The Stoke Pub & Pizzeria in Guildford

There was 20 of us all eating, celebrating a 70th birthday. The food all came out hot and was delicious, nobody had a bad word to say about any of the food. The staff were extremely helpful and attentive. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back again!

Bit slow but good for sport pub

The pub had a good vibe. Was most impressed with the staff, the man with the glasses and blonde/brown hair was really attentive and was really great employee and done an excellent job. Had a good meal here, thank you

I love this pub..it is such a friendly warm welcoming pub with a fab atmosphere and the bar staff are always welcoming friendly and happy.. I go to this pub every week with my friend for lunch and the food has always been amazing,hot filling and 100% worth the money.. it’s not expensive either for the good quality food you get.. 100% recommend this pub.. it has a mixed age range that use it..also very family friendly pub too..I haven’t been in the evening but have drove past on evening and always busy and especially in the summer it is packed.. 100% recommend a visit and promise you will be back..

WHAT A PIZZA Perfect for pepperoni lovers and romantic lovers

We stumbled across this pub because we wanted to meet my son halfway. Called to book for Sunday lunch and they had no other bookings. Odd, but we went ahead. Lovely pub, nicely decorated and they have board games. For example, Scrabble is built into the table. Plus, there’s Shuffleboard. What a great idea. Brandon and Claudia were fabulous staff because they cared about the service they gave. The part that lets the pub down is the food. We all had the roast. The beef was very chewy, salty and there wasn't much of it. Overall, there wasn't much of the meal and it was ok, at best. I gave the pub 5 stars because the service and pub were very good. The food needs to improve.

My friend and I came here, on the off chance on the way back home from a brunch. We spoke to molly at the bar, who was very kind and attentive, she made us an excellent sangria. Service with a smile.

Always a great place to come and do the quiz - drinks are reasonably priced and the food is great. The Scottish one behind the bar is alright if I had to describe them. Lovely place!!

This pub as a lot of potential but unfortunately the customer service is to the point of disgust. Rude and arrogant people. Huffing and puffing and on the sly remarks. This is not the first time.

Just wanted to give a massive shout out to Annette. Came into the pub today for some food with some friends. She was so friendly and came up to us twice during the meal to make sure we all had everything we needed. Such amazing service and a positive attitude. A credit to your team. Matt

Our time at The Stoke pub was an amazing experience. The service was fantastic, the kind lady who took our orders was exceptional. The food was great and the atmosphere was super!!!!! I would recommend this place to anyone.

I really want to be able to give The Stoke an amazing review because it has so much potential. I came here with family for Sunday lunch and birthday celebrations, making use of the shuffleboard and darts area. Firstly, I have to say that the staff were fabulous and nothing was too much effort. The games area was great fun and a good chuckle was had by all. The only let down was the food. We waited for over an hour and a half for our food due to a staff shortage in the kitchen. When our food arrived it was exceptionally overcooked (particularly the beef burgers) and the portions were very small. I do however understand that this could have been a one off so will try it again on another day and will keep ours fingers crossed!!

BEWARE car park scam!!!! If you park in the pub car park make sure you register at the bar otherwise you will be fined! The signs are completely inadequate and no one at the bar will ask you if you parked in the car park to let you know the situation. The pub will say it has nothing to do with them as it is a private company running it, but I wouldn't be surprised if they do not get a kick back! Also, if you have to register at the pub, it has everything to do with them. The people running the pub will say people park here to go into Town and fill the car park up, but that is a lie as it's not really close to town at all. Never coming back to this pub again if this is the way it treats its customers.

Very nice pub with excellent and friendly staff, had great experiences with multiple of the bar staff, Sharnah, Bianca and Brandon have been fantastic and will remember me and say hi whenever I come in. The food was really good the breakfast wrap is a fav and the pizzas are delicious too. I’m looking forward to the next visit

The Stoke smells of old wood and delicious food. Which I know is a strange way to start a review but it's the perfect way to set the atmosphere in this beautiful pub with a super cool back room. I was here as part of the Guildford Fringe festival and it was lovely. I had the chicken wings and rosemary fries as I watched comedy and cabaret and it was a very enjoyable experience. They have a separate gluten free menu which makes ordering easy and the staff are all wonderful. Will definitely be back.

Had a fabulous night tonight at a poker and pizza night. Took my mum and the staff made her feel really welcome. Pizza was good too.

Good atmosphere and great food. Best pub food we’ve found in the area and lots of sport to watch on the TVs. Will be back to try shuffleboard next time!

The food is good The atmosphere is relatively good. But in General very hectic place. Very stressful being a customer there and the service is comparable to ‘Fawlty Towers’ If you enjoy waiting hours on end for your food to arrive …then this place is for you!

This pub is a lovely place to come. Chloe and her team are always smiling and friendly and always willing to help. Lovely newly refurbished pub which is nice just for a pint or a family meal!

We have only just started to go in there to watch the England game , food were good so far we had pulled pork tacos and we tried sirloin steak which was good we love the rosemary fried too ! The pub itself is very nice and large beers garden , to watch the England game was easy just booked ahead and the service is great 👍🏻 Chanchira wewa

Had a quality time at The Stoke, I’ve just got one question: why is Chloe not manager? She’s an absolute star.

Came for a quick drink and bite to eat and was really pleasantly surprised by how great the atmosphere was, haven't visited for years but it's much livelier than I remembered! The outdoor space is so cozy and everything we ate was so tasty. Special mention goes to Sharnah behind the bar, she was a legend and made sure we were well looked after. Thank you to the whole team, one of our new fave spots in Guildford :)

We went there for my birthday treat. I had an email from the Stoke giving us free desserts (my wife, our son and me). On entry we showed this and we’re told “show it again when you pay the bill”. When we did that we couldn’t find it. “Oh” the staff said “ we remember seeing it so no problem”. That is customer service! On our way out I was wished “Happy 21st”. A tad late. We’ll be back; thank you the Stoke!

Went for the pub quiz last week, staff were lovely and the girl running the quiz was great. Only thing was there was a small group of older women who obviously come all the time and were just a bit snarky and rude. Great prices and good food!

First visit here for probably 30 years or more. The refurbishment has been done well. Hope to be coming back to have something to eat.

Arrived at time of booking, but no record of our reservation. This wasn’t a problem as it was fairly empty. We waited to be seated in a booth that had admin related stuff on it but that they said they could cleared for us. However this took a while and then another booth vacated so we sat there instead. As there was by now a queue at the bar we decided to order on the app that the server had suggested to us when we sat down. Order was placed at 20:18. 1 bottle of wine, 1 starter to share and 4 main courses. After waiting for a good.10-15 minutes we approached the bar to ask about our wine. Bottle of wine was then served. No clean wine glasses so we were given tumblers. Wine was not chilled so we had to return to the bar to ask for some ice. Another long wait and finally the food arrived, all at once, even tho I had selected it should be a starter. The waiter just said “it is what it is”!! And offered to keep the starter warm whilst we ate our mains! We declined but as a result we ended up leaving most of the starter. No offer of reduction in price. Asked about speaking to the manager, but she was too busy as there was an event being held in the function room which seemed to be keeping everyone busy. Whilst the food that we ate was ok the reaction and lack of action with the way it was served was disappointing. We didn’t bother with more drinks or desserts and went over the road to The Kings Head where we received a much warmer welcome

Almost every time I come to the Stoke the staff are miserable and unfriendly, if not rude. By comparison you’ve got the Drummond and Kings Head right next door who are friendly, and have the same or better food and drinks. Just go there instead!

I live close by so the stoke is a place I’ve been to many times over the past year, not all staff but a large majority are always quite rude and have made the experience unpleasant. It’s happened a number of times where a few staff members have been moody and unpleasant behind bar

I felt this restaurant had potential, but ultimately was a let down. The food options sound great, but were underwhelming. The bbq tacos where overly spicy, the meat pie had a bad cut of meat with most pieces have large chunks of fat and the brownie was very dry and difficult to eat. It certainly wasn’t the worst food I’ve have, but not the best. Other colleagues also felt their food (different dishes) were mediocre. I don’t think I’d return here again.

Looks great but... -Staff hygiene is appalling, from touching bins to running food mixed with poor personal hygiene. -Food temp is a hodgepodge when on a table of more than 4 -Glassware isn't clean Absolutely no management

We had a Team Event on the 16th April 24, the room was well laid out, clean and tidy as you would expect. The food was really good, with variety and more than enough to go around. Great evening of dinner and jazz in the function room. Ideal venue, with café style layout of tables, bar get drinks and order food to table. Having done this 39 years ago with the same act (Jim Mullen), it was like coming home. Katsu chicken curry was lovely.

Dead fancy !! But the place was not ready for the amount of people !! Must of had a make over in the last year as very clean and crisp lay out . But under staffed . Good size beer garden but on a cross road / not a take the kids pub

The place looks top notch, arranged with taste, clean spacious, name it you have it. Loved the shuffle boards and the snooker table. Service was quick, polite, excellent. Now the food... Visually okay and that was it. Kids pizza was defrosted (should have been) and cooked from the outside. Stone cold inside. Ice cream was a bunch of water with colouring, Calamari was haribo style and the overall feel was a bit not aligned with how great the pub, the service and the feel was. Hence the score of 4 stars.

Terrible beer, tasted off. Took 20 minutes to order a beer which was forgot about, don’t even bother stepping foot in there.

I don’t do this often but the bar lady there accused me of purposely stealing two yagerbombs even though we continued to drink in the pub and play pool and shuffleboard haha. It was a genuine mistake and yet she made an unnecessary comment as i was paying for the “stolen” drinks.

Busy pub on a sunny day with with plenty of outdoor seating. Food was fine with plenty to choose from . Interia nicely decorated and comfortable. Staff were admirably friendly and efficient for such a busy day.

Car park scam. Dark, hidden signage. I met friends there and none of the clocked that the car park was P&D. We all then received fines. Clearly designed to catch customers out.
