The Stoke Pub & Pizzeria in Guildford

The staff at the Stoke absolutely made our day by putting on premier sports rugby for us after being turned away by the other sports pub down the road. Lovely pub with a warm team and a cold tap, thoroughly enjoyable evening from a very happy bunch of saints fans! 😇

Delicious food with flavours that truly stand out, all at great prices. The service is top-notch—every staff member brings good vibes and a great sense of humor. Huge shoutout to Kyal for always greeting us with a smile and making the experience feel extra special!

Hadn't been here for years, but popped in for lunch with the family. Thought the pub was lovely and the decor was fab. The staff were so nice and friendly and look forward to returning very soon.

We held a works event at The Stoke last night using the shuffleboard and the darts and I have to say we all had a fantastic time. The staff were so helpful with the pre planning of the event, and also on the night, helping us setting up everything and the constance flow of staff to the bar. The food was great, the atmosphere was fantastic and the staff were super helpful. Great night had by all

Good food and nice Greene King pub with a good selection of ales, lager and a few ciders. Lots of screens for sports. Only downside to the food was the average size of portions compared to the price

One of my favourites pubs for five years now. Refurbished last year. Car park available, patio and service room too. Average choice of beers and average prices. The staff is very kind and professional indeed. Recently they started to serve pizzas again and that is something I really appreciate, the Americana is worthhaving, well cooked and right amount of all quality ingredients at accessible price. I prefer it when it is not so busy.

I went here with my baby on a Tuesday afternoon at 3pm. Carolina was working and she was really lovely and caring with me and my baby. She was patient and smiling a lot. Thanks for a lovely lunch after long hours in the park! (: Update Sunday afternoon, VERY slow service, more than an hour to have the food, the floor outside was full of cigarettes and chips, clearly not from today. Although Jordan was really nice and smiling all the time, we got a free drink and pudding from Brandon so was nice. Jordan was working alone in the terrace and didn’t stop working hard, he needs a pay rise! . In the bad side I will say that is so disappointing that there are only three high chairs and only one actually has the straps working.

The food is not good at all. But it is a lovely place with good service.

We booked a game area with few of my mates as a leaving party. Food was delicious, drinks served pretty fast. But there was one person that made the visit even more enjoyable. I believe his name was Thomas. As we are all amateurs in shuffle he took his time to go through the whole game rules, tips and tricks and made the game really funny. He made sure our shuffle board was freshly reset and fully set up. What made us even more impressed was his interest in allergies as the sand used on the table is from nuts and matter of fact one of our friends is nuts allergic. He quickly offered an additional option for him which was darts. Really good visit, well done to all team we will be definitely back again !

Visiting Guildford and called in for Sunday lunch. First of all let me say the service was good and we didn't have to wait long. However, my roast beef was no better than average. Cauliflower cheese was mainly a solid heart of cauliflower, carrots were a little under cooked.Meat was OK nothing exceptional and there was a lump of stuffing on my Yorkshire pudding. My sons burger was not great, no burger sauce in the pub. Patties were thin and quite tasteless, one leaf of lettuce. Not many chips and they were a bit lacking in flavour. Our local Greene King is far superior.

Generally quick service and good choice of food.

Popped in here looking for a bite to eat. Had a lovely welcome from the moment we walked in. Very knowledgeable about wines. The food was delicious and very well presented. Would definitely pop in again. Thank you for meeting our expectations 🙂

To have only 2 bar staff on a busy Friday night is wild. Took 20 minutes just to take an order. Wouldn't recommend.

Haven't been here for ages, and not since the refurbishment. Real shame they got rid of the pizza oven as they were really nice. Food was lovely but mine wasn't particularly hot. Definitely an improvement in the toilets as previous ones were horrible.

Sharnah and the team are amazing!

Came for a pint and some scran, fab service. 5 stars for Molly on the bar, such an angel! Louie in the kitchen who I was told made our food smashed it too. Love you Stoke! ❤️

Very affordable as Guildford pubs go

Was a bit disappointed on steak night their grill was down, so no steaks for us. Had the lasagna. It was pretty good. Gooey and warm! My wife got the small plates. Tacos were indeed quite small. Wait staff was friendly. Atmosphere is great.

Visited on Monday with my work colleagues. We had a great time, the bar was pretty busy with drinkers and food but Matt and Sharnah looked after us really well. We will be back very soon. Also the Katsu fries were awesome.

When we visit Guildford we always go in The Stoke. Didn't have the best experience 2 years ago but this time around the staff were friendly and we were made to feel very welcome. We had food both nights and both nights it was excellent.

The Stoke is a great local to visit throughout the week. My friends and I enjoy the interactive darts and shufl boards most visits, the staff are all very friendly and always make us feel welcome. I especially love their quiz nights on a Thursday. I recommend their loaded katsu or buffalo fries when you visit! They’ve also got their pizzas back which are just as good as I remember😍

I and 7 others arrived at short notice for drinks on a busy Monday night. There were only 2 FoH and one BoH on duty and it did not seem like it at all. The atmosphere was great, the food was delicious and the FoH staff were absolutely amazing. They happily set the table for us and even helped run drinks to our table. Will happily return soon!

Came yesterday morning for breakfast at 10am as online it said it opened at 9am but turned up to an empty pub, all lights off and no one there. Waited for 15mins hoping someone was just running behind but nothing, hope I don’t get a ticket as I was not paying to park for an empty pub!

Very friendly staff, great lunch special. Plenty of space.

We came as a book club for a nice holiday meal. The daughter of one of our members had worked here and we were told we would be able to get a discount on the meal. We don't live close to Guildford, but came out of our way to support the business. The serving staff were friendly and helpful. When we went to pay, a manager had noticed the discount on our bill and decided that we shouldn't get it. It felt quite petty and spoiled the otherwise pleasant evening.

Our book club came for the full experience — good reads, good eats, and the 33% discount we were entitled to. Two out of three isn’t bad, I guess? The food was great, the staff were fantastic, but let’s be clear — this place runs in spite of management, not because of it.

If you are going to advertise the use of a mobile app for ordering actually adhere to it. I waited 40 minutes for a pudding that never came. Either get staff to use the app or get rid of it !

Food was really good, pub was very busy due to parties and the football. We hadn’t prebooked but the staff were fantastic and sorted us a table. Asked us to go to the bar for special requests as some options weren’t available in the app which was fantastic. Despite being extremely busy staff didn’t rush us or make us feel pressured. Explained the things the didn’t have as we were seated instead of waiting for us to order. Would definitely visit again.

Lovely pub, but for some reason they water their fake plants.

There was 20 of us all eating, celebrating a 70th birthday. The food all came out hot and was delicious, nobody had a bad word to say about any of the food. The staff were extremely helpful and attentive. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back again!

I love this pub..it is such a friendly warm welcoming pub with a fab atmosphere and the bar staff are always welcoming friendly and happy.. I go to this pub every week with my friend for lunch and the food has always been amazing,hot filling and 100% worth the money.. it’s not expensive either for the good quality food you get.. 100% recommend this pub.. it has a mixed age range that use it..also very family friendly pub too..I haven’t been in the evening but have drove past on evening and always busy and especially in the summer it is packed.. 100% recommend a visit and promise you will be back..

WHAT A PIZZA Perfect for pepperoni lovers and romantic lovers

We stumbled across this pub because we wanted to meet my son halfway. Called to book for Sunday lunch and they had no other bookings. Odd, but we went ahead. Lovely pub, nicely decorated and they have board games. For example, Scrabble is built into the table. Plus, there’s Shuffleboard. What a great idea. Brandon and Claudia were fabulous staff because they cared about the service they gave. The part that lets the pub down is the food. We all had the roast. The beef was very chewy, salty and there wasn't much of it. Overall, there wasn't much of the meal and it was ok, at best. I gave the pub 5 stars because the service and pub were very good. The food needs to improve.

My friend and I came here, on the off chance on the way back home from a brunch. We spoke to molly at the bar, who was very kind and attentive, she made us an excellent sangria. Service with a smile.

Always a great place to come and do the quiz - drinks are reasonably priced and the food is great. The Scottish one behind the bar is alright if I had to describe them. Lovely place!!

This pub as a lot of potential but unfortunately the customer service is to the point of disgust. Rude and arrogant people. Huffing and puffing and on the sly remarks. This is not the first time.

Just wanted to give a massive shout out to Annette. Came into the pub today for some food with some friends. She was so friendly and came up to us twice during the meal to make sure we all had everything we needed. Such amazing service and a positive attitude. A credit to your team. Matt

I really want to be able to give The Stoke an amazing review because it has so much potential. I came here with family for Sunday lunch and birthday celebrations, making use of the shuffleboard and darts area. Firstly, I have to say that the staff were fabulous and nothing was too much effort. The games area was great fun and a good chuckle was had by all. The only let down was the food. We waited for over an hour and a half for our food due to a staff shortage in the kitchen. When our food arrived it was exceptionally overcooked (particularly the beef burgers) and the portions were very small. I do however understand that this could have been a one off so will try it again on another day and will keep ours fingers crossed!!

BEWARE car park scam!!!! If you park in the pub car park make sure you register at the bar otherwise you will be fined! The signs are completely inadequate and no one at the bar will ask you if you parked in the car park to let you know the situation. The pub will say it has nothing to do with them as it is a private company running it, but I wouldn't be surprised if they do not get a kick back! Also, if you have to register at the pub, it has everything to do with them. The people running the pub will say people park here to go into Town and fill the car park up, but that is a lie as it's not really close to town at all. Never coming back to this pub again if this is the way it treats its customers.

Very nice pub with excellent and friendly staff, had great experiences with multiple of the bar staff, Sharnah, Bianca and Brandon have been fantastic and will remember me and say hi whenever I come in. The food was really good the breakfast wrap is a fav and the pizzas are delicious too. I’m looking forward to the next visit

Had a fabulous night tonight at a poker and pizza night. Took my mum and the staff made her feel really welcome. Pizza was good too.

The Stoke smells of old wood and delicious food. Which I know is a strange way to start a review but it's the perfect way to set the atmosphere in this beautiful pub with a super cool back room. I was here as part of the Guildford Fringe festival and it was lovely. I had the chicken wings and rosemary fries as I watched comedy and cabaret and it was a very enjoyable experience. They have a separate gluten free menu which makes ordering easy and the staff are all wonderful. Will definitely be back.

Good atmosphere and great food. Best pub food we’ve found in the area and lots of sport to watch on the TVs. Will be back to try shuffleboard next time!

The food is good The atmosphere is relatively good. But in General very hectic place. Very stressful being a customer there and the service is comparable to ‘Fawlty Towers’ If you enjoy waiting hours on end for your food to arrive …then this place is for you!

This pub is a lovely place to come. Chloe and her team are always smiling and friendly and always willing to help. Lovely newly refurbished pub which is nice just for a pint or a family meal!

We have only just started to go in there to watch the England game , food were good so far we had pulled pork tacos and we tried sirloin steak which was good we love the rosemary fried too ! Came for a quick drink and bite to eat and was really pleasantly surprised by how great the atmosphere was, haven't visited for years but it's much livelier than I remembered! The outdoor space is so cozy and everything we ate was so tasty. Special mention goes to Sharnah behind the bar, she was a legend and made sure we were well looked after. Thank you to the whole team, one of our new fave spots in Guildford :)

I visited earlier this afternoon for lunch and the young man that served us was very friendly and made us feel welcome. Food tasted and looked great!

We went there for my birthday treat. I had an email from the Stoke giving us free desserts (my wife, our son and me). On entry we showed this and we’re told “show it again when you pay the bill”. When we did that we couldn’t find it. “Oh” the staff said “ we remember seeing it so no problem”. That is customer service! On our way out I was wished “Happy 21st”. A tad late. We’ll be back; thank you the Stoke!

Went for the pub quiz last week, staff were lovely and the girl running the quiz was great. Only thing was there was a small group of older women who obviously come all the time and were just a bit snarky and rude. Great prices and good food!
