Food was average and basic menu. Fish and chips at £17 wasn't worth it. Team serving were lovely and very attentive. Place was very cold as no log fires lit !

OK for a drink however food menu is very limited, and personally do not like dogs being in a food area. Staff very friendly, however very loud if you want a quiet Atmosphere.

Booked a table for an early (not open for lunch on the actual day)celebratory birthday lunch. Was a bit disappointed that the lunch time menu seemed to be light bites and snacks only, this being at odds with the website. However enquired of dinner menu and was told that this would be available. Result! The two young ladies behind the bar were brilliant, a real asset to our experience. The speed of service and their attentiveness deserves special mention. My starter was a superb combination meats, salad and bread roll, enough to rein in the hunger pangs light enough to leave room for the main even. A very decent steak, mushrooms, tomatoes and chunky chips, a proper plate full which I thoroughly enjoyed. My wife's dessert, a chocolate and raspberry mouse was not an afterthought on a plate but a beautifully presente sensible portion of tastiness. Well done The Stockton Cross and your staff. Thank you.

Under new management, thank god. Went to have a meal, and the bar was pretty full with loud music playing in the background . So everyone was shouting above the music. We sat at our table and couldn't hear ourselves speak. We decided to leave. The server came to take our order, and we explained the situation to her. She took immediate control and said I'll sort that out for you. Within a minute, the music had been turned right down . The people in the bar stopped shouting and started talking, and the noise level came right down. We then ordered our meal, which came in quick time. Beautifully cooked and most enjoyable. Kudos to the server. Will certainly be going back.

Friendly pub with good restaurant attached. Food was very good with lots of choice. Portions were generous. Full of locals contributing to a good ambience. Landlady & Landlord were friendly and Stowford the Newfoundland dog even friendlier. Would definitely recommend for a nice stopover between Leominster & Northern points.

Warm welcome from Andy and Stowford with a roaring fire place. Good selection of local ales and ciders plus an array of gins, whiskeys and rums to suit all tastes. Food was fantastic, best (and biggest meal) for weeks. Large car park at rear.

A C16 drivers inn that I hadn"t visited since the late 1990's with my girlfriend at the time. The present landlord hasn't been in residence that long either. The food portions are generous for the price. I didn't eat again that day. This was at lunchtime. I wish them every success. These historic inns need to be used & preserved. Grade II listed.

Great Sunday lunch with all the trimmings. Pub not busy, staff friendly. Dishes were great value and tasty. Great yorkshire puddings.

Change of ownership - used to be a nice welcome, nice meal and neat/tidy tables - unfortunately not any more. Booked table but seemed unaware and unprepared for us. Beef was raw but vegetables were nice. Nobody checked in with us - when we caught attention our comment on beef was met with an 'Oh' - no offer to address or cook more. Plates were cleared whilst some were still eating - still shocked by this! Comment made to us on beef was 'at least the dog will enjoy it' - warranted reply 'at least somebody will'. Landlord didnt seem interested but nice lady tried to apologise and did take 1 of 4 meals off.

What a great find, a proper pub with good beer and food. We will be back.

went to The Stockton cross the other night for dinner.....it was simple faire but amazing flavours and brilliantly cooked..... a very friendly atmosphere...landlord was a proper old school landlord......love it ....and will be back.......great ale too

I had visited the evening prior as I'm in Hereford on business and staying nearby. Unfortunately they were closed, I tried again this evening. I hadn't booked to eat but the landlord was really kind and did let me order. The food was lovely as was the landlord, thank you. If I find myself nearby again I will be sure to book and visit again. Had a fabulous Sunday lunch in this, our lovely local Pub. The Beef and all the trimmings were delicious and so were the puds. Well done Tom and Ian so glad that The Stockton are doing food again.

We visited this lovely local inn sunday at midday. Didnt realise they were closed and apparently opens from 3pm. I was welcomed by the landlord and he said thats not a problem and welcomed my family in for drinks and crisps, as of course no food being served as closed. He made us very welcome and had a thoroughly lovely hour enjoying ourselves outside in the sun. The landlord was very pleasant and makes a change from some inns I have frequented. Will definately be back again, next time for a lovely meal. Thankyou once again for being so accommodating and genuinely welcoming, a pleasure to have met you.

DO NOT USEONLINE BOOKING SYSTEM, THEY HAVE NO CHEF. we had a call whilst in transit on Mothers Day to say there was an error, and they hadn't used open table for bookings for 'sometime'. They let us know 40 minutes before our table time. We booked it weeks ago. Very, very poor. I see from other people this has been happening since September last year? Seems to me someone should sort it out properly. very disappointing and I would have had time to book something else if they had let me know at the time.

Booked a table for Mother's Day on Open table for 12pm. Not blooming open till 3pm!!!! Update your details!!!!

Very friendly small country pub. A handful of tables out the front to sit and enjoy the sun with a drink in your hand.

Just want to say a huge thankyou to the new Landlord of the Stocktons Cross Inn. He allowed us to use the venue for my Father's funeral wake this afternoon and couldn't have been more accommodating. What a fantastic breath of fresh air for the pub, just exactly what the Stocktons Cross needed for its community. Thankyou Ian, will look forward to visiting again soon. Dean and family.

Ian the new manager is very polite and friendly. Drinks only at the moment. When up and running properly cannot wait to try the food too.

We had drinks in the beer garden at front of pub, on main crossroads of Kimbolton village. Lovely walk into the village from our holiday home, and drink at the pub was just what we needed. Staff very accommodating. We didn't stop for food.

Lovely old pub, friendly staff. Good food, would have preferred more choice of potato options however the chips were very good even though they wouldn't have been my first choice specifically with main options being beef or belly pork. On the plus side it was no problem to tweak our meals or ask for certain sauces, dips or coulis to come separately which is always nice to have the option. Would go again.

I had lunch here today. The pub was light and very clean. The staff member was extremely polite and helpful. Good measures were in place for protecting us all from covid 19 . The meals were good. chips were amazing. It lacked portion size equal to price. We had pudding and my husband and I agree it was the most stunning sticky toffee pudding we have ever tasted. It was pure pleasure to eat. Will be back again, just for pudding! 😊

Great steak burger. Staff brought our dog a bowl of water with our drinks, nice touch. Young but brilliant staff welcoming.

Menu very limited, when we visited there was no chicken or steak on the menu. My vegetarian husband had one choice onion risotto, I could say more but will refrain.

Our first meal out since lockdown and didn't disappoint!had fish and chips which were cooked beautifully,I had sticky toffee pudding, my husband had treacle tart,would definitely recommend this pub.The staff were great and the tables were spaced out well in accordance with lockdown rules,couldn't fault it!

Very limited food menu, not allowed at bar, no drinks menu. Have always rated food here but this was disappointingly average. Not sure people will visit when meals are full price again.

On holiday and we were recommended the Stockton Cross. We were greeted by super friendly staff and managed to get a sunny table in garden. We ordered rarebit and the lamb shoulder. 10/10 would love to come back again.

A lovely example of a gastro pub (if that is your thing) with an upmarket setting, extremely attentive and professional staff, good food etc. Would not be out of place in the City of London as far as food and service (and prices) go - but it's a long way from being a 'village pub', if that's what you are looking for.

A true country pub atmosphere with fabulous country looks to match, beautiful building with plenty of charm inside and out. The carpark is a good size and easy to find. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Our first visit was on my birthday, when I mentioned this to the two waitresses they bought my dessert out with a candle popped on top and sang happy birthday, it was such a lovely touch! Absolutely no complaints about the food it was delicious and very well presented. Highly recommend for any occasion. Sorry no photos of the food it was that good i was too busy enjoying it 👌

As ever delicious food served in a timely fashion on hot/warm plates! Food for the eye as well as the mouth and tum. Service excellent but unobtrusive. Attention paid to the allergies of my fellow diner with checks on contents of recipes being allowable. Good humour to complete an excellent evening out.

A little gem close to Hereford and Leominster. The menu is 'limited' but it means they specialise in what they do! The staff are always friendly, have a great selection of drinks including over 30 gins. Eating inside or outside is fine and parking is very easy. You do need to book so that's the only negative, but it's because its busy and not a big place. Perfect really.

Thoroughly offended. Called at 14:40 and booked a table, the lady said final orders at 2:30.. Arrived 15 mins later to be told they had taken further bookings.... I have never been so mistreated as a customer.

The Stockton cross has now closed down. Now open again after a refurb. Not fair to comment, as we have not used it since the work has been done. Not prepared to comment on hearsay from others. (March 2019).

Sunday lunch visit, the food was amazing and lots of it, both the beef and the pork were perfectly cooked and we both left very full. Staff and regulars very friendly and welcoming.

We are staying locally in a rented house to host our golden wedding celebrations with family and friends. We went to the Stockton Cross last night with our two oldest friends and loved it. The tempura king prawns and warm Camembert with cranberries and nuts were excellent. Our friend was ecstatic about her main course fish dish (I am not sure of the exact ingredients, but it was probably sea bass) and the rest of us thoroughly enjoyed our lamb. The first two courses were however so filling that afterwards we could only manage one dessert each betwen two. Mine was creme brulée and delicious. The staff were genuinely friendly, and we can highly recommend the place based on our experience. If we lived locally we would certainly come again... and again.

Stunning dinner here. Wife's sea bass was one of the tastiest pieces of fish she's ever had. My fillet steak was cooked to perfection, very reasonably priced too! Try a pint of Hereford Ale Betty Bach - so smooth!

Lovely little quiet pub, recently renovated to a very high standard. Hosted by a young couple who deserve support from old and new customers. Try it and be pleased.

Had light bite lunch , all ok service and nosh. Rather 'quirky ' young fellow behind bar that looked like he had just stepped off Poldark set ,maybe I'm getting old ! Seriously I suspect all is good here for dinner and a full blown lunch.

We came up to Hereford from the IOW friends had booked Sunday Lunch everything about it was perfect. We will go back when we are next in Hereford str ongly recommend the Beef!!

Lovely old half timbered pub. We visited here for lunch on our way to Berrington Hall. It has a cosy atmosphere and was busy when we arrived. We had a warm and courteous welcome and settled down with a drink to look at the menu which changes on an almost daily basis. There were only 5-6 choices for each course and we fancied everything on the starter menu. I had the cauliflower cheese soup with crusty bread and butter and my wife had the tempura king prawns. These were both delicious. The tempura batter was wonderfully light and the prawns were HUGE. We then chose Herefordshire beef burgers from the main menu. These were topped with nicely cooked streaky bacon and melted cheese and served in a brioche bun filled with salad and sliced dill pickles. I had mine with dry fluffy fries and my wife opted for chunky chips which she declared extremely good. We were too full for a pudding which was a pity as they all sounded very appealing. The only slight disappointment was that the coffee machine was out of order. The staff were friendly, efficient and attentive. All in all a very pleasant experience and one that we would happily repeat.

Walked over a mile with our children to be told they were fully booked, even though it was 6pm on a Tuesday, so unexpected. When we asked if we could possibly be accommodated we were told "we are fully booked ." Unhelpful, not even willing to check booking times to see if they could fit us in.
