Went at bonfire 🔥 night , food disgusting , went new year food disgusting , my granddaughter worked all over Christmas and New year all tips had to go in a glass to be divided out , she ended up with £20 , which I feel is shocking ,she was none stop on both days , will not be going again .

Went in last night with the family. Can't fault it nice food, the kids loved it. I had chilli con carne and it was decent. My wife had the burger which to be fair was outstanding. My mother in law had some pasta and she was happy. I've not been here since the eat out to help out but I'll certainly be coming back. Thanks very much.

We visited the crown for afternoon tea. I have to say it was fantastic. Great value for money and the best scones ever. The sandwiches were very fresh and a great selection of cakes.

Had my wife’s wake with 50 people attending having paid over £700 for the buffet when we arrived found the restaurant cold the hot drinks weren’t ready nobody checked if every thing was ok the manager was not available we had to buy hot drinks overall a very disappointing experience they need to get there act sorted quickly

We came here for birthday tea for my husband. The minute we walked in we were made to feel welcome. The Crown and a lovely vibe, so peaceful and relaxing with a lovely homely feel. The food was amazing and the portion sizes were generous. I had the steak and ale pie with chunky hand made chips. (Wow). My husband had the chicken burger which did not leave him disappointed. I would highly recommend this pub whether it be for a quiet drink or food. The staff could not do enough, nothing was too much trouble. Defined 10 out of 10!

Had dinner there today and had Beef brisket roast. Wow it was amazing. Loads of fresh veg not overcooked. Huge yorkshire pudding and lots of lovely beef. 10/10

We went as a party of 9, on the 21st December. The staff were very attentive and friendly, I am going to give the food and service 5 stars, the Christmas menu was excellent and the price was excellent x 😋 😊 I would and have already recommended to friends and family.

Went to our Christmas do here on Friday night and the service was spot on! 26 of us ate, drank and had a fab time. The food came out hot and prompt, but not too quickly that we felt rushed. The staff were absolutely fantastic and couldn't fault a thing. Well done to you all and merry Christmas!

Just been for a gathering with my ladies abd can honestly say it is the best pub grub I have gad. All made from scratch, food tasted amazing and service was excellent. Will definitely going back abd have already recommended it to family for our next meal out.

It's a large pub with plenty of dining areas and excellent food. A good stopover (in our case en route from Scotland to London), just off the M6. Plenty of car parking space. Ours was a cosy room with a view over the surrounding fields. No problem charging your phone or anything, I counted 8 x double sockets around the room, including both sides of the bed! A really good shower (apparently they've just installed a heavyweight pump to boost the pressure in the bathrooms). The staff were excellent and we had a great evening in the bar chatting till late with staff and locals. Be warned, they only do breakfast on a Sunday morning. It's a dog-friendly pub, which is great, but not so great when a dog starts barking relentlessly at 0740 on a Sunday.

Not been here for a long time thought would pay a visit, staff was very welcoming had the option to eat in the bar area or restaurant area, we chose the restaurant area which when sitting down realised we was the only one's there ,we chose homemade steak pie and homemade cheese and onion pie both with chips and veg and separate gravy, both pies where delicious I personally didn't enjoy my chips ( chunky chips) most of them where thin and crispy,my partner enjoyed his, overall wasn't too bad,but not much choice on the main menu

This was the first time visiting since it reopened. Great decor, service and food. Highly recommend making the journey to The Crown. The pictor are of teriyaki beef with a side of salt & pepper chips and the Crown club sandwich.

Came for a Sunday roast, it was exceptionally cooked, I got the beef, the fiance got the chicken, both incredible - I will be back!!

A friend and I called for lunch on Thursday, when we went in it was virtually empty (not a good sign).waiter took our order and then we waited.45 minutes I enquired about the food and was told it was on its way the chef was on his own.15minutes later I asked if the food was ready or could we pay for our drinks and leave.young lady went to the kitchen and came straight back out and said yes that's fine.whats fine I asked you can pay for your drinks.No apologies no explanation nothing! very poor service.we left and went to the white crow, lovely pleasant staff quick efficient service and within 25minutes we had a delicious hot meal in front of us.Doubt we will be visiting the crown any time soon.

Hidden gem ! What a wonderful meal my family and I had , came in and had the steak and ale pie and it was lush ! Service is exceptional and staff are always willing to help. Would recommend 100%!

Made last minute reservations on a weekend, staff were very friendly and accomadted us. Not a huge menu which in my opinion is always better. I got the chicken burger which was amazing. The pulled pork burger also looked amazing. Good prices. A little bit out of the way if you don't know the location well but not too far of a walk from the centre of standish. Nice little beer garden to the back aswell. 10/10 recommend

Came in on steak night and the food was absolutely perfect!! My boyfriend loved his steak and I got the chicken fried rice (which was amazing). The prices are so good for the amount of food and quality. Would recommend!! Service was lovely, no complaints at all☺️

Oh dear things have definitely gone down hill since we used to visit a few years ago staff were quite slow and didn't seem to know what drinks were what ( not there fault really need to train them better) when I finally got my pint of real ale didn't have to even take a sip to know it was off .. turning sour (informed the brewer as its his livelihood ) beer was changed no fuss but the staff didn't seem to know what was wrong with it a lot of vacant looks.. food was average prices not so ..room for improvement

Came for a meal here with high expectations. Unfortunately left disappointed. Upon arriving it became clear that the menu provided was very different to the one available online, the meals we had preselected at home were not actually available. We were told the website hadn't been updated, this was a minor inconvenience and we were happy to make selections from the available menu. Service was good and starters were nice as were the kids meals, the mains however were a huge let down. I ordered an 8oz Ribeye which i ordered as medium rare. Came as medium at best and at least 3 of the 8oz was fat, also quite tasteless and i wouldn't normally complain about too much food but the chips and the garnish (tomatoes, mushroom and onion rings) was comically large. My wife ordered a chicken fried rice that was extremely greasy and tasted very bland. We didn't eat most if it and decided not to bother with dessert. Won't be going here again.

My wife and I went out for dinner at the Crown at the beginning of June 2024 The selection of drinks and service at the bar was excellent as was the food. Thank you to all the staff for making our visit so enjoyable.

I have excellent food before. I went with a friend last week and we both had cheese pie. Sadly it was tasteless and certainly lacking in cheese,

I booked here for an overnight stay while away on business. The website made several mentions of Bed and Breakfast, which is what I was needing but on arrival I was informed that they only serve breakfast on a Saturday and there was nothing that could be done about this. The staff were pleasant and helpful and the room was clean and well presented but as I really needed breakfast they allowed me to cancel at no cost and find somewhere else locally. While this worked out it was really not brilliant after a long days driving. I think that they need to be clearer that this is Bed and Breakfast, with no Breakfast. Generally disappointed, and I'll not be back

Lovely pub first time visit since years ago when it used to be the butchers block.Didn't eat.just had a drink and sat outside. Staff were friendly.Good choice of gins and real ales.Menu looked nice.will consider coming again for food.

We went to the crown at Worthington tonight there was 6 of us. We hadn't been for years prior to tonight's visit. We certainly won't be leaving it so long again. The service was amazing the food was outstanding. We felt like regulars the way we was welcomed and looked after was 2nd to none. I would certainly recommend coming here. Beautiful area outside for those summer nights. I honestly can't write how Beautiful everything was. We will see you again very soon. And thank you for an amazing family meal.

Catered for a group of 25 family members. Service was good, meals came out together and hot. Everyone got the correct meals. Sunday roast was very nice. Lovely to sit outside after eating and enjoy the sunshine and lovely, local cask ale.

Had a joint 50th/70th some of the staff were shocking !! There your best friend when taking the deposit for the room then once that is done possibly the most miserable unhelpful staff I ever experienced. Promised to have certain types of alchohol on the tapa upstairs then changed there mind the night before claiming they never offered us this service. At the end of the night we were told we needed to empty the room completely without discussing this with us before hand. The lad serving us upstairs who initially took the deposit has a face like a slapped arse he was about as much use as a handbrake on a canoe I can honestly say I won't be returning here.

Open Mic night, on the first Friday of the month, is run by Calvin Snape. Excellent night and great atmosphere. Recommended! I cannot comment about the rooms as I have never stayed there but the place is spotless so I have no qualms in reckoning the rooms are fabulous too. Sunday breakfast is fabulous, as I have tried that, and on the occasions have eaten there the food is lovely. I know the owners are doing their best to cater for customers so if you have any ideas for themed days/nights message them

We last visited the Crown 15+ years ago. The inside is well appointed clean and tidy and tastefully decorated. We were warmly welcomed by the gentleman behind the bar, who was friendly and attentive. we ordered drinks which were brought to our table, then we ordered our meals which were :- Steak and Ale pie and a Chicken burger. Well what a surprise!, The Steak and Ale pie was home made with a lovely thin crust with soft meat cubes surrounded with a great gravy. The chips were home cooked in a basket and were to die for, with peas and a nice gravy jug. The chicken burger was two large bread coated breasts soft and tasty, sat on lettuce and a tomato slice all pinned to a bread bun, with coleslaw and chips as the meal above. The only point to note is, we parked in the rear car park and entered the Crown from the rear, It would be very difficult for disabled/wheel chair users to use the rear. so the side car park and front entrance would be better for them. Both meals were very very good and we will return again to eat. what a find the Crown is we fully recommend a visit.

My partner and I were visiting Standish we now live on Anglesey Wales ,we were made welcome as soon as we went in plus one little dog the lady who served us was lovely and very kind ,the food excellent , compliments to the chef ,so good we hopefully having another visit soon and possibly staying the night ,thank you

The Crown used to be a favourite of ours but we hadn't been since it reopened. I booked a table in the restaurant for me, my 90 year old mother and my sister for Mother's Day.In the end my sister couldn't make it. We arrived at 2.30 to be told we were to be seated in the pub. I told the young waiter he had it wrong as I had specifically booked the restaurant, he looked rather blank and said the booking had come through to them as the pub. He showed us to a tiny table which was barely big enough for two let alone the three we originally booked for, it was right beside the corner of the bar and there was a yapping dog belonging to the couple on the table right behind us . At this point I asked to speak to the manager, he nonchalantly said the restaurant was full and he'd see how long we'd have to wait for a restaurant table. We didn't want to wait as it was already 3pm by then and we wanted to eat. The Mothers Day menu was a set menu at £29.95 for three courses . Neither of us wanted three courses so we chose from the grill menu. Mum chose rump steak and I chose a gammon slice. The waitress came to take our order and when I asked for the gammon she said "oh we don't do that now" so I ended up also ordering the rump steak which I didn't really want. As I am having gastrointestinal problems at the moment I asked them to omit the chips and onion rings from my order. While we were waiting we ordered drinks, Mum had a Diet Pepsi and I asked for lime and soda. When they arrived mine was actually lime and lemonade. I asked the waiter to change it which he did but the drink he replaced it with still tasted very sweet and nothing like lime and soda. The meals arrived and mine was piled with chips , big fat wedges, and onion rings. I said to the waitress I'd asked her to leave them off but she just giggled and said "Well, I did tell the kitchen." The manager then came again to our table but just asked if he could get us anything. I said"I'll have a glass of water please because I don't suppose you can get that wrong. He didn't reply just got me a glass of water. In fairness the steak was very well cooked and perfectly medium rare as I'd asked for but the whole experience from start to finish was terrible. We'll never come back as the service is diabolical and quite frankly the manager needs to learn how to treat customers

Booked a meal for 4 at the crown, lots of parking and pub seems nicely decorated. Friendly greeting from staff and taken to our table. Good selection from menu although no lamb shanks available, food was good, reasonable priced and the waitress was very good. Only gripe was the place was freezing, I realise energy prices make it difficult for pubs but we didn't feel like staying for extra drinks or desserts . All four people thought the same and probably wouldn’t return on a cold day as made the meal less enjoyable.

Booked a bar meal with the hubby today 24/02/24. On arrival we were told to sit wherever we liked, we were promptly brought the menus and ordered drinks. We waited quite a while for someone to come and take our food order but gave up and my husband went to the bar to order. The young lady then came to the table and took our order. The food was really lovely, I had steak and ale pie and the hubby had chicken and leek pie. We finished and again waited for ages for someone to come over to tidy the table and take the sweet order, I gave up and again went to the bar to ask. I had a delicious chocolate brownie and ice cream. I then went to the bar to pay. The pub has a lovely feel to it, the food was delicious and the staff very friendly. Unfortunately the service was not great which is such a shame because everything else was really good. I would definitely go again and just hope today was an off day.

Myself and my partner hired the whole of the Crown on NYE 2023. We had our wedding breakfast, upstairs, and then in the evening come downstairs where we had entertainment. As you can imagine we booked with the crown around 12 months in advance, and from the start the communication between ourselves and Andrew and Nic was exceptional with constant check ins and catch ups whether this be txt, dropping into the Crown unexpectedly just to clarify things, which made us feel comfortable with the events for the main day. To put it into context we had over 70 people in the day, and this increased to around 150 in the evening. The crown was pivotal to the smooth running of the day this included setting the room up for ceremony, breakfast, supporting with all pour guests needs, as well as catering a full 3 course meal for all our day guests, which must be said was fantastic, the number of comments we received of our guests saying this was the best meal they have had at a wedding I had lost count! Again, for our evening guests we had the homemade pizzas and some creative grazing boards which looked brilliant too and were a nice touch to an evening party where people can just graze and no need for plates etc. We made use of all the rooms at the Crown too, which were lovely and clean and just what we needed with some of our guests not local. Andrew and Nic worked well with our other suppliers and literally helped the whole day go seamlessly, and we literally couldn’t fault a thing. They are really open to using the venue however you really want, we even had the main restaurant downstairs as a dancefloor. The venue was staffed appropriately so there were no long queues at the bar for the guests which is always a bonus! For the quality of food and service we received we thought the pricing at the crown was also super reasonable, and to top it off Andrew really can put his hand to anything, he did our fireworks in the evening which was a special touch we decided we wanted, so he got them and set them off on our behalf and these were great addition to our pictures and videos. Nic is super creative and will support with room dressing, food inspiration you name it!

We went for Christmas Day 2024 Never again it was the worst meal that we had ever had we didn’t eat much the canopies where the best thing we had. The beef wellington pastry was soggy and the beef was so black it was inedible. we complained and they changed it for a Christmas dinner which was the same quality. We complained and asked to speak to the manager and was told he was off sick. We sent him a Email and he replied saying that he was in the kitchen on that day so he knew how poor the quality of the food he was sending out. We have been trying to get a refund. But 2 months on and still he has not sorted it out. Very bad management and customer care will never eat there again

We went on Christmas Day 2023 and the Food was inedible the beef wellington pastry was soggy and the meat black we complained and they change it for a Christmas dinner which was just as disgusting. We asked to speak to the manager and was told he was off sick. So the day after we email him to complain and he told us he was in the kitchen on Christmas Day. Which makes things worse as he knew he was sending out poor quality food still after 2 months he has not given us a partial refund very poor management and customer service

Had the two course special and it was excellent. For starters I had a very good crispy garlic bread followed by a really good homemade cheese pie served with chips, veg and a pit of gravy. The food here is excellent and very good value.

A spontaneous first visit, certainly not the last! Looking at local locations that we had not yet visited, we decided to stop off for an early mid-afternoon dinner. This country pub looked ideal; The Venue: Fitting the look of a country pub, located down a lane surrounded by fields. There was plenty of room to park (2 car parks). Inside was a surprisingly fresh and rustic while feeling cosy. Plenty of seating arranged through various rooms, giving privacy while not being isolated. We went while it was quiet and there was still atmosphere. The Meal: Freshly prepared food, no hint of a microwave. Delicious red pepper houmous with warm pittas was probably the highlight. Although our good sized portions of salmon, and cheese pie with trimmings was tasty and filling. The only shame was not having enough room for dessert...this time. A good selection of mains available, including for dietary needs (vegan, vegetarian, gluten). And an even better drinks menu, with plenty of on tap beers, a list of cocktails. Both including locally produced. The Service: Right from the start, the warm greeting, being seated to having at seat service for food and drinks. We were checked on throughout our experience, never intrusive. The pauses between courses and table clearing were well timed, never long. Mints with the bill are always nice touch. Overall: A welcoming pub, with that cosy country feel. Tasty, hearty meals. Extensive selection of beverages. Easy to access location with plenty of parking. Tips & notes: Would be worth staying for longer, or not taking the car, to enjoy more from drinks, and food, menu. Also offers hotel stays. Next time would like to try out the pool table or go to the Thursday night pub quiz!

This is a large traditional oub with loats of ourside seating as well a number of cosy bar areas and a restaurant. On a Monday lunchtime, it was very quiet, and we had great service. There is a good choice of starters, mains and lighter snacks - something to suit most people. Our party tried the scampi and the fish and chips - both of whic were very good. I opted for the Charcuterie sharing board (Essentially a starter, but i took the whole board as a main). It was enormous and very very delicious. Whole war Camembert, selection of cooked meats, olives and hummus ... perfect!

From start to finish it was perfect, when we entered we were greeted immediately and taken to our reserved table. Drinks order taken straight away which was great, drinks delivered in good time. The food order taken after just the right amount of time for perusing the lovely menu. We ordered starters, mains and a side, the food arrived in good time and was so fresh & tasty. Scotch egg, Breaded Brie wedge and for mains Prawn & Chorizo Linguine as well as Thai Red Veg Curry. The food was delicious & hot, perfect for a date night. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Crown at Worthington for a great meal and lovely location.

Caught the mid-week early bird (2 courses for £10 or 3 for £15), limited choice but we all found something we liked. The food was great; all fresh and tasty (good sized portion). All complimented with a decent pint and wine. Excellent value for the price. Nice touch giving the kids a little packet of sweets (they didn’t fancy any of the deserts). Looking at the main menu there are plenty of meals we would like to try. Will definitely be back soon.

Wanted to give an honest review for the management as I was in two minds whether to go however, The crown was an old favourite of ours for years before it but haven’t been since it changed hands. We went today for Mother’s Day. Firstly we wasn’t advised at booking it was a set menu, and we couldn’t be able to choose off the main menu. Bit of a bummer as we’d gone thinking we could but ok move on. When asking a bit more info about the dishes and what they came with the waitress looked at us blankly. Eventually someone else came over to confirm a few things. The Pate starter was a bit strange, came with a normal piece of bread just cut in 1/2 ( not toasted or any butter) The salmon main came with potato but without any vegetables ( as advertised) Beef roast dinner - 1 small slice of beef 😳 Asking for sauces ect to accompany the meals, had to be reminded 2/3 times. My daughters (1 scoop )of ice cream came without topping but her cousins had topping on: My dessert didn’t come with everyone else’s and it took twenty minutes until clearing the table away for anyone to notice. The food overall was tasty, but it’s a shame the final execution/ service wasn’t. It just felt like The waitress’s were so keen to rush off without checking everyone was satisfied or had what they had ordered it was an inconvenience when we questioned anything, I understand it’s a busy day in hospitality but the restaurant was only 1/2 full. Hopefully they can sort the issues and we can return sometime.

Visited here yesterday (Friday) to meet members of the family of the bride to be. I ordered 2 bottles of wine for the table, pre order £27.90 for 2 bottles. Told it was a fizz Friday deal. I then ordered another bottle of rose proseco on the night but paid £22.90. I queried it and was told the pre order was fizz Friday deal, but I'm totally confused, because it was Friday I was dining and ordered the extra bottle. They were making excuses in my opinion, sums hospitality up at moment. I know they lost money due to covid but this is not the right approach to win the customers back. Me and my husband father of the bride, travelled 35 miles for this meal and we were disappointed. My Kiev was awful especially for £16 and my husband had fish which was greasy. We didn't like starters either. Mine was samosa, more like pancake My husband paid for the family meal which was £149.00 for 6 people, starters and mains, nothing else, because I paid for the wine. Very disappointing, and won't be returning

Busy Saturday night, we booked in with 20 people and there was another large booking at the same time. You guys absolutely smashed it. Helped us out with a huge surprise for the birthday girl and nothing seemed too much trouble from the start of the booking speaking to the owner right through to the evening itself where the waiting staff and young ladies running the restaurant were fantastic. And of course the food. Fusy kids and a last-minute vegan thrown in, the food was delicious. Added little bonus was the singer in the bar when we'd finished our meal. She was brilliant, and we were made to feel very welcome throughout. Thank you 😊

Visited Crown for the first time on recommendation. Staff were great, friendly and efficient Food was excellent and we will go again. Only downside would be the price charged for wine. 8.95 for a large glass of shirts was a bit heavy. Next time it's cheaper to buy the bottle. But a great experience.

Visited for a Christmas night out / meal. The food and service were excellent. The place has a warm, cosy atmosphere. The whole experience was lovely from start to finish. We will definitely be returning. Thank you for an enjoyable evening!

We recently visited midweek (Wednesday) with a view to dining before visiting a guest speaker in the upstairs function room. Although they had the log burner lit, Unfortunately we found the environment far too cold to enjoy. Hence we sat with our coats on, trying to enjoy a drink in a cold room. We actually returned later for the speaker, but the function room was really cold too. I understand the cost of living crisis is affecting businesses, but the public will be put off from visiting if establishments aren’t warm and inviting. Sorry! We have visited before, hence in summer time, so will wait for warmer months before returning again.

The staff were very friendly and attentive, couldn't fault their professionalism but the quality of the food was disappointing. The cheese pie was very nice but came with stone cold vegetables. The roast beef was not of a good standard, a little tough, had no flavour and again the vegetables were luke warm. Sadly we won't be returning.
