Great food drinks and atmosphere would definitely visit again.

Went for the first time today for lunch. Lovely surroundings and decor, although was very quiet as it was a weekday lunchtime. Wanted to leave this review to complement Craig on his service, he was very attentive and he rectified a minor issue we had really well. It left us quite happy to come back and try some more from the great looking menu. payable parking is available across the road £2 for 2 hours.

On our journey home from the Lakes we were looking for somewhere to feed seven adults and two children at short notice. Sunday Lunchtime was a busy time but we were really happy to find the Post house only a few minutes off the M6. A good selection on the menu and reasonably priced. The food came out quickly and in one go, nobody had to wait and the food was excellent and plenty of it. The venue looked like a great place for drinks with a large covered deck area and a large well stocked bar. It's a long way from home so we may not be back anytime soon but I would recommend this place if you are in the area.

This is a cracking bar with very good food. Opened a couple of years ago, this place has set the standard to beat in the local area. Good food and pleasant staff. Have been about 6 or 8 times over the last two years and always had good consistent service.

Me and my friend came for drinks and the service by Craig was amazing, he was so welcoming and accommodating. And the food was lovely!

My partner and I like a good quiz so we went along this Monday for theirs and I was seriously impressed. One of the stand out things here is the standard of service and the friendliness of the staff. From the chef to the people on the bar - every single person we spoke to was lovely. We also loved the food we tried. You can tell it’s made with quality, fresh ingredients and not your standard pub food. It looks tiny from the road but inside there’s a lovely big space with plenty of tables. We’ll definitely be back!

Best kept secret in thorrell. Forget ur in wigan at times with the ibiza style djs and great staff who have time and are encouraged to chat. Love the place. My 🍺😍

Came here for drinks on a busy night. Drinks (cocktails) were great. Decided last minute we fancied something to eat and asked staff if this was possible, we were told they were fully booked but should be able to accommodate us after 8pm if we were happy to wait. Staff helpful and friendly and food was lovely too.

Poor to be honest , bland food , chicken Kiev s so poor no garlic whatsoever, Katsura chicken loaded chips absolutely smothered in a sickly sauce and a goodfellas pizzas for twice the price . Not good and never again

My wife is ceiliac so we explained it needs to be gluten free and gluten free options were on menu. She’s always a bit nervous so ordered a steak with chips and I got a crispy chicken wrap. When she tucked in to her chips she noticed something different and asked me to have a look so I tasted it only to find a bit of my crispy chicken batter among her chips. So got the manager who came over and all she could say is do you want some more chips. If someone is managing a food place they need to know how important certain allergy s are. We won’t be going back or recommending it to anyone.

My daughter brought me here for a Mother’s Day treat and it was largely disappointing and poor value for money. £27 each for two courses would hopefully predict a fairly substantial meal. It wasn’t. On the positive side our starters weren’t too bad and were of a reasonable size. Our mains of fish pie weren’t so nice however; a very small dish of mixed seafood that had a weird grainy consistency and some straggly, overcooked, chewy “tenderstem” broccoli on the side was not very appetising and left us feeling hungry and slightly short changed. A shame really as we live locally and will absolutely go elsewhere in future.

No the best quality food or value. wife's haloumi wrap quite tasteless £15. Usual Unhealthy kids options, £7 for kids pizza and chips. My chicken pitta as OK. Unfortunately there was also some works going on with someone spray painting within the building. Stunk the bar out with the fumes. Not great for our new born baby. No issue with the service. Unfortunately not somewhere to return.

This was the best meal I have had in a long time. The service and food was excellent. I am not easy to please so for me to leave an excellent review for a restaurant is rare. I will definitely be back and would recommend to everyone.

When I walk into a pub/bar that has two bar staff serving;one serving a single man,another serving a group of five I do not, 1. expect to have to wait for service because the barperson is finishing off a conversation with the person they have just served. 2. Then have to announce myself because the barperson has no clue if anybody at the,quiet,bar needs service. Fundamental,basic bar skills are endangered. I would go as far as to say they exist,purely through those individuals who still make themselves aware of 'their' bar. To ascertain who,in a quiet bar, needs serving next. This place is an attemt at a trendy,if London think hipster, bar. Very loud music. More expensive than other local pubs.

Wouldn't have gone if I had know there was a DJ ...He was very good with his music but too loud for older members in the party . We're not able to chat 😥

Great food, great atmosphere, great night.

We have visited on several occasions now, and never had a complaint about the food. The value is reasonable and food of good quality. We visited recently for the steak and wine night that cost £40 for 2 steaks and a bottle of wine. This is on every Thursday and I would recommend it. The only criticism I have for this restaurant is the speed of service. The days in which we have visited have been reasonably quiet, however the food has taken too long to arrive, in fact our last visit was over 40 minutes from order to serving. This doesn’t appear to be unique as it has been the same on every visit. The quality of food makes us return however I would like to see more attentive waiting on staff, and an improved waiting time for food. It would be a shame if slow service ruined the reputation of the Posthouse.

We went for my wife’s birthday for the first time. We were impressed with the decor & the food. However the cost of a 250m glass of wine at £11.50 really took the shine off the evening. It’s Orrell not Mayfair 🤷🏼‍♂️

1st visit and certainly not the last. Was greeted by a polite waitress and taken to our table which was a booth (bonus). Ordered drinks which we received very quickly. The menu is a vast and full of variety once we had decided to order the waitress was straight to our table to take our order and talked through the menu in depth which was really appreciative. To sum up the place is really nice, food amazing and staff very polite and attentive

Fabulous! I went here with 3 friends for a post Christmas lunch which we extended to early evening drinks. Lovely decor, friendly, welcoming staff who were very accomodating, nothing was too much trouble. Perfect for a casual lunch, dinner or just drinks. Love the small plates option to make a selection of dishes to share or if you don't have a large appetite. Nice atmosphere, I will definitely be returning. It's a good idea to book at busy times. Lots of seating outside on warm days

We met my cousin & her husband here for Christmas drinks, she said it was a nice place & she was right. Only downside was that we had to sit outside, even though they had heaters it was still cold. They do a table service here which is unusual but we like that, it's like Eire & The Continent, wish more places did it. Staff are really friendly & engaging even though they were rushed off their feet, had to tip them! Great selection of cocktails & they are pretty strong too. Didn't have food, should have! Will return

I decided to post a review here after sending 2 emails directly to the Posthouse expressing my disappointment regarding the dining experience my friends and I had at the establishment on Wednesday 20th December. Our party, consisting of 11 people, felt somewhat neglected by the waiting and bar staff throughout the evening. There was a noticeable lapse in service when it took an unusually long half-hour interval for desserts to be served after our main courses were cleared away. Unlike my previous visit with my wife a couple of weeks prior, we observed a lack of drinks table service, which posed challenges, especially given the seating arrangement behind a long table. Attempting to navigate through the crowd and reach the bar proved to be a cumbersome task, and surprisingly, the inconsistency in service was evident as we had no trouble during our previous visit. What added to our frustration was the preference given to a group of rather obnoxious men at the bar, who failed to acknowledge the principle of queuing, or manners! Further to this, it was disheartening that our presence seemed to go unnoticed by the staff for most of the night. The culmination of our dissatisfaction occurred when a manager followed us down the road (in the pouring rain) as we left, questioning whether we had paid for our meals. Had there been periodic checks on our party throughout the evening, such concerns would have been addressed sooner. It would also have been convenient for us to pay at the table rather than make individual visits to the bar for a long wait to struggle to be heard by the staff before paying our individual bills. Moving on, and while my friends and I appreciate the effort to create a vibrant atmosphere with a DJ, we found ourselves questioning the necessity of having one. The venue was not particularly crowded, and it seemed that the presence of a DJ did not enhance ours, or anyone’s overall experience. On the contrary, the volume was uncomfortably loud, making it challenging for our party to engage in conversation. Additionally, it appeared that the DJ's role did not extend beyond what could easily be achieved with a curated playlist on platforms like Spotify. Given the intimate setting and the relatively small number of patrons, the loud music became more of a hindrance than an enhancement to the atmosphere. We believe that a more subdued ambiance would have allowed for a more enjoyable and social dining experience. I mentioned in my emails that I’d appreciate it if they could shed some light on the decision to have a DJ and whether there are plans to reconsider this aspect of the dining experience. I was ignored. This raft of issues significantly impacted our overall experience at the Posthouse and hope, but doubt, that this feedback is taken constructively and considered when evaluating your service standards.

Eating out as a vegan is always problematic as choice is limited and prices are often inflated compared to other dishes. This was my experience at the Posthouse. I opted for the burger. Compared to my omnivore friends my burger was smaller. A smaller bun, smaller patty, a lettuce leaf and a scraping of schiracha sauce. Served with fries. The most expensive burger on the menu. It needed more accompaniments such as a salad or coleslaw to justify the price.

We visited this week on Monday afternoon between 3-5pm to celebrate my nieces 21st birthday! We was staying away for the weekend nearby at the glamping pods & we found this place online! And it was easy to walk in and had plenty of tables The small plate menu was what attracted me to dine here and it did not disappoint! The food is absolutely unbelievable! We had to thank the chef and ask him to come out because everything was perfect! The service was phenomenal, a lady called Louise was our host and she was the most welcoming and friendliest lady! We all ordered different small plates and sides for a 5 person table and felt it’s best share! Portions was huge, and all the food came out at the same time! We even ordered extra tacos because they was too nice!! Beautiful restaurant & atmosphere! Amazing prices & quality!! 10/10 restaurants & bar! Parking was also easy in the area for a main road, as there is a pub over the road called The Stag which has a parking meter, and it’s fairly affordable! And we went to the pub first for a drink to register free parking! Thanks everyone we had the best celebration here!! X

We walked in at around 6pm without booking on a Tuesday evening very easily, and had lovely and fast service. The portion sizes are HUGE, so you definitely get your moneys worth. Not an overwhelming amount of vegetarian & vegan options, but plenty to give you a sense of choice. The tofu small plate is a firm fave of mine, but wasn’t massively impressed with the vegan burger (bit dry). The salt & pepper chips more than made up for it though! Loads of drinks options, too. It’s so nice to have somewhere like this on our doorstep in Orrell now. This place feels very special and works for a quick bite to eat or a celebratory meal.

Superb- everything is fresh and they change the menu regularly. Also they always have something on for entertainment. Nice atmosphere. Nice decor.

Amazing place tad loud if you're trying to eat tho

Came last night, there was an issue with the ticket machine which meant our food order didn't quite make it too the kitchen. After I chased the food and the problem was noticed the waitress made sure the order was rushed through in the kitchen (sorry I didn't get her name but she was lovely). We were given a complimentary drink for the inconvenience and one of the chefs also came out and personally apologised for the issue which I thought was a nice gesture as not many places would do this! The food came and was gorgeous we had Steak Frites and Katsu all perfectly cooked even though they had rushed this through for us, they also brought out an extra small plate for us and offered us a free desert. The manager came over to apologise and check that everything had been sorted for us. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we still had a good experience and we really appreciated it.

We had a lovely family meal here and came on recommendation from my brother. We booked a table for 12 about 2 weeks earlier which wasnt a problem for a larger party. We all met up and were taken to our places. Drinks order was taken almost straight away. We ordered our food and waited around 20 mins for the food to be served which was more than acceptable . Food was hot and very tasty , we all really enjoyed what we had. Staff were great and nothing was too much trouble , I can highly recommend Posthouse.

We were very well looked after by a lovely, pleasant young lady. Food was excellent - had chicken wraps and chips. Plenty of chicken. Chips were well cooked. Quite filling. Will definitely return.

My partner and I celebrated our engagement party at the posthouse in orrell. We had a ball! They catered for 40 of us, we enjoyed pizza, drinks and live music! They was extremely accomodating, reserving the restaurant area for us, and arranging our decorations/balloons/cake etc. Everyone commented on how amazing the bar is, and how amazing the food was! If you haven't yet been you MUST go! We will definitely be back, and would not hesitate to hold an event here again. It was a memorable night, one that we will not forget and we have the posthouse to thank for that!

Food was great, waitresses too. However, if your booking has special requirements attached, because its a celebratory meal, don't expect the manager to take any notice. And don't expect to be informed, even though your request is completely agreed twice, prior to your booking date, (by a member of staff, standing in for the manager), if you arrive to find the manager has seenfit to completely ignore all requests and discussions, without informing you or showing any attempt to rectify the issues when you arrive for the booking. Also expect a lame excuse when you ask why your request hasn't been considered. Massively letdown

We came today for bottomless brunch. It was the first day that Posthouse have started to do it and it was brilliant! The food was amazing and the drinks flowed throughout the whole two hours. The staff are brilliant and we will definitely continue coming...

Booked a table for 2 on a Friday night. Extremely attentive staff, quality drinks and the food is fabulous. We had the Posthouse burger and the steak & ale pie, both thoroughly enjoyed and will be returning again soon. Perfect for date night, thank you.

Really nice pub/bar - Food was really good and well priced in my opinion

Great place to sit and while away the hours watching for the next car crash. The keg beer is not cheap but is very good. The burgers are not as good as they used to be. You can take your dog but only sit outside.

Had such a bad experience 😕 Vegan options very poor ! Ordered the burger and was told I couldn't have it because there was no vegan barms. Literally a shop next door 😅. So ordered falafel wrap.. which is pretty dry to begin with but was overdone and no sauces available. My partner ordered mushroom and Leak pie it was unedible... full pink peppercorns and herbs was so over powering. Couldn't eat it. Service was so slow and it didn't seem that busy as it was a Tuesday evening. Waited like 40 mins for the bill didn't offer a discount for the unedible food until pressed 🤷🏼 I don't know if it was just to vegan options that aren't good but wasn't a good experience at all. Very loud group of people behind us which was hurting our poor gramsys ears as she is old.

Been here several times with husband and with friends. Always have a lovely meal. It's not the cheapest, but the food is delicious and well presented. Visited after a walk around Orrell water park. Lovely sunny day so managed to get a table outside. Menu was very good indeed. My wife and I both went for the chicken wrap and chips. Really good food and we got plenty. Washed it down with a nice pint of locally brewed pale ale. Will definitely be coming back.

Real ale and gin bar opened March 2019. Open plan bar with outdoor drinking area. Multiple beer taps for keg beer and 5 cask hand pulls plus a coffee machine. Update: August 2020. Since my original review additional keg lines have been installed to offer a wider range of beers. The Posthouse has also expanded into the building next door to open a dining area. The menu has a good range at reasonable prices.

Popular venue in the centre of Orrell. Went for the steak night special. Steak was cooked well but the fries were very scrappy. The downside however was the service which was extremely slow. No desserts offered and had to request our bill twice and pay at bar since no one came to take payment.

Really disappointed. Have been for drink few times but first time eating here will sadly be the last. Fries were barely cooked (and tasted like ‘cash and carry frozen bargain range’! My chicken burger was ok but chicken was tough and not very tasty. My friend had ribs which were also a disappointment - they need marinating in the sauce not just brushed on top after cooking!!
