Pizza Express in Guildford

Two main issues with this place. Main one is price - 5 of us ate (3 kids and 2 adults) and two of the kids meals were the 'free' kids meals promotion. So for three of us paying, we got pizza and soft drink and very little else for £110. The food is rank average at this price. Standard pizzas are small and very stringy on toppings. And charging over £5 for some dry dough balls is just outrageous. But actually our main gripe is that to get any of the prices etc they offer you have to down load an app and create an account etc. The last thing I want to do with my family when I get into a restaurant is to have to be on my phone for the first 15 mins. It sets a terrible example to my kids and restaurants should not be encouraging/forcing us to use phones at the table. Mobile phone for kids are a public health crisis and I cannot believe a family restaurant like Pizza Express take this line. I am afraid I would not recommend Pizza Express.

Pizza express was a good choice to come to with friends because the service was fast and easy to order more drinks. The food was good and there were good portion sizes.

Came for dinner after work with friends. We had top mark service from Mylo! He was smiley and friendly, checking in on us without being overbearing. A huge credit to the team! Customer service makes such a difference to the dining experience, especially when they were so busy.

Pav was very accommodating to our table of 12 for my birthday! The kids food arrived quickly, as well as the adult meals shortly after. We were in an area which wasn't encroached and the food is always great at Pizza Express. Thank you!

Took advantage of their £8 pizza. Monika, my server, explained that this price is for app members only. Downloaded the app, checked in with table number and got the discount. Monika was a gem, btw. Large long venue with a private room to boot.

The waitress was very nice. Otherwise, the place needed a jolly good clean. The walls and floors were filthy, the seating was torn in places and ‘repaired’ with masking tape but worst of all were the toilets. There was dried faeces in the toilet bowl, under the rim (I only know this because there is no way I would have sat down and so got a crouching view), the sinks and taps were covered in grime and the soap dispenser needed scrubbing. I had to use a lot of my own hand sanitizer as I felt that washing my hands added more germs! The place was empty so no excuse for having such a dirty place. I would never go there again and it’s put me off the whole chain.

I visited after a matinee performance at Glive. There is an excellent choice on the menu which caters to ALL tastes. I enjoyed my particular dish, the Ndjula Calzone. Is it good value? I don't really know. If you're prepared to pay the prices then I'd say yes. TBH, it is what it is. Enjoy👍

I like that there are good gluten free options. This makes it easy for me to order.

Great place, absolutely lovely, attentive staff, hats off for the Polish waitress, she made that day very special for my 12 year old birthday.

My brother with Down Syndrome and I stopped here for lunch today. As always, food was great & we received amazing service from the waiters - always trying to make him happy! The thing that I particularly wanted to mention; upon asking for the bill today, we were informed by a couple of the waiting staff that our bill had already been paid for by another table on top of their own bill. Unfortunately, these people had already left and I was still in complete shock as to why someone would do this for us. So for the very minuscule chance that these people may see this - I have no idea why you chose to do what you did, but what I can say is that your incredible kindness and generosity will never be forgotten. The selfless act you made is truly inspiring.

Ordered through deliveroo last night from this branch - the portion of potatoes was half filled but the pizza was appalling - there as barely any cheese on it and today we have tummy issues all day. Deliveroo gave us a refund but it’s worth the kitchen checking what happened with the order because it was really worrying

Disgusting treatment from the waiter, who bodyshamed myself and another person at the table. If you're looking to be insulted, then pizza express in Guildford is the best place for you! The food also arrived late and my friend's pizza was burnt underneath. A wonderful evening sadly ruined by a nasty waiter! Please DO NOT GO HERE.

Absolutely disgusting, horrendous experience. A birthday party booked Friday PM 2nd August was ruined by an older Italian waiter who made nasty comments about the physical appearance of two people in the party. Gobsmacked that this individual is employed. Night was cut short PURELY because of this nasty man being abusive. I’m still in shock!!! Party tried to continue despite members in floods of tears. Still have no idea what drove him to do this!!!! I would like to dicuss this incident in thorough.

A lovely evening was cut short due to a nasty waiter who made fun of the appearance of two people at the table. Telling one of them as a "joke" to go on a diet. Disgusting and uncalled for. If you want to go somewhere where you're insulted, then is the right place for you!

Friendly service, nice food but nothing amazing..

Had a couple of pizzas and drinks here. The waiter Carmelo was very professional, but the pizzas were odd. We mentioned to the manager that the sauce had a strange flavour, and he said ‘oh yes we’re trialing a new sauce in this restaurant ‘. He didn’t seem surprised that we didn’t like it but oddly offered to refund a drink, rather than the food. It didn’t seem worth querying as he looked a bit lost and out of his depth.

Food amazing, tasty, delicious, no complains, just very good. Atmosphere — whole place looks amazing and very comfy, i sat outdoor in „garden”, which was very clean which i was surprised for, because obviously it’s hard to keep it clean Service, Monika and Gabriela (Gabi) are the best, very friendly, always happy and happy to help at all costs, even when they were busy they were trying as best as they can, even when i spilled some of my drink, my table got fastly clean without even saying that it need to be washed, also whole service was quick, and my food came fast ❤️

Had American Hottest and Berry Mojito, was i ncredbile, even tho they were very busy, the food came quick, and even tho waitresses Gabi and Monika had a lot of tables to serve and were in a big rush, they still were really polite and helpful. Will definitely come back!

Always our go to for fresh pizza . Staff excellent but a bid noisy with kids so we had to shout to each other but not a problem.

It’s within yards of the G Live so an ideal pre show place. The staff are really on the ball and don’t mess around as they’re conscious you need to be quick for the G Live event. The wine list is decent. The pizzas as ever are reliable and well cooked. Consistently good.

on instruction of the app I quickly called the restaurant the address was wrong, the staff wrote the new address for the driver and after calling refused to deliver it to the correct place.

Spacious environment. Thin crust pizza is just perfect. Tomato sauce is rich and cooked to perfection. Lots of vegetarian options for pizza including halal options. Cute ice creams for the little ones. Huge healthy salads. Tends to be crowded on Friday night. they have live music which is nice. A very family friendly place. I would come again a million times!

Love PE but this is the worst one we have ever been in. Interior is 'very tired', sorry to say but some of the staff were wearing aprons & using their mobiles in between serving. The staff were friendly but doesnt appear to be very well managed. Saw Chef making dishes... touching his face alot - no food handling gloves worn. My husbands pasta was dry with no flavour/garnish & he said it looked like a plate of vomit. Hate hate giving bad reviews but this is a famous chain - not a cheap place - so they should uphold their standards if they want to keep the reputation, we will not return to this branch.

Had an amazing solo culinary journey on my ones. The little blonde petite chef made me a mouthwatering pizza that I slobbered up. It was a tuna and olive pizza and it was scrummy. Hats off to the little blonde petite chef and big up caramel for hitting a tekky little step when delivering my pizza quick time. Food 10/10 Service 10/10 Personal Pleasure 10/10

They close at 11pm on a friday night. Walked in as a group of 2, the guy goes we have run out of dough. At 8:30 on a friday night hahahaha what a joke of a place 😂 There was a grand total of 7 people at the place with enough tables for a 100. Extremely disappointed!

What is wrong with this service.... There are no updates until 21.15 and then flips to delivered at 19.50. Seriously? have not received anything. I've never experienced anything like this in my life. Want my money back pronto.

The pizzeria was a find on a Friday evening after being rejected by other restaurants. The fact that it opens quite late is a nice advantage. As for pizzas, mine, a vegan gamberetti leggara, was delicious! Although surprised by the void in the middle, I was ultimately satisfied. My colleagues also enjoyed their pizzas, and the choice on the menu is vast. The service was fast and quality. I highly recommend !

Brilliant evening made better by live music Went for a family meal tonight and there was the usual great standard of food and drink. The waiting staff were attentive. A bonus as there was live music! The singer, Ruby London, was amazing! Great covers and enjoyable to listen to but not intrusive. Would go again to see this duo. Live music and pizza winning combination!

We regularly go to pizza express as its normally super efficient and friendly, great for kids. Guildford branch was disappointing, staff on their phones, slow service and poor quality pizza.

Had margarita on classic base - base so thin! Felt like romana base -disappointed. Service good and value for money. Redeemed the pizza by adding garlic oil.

It was so busy in there and not enough staff. Tables, toilets and restaurant floor were dirty. Not impressed with coleslaw and polenta chips. Way overpriced for what they are.

My family and I went to Pizza Express for New Years Eve. The food was delicious but the service was exceptional. Our waiter, Caramello, was an absolute star. His sense of humour, care and attention made our night. He went above and beyond. He kept us entertained and gave us many laughs. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and Caramello made it extremely special. He is one of a kind AND DESERVES A BONUS! Thank you to all the staff for a great evening. We will definitely be back.

I ordered a Fiorentina pizza and it was just gorgeous! The waitress was exceptionally helpful and advised my elderly friend after enquiring about her dietary requirements (she can't eat much and had a child size GF pizza) My friend was delighted with the suggestion and we both enjoyed the experience.

Lovely food, very decently priced and a fairly big pizza, very clam atmosphere and the staff were really lovely, it is really nice to hear the chef singing whilst he is cooking and 3 of the staff talking in Italian amongst themselves. We really enjoyed our meal and would love to return some time in the future.

Pretty disappointing as we generally feel PE is the best. But today's delivery fell very far short - chosen largely for its Gluten Free options for one of our party, but the GF Dough Balls were not delivered, instead we had 2 standard dough balls, and while we tried to sort this out with a phone call, the rest of our meal got cold and we were told we had to photograph the error and send it in - this is not service, it is prevarication! We WILL be going elsewhere, not so much because of the error, but beecause of the attitude and policy of the people we dealt with.

My food was cold, there was no extra cheese like I ordered and the olives had not been removed as requested. The delivery driver phoned me before delivering asking me unreasonable questions, giving demands that were beyond acceptable, he was rude on the phone also. When the driver arrived he had clearly been lost but then told me it was my problem the food was cold and inedible and was yet again rude and his behaviour was disgusting!!

I'm not sure what happened to the express part. Will have a high threshold to return.

We are on a mission to try all the restaurants in Guildford working our way down the High St. Pizza Express wouldn’t normally be on our shortlist of restaurants to visit and I don’t know why it’s not! . We had such a lovely meal there and the service was excellent. An added bonus is the live singer. It is definitely on our list to go back to!

The staff here, particularly Monica and Carmelo are exceptional. They have their own inimitable style and are simply excellent. The food is reliable and tasty.

We had my daughter's 9th birthday party here and it worked so well. 18 children were each given a ball of dough and then shown how make their own pizza which, after being cooked, they each got to eat. It really worked out and was just so chilled for a kids party

I paid almost £6 and I got very very small portion. It was click & collect, just realized when I arrived home. Never again!!!!

Absolutely amazing from start to finish. The food was the best we have ever experienced at a pizza express and the atmosphere was lively in the best way. But put all that aside the service was by far the best I have EVER experienced!! And having worked for the ivy myself I can certainly say that Gabi ( our waitress ) was amazing !! She was super quick for every element but more so her personality was kind, personable with just the right amount of chat! She was a joy and again the best waitress I’ve had! Fantastic

Super busy on Saturday night and just managed to get a table at 5.30pm before the queues got long. Staff were absolutely run off their feet but remained courteous and kind. Food as always was great for us and the kids.

Unbelievably shocking. Waited 10 minutes at the podium to be seating while staff members just walked past me. When I was finally seated no one came to take my order. I tried to catch the attention of the waiting staff when I caught there eye they simply looked away and acted like they didn’t see me. After 20 minutes sat down I just walked out. I am a pizza express regular and I usually can’t fault them. Not sure I’ll go back after this experience

Our waiter Caramello was a joy. Very amusing banter, and a genuine Italian guy serving in a pizza restaurant. He made us feel right at home. Great choice of food, my sloppy guiseppe was scrummy. My friend was over whelmed with the vegan menu. A little more pricy than expected but everything we had was 😋 😋

Fab service from the moment we walked in. Our waitress was really helpful and friendly. The food was served really quickly and was delicious.

For a franchise it was ample, it had some made/contrived atmosphere with a visit. Sorry for the contrived comment, I am cynical sometimes unfairly.
