Pizza Express in Guildford

Lunch with my teenage grandson, I had chicken ceaser salad. Disappointing. He had margarita pizza. It was huge. He enjoyed it. They're doing free food for small kids, so it was busy. Unfortunately my grandson didn't qualify for a freebie. 🤣. I don't think I'd go back. Had to ask twice for music to be lowered. Couldn't hear myself think, let alone speak. Restaurant music should be in the background not deafingly in ya face. 🙄. I didn't enjoy my experience. I prefer the kingston Restaurant, for service especially. I feel very well looked after there.

We had an amazing experience at Pizza Express Guildford. We booked the Garden Room (for free) for a big celebration with 26 guests. We had to do a preorder of food and drinks and then guests could order additionally on the day. The staff were brilliant and always on hand for any extras that were needed. All the food arrived together and the food tasted great! Everyone was able to pay for what they had separately at the tills or via the app. Thank you so much for everyone for making it such an easy, enjoyable experience for such a large celebration!

Food was as you’d expect but service was slow and its almost impossible to have a conversation due to the acoustics of the restaurant

Ordered mushroom mac& cheese and small pollo pizza via just eat. Mac&cheese had no cheese in it and very little cream. No spices, not even salt. When I say No cheese in it I mean absolutely Zero gram of any kind of cheese! I know it was before closing but serving cold and dry pasta is simply rude. Pizza was cold as well. Not worth £28 unless you like your food being tastless &cold. Never again. I do not recommend it!

Went on Saturday Eve for dinner before G-Live event. Had a booking but we were 10 mins late due to A3 closure and traffic. Man at desk on arrival quite rude as told us he couldn't find our booking straight away when looking as we were late, he didn't smile atall either. Considering the website says they hold tables for 15mins and you would have known about the A3 we felt unwelcome from the start. The waitress was very friendly and attentive and food was nice, but unfortunately due to our first impression at the door I would not rush back there.

Yesterday was absolutely fantastic and the staff were absolutely incredible. We came to pizza express for our staff party with 40 people the way that they accommodated every single member of that party and the way they just made sure the night was just so perfect it was unbelievable so I just want to say thank you so much for the stuff at pizza express for making such a memorable night for me and my team ❤️

We booked a table for 6:45pm. We arrived and could see the restaurant was very busy. We waited a while before anyone came to greet us. We were finally seated and given menus. By 7:10pm, nobody had been over to offer us a drink, let alone food. We waited 5 more minutes and still nothing. We appreciate the restaurant was busy but to not even of been acknowledged and said they’d be with us as soon as they could is pretty bad service. We decided to leave and I managed to grab a waiter and tell him we were going as we’d waiting too long. His response was ‘ok’ and he walked off. Pizza Express going down hill

Greeted by an unfriendly waiter who seated us at the very back of the restaurant. After waiting 25 minutes and sign of any staff to serve us we left!

Overall very good experience. Warm welcome, friendly and attentive staff, good value for money, tasty food and efficient service.

I took my daughter here as she really wanted to eat some dough balls. Unfortunately the food was of very low quality - calamari was not cooked properly so that batter was soft and oily - about one third of the pasta with my daughter’s bolognese was burnt (I cannot believe they would send out burnt pasta) - the egg on my fiorentina pizza was overcooked - the tomato base on the pizza tasted just like tomato puree The atmosphere and service were fine but the food was so poor I will not come here again. There are plenty of better independent Italian restaurants around.

Great for pre theatre meal at G Live. Good service. Nice food. Great choice. Plenty of staff on that evening so service was prompt. Menu needs to include citrus ingredients although not one of the known allergens, it is an intolerance.

I ordered at 7:25pm when the anticipated delivery time was approx 8-8:15. The pizzas finally arrived at about 9:10pm. I never would have ordered if I knew it was going to take that long. And the pizzas were a bit burnt and cold when they arrived.

The best truffle and mushroom pizza I ever had. Got healthy tea complimenting the taste. Next time I got La Reine and replaced ham with paprika. Staff was helpful to find out what you are looking for.

Had a pizza with my mum before going to see Midge Ure at G Live. Had the lovely Carmelino as our waiter. He was lovely. Was very friendly. We had doughballs to start then shared the garlic prawn pizza and finished off having a desert each. I had the lemon roulade and a glass limoncello mum had the cheesecake. Was a lovely meal.

We don't go out much with our kids, an they were so accommodating. Anya was a great server and the guys making the pizza were so friendly thank you all so much for a wonderful experience. The festive menu was great value and super tasty.

Rarely write reviews but had a fantastic experience here this evening for our daughter’s birthday. The staff were fantastic - going above and beyond. A special shout out to Carmello who really did make it a birthday to remember! Thank you ☺️ we would definitely recommend and come back.

Two main issues with this place. Main one is price - 5 of us ate (3 kids and 2 adults) and two of the kids meals were the 'free' kids meals promotion. So for three of us paying, we got pizza and soft drink and very little else for £110. The food is rank average at this price. Standard pizzas are small and very stringy on toppings. And charging over £5 for some dry dough balls is just outrageous. But actually our main gripe is that to get any of the prices etc they offer you have to down load an app and create an account etc. The last thing I want to do with my family when I get into a restaurant is to have to be on my phone for the first 15 mins. It sets a terrible example to my kids and restaurants should not be encouraging/forcing us to use phones at the table. Mobile phone for kids are a public health crisis and I cannot believe a family restaurant like Pizza Express take this line. I am afraid I would not recommend Pizza Express.

Usually I like pizza expresses but this one was awful The staff were unfriendly and very slow (our food took 45 minutes to arrive) When the food arrived one of our pizzas was burnt and the member of staff just laughed at us when we asked for a new one. The new pizza took another 25minutes to arrive. All of this could be acceptable if there was a lack of staff or the restraunt was busy but the resteraunt was half full and there were member of staff just milling around, on their phones and chatting to each other Just to note all the staff members were blonde girls some middle aged and some younger so watch out for them. The food itself was OK but I have had better pizza express food from their other resteraunts not to mention the gact that they burnt one of the pizzas and the menus at this location didn't seem as detailed as most others even the ones in remote locations. I won't return to this location unless the manager thinks about who they have hired and sacks all the staff

Pizza express was a good choice to come to with friends because the service was fast and easy to order more drinks. The food was good and there were good portion sizes.

Came for dinner after work with friends. We had top mark service from Mylo! He was smiley and friendly, checking in on us without being overbearing. A huge credit to the team! Customer service makes such a difference to the dining experience, especially when they were so busy.

It was cold when I opened the box. The garlic bread and cheese had bread, cheese and no garlic. Disappointing

Pav was very accommodating to our table of 12 for my birthday! The kids food arrived quickly, as well as the adult meals shortly after. We were in an area which wasn't encroached and the food is always great at Pizza Express. Thank you!

Took advantage of their £8 pizza. Monika, my server, explained that this price is for app members only. Downloaded the app, checked in with table number and got the discount. Monika was a gem, btw. Large long venue with a private room to boot.

The waitress was very nice. Otherwise, the place needed a jolly good clean. The walls and floors were filthy, the seating was torn in places and ‘repaired’ with masking tape but worst of all were the toilets. There was dried faeces in the toilet bowl, under the rim (I only know this because there is no way I would have sat down and so got a crouching view), the sinks and taps were covered in grime and the soap dispenser needed scrubbing. I had to use a lot of my own hand sanitizer as I felt that washing my hands added more germs! The place was empty so no excuse for having such a dirty place. I would never go there again and it’s put me off the whole chain.

I visited after a matinee performance at Glive. There is an excellent choice on the menu which caters to ALL tastes. I enjoyed my particular dish, the Ndjula Calzone. Is it good value? I don't really know. If you're prepared to pay the prices then I'd say yes. TBH, it is what it is. Enjoy👍

Great place, absolutely lovely, attentive staff, hats off for the Polish waitress, she made that day very special for my 12 year old birthday.

My brother with Down Syndrome and I stopped here for lunch today. As always, food was great & we received amazing service from the waiters - always trying to make him happy! The thing that I particularly wanted to mention; upon asking for the bill today, we were informed by a couple of the waiting staff that our bill had already been paid for by another table on top of their own bill. Unfortunately, these people had already left and I was still in complete shock as to why someone would do this for us. So for the very minuscule chance that these people may see this - I have no idea why you chose to do what you did, but what I can say is that your incredible kindness and generosity will never be forgotten. The selfless act you made is truly inspiring.

Absolutely disgusting, horrendous experience. A birthday party booked Friday PM 2nd August was ruined by an older Italian waiter who made nasty comments about the physical appearance of two people in the party. Gobsmacked that this individual is employed. Night was cut short PURELY because of this nasty man being abusive. I’m still in shock!!! Party tried to continue despite members in floods of tears. Still have no idea what drove him to do this!!!! I would like to dicuss this incident in thorough.

Friendly service, nice food but nothing amazing..

Had a couple of pizzas and drinks here. The waiter Carmelo was very professional, but the pizzas were odd. We mentioned to the manager that the sauce had a strange flavour, and he said ‘oh yes we’re trialing a new sauce in this restaurant ‘. He didn’t seem surprised that we didn’t like it but oddly offered to refund a drink, rather than the food. It didn’t seem worth querying as he looked a bit lost and out of his depth.

Had American Hottest and Berry Mojito, was i ncredbile, even tho they were very busy, the food came quick, and even tho waitresses Gabi and Monika had a lot of tables to serve and were in a big rush, they still were really polite and helpful. Will definitely come back!

Food amazing, tasty, delicious, no complains, just very good. Atmosphere — whole place looks amazing and very comfy, i sat outdoor in „garden”, which was very clean which i was surprised for, because obviously it’s hard to keep it clean Service, Monika and Gabriela (Gabi) are the best, very friendly, always happy and happy to help at all costs, even when they were busy they were trying as best as they can, even when i spilled some of my drink, my table got fastly clean without even saying that it need to be washed, also whole service was quick, and my food came fast ❤️

Always our go to for fresh pizza . Staff excellent but a bid noisy with kids so we had to shout to each other but not a problem.

It’s within yards of the G Live so an ideal pre show place. The staff are really on the ball and don’t mess around as they’re conscious you need to be quick for the G Live event. The wine list is decent. The pizzas as ever are reliable and well cooked. Consistently good.

on instruction of the app I quickly called the restaurant the address was wrong, the staff wrote the new address for the driver and after calling refused to deliver it to the correct place.

Spacious environment. Thin crust pizza is just perfect. Tomato sauce is rich and cooked to perfection. Lots of vegetarian options for pizza including halal options. Cute ice creams for the little ones. Huge healthy salads. Tends to be crowded on Friday night. they have live music which is nice. A very family friendly place. I would come again a million times!

Love PE but this is the worst one we have ever been in. Interior is 'very tired', sorry to say but some of the staff were wearing aprons & using their mobiles in between serving. The staff were friendly but doesnt appear to be very well managed. Saw Chef making dishes... touching his face alot - no food handling gloves worn. My husbands pasta was dry with no flavour/garnish & he said it looked like a plate of vomit. Hate hate giving bad reviews but this is a famous chain - not a cheap place - so they should uphold their standards if they want to keep the reputation, we will not return to this branch.

Had an amazing solo culinary journey on my ones. The little blonde petite chef made me a mouthwatering pizza that I slobbered up. It was a tuna and olive pizza and it was scrummy. Hats off to the little blonde petite chef and big up caramel for hitting a tekky little step when delivering my pizza quick time. Food 10/10 Service 10/10 Personal Pleasure 10/10

They close at 11pm on a friday night. Walked in as a group of 2, the guy goes we have run out of dough. At 8:30 on a friday night hahahaha what a joke of a place 😂 There was a grand total of 7 people at the place with enough tables for a 100. Extremely disappointed!

What is wrong with this service.... There are no updates until 21.15 and then flips to delivered at 19.50. Seriously? have not received anything. I've never experienced anything like this in my life. Want my money back pronto.

The pizzeria was a find on a Friday evening after being rejected by other restaurants. The fact that it opens quite late is a nice advantage. As for pizzas, mine, a vegan gamberetti leggara, was delicious! Although surprised by the void in the middle, I was ultimately satisfied. My colleagues also enjoyed their pizzas, and the choice on the menu is vast. The service was fast and quality. I highly recommend !

Brilliant evening made better by live music Went for a family meal tonight and there was the usual great standard of food and drink. The waiting staff were attentive. A bonus as there was live music! The singer, Ruby London, was amazing! Great covers and enjoyable to listen to but not intrusive. Would go again to see this duo. Live music and pizza winning combination!

We regularly go to pizza express as its normally super efficient and friendly, great for kids. Guildford branch was disappointing, staff on their phones, slow service and poor quality pizza.

My family and I went to Pizza Express for New Years Eve. The food was delicious but the service was exceptional. Our waiter, Caramello, was an absolute star. His sense of humour, care and attention made our night. He went above and beyond. He kept us entertained and gave us many laughs. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and Caramello made it extremely special. He is one of a kind AND DESERVES A BONUS! Thank you to all the staff for a great evening. We will definitely be back.

I ordered a Fiorentina pizza and it was just gorgeous! The waitress was exceptionally helpful and advised my elderly friend after enquiring about her dietary requirements (she can't eat much and had a child size GF pizza) My friend was delighted with the suggestion and we both enjoyed the experience.
