The Stiperstones Inn in Shropshire

Enjoyed a 3 course Sunday lunch. Note that they do Sunday roasts which are not on the menu. All home cooked fresh food. Friendly, helpful staff, reasonable prices and lovely clean toilets. Thanks to the lady that helped us with an accessible table.

Our party of 3 booked a table on August bank holiday Monday when many other pubs were closed. Firstly We did a 5 mile walk In the hills of Stiperstones then rewarded ourselves with a pub lunch...it was fantastic! 2 brilliant steaks and 1 huge gammon with all the trimmings.very generous portions.Also good desserts and beer.Friendly attentive staff and good prices.As another reviewer said its a shame we live a bit too far away or we would definitely be regulars..but will return as soon as we can Thank you

Came here after a walk in the stiperstones nature reserve. Friendly staff, good menu that caters well for gluten intolerance and vegetarian. Fresh and hot, food very tasty and good portions, lovely location and clean. Would come here again.

Four of us had lunch here yesterday and what a find! The proprietor was very friendly as were all of his staff. Everyone seemed very happy in their work. The food was amazing. One very happy vegetarian, two fantastic Sunday roast beef dinners with homemade Yorkshire pud and lashings of gravy and a very tasty suet steak and kidney pie. To top it all, I couldn't believe you can order a larger portion if you were hungry for free! So we had extra potatoes. We were very impressed and seriously could not find a fault in any way, even the price was amazing. My only grumble is I live too far away otherwise I'd be there all the time. Thank you to you all.

Basic pub food done really well. Really friendly and helpful staff. A new bit had been added on since my last visit and the outside space is really spacious and clean. This pub is a good call if you are in the Minsterley/The Bog/Stiperstones area. Good range of beers/cider, too. Recommended.

The food and service was excellent and reasonably priced. The welcoming atmosphere made us feel very comfortable instantly. We'll definitely be going back (hopefully sooner rather than later)

We stayed for a week at a local self catering barn a short distance from Stiperstones village. My wife myself and our dog dined at the pub every day either for lunch or for an evening meal. There was always a warm welcome and the pub had a lovely atmosphere. Over the week we worked our way through the very good choices on their menu. Every meal was absolutely delicious and the portions plentiful and if you wanted a larger portion then this was given at no extra cost. The price of the meals was very reasonable, and served with a good pint of Butty Bach real ale topped the bill. We will definitely be coming again, even if we are not staying near by, but just for a drive out to do some walking in the Stiperstones. Can highly recommend the Stiperstones Inn.

THE best! Highly recommend this place. We arrived earlier than expected and the very friendly staff were accommodating and explaining there may be a longer wait than usual. The food was well worth the shorter wait than we expected, we had burgers, which the landlord informed us are locally sourced, my husband is a burger connoisseur and gave it 10/10👍 Though not local to us, we will definitely go again

Reply fancied a pub lunch so stopped at this pub. We visited on a Saturday and it was really busy, quite a long wait on the food. We were initially sat in the bar area and the tables were really small, not big enough to eat a meal on. We asked to be moved to the main restaurant and were sat next to a group of lads who must have known the staff. Staff were very attentive to them but we were barely spoken to and wasnt asked if the food was ok and if we wanted dessert. Not great customer service. Probably wouldn’t return.

You know those pubs where the locals go quiet when you walk in? This isn't one of them. Friendly bunch of locals, good beer (Butty Bach) and excellent food.

We called in for lunch and had a lovely experience. The bar staff were great and very attentive to all customers (not just us), the food was spot on and the waitress very accommodating. Not our first time and won’t be our last! Well done Stiperstones Inn

Cosy pub, great value meals and friendly staff. The pub was very busy , but they fitted us in as long as we ordered quickly before the rush, and I have to that we were pleased that we did. Recommended after a walk in the shropshire hills.

Stayed here in our Motorhome and had a great meal and proper ale. All super value. Smaller portions for those who prefer and suited me fine. Delicious fish and chips.

Made very welcome when we went in for a drink on Friday night with the dog. Place was heaving. Enjoyed it so much we went back for a meal on the Saturday night. Simple pub food well presented with lots of choice. The pub plays to its strengths. The locals are welcoming, giving helpful tips as to where to go and see. If you are staying nearby it is well worth a visit

My niece wanted to book a surprise meal for my sister her mum, so she looked at the menus of pubs in a 10 mile radius of where they were staying. She chose the stiperstones as the menu catered for her Lactose gluten intolerance and being vegan it restricted most down considerably but not Stiperstones. We arrived a bit late which wasn't a problem and were shown to our table and given menus which were amazing, they really did have everything. The staff were amazing, the service was fantastic and the food was excellent. The one girl there really went above and beyond for my niece when asking about desserts, so much so she went into the kitchen and created an amazing dessert especially for my niece and it was amazing. How many restaurants/ pubs/ cafe or anything would do this, none that i've ever been to. What an absolutely amazing thing to do and it totally made my nieces night and tasted amazing she said. The bill came and we couldn't believe how cheap it was too, the owners should be super proud of an amazing team they have. Thank you all

My partner and I travelled from north Wales to meet family for Easter lunch . The staff were amazing , so welcoming and friendly. It was busy because it was Easter Sunday so food took a little while to arrive but this was no problem as gave us chance for a good catch up . My mum had turkey Sunday lunch and we had the gammon which was cooked to perfection and the chunky chips were delicious . Fluffy inside and the nicest chips I’ve tasted in a long time The desserts were fab . I had the Easter Egg Sundae , the others in the group had roulade and cream , roulade and ice cream and the toffee sundae Staff were attentive despite being so busy and couldn’t do enough for you . Highly recommended and would certainly go back . A proper country pub without the pretentiousness , great value meals and a lovely rural location amidst the Shropshire Hills !

Had another great lunch here. Found this lovely place last year on holiday. I had bangers and mash and my husband had fish and chips both were very good and very good value for money. Lovely staff.

Tried to have the lamb shank, but they'd run out, so tried the chicken & leek pudding, but that had also run out! Settled on the trio of sausages with mash which was very tasty. Cider choice was a fizzy one or a still rhubarb one. Two cask beers on. They are currently having building works done, so the toilets are a temporary block out in the car park (but immaculately clean).

After a morning at the local ` Alpaca ` experience, and temperature decidedly going very chilly, lunch at a local Inn was a must. I have meant to go to the Stiperstones Inn for many years, but circumstances or changed plans have always led to missing it out on our journeys. Today however with my Wife and daughter, we called in for lunch -and found what all English Pubs should be, welcoming and friendly staff, a great warm roaring fire, and above excellent food and great beer. Steaks cooked to perfection, a Whinberry and Pear Crumble to die for, and a great pint. The lady serving also provided some French Mustard in pots for us to take with us as I had mentioned how hard it was to get in local supermarkets lately. That's the extra mile that counted for a lot. IF you are in the South Shropshire area and haven't yet tried the Stiperstones Inn, go and have a wonderful dining experience of good Pub food, at a fair price, and great portions! We came here as my friend recommended it. It was amazing! I had a Pork and Apple Gourmet burger with fries. The burger was great and not sickly which I find happens a lot. Probably the best burger I've ever had. The fries were a bit crispy and not soggy. I drank a coke which was a really nice syrup one. The service was good and last minute, I decided to have a smarties sundae, it was vanilla and chocolate with smarties and bubblegum and what I thought was raspberry syrup. First post lockdown meal here today, and I'm very happy to say the food is still excellent, the service also excellent, and the welcome very warm!! I would definitly recommend it here, but book ahead as its usually busy.Social distancing in place, but well done and not intrusive. I've never had a bad meal here, but I appreciated this so much more after not having a meal out since March.

As pubs open up after lockdown, its great to be able to visit the Stiperstones again. Met with friends in the newly refurbished bar - due to social distancing we ended up with a table each, but were still able to chat with some good draught beer and some excellent freshly prepared food - very tasty and nothing left on our plates at the end. They have done a great job in the bar with the refit, without loosing the charm of the place. So good to see them open again and be able to relax after a strenuous time in the hills.

Booked a day ahead for an eight person family and friends meal. Table was set up ready even though we revised our booking time and it wasn't a problem. Service was fantastic, food great value for money, very friendly place which values its customers. Thank you so much we had a lovely time and ate far too much!

Phil and his team are amazing! The food is incredible and the staff are so friendly and helpful. We had a poorly toddler but the staff made us feel so welcome and relaxed despite this. Fantastic! Best pub in Shropshire! See you all again soon.

If you are looking for somewhere to eat on budget, then this is the place for you, food is decent quality and landlord Phil is very approachable with a vast knowledge of the local area, they have branched out and supply their own merchandise such as cups and homemade jams or if you fancy something a little different, why not try some flavoured gins that they also make themselves. Love this pub and return every year when in this area.

We were staying nearby, came for dinner and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Obviously a well used and appreciated pub, we were happy to be part of it and made to feel very welcome!

Food was basic even chips etc was microwaved,service in the bar was non existent I was called to the bar when the food was ready and on bar top amid a dozen workers.Dont go at 5 o clock it's like being in a scrum.

I had a good T-bone steak, cooked as I requested, my wife had the Chicken & Leek suet pudding, we were both so full, we were unable to order the delicious sounding desserts, so maybe next time!

Dropped in after a long walk on the Stiperstones ridge, to be welcomed by a lovely friendly Landlady who served a fantastic toasted sandwich and a well deserved pint. Welcomes walkers and pooches. I should imagine it would be lovely sitting in the bar in the winter with the log burner on and warming your feet. Will definitely be back when next in the area.

Out walking with friends and made this our mid way stop for lunch. Was a busy Sunday for them but still we were made to feel welcome. A large menu and many veggie options. Very accommodating for allergies also. We sat and ate in the garden. A lovely relaxing lunch before we made our way back.

A lovely pub that serves unpretentious food at good prices. I see that one review had expected " homemade chips" really? At these prices I wasn't expecting chips, I thought that they would have been added as " a side".I had chilli and rice, which truth be told could have had a bit more of a chilli hit, but of course you can't please everyone.I've also had the traditional ploughmans lunch which comes in two sizes, both being excellent value for money. I chose our cottage because it was near this Inn. I read the reviews and it promised home cooked pub grub. Perfect for our needs after long days walking.

This pub topped mine and my boyfriends weekend off by serving us some great food. I am a veggie and there was so much to choose from. The meals were so tasty and came out fresh. Quick service and friendly staff. We didn’t manage to get photos as we enjoyed our food too much. Very much recommend a visit, food is amazing and exceptionally pleased with prices. Would go again.

First person we met was the very friendly Wednesday night bar man, then again a very friendly lady who took our dinner order.

My son and I stayed at the Stiperstones Inn in late June for 3 nights. We spent 15 days in rural areas and this turned out to be about our favorite stop. The owners were on holiday, but the hospitable staff and other family members filled in admirably. Our room upstairs wasn't quite ready when we arrived, so they gave us drinks on the house at the bar while the room was readied. This certainly put me in a good frame of mind! We ate and drank in the pub all 3 nights and enjoyed it immensely. (Their whinberry gin is a winner!) The room was everything we needed it to be, and the breakfast was really nice.

Went for Sunday lunch, service was terrible 55 minutes between courses, food was beyond terrible limp frozen veg, Aunt Bessie’s frozen roast potatoes... all Microwaved.. desert was slightly better but again below par. restaurant was also full of Flys which was very off putting,. We had to ask for desert menus and could have easily have walked out without paying as no one paid us any attention, we had to go to the bar, and find someone to pay..would never go back..

The pub has a very cozy atmosphere, the staff are friendly. The food was good, I ordered the lamb shank and it was really delicious. They got good parking spaces as well.

Stopped off on the off chance for late dinner and was pleasantly surprised to hear they served all day, all dishes prepared to order and were happy to make any changes to dishes, excellent barman think his name was Bob, who was not only very welcoming and a great sense of humour, but also very knowledgeable on the amazing range of guest ales and ciders, the food choice was great and reasonably priced with good value for money portions, a real hidden gem wish I lived closer, but I will definitely be back when visiting my brother, and we may even stay in the B&B; or one of the cottages

Friendly old inn set in wonderful surroundings, only downside not very good views from windows but you can eat outside. Very popular euthanasia walkers and locals. We stayed locally and called into the pub a few times but we called in for dinner one of the nights. Food and beer were great, we all had different meals and cleared our plates. Service was good and for hearty homemade food, it was so cheap! Would definitely visit again.
