The Steading Country Inn in Highland

Don't book this thinking you'll be in the centre of Drumnadrochit. We wanted a place out in the countryside and The Steading delivers! Sheila is very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast is amazing. We loved our room, The Targe, it was big and comfortable. Very good value for money.

Stayed at The Steading for seven nights but wish we could have stayed longer. The room was spacious and comfortable, we had a living room with an upstairs bedroom. Everything was clean and well stocked with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and shortbread. The breakfast was hot and delicious. We had the full Scottish breakfast on the first morning but realised there was simply too much food for us. We were more sensible for the rest of the week! We also had The evening meal twice and The meals were again, delicious. The owners are friendly and approachable, nothing too much trouble. Cannot recommend this place enough and can't wait to go back.

We have just spent 2 fantastic days in the Scottish Highlands and couldn't have had a better place to stay. The steadings is rural and a 10 minute drive to anywhere which is why we booked it. Arrived early and asked if we could check in and we're told no problem and shown to our room. We booked the deluxe suite which was huge for a BB with separate lounge, dressing area and bedroom. Bathroom was huge as well. Very modern appliances with an old scottish charm to the decor. The room was spotless and well supplied with tea,coffee,waters,shortbread. Nothing to much bother for the owners. We booked dinner of the menu in the room and the food was superb as well as the breakfast in the morning. All in all great location,great service,fantastic room and food. £81 for all of this is excellent value for money ( dinner is extra).

The nicest people, great dinner & breakfast, big room with new bathroom, cosy bed and lovely duvet! Would advice everybody to come here.

Une excellente escale proche de Urquhart Castle et du musée du Loch Ness. Chambre très agréable et spacieuse. Restauration et Petit déjeuner copieux. Un grand merci à notre hôtesse !

The Steading Country Inn is ontzettend mooi gelegen midden in de natuur. Daardoor is het s avonds echt ontzettend stil. Warm welkom van de eigenaresse. Restaurant op locatie met prima Schotse maaltijden. Keuze in het ontbijt. Onze kamer was een soort van apart blokhutje wat erg leuk was, sfeervol ingericht. Goed werkende verwarming. Alles netjes schoon.

I absolutely fell in love with this place. Perfectly quaint and traditional. Extremely cosy and very welcoming the owners are lovely and amazing hosts. The pictures don't do it justice. It's so peaceful and the rooms are pristine. The food is amazing and home cooked, for an extremely reasonable price aswell. 100% will go back. The little gift of chocolate and a souvenir at the end just topped off a wonderful stay. You might even spot the monster!

Quiet and homely B&B, comfy & clean, very friendly host and delicious home cooked meals. Out of town but easy to find & parking provided.

A superb location with some great walks and views in this area. We were made to feel really welcome and our room was good. It had a sitting area downstairs and a cosy bedroom on a mezzanine. It was warm and very quiet. The food was great and they went out of their way to make sure my wife who is gluten free was well looked after and catered for. Great find and would definitely recommend.

The Steading is in a lovely, rural and peaceful spot. A few miles out of Drumnadrochit itself so unless you're really keen on cycling and walking you will need a car. This is the perfect place to unwind, we had room 4(The Targe) which had it's own private entrance and a lovely little place to sit in the sunshine outside, yes we had sun! We took a drive up the road to Glen Affric then checked in here, a warm welcome awaits and the bar is so homely and cosy with a good selection of bottled beers. We chose to dine here also and the food was outstanding, reasonably priced and generous portions. I had the Steading pizza which came with a very generous topping, I've never seen so much chicken on a pizza and it was delicious. The menu is great and I would certainly return for longer next time so that I could try more of it! The room was spotless, very well equipped and comfortable. We live and work on The Isle of Skye and this is a perfect escape for us, a great place to unwind! We will be back, hopefully we can time it for the next few sunny days that Scotland gets....... oh and before I forget, Breakfast was amazing too!

Trouvé par hasard (en retrait de la route), ce B&B très au calme permet de s’éloigner de l'animation touristique du Loch Ness, et est proche du Glen Affric. Chambre confortable et spacieuse sur deux niveaux, bonne literie, accueil très chaleureux des propriétaires. Scottish breakfast très bon et copieux.Le pub/restaurant permettent de se restaurer sur place si on le souhaite.

What a delight. Great location, off the beaten track with a very warm welcome. Our room was lovely, very quiet and well provided. We had evening meal in the bar which was really good, warm fire on the go and great service. The breakfast was fantastic and enough to see you through for a couple of days. Very friendly and we would not hesitate to go back and will be recommending it to everyone we know.

I really can't rate this little piece of heaven highly enough and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to any couple looking for a tranquil setting to catch up on some together time. The room was quaint and cosy the bed was very comfortable, the room was clean and access was good. There are meals available in the bar at a reasonable price and the portions are generous and very tasty also the breakfast which was included in the price is perfect to set you up for the day to go explore the natural beauty of the area. You host Sheila is extremely helpful and very approachable she goes above and beyond to make sure your stay is like home from home, she really has got this dialled in to maximum. A perfect idyllic and peaceful stay, a true gem in the highlands which is easy to find and far enough out so has little light pollution to see the stars but not too far away from the bustling city of Inverness. Questo hotel si trova in una zona rurale con boschi ed aria fresca a 15 minuti di percorrenza con auto da Drumnadrochit. È abbastanza facile da ricordare la posizione tenendo in conto che Drumnadrochit è un piccolo borgo. Il parcheggio è abbastanza ampio ed è condiviso con il pub (proprietà dell'hotel). La camera era pulita ed il servizio attento. La stanza era abbastanza spaziosa, così come il bagno. L'arredamento tipico di casette di campagna inglesi. Il letto molto comodo. I termosifoni ed il riscaldamento funzionavano egregiamente. La ricezione del wi-fi era ottima. La televisione era piccola ma piena di canali. Era presente un bollitore con accanto una riserva di te, caffè solubile, latte, zucchero e due merendine al cioccolato gratis. Non era presente frigo. La colazione è con servizio al tavolo, cucina tipica scozzese, i piatti sono sostanziosi. Abbiamo anche cenato, ed i piatti sono veramente buoni. Da tenere in considerazione gli orari di chiusura del pub, che comunque risultano in linea con gli orari britannici. Il prezzo mi è parso un po' altino per gli standard scozzesi, ma non per gli standard della zona di loch Ness e soprattutto tenendo in considerazione il fatto che abbiamo viaggiato ad agosto, quindi in alta stagione. Se tornerò in questa zona è probabile che prenoti in questo hotel.

We stopped at this B&B for one night while exploring Scottish Highlands. There was already something rather intriguing and attractive about this place as we got there and parked our car - and it certainly didn’t let us down! The accommodation (The Chieftain room :-)) was simply great, situated over two floors/mezzanine; with some eye-pleasing (and mind-pleasing) features, such as original coat hooks or old maps. We had a supper at their cosy pub as well - of a superb quality and plenty of it! The owner was lovely to talk to and very helpful. Thank you - we will be back ...

N'ayant pas trouvé d'hébergement vers Firt Augustus, nous nous sommes rabattus sur cet Hotel, certes un peu perdu .

Alojamiento en Drumnadrochit, aunque bastante retirado del pueblo. Habitaciones amplias, con bandeja de cortesía (te, chocolate, galleta, etc.), cuarto de baño completo. Hasta ahí todo correcto.

My wife and I stayed here for four nights from the 27th of June

Un lugar muy peculiar poco. La habitación era muy cálido y confortable. . El anexo. . . Extra con fuego. si lo necesitábamos. Buen Suministro de té, café, chocolate caliente, y un montón de, (la mayoría de los hoteles apenas dan alguna). Una gran choc cookie cada demasiado cada día. Cama muy cómoda. . . . Todo muy limpio. Toallas y alfombrillas de baño después de 2 noches. Los propietarios son muy amables y serviciales. Comida recién preparada y abundante. El desayuno sirvió de todo el día. Centro para explorar y agradable estufa en el pub para sentarse al lado después de un día de paseo.

Amable y acogedor, tanto de la anfitriona y la gente. La comida era deliciosa y las porciones generosas. Las habitaciones son peculiares (bueno peculiar), limpia y cómoda, preciosa y tranquila ubicación a recargar las baterías.

Las habitaciones reservadas a través de tarde reservamos una habitación doble con cama doble y cama individual. Llegamos a ser dijeron que no había habitaciones disponibles y me dieron otra habitación pregunté dónde estaba la cama (individual) y me dijeron que todas las habitaciones son...

Nos alojamos durante un fin de semana largo y no queríamos irnos! La habitación era genial (habitación 5) mucho espacio ya que dos niveles! La cama era extremadamente cómoda y los propietarios eran extremadamente amable. La habitación y el baño donde estaban hechas con un buen estándar y un montón de té/café en la habitación. El ser y el ser se encuentra a 100 m de la carretera, así que es muy tranquilo. Cerca de drumnadrochit y a 30 minutos de Inverness. Hay mucho que hacer con un montón en la puerta! La comida es genial y la gente en el bar es muy amable. No puedo esperar a volver para otra estancia!

This place is unique tucked out of the way we stayed just the one night and I'm sure we will treasure the memory for ever, good food good hospitality great setting don't be fooled by first impression look deeper into the character of the place and hope your stay is as good as ours

A colleague and i stayed here overnight as we were passing through. We were late for food but owner knocked up two huge burgers for us...they were amazing. She showed us to our room and took our breakfast order. Breakfast was absolutely amazing and nothing was too much trouble. Great banter with the owners and the room was comfy and clean. Would stay again!

This was a first visit to Scotland and our two night stay was excellent. Everything was immaculately clean, from the bed linen to the cups and saucers in the room to the bathroom and shower, etc and after a long journey it was lovely to be shown the room and how to work the shower, tv, etc.The drinks tray in the room was well stocked (even lovely chocolate brownies) as was the bathroom, the beds were comfortable and nothing was too much trouble.Breakfast was perfect, with all the courses you hope for, cooked just as you requested with coffee and tea in abundance. Nothing was left to chance, everything was catered for.Sheila's knowledge of the area was really helpful and nothing was too much trouble.All in all, I would definitely recommend and will definitely be back!

We stayed here for two nights in May. We were made to feel very welcome by Sheila, Garry and the regulars in the inn. Our room was spacious and clean - we could not fault it. When we arrived we were not sure what we wanted to do other than view the loch and Sheila gave us so many ideas we managed to fill every second of our visit!

Pasamos una noche estupenda, los dueños son encantadores, se preocupan por explicarte todo a la perfección, nos gustó tanto el buen rollo que incluso cenamos allí, la comida estaba muy buena y a un precio más que asequible; nuestra habitación era triple, con la cama de matrimonio en una buhardilla con una ventana en el techo, todo limpísimo, el baño nuevo, la cama muy cómoda, servicio de té y café con unos pastelitos, aparato de calefacción novísimo y wifi gratis; el desayuno también estuvo genial (nos debió ver cara de españoles porque nos ofreció servirlo más tarde de la hora estipulada).En resumen, una maravilla, enclave perfecto para olvidarse de todo y un trato exquisito por parte de los dueños, Bosé puede pedir más.

My wife and I found the entire 9 night stay most comfortable with excellent food and service. Sheila and Garry do everything possible to make you most welcome.We would have no hesitation in booking again.Thanks

Very much enjoyed my one night stay here. What a refreshing change to be shown the room and how everything worked rather than just being left to it. Accommodation was very comfortable and spatious. Breakfast was excellent, I shall definitely come back here as it felt very welcoming.

We attempted to get food down the road at fiddlers but were told that they were too busy. Had a quick look on here and found this place. So glad we did! The owners were lovely, very friendly and welcoming. Food was great value and lovely. We liked it so much we went back again! Lots of choice on the menu.

Straightforward good food made from fresh, takes a little time because of that but I think it's worth the wait. It very reasonably priced at a little over £20 per couple with sides and drinks. Great place to get some local info too with maps on the wall, leaflets and a well informed owner. Toasties on cold day too with a nice log burner.

We booked in for a night, after visiting nearby Glen Affric. The food was very reasonably priced and great quality - I had a venison and goats' cheese burger, followed by home made sticky toffee pudding, which was absolutely amazing. Breakfast was also excellent and featured lots of fruit, as well as the cooked items (including smoked salmon!) We were the only people dining, so don't expect a lively atmosphere, but after a day's travelling and walking it was just what we needed. The room was interesting - split over two levels, but with an amazing bathroom - a great combination of traditional and modern. A great price too so definitely worth a stay!

We were disappointed by our first evening meal near Lochness which although filled hungry tummies was little more than fried up freezer food and not the fresh traditional meal we were expecting.

We had pizza and a chicken dinner which were both tasty and affordable. The breakfast was really good.

A bit dark and gloomy inside, kids got a little bored whilst waiting for food as the owner cooks the food himself. Food was nice but very plain. Owners very friendly once inside. Would benefit from a little revamp

Externally the building does not initially look like an eatery. Once inside it was warm and welcoming. The landlady prepares all the food herself with fresh ingredients and is not shy with the portions. Very tasty food and nice atmosphere. Highly recommended.

This place is a hidden gem! The food is really nice and reasonably priced. There's 2 rooms, a lovely "restaurant" part at the back and a pub at the front.I believe the lady can drive you home after if you've had one too many but we just walked "home" as we were at Bearnock Cottages and Log Cabins just a mile away.

Stopped here for lunch on our way up to Inverness. A bit off the beaten track about 6 miles from drumnadrochit and off the main road. Building still in progress of being renovated but in reasonable order. Typical pub food at reasonable prices for the area. Hosts very friendly, worth a visit.

Stopped at this place after looking in a local information guide whilst on holiday in the area.It's quite easy to drive past the inn as it isn't situated by the roadside, instead you have to drive up a track to reach it's location.Admittedly if you are the type of person who goes off first impressions you'd take one look at the exterior of this place and turn around. However, we aren't so parked up and entered the inn. Therefore, may suggest some work on the exterior of the building to give it a more appealing appearance.The inns interior does seem a tad dated, but again with some work this could soon be rectified. Only one of our party visited the toilet at the inn, they commented these were in need of a lot of attention.We have no negative comments at all about the staff in The Steading Country Inn. They were friendly, attentive and their service was prompt.The food we were served at the inn was very tasty, but we felt that the portion sizes of the meals were far too large. None of us could finish our meal, no matter how good it tasted.If the inn reduced their portion sizes it would benefit them, due to reduced food wastage and diners may manage to have more courses.In our opinion, if the points mentioned above were addressed the staff would gain the benefits their friendliness deserves.
