowed out after the last lockdown me and my husband thought why not, what a fantastic little pub, beer garden outside is large,clean and tidy, the new owners are brilliant, they make you feel right at home, the bar staff who are doing table service can’t do enough for you and try and serve you has fast as they can considering it’s table services at the moment and it can be busy, we will definitely be back and once they start doing food we will probably be there even more, good work guys, thank you.

First time out in over a year. We were given an extremely warm welcome by owners Karl and Ellie. Made to feel at ease straight away. COVID secure. Drinks are well Priced with a massive range to choose from. Lovely beer garden and warm and welcoming inside. Can’t wait to visit again.

Visited recently and was very happy with what the new owners have done. The beer garden was laid out really well and the owners were very friendly and welcoming. There was a great range of drinks at great prices. Every covid restriction was in place. Will be back again!

Recently under new managment now run by the lovely Ellie and Karl. All staff have been very welcoming since reopening and cant do enough for us while we all sit and drink. The pub is really well organised with the Covid restrictions and making every effort to keep everyone safe and comfortable in a relaxing spacious outdoor enviroment Do yourself a favour and call in and and get a drink

Nice local, classic horse racing pub.

Me and my friends were drinking in there for 3 hours and just before we left we had a game of pool. The landlord came over and said he hadn’t seen any of us have a drink all night (we’d been on over 3 hours and had about 5 Pints each). He took the white ball away and wouldn’t let us continue. At that point we left and vowed never to come back. If In standish I would advise the lychgate or the potters. Friendlier staff and much cheaper drinks. Avoid at all costs!!!’

Great atmosphere and friendly bar staff. Has live music, all the sports on large screens and every Friday Karaoke. They keep it real with prices and have promotions on different drinks. All in all a great all round local pub!

Called in the pub hardly anyone in the place me and my son went to play pool the fire door to the smoking area was open with a nice breeze coming through. Then the landlord came down all bolshy and slammed the fire door I asked why has he done this and he said fire regulations. I am aware of the procedure and for him to be this way is beyond me I knew before he slammed the door shut. He needs a induction in customer services good style !
