went here for tea and every main starts about £16 lovely fiery meat feast pizza with pulled pork service was great and young staff were really helpful nice refurb

Stayed here as 5 min drive to the airport. Food wasn't available while we was staying but that wasn't an issue as we had eaten beforehand. Sat in the bar with a few locals nice atmosphere. Nice little room for one night stay, very clean and had everything you need. We left at 4am for the airport and was easy enough to check out.

I have emailed this establishment prior to this review as I don't believe in slating small businesses publicly. I just wanted our experience to be acknowledged and an apology given, however they didn't respond so therefore I am leaving this review. This was our first visit and our last! Wine was nice, well chosen Starters were just OK, bread and oil, you can't go much wrong with that. Garlic mushrooms on bread, my husband said that the mushrooms were nice but the bread was untoasted and had gone soggy from the gloopy sauce. Now are main issues. Husband ordered medium rare ribeye, what came out of the kitchen was the dryest, overcooked piece of steak I've ever seen. Huge amount of fat rind and it was priced at £27!!! It was sent back and I received my red Thai king prawn dish. I picked the prawns off the top and when my husband asked why I wasn't eating I told hum the rice was inedible. The rice was just a lump of mushy starch. He called the waitress over and sent my meal back to the kitchen. The kitchen is divided by a glass screen and when the waitress took the dish back we heard her shout at the top of her voice "we've had a complaint" how embarrassing! By this time we'd had enough and informed the waitress that we were cancelling our meals and we would pay for what we'd had. We paid for the wine, two starters and my husband was charged for the prawns I'd picked off the top of my dish, which I thought was rather petty For the reasons above we will never return or recommend this restaurant

We booked a double room with single beds for our stay as we were attending the concert at Yorkshire Wildlife Park from Barnsley. The room was beautifully modern, spotlessly clean and very roomy. The beds were super comfortable, so much so that we were tempted to stay another night but couldn't because of home commitments. The locals were friendly and helped us to find a taxi and the bar staff let us get cash back without hesitation as they didn't have a cash machine. What I most liked is that despite the pub being still pretty full when we got back from the concert and music was playing somewhere down the road, you couldn't hear a thing when inside the room. We didn't get chance to eat in the pub but it smelled delicious and the menu in our room had lots of choice. We will definitely be looking to stay again even just for a little night away and to enjoy the pub food. The price for the night was very reasonable too considering the quality of the room and hospitality. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We had our first visit to this place Saturday lunchtime,very quiet at the time we arrived. The deco o the restaurant is nice and fresh. Food good I had a fish and chip's wich was nice and crispy, my wife had a gamon with a big salad ( carb watching) my boy had an adult burger and was massive. The only think they forgott the mushy peas on my fish and I couldn't get the attention of any stuff member in order to have it,but not big deal. Over all we enjoyed the good and athnosfere we will defenely raccomand and go back.

I was torn between an average and very good rating… so let’s just go for good. We had a big family meal last night, 9 of us all together. We were seated promptly by lovely staff and drinks and food arrived quickly. I had the belly pork and it was delicious! Really really tasty. Everyone was happy with their meal but unfortunately we had to send the burgers back due to them being very under cooked. The staff were apologetic and professional and brought new burgers out once ready. They were also good enough to knock the price of the burgers off the bill. Overall it was a good evening and a lovely pub. Much better now it’s been taken over by new owners. Definitely worth a visit

Food was excellent and such great value We have tempura prawns prawn and avocado salad garlic mushrooms on toast bread and oils and the most delicious garlic bread. Booked a table for 4 a month ago online... to arrive n be told there has been no food since fathers day... despite having a confirmed email booking and recent reminder by email.. Barmaid was unhelpful and dismissive and unapologetic that there system was still actively accepting bookings.

We visited the Station recently on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The decor is very impressive with polite friendly staff. Good choices of drinks. We wanted to pop outside to the beer garden but you had to walk through some groups of drunken lads to get there who were slightly blocking the door. These lads got louder and louder screaming and chanting racist tunes. At no point did they pipe down nor did we see any staff members go and have a word. This was really off putting. We were going to eat but didn’t bother after reading the menu. The prices were a bit more expensive, which we don’t mind if it is worth it, but the meals weren’t described as well as they could be. £15 for bangers and mash, when it doesn’t say where the sausage is from would be one example. We ended up going elsewhere in the end.

Exceptional Christmas Day lunch. Everything was beautiful New manager doing a great job. Didn’t get her name but def on it and was running like a well oiled machine. I have many years experience in hospitality and we are very lucky to have this place on our doorstep so a very restful Christmas Day it was for me. Well done guys great job

Lovely ambience, always busy when I have visited , drinks are very reasonable priced , food is good ,but often they don’t have everything available, pizza and procecco nights are fantastic value for money .

The place itself is quite nice. More than can be said for the food. No vegetarian meals available other than pizza which our vegetarian friend didn’t want but had no choice but to order. The rest of the meals were just about average. What was most annoying was when we rang to book nobody told us that if we wanted anything from the Christmas menu we had to book in advance! So we were down to a very limited choice. Maybe why the place was almost deserted the week before Christmas. This could be a great place with a bit better organisation!

The worst meal I have ever had. The staff were unhelpful and rude. The on line menu was totally different to the menu we were faced with when we arrived for our meal. The on line menu contained 5 Vegetarian options and there was only one main vegetarian dish and two Pizzas on the menu we were given. The service was really slow even though the restaurant was not busy for a Saturday night. Not once were we asked how our meal was. At the bottom of the menu it stated that there were Vegan options. When asked about this we were told there wasn’t any.

Amazing! I visited on Saturday and could not make my mind up which dish I wanted off the menu so ordered two instead & wow they didn’t disappoint.

We pre-booked a table for 4 of us and was initially very impresses by the visual look of the place as it was really nice. We sat down and was given menus to choose our Sunday lunch. 5 minutes later we were asked for our order to then be informed that they had ran out of one of our choices. I chose something else to be told that had ran out too. This information should have been shared when the menus were provided. After a 45 minute wait my partners ‘rate’ beef was basically raw and blood was pouring out and potatoes were chewy and the whole of all of our 4 meals were very poor quality. We also ordered extra sides which took 5 minutes after the maids arriving to arrive. Very disappointed.

Called in at 3pm Saturday afternoon and were told we could sit anywhere as we were the only ones eating. Lots of things on the menu weren't available until after 4.30. We ordered a mixed grill and steak pie, after a half hour wait they arrived. Neither meal was particularly hot, the mashed potato and mushy peas were lukewarm with a skin forming as they'd obviously been sat waiting for the pie to cook. All the meat was lovely and well cooked however both meals were spoiled by being completely over salted. We ordered desserts and waited again. The apple and elderflower crumble turned out to be a cocktail glass half filled with cold custard, 4 very thin slices of uncooked apple and sprinkled with what I can only describe as a tough, hard granola breakfast cereal. It was a shame because the decor inside the pub is lovely, but the food is overpriced and definitely not worth going back for a second time.

Everything from the food to the service has been flawless from start to finish. The bar staff are friendly, the chefs are incredible, the waiters and waitresses are always happy to help, and the manager - Nick - could not be more accommodating. I can’t imagine a way that this place could improve itself. I’d recommend this place to anyone and everyone.

After a refurb and reintroducing the food service in January we have been a number of times either for just a drink in the friendly bar, a fresh pizza or a full table service menu.

Great foodie pub, with exceptional service. Nick was especially helpful, well done we were both very impressed.

I came to the station today for a Sunday dinner and it was absolutely fantastic! The service is 10/10 as usual and the staff are so friendly! The food was absolutely out of this world and the beef was cooked to perfection. I would 100% recommend that you pay the station a visit and try their exceptionally fantastic food for yourself! Well done to this fine establishment, we will be back again soon!

The food is just basic pub grub which was disappointing after we were so impressed with the gorgeous decor. Uninspired menu, dated meal presentation, however the onion rings were superb. Staff friendly, prices for lunch reasonable, but personally we would rather pay a bit more and be wowed.

After hearing varied reviews about The Station, we decided to see it for ourselves.

The decor is certainly an improvement. I like a nice beer, sadly all I could see was fizzy stuff.

I went to the station for a meal with my sister, we had an average meal but 15 minutes after finishing our meal ww were asked if we would move to another seated area. This was at 8.30 in the evening with no other customer eating so there was no reason to move us from are private conversation into an area full off people. The lady that asked us to move and served us was rude to say the very least with zero customer service skills!!

On Sunday I visited, with 5 other friends, the Fest at the Station. On arrival there was someone sat at a table by the entrance. She asked for £5.00 each (no entrance fee was stated on the advertising board). One of my friends asked what we got for the fiver, she said nothing. At that point we decided to all go to the Harvey Arms.

Arrived at pub for mums birthday starters OK but then had to wait 45 min for main course. I had red mullet overcooked husband had fish and chips massive but bigger is not always better over cooked again. The waitress not interested for another piece if red mullet but she just said crack in for now with the remainder of your meal. Not impressed won't be back such a shame waitress never even asked us about our meal. The pub just been refurbished such a shame the food not up to scratch

This was a really disappointing visit. The place looks great, very nicely done out, but the food and service was a major let down. We ordered 4 pizzas and 1 Fish n Chips, plus some olives.

Refurbishment recently completed still lacks some authenticity. Understand the original chef has packed up and left. Staff require some training and the food quality requires some consistency. I don’t think the current staff know what’s required I hope they get it together soon.

So looking forward to our local pub to re-open to go somewhere for tea or a drink without having to travel.

Went for Sunday lunch yesterday - dreadful food.If there are only 6 things to choose from you would expect them to be able to provide them all. Dreadful roast beef, soggy yorkshire pudding and the roast potatoes looked as if they were days old. Chose fish fingers from the childrens menu, but got battered cod bites instead (not what a 2 year old wanted!) How can you not have childrens fish fingers in the freezer. Will not go again.

Fantastic staff, lovely friendly greeting and seated quickly. Our waitresses couldn't do enough. Loved my 'surprise' cider!

Stumbled across this pub when looking for a new place to eat and I must say the food is amazing, the staff are friendly and polite and the whole place has a great atmosphere. The Station has now become one of our favourite place to visit and can not recommend it enough. Make sure you try the cocktails.

Had been told about this place so thought we would go out of our way to visit.

Although we rang before we arrived we were assured they could accommodate a party of 10, 7 adults 2 children and a baby we were told there were plenty of tables. When we arrived they said they couldn’t serve us as the chef was too busy and it would be too much work even though there were clearly lots of empty tables, when we explained we had rung to book in they suggested we had maybe rung the wrong number, we suggested that we split our group down into 2 tables but was told that wasn’t an option either. My husband and I went to the bar to get a drink while we decided what to do and a group of 5 walked in and were given a table followed closely by a couple who also got a table. At that point we left as I felt that if they didn’t want to serve us food we weren’t going to buy their drink we were very offended that they refused us a table and have no idea why they did so but we will never return and will not recommend the place at all

We visited here midweek after being recommended it. As you drive up the pub looks so inviting, and it doesn’t disappoint when you walk inside too. The decor is lovely and makes it such a nice atmosphere. The place was pretty much empty except for the 3 of us and then a table of around 10 people. Our food took over 45 minutes to come but a lady apologised and said they’d had a big order before us. I understand this but there was only that table and us in the whole restaurant. Food was really nice! I would definitely go back but i think it needs a few tweaks in regards to the service. Young waitresses seem like they haven’t had the proper training and just missing a little something.

I went for food with my family of three in which is was busy although no waitresses was taking orders from everyone that was waiting took an hour an half for our drinks to come to us and at least 45 minutes until we was served for our food orders in which we was waiting an hour and 45 mins for our food to get to us. My friend was there at the time with her daughter and left due to the wait and the man behind the bar was pointing at them both whilst laughing in which i think is disgusting behaviour. Whilst waiting the staff were just stood around doing nothing when clearly there was a lot of people waiting at the tables, very very slow service in which is disappointing as the place it’s self is beautifully decorated but I suggest getting entirely new front of floor staff due the lack of experinace and the lack of respect from the middle age front of floor staff.

We had been told that the new Station was worth a visit so we called in for a nosy and a drink! Ended up staying for the prosecco and pizzas deal! It's fabulous guys! How they do this I don't know but we had 2 fantastic meat feast pizzas (tailored to his spicy needs and my non spicy needs) and a bottle of prosecco for £22.95 and it was, in his words, phenomenal!! Thanks to all who served us and the guy at the bar who recommended it!

Manager is too busy trying to impress the female bar staff rather than tending to customer needs. Not professional at all. Done a lot on the inside but are you selling the concept of a Restaurant or a Pub? Restaurant's don't have mobs cavorting and carrying on and shouting at one end and Pub's should not put up TV's and show football if they are then going to complain about the noise when somebody scores. For a refurbed pub the glasses were not very clean at all - need to look at customer service and presentation. To summarise, overpriced for the poor standard

We booked a table for lunch to support a newly refurbished / opened local eatery. The place looks great and lots of efforts have been put in the decor and general atmosphere.

The place is new and looks good!, 35 min wait for food!,not all options were available!, the staff and manager need a lot of training!,lots of wrong orders, and orders being lost, long waits all round!, asked for a cappuccino, got an expresso!, then the manager said he'd sort it, he took the drink into the kitchen, said the milk had run out in the machine, and was going to fill it up in there, it turned up and was just warm!, told him it wasn't hot, he took it away and told the staff behind the bar to make one, before it came he came back with another expresso!, I said I wanted a cappuccino, he said I know!, I said why had he brought me expresso!, he was confused, finally got my drink, lots of complaints by other dineres by then,his excuse was it's a new business, we're ironing out the wrinkles, I'll give it a miss for a year until they get there act together.

Booked a table on a Sunday afternoon - arrived and were given an extensive menu. Only when ordering were we told that only one page of this menu was available on a Sunday (it would also have been nice to have been given this information at the start, or when we booked...)

Visited here with family. The whole place is lovely, immaculately clean and the staff are all very friendly and welcoming. The manager Ricky really went out of his way to please and my niece Emily loved it and Ricky even made her feel special and even lit her a candle for princess Emily, lovely little touch! Will definitely return and would not hesitate to recommend to anyone! Well done with the refurb! I had the Risotto which was lovely and my niece had the pizza, the food was all amazing! Nicest place I have visited in a well, compliments to the chef!

We called in here last Sunday 3rd March for Sunday lunch and was not disappointed, it has been done out to a very high standard, my husband and I both had roast beef and again we were not disappointed it was lovely.

Dropped in to this awesome renovated pub. Wow. Awesome decor with brilliant welcoming feeling. I was served by Ricky the new manager. Top bloke. Real passionate about what he does.

Fantastic decor, excellent friendly staff, lovely cozy snug area, this pub has a lot of potential when the full menu comes out which we can’t wait for. The pizzas are amazing, all stonebaked and just melt in your mouth.

Full menu not available till February. So ordered Pizzas and to be honest they were perfect. The decor is really tasteful and the staff very attentive and friendly. Definitely will go again.

My wife and friends went on an evening for a few drinks and ended up having a pizza and a sharing platter. We were very impressed with the food and the service.

Our first visit since the reopening of this pub. What a massive improvement, if you ever visited the ‘old Station Pub’ then you are in for a big surprise. The new owners have completely turned an old run down pub into a modern warm welcoming establishment. The moment you walk through the front door you now walk into a pub that feels and look welcoming, the bar staff were very friendly and professional offering good polite service. A bright modern and spacious bar area, gone is any sense of the old place. Divided into three main areas to accommodate dining, a more formal area to relax and enjoy a pint and a public bar area where you can relax and watch sports on a good size tv. A good range and selection of beers, lagers and spirits on offer but at the moment you can only order a small selection of bar meals. We had the sharing ploughman’s plater for two which although I thought was a bit pricey at £16 for what you got it was well presented and very tasty I would have it again as I feel it’s important to support your local pubs. I can’t wait until they have a full menu on offer as this will add to the appeal of this establishment. Moving forward as the pub is developing I would hope to see a full menu, bear garden a children’s play area. The future for this pub can only get better and its reputation will grow. Congratulations to the new owners and staff you have definitely got this pub right.
