Albion Ale House in Wigan

Had a brilliant evening at the monthly open mic. I had to leave early but saw some great singers. The landlord showed me round to where I could put my disability scooter. The staff were lovely and the beer choice incredible. Wonderful atmosphere and lovely audience. Highly recommended ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

Just a lovely bar .. great rotating selection of beers. Obviously well kept cellar and clean lines. Staff are great. Love heading here when visiting my folks.

Cracking ale house, good range of ales, down graded my review as regulars get served over people waiting patiently, well that's my experience thought I was the invisible man

As its small, it gets a little too loud for me, but the choice of beer and staff are amazing. Plus it's dog friendly, which is always a bonus

Didn't eat here so can't say anything about food but they have a good selection of craft beers and staff where Great live music here from time to time

Very good beer and good price in a local and friendly hostelry.If in area definitely visit espeially if a real ale fan,but if not still a good drinking place in my book.

If you like hand pumped real ale this is the place for you. Compact but well arranged seating. Surprisingly large beer garden. Fantastic range of well kept beers. Friendly staff and clientele.

This is our favourite place for a pint in Standish. The beer range is varied and always served in good condition. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended.

I had a lovely plum porter but they had plenty of pale ales if that's your thing. Great staff, friendly locals... Shame I couldn't stay all night! Best beer in Standish!

Dropped in today to listen to the local artist, as usual a fantastic atmosphere and a warm welcome from the team .you never have to wait long for service and the best pint served in Standish.

Great bar with friendly staff and locals. Addition of covered, and heated, outside drinking area is fantastic and will be very welcome as it gets colder. Safe and friendly bar with great beers.

Visited this weekend and the staff were rude and unpleasant. I know it must be boring to remind people about masks, etc. and having to wear them stood up but not sat on a stool which leaves you the same height as when stood up - and I know the total lack of logic to these rules is not their fault - but they were shouting at people in an unpleasant manner.

Screamed at from the doorway to put a mask on , as we took 2 steps from the door to a table . We have tried to go out and support local bars and restaurants since the lockdown but now feel like we are deeply unwelcome and maybe shouldn't bother .We understand that local businesses have to comply to the new ridiculous rules but there is no need for sheer rudeness .Think well just stay in till this is over if this is the new normal. Not a pleasurable experience going out in Standish anymore.

Great little place with live music and lots of pumps with different beers on. Sadly not all of them operational but enough of a range to satisfy most

The Albion Ale house is what it says, It is just a small bar in the centre of Standish. The beer choice is not really to our taste,as it never very exciting or strong in alcohol. It is also difficult to see what beers are on offer due to customers sitting/ standing at the bar. There is no food available as far as we could see.

Cannot fault the real ales, I was td it was full of friendly folk, but the two Saturday evenings I went in, each time, there were a couple of customers I really did not like.

Friendly staff, a great atmosphere and good ale

Great sized micro bar serving the best in old favourites and new brews from around the country. Also delicious nibbles if you are feeling a bit peckish plus local Bon viveur’s who are always happy for you to join in conversation. Great owners and staff who know their trade. They have live music but not on a regular basis. Went in on its opening night and not stopped going in since.

Nice selection of beers and ales, cosy atmosphere with friendly staff. Enjoyed our quick stop and would like to return to try more of the beers.

Much promise but a failure to deliver. A few choices of ales, nothing special. Small place, with friendly staff. I wouldn't go as far as to warn people away, but I doubt I'll be back.

Great little place. Im new to the area and stopped in here for 'one' drink on Saturday night and ended up staying all night, the live music was really good and everyone was singing along and dancing, the owner even bought garlic bread pizzas for everyone which was an added bonus. Really friendly staff & customers.

A real gem of a micro pub in the heart of Standish. Walk in as a stranger and leave as a friend. Winner of community pub of the year two years running. Always great beers on keg. Very highly recommended.

Superb little real ale pub with a great friendly atmosphere and excellent staff.Great choice of ales and they are kept in perfect condition for the seasoned tasters.The regulars in there are friendly and welcoming with the banter flowing as free as the ales.Watch out for the little one called Lee though who despite being 4ft 2" is actually much older than he purports...

One of the small real ale ... craft beer pubs that now seam to be bucking the trend of pubs closing .... good beer ... plenty of choice... nice staff... small outdoor area ... I hope this trend of real ale bars continues .... which there was one near to home !

Briiliant beer and great company

Not been in for a long time just popped in on the off chance,staff friendly and helpful, good selection of real ale,we were looking to get a place to sit before it got busy.

Fantastic real ale bar. Good range of well kept, mainly local beers. Nice, friendly service.

Too small, too hot and a very very small bar area. This pub is on the main road with no direct parking. It seems to be an old terraced house that has been converted which provides extremely narrow spaces. The beers are really nice and the staff are polite, its just far too small and as it gets very busy can leave you sweaty, feeling penned in and uncomfortable. I

We went with friends for a few drinks to The Albion. After getting the drinks, we went into the beer garden since, for a change, the sun was out. It was a nice little sun trap in there. A few locals were also in the and the main bar bar quite full due to a football match being on TV. The selection of real ales was quite good with a variety of brews to choose from and the bar service was good too.

My husband loves the real ale and craft beers served here. We visited after several recommendations from friends and found it to be very friendly and lots of choice. Would happily recommend it to anyone

A great cozy pub and a good selection of ales. It can get busy in here although this doesn't take away the experience if anything it adds to it. Also the pub offers live music some days which can be nice to listen to whilst having a couple of drinks with someone or on your own. Overall for a couple drinks as a starting pub or a quiet place to catch up with some people the atmosphere and size is just right.

A little gem this place is, staff are very friendly and the place has a great atmosphere. Good beers and selection of gins. Small but a big on character.

Went in the afternoon found pub to be a refurbished shop small and uninviting but found the ale and variety excellent and while we were there a delivery came which was so abnormal as the cellar is upstairs and watched as the barman had a rope and tackle that he hoisted up the stairs which was great entertainment on a sad rainy day

I love this place always pop in when I'm in the area the owners are so friendly and they have a great choice of real ales, wine and a decent cheese board . The outside area is a great area to meet and chat with the lovely locals .

Love it in here we go in weekly, sometimes it's a little crowded at the bar area as people sit on stools and chat which is great and shows how friendly it is, just for some customers might be off putting. When it's quiet I feel some low level music ( not your run of the mill pop) would be nice as you find yourselves whispering across the table and sometimes feels awkward.

For all ale drinkers out there, micro pubs represent an excitingly refreshing addition to the high streets of Great Britain and this one doesn't disappoint. A friendly welcome and a nice selection of well-kept beers, plus wines too. If you don't drink ale then pubs like this won't be for you so please don't expect them to cater for your tastes, it's not what they're designed for. Only popped in because I was visiting Standish but would have no qualms about going back.

A good selection of well kept real ales and friendly bar staff makes this small place a welcome addition to the night-life of Standish. Needs expanding to cater for the more claustrophobic and to properly provide relaxation for the ladies but worth calling in on your tour.

Stay around Standish when I travel and no stay is without a visit to thAlbion. Good ale and good company.

The albion is a small Nice bar ! It serves real ales and good choice of wine! It's one of the More pleasant experiences in Standish.....It does get busy at weekends as it's very Small. Nice atmosphere. :)
