We stopped off here on a bike ride. The service was fantastic and the food very tasty. There was an error with our order but they were so apologetic and gave us a complimentary piece of cake. That’s exactly how it should be done when a problem occurs, so thank you! Highly recommend.

We visited for a roast dinner after a delightful local walk and had a splendid experience. The meat (I had the pork, partner had beef) was of exceptional quality and cooked to perfection. The staff were remarkably friendly and attentive, even on what appeared to be a very busy Sunday. Would recommend, will be back.

We booked as a dog friendly meal however when we arrived were firmly told their policy was they did not allow dogs in doors . They were only dog friendly if we chose to eat out in the cold. We did not. We went to Burly. We had a choice of dog friendly pub nice and cosy and tea rooms dog friendly and cafe dog friendly. Meaning they all welcomed us and our well behaved puppy.

I love this place. The food is always amazing, especially the lemon meringues, I order these first so its put to one side whilst I eat my dinner. I am vegetarian and there are always lots of choices. We took our friends here and one is gluten free, it was such a lovely surprise to be offered a separate gluten free menu. Our friend was overjoyed as its not always something she gets. This is a hidden gem

We came upon these lovely tea rooms by accident but are so pleased we did find it as it was a gem. It’s in a lovely quiet setting just off the A35 by Burley and has been well looked after and brought up to date in a sympathetic way so it still looks like a station. We were greeted by Claire who looked after us very well and all the staff were friendly. They have a small gift shop as you walk in with a cafe and plenty of tables in the next room. They had meringues in the cafe with the topping looking like the points on a crown they were so tall and lots of other delicious looking homemade muffins and cakes etc. The menu is varied with something to suit most people and drinks include wine as well as a good range of soft drinks and tea/coffee all at reasonable prices. I had a jacket potato full of cottage cheese, topped with 2 large slices of smoked salmon and a small side salad. I’d never seen that anywhere else. My husband had a bacon and egg sandwich on granary bread which was delicious. The chips looked lovely but we didn’t have any. It’s well worth a visit if you’re passing.

Having visited the Holmsley Old Station Tea Rooms a few years ago, we didn’t know quite what to expect post-Covid. Could it still be running even, or closed - but not by Dr Beeching this time? To our delight it certainly is open and is really thriving in fact! We called in for morning coffee with tea cakes and one of the many delicious shortbreads and were delighted: the service was brilliant (by all the attentive, friendly, staff) and the cost was very reasonable. We wanted to find out a bit more about the Castleman Corkscrew railway line which passed right alongside Holmsley Station until it was closed by Dr B in 1964. One of the helpful staff showed us a map of the line and, as we left, we explored what is left of the station platform (see photo). A lovely morning out - and quite near Burley, a favourite village in the New Forest.

I could go on about the original features and the friendly staff but you want to know how good the bacon sandwiches are. We'll, they're excellent, best I've had. Thick, smokey rashers that know they've been in a pan, in 2 decent slices of granary loaf. Gluten free options, too. Only wish I'd had room for their cakes. Walk it all off with a stroll down the disused track bed. Marvellous.

We have visited this tea room for many many years and it has always delivered with regard to service, surroundings and food! The scones are amazing snd always our first choice, until now! The ‘special’ was a fish finger sandwich. Possibly the best fish finger sandwich I’ve ever tasted, mainly as a result of the accompanying tartare sauce. Don’t be swayed by all the delicious cakes and pastries - the savoury dishes are equally impressive. As always, great and friendly service!

Poorest meal at this place in the last few years. What's gone wrong with the place? Cooked to death jacket spud but it still came out barely warm. Spoonful of beans reheated so like glue. Rasher of bacon like cardboard. Limp mico salad. All very salty. What the wife had was a lite better. Coffee was great. If we had time to go elsewhere that was dog friendly we would have done.

I booked ahead and we were shown to a table inside. There is plenty of seating outside and inside. We ordered two afternoon tea's and they were delicious. There are different options for sandwiches, scones and cake or pattiserie. I had a savoury scone with chutney and cream cheese, which proved to be delicious and lemon meringue pie which was both very lemony and fluffy! Definitely go when you are hungry as it's not your average afternoon tea. The staff were polite and attentive. I can't wait to go back for lunch!

We were shown to a table and left with menus (it was 3pm so we only wanted a cup of tea and a slice of cake each). The young girl disappeared to chat to her colleagues and it was a full 20 mins before she came back to take our order. We asked for 2 teas and said we would like a slice of cake each. We took a punt as there are no prices on the menu for cake or anywhere we could see. Now you need to know the cakes are not properly displayed and you cannot see them all and they are in another room. You would think the young lady would be able to tell us which cakes were available at this point, but no. We guessed chocolate cake (a staple of any decent tea room) and were told they didn't have any. Still no alternatives offered. I had seen a lemon cake on the front of the counter on the way in, so we smiled sweetly and said lemon cake then please and off she trotted. More leaning on the counter and chatting to the 3 other servers ensued, and finally nearly another 25 mins later our order arrived. The tea was nice and piping hot but the cake tasted factory made and like it had been defrosted. Not great at all and repeated on us all evening. Being typical Brits we smiled sweetly and went to the till and paid. Be warned here, they refuse cash, it is card only, there may be signs to say this but we didn't see any. I tapped my card and paid the steep £15 for the teas and rubbish cake and left. The girl who took our payment (not our server) looked at me quite snottily for not leaving a tip. I always tip wherever I go, but there was no way I was going to tip that terrible service, and hey, they don't take cash, right? I am local but never tried here before, and I shall warn everyone I know to stay away unless they want their time and money wasted.

Visited here in 2015 , but not as good now. They were short staffed and so there was quite a wait , although the staff that were there worked very hard. You order from a hatch so are given the drinks but then have to wait for your food. The homemade vegetable soup was delicious as was the Dorset apple cake. However the scones were dry and not a typical scone mixture , more like a cake . Coming from Devon these were not what we expected, although the clotted cream was superb. The cream tea at £9.50 for two scones is top end of what we would expect to pay especially as the scones were not fresh that day. Would visit again but would avoid the scones. Bentley our dog did enjoy his doggy treats

There was a sign outside saying they were short of staff so times may be a little longer, but I couldn’t have been more impressed by the staff that were working. Our waitress was red in the face as she was so hot rushing around serving everyone with a smile and a friendly manner. I couldn’t take my eyes off her manager who was also doing the work of about 3 people quickly and efficiently and occasionally running! They were under pressure the whole time but always took the time to answer us and give us the personal touch. They forgot a sandwich which we had to wait for but couldn’t have been more apologetic and automatically took it off the bill without us mentioning it. They looked like they loved their jobs and wanted to be there, very refreshing! The fruit scone was huge and warm and perfect too Well done!

Arriving at half one, it was packed outside - less so inside where we had a booking - but we moved outside due to our dogs. They seemed slightly surprised by how busy it was and kitchen service was slow. Menu looked great - rarebit looked lovely. But we were there for cream teas which we’d read were great. They weren’t, unfortunately. Cold scones that were dry and too big for the cream and jam accompanying them. Afternoon tea people got them warmed up (slightly). Cakes and sandwiches good and cheese scone good too. But I wouldn’t have the cream tea there again. Such a shame - an ideal location for a long flat walk/ride along the track.

I usually love this venue but I'm afraid at the moment they are not hitting the spot. Like most venues, The Holmsley has attempted to adapt their service to allow for Distancing etc. But I suggest they need to look at this again. All customers, wherever seated, have to use hatch service usually for outside diners only. Service here has always been slow so now, predictably, its dreadfully slow. While the food was fine, the service was distinctly average and certainly didn't 'wow' us! The cheese scone was served with a cream cheese, which while pleasant enough didn't really enhance the scone, which perhaps could have been better served warm.

Quality of good. Tea was OK. Sandwiches took a while to arrive but fresh so fine. Place could do with money spent on it- benches outside have peeling paint and seen better days. Good visit but wasn't wowed.

Hired a bicycle from burley but had to leave a bank card as security due to not having my driving licence with me.We rode down to the castleway trail to the station tearooms, and as you can guess after ordering they didn’t take cash, think it was six pound fifty. We were offered by the manager to pay on his card if we had the correct change. We only had a ten pound note. The nice owner did offer to pay on his card and just call it ten pounds for a six fifty sale nice man.So we just rode on to brokenhurst.

Again we are never disappointed, travelled over 100 miles for an afternoon tea, sure there are places closer to us but The Old Station Tea Rooms never disappoint. Sandwiches were really fresh and tasty, Scones & cream, delicious, All Covid measures in place, a word about our Waitress, she was an absolute charmer, so enthusiastic and a real attribute to the business, unfortunately we didn't get her name but she's going to go to Goldsmiths to study English, I'm sure she'll sail through & enjoy a great career in TV & Films.

We visited for the first time having seen good reviews. The food was below average and not well presented, and the worst thing was the service. Our waitress sat down at the table behind us and began eating with her family who had come in after us. she then got up, cleaned her table and left. We were left for 45 minutes after eating, waiting for our plates to be cleared. In this time another family that had been seated got up and left due to being ignored, like us, by the staff. In the end we had to ask for our bill, to then be told that a 12.5% service charge had been added, which we obviously declined.

We stopped here for an impromptu lunch before going for a walk in the New Forest. We were worried we wouldn't be able to get a table inside as there were number of people eating outside, but luckily the staff had a table spare. Staff were attentive and accommodating - particularly for a 4 year old who wanted their sandwich toasted! Very good quality bread, wish we'd had room for a cake too!

We were walking the old railway line and stopped here for lunch. I had a delicious tuna mayo thick cut sandwich and my partner had rarebit. Both very delicious. The coffe was good, the dessert scrumptious. You should see the afternoon tea, it looks awesome ...next time. The lemon meringue pie was delicious with a huge stack of meringue. We were not hurried, we did book and I would recommend. Their is what I would call typical tea house fare.Very enjoyable

Had lunch here today with my daughter. We sat outside and used the telephone method to order our food and drinks. Staff were very efficient and friendly and the food was excellent. Although they were busy we didn’t have to wait a long time. Covid regulations were adhered to and we felt very safe. Thank you for an enjoyable visit. We will return soon.

A recent visit as part of a New Forest short break - arrived late morning and enjoyed a welcome sandwich and drink. The food was lovely and fresh, the drinks excellent and all were delivered to our table in a reasonable time, by pleasant and welcoming staff. There are Covid measures in place, but this involves scanning an App, calling a number and then taking a call by return to place your order - feels a bit complicated compared to other sites, but it complies with guidance, which is the main thing.

We arrived a little to late for breakfast service and a a little to early for main meal service, so opted for tea and sandwiches, they were delicious, bacon & brie with cranberry sauce.... lovely. Good service and COVID procedures being observed.

We had to sit outside and order from our tables by phone. This was obviously COVID friendly but a few people were getting impatient. The food was nice but the service could have been better. A good spot for some lunch or a cream tea.

Stopped here for coffee on a bike ride. Location is good, away from the main towns in the New Forest so less likely to be crazy busy. Spare tables mid-morning yesterday. Well set up for Covid precautions - QR code on the table to read the menu and a number to call to place your order which they then bring out. Coffee in single-use cups at the moment. Cakes and scones looked amazing. Very clean toilets accessible directly from car park so you don't have to go through the main building. Plenty of car/bike parking space.

We stopped at the tea room during a cycle ride. We sat outside and although it looked busy we managed to find a seat. Ordered at a counter and food brought to the table, very organised. We had welsh rarebit, which was tasty and a cream tea. The scones were huge and warm. There was a generous portion of jam and cream, absolutely delicious.

Took in this tea room on one of our New Forest walks with friends.Stopped half way for a cream tea which was delicious. Fresh, large fruit scone and slightly warmed. A generous amount of clotted cream and jam of your choice. Served in the gardens. Very busy which is a good sign! Plenty of seating available. All covid precautions were in place and service was excellent and very friendly staff. Will definitely go back. Well done!

The cream teas were microwaved, and too hot to eat. They were replaced with cooler ones. I think they are microwaved from frozen. The taste was dreadful we left them and just drank the tea which was ok.

We were recently staying in Burley for a family holiday and kept passing these Tearooms. We decided to pop in here one afternoon after a long walk with the dog. Great cream tea. Warm Fresh Scones, Clotted Cream and choice of Tiptree Jam. Had to drink from paper cups and eat out of a cardboard lunchbox due to COVID-19, but still had a great time. Dog friendly. Would recommend.

I used to enjoy this T room until now...I had the full English at just under a tenner...oh my god when I see the waitress walking over with a box I though it was for the dog!!Everything was in a disposable box, inc the knife & fork made out of a new forest tree, absolute plop and no other way to describe it, the only thing they did forget was a disposable suit so I could have worn it and disposed of myself without paying for such muck.Sad but I shall give this place a miss from now on until all the trees are cut down and they are forced into using plates and steel cutlery again...avoid this place like covo 19!!

Freshly made sandwiches and tasty cream tea. The fruit scones were warm, big and very tasty. Sandwiches were made from lovely thick bread and full of filling. You queue outside and everyting is brought to your table in disposal boxes. Would definitely recommend.

Whilst on a camping holiday during July this year, we went out for a bike ride and ended up at this lovely place. We sat outside on the benches and picnic tables. All the social distancing rules were applied too and adhered. Everything was cleaned after a group left.We decided to have the cream teas. They come out in their own individual boxes and the tea/coffee in fully compostable cups and lids. The cutlery supplied with the cream tea were again all fully compostable and recyclable. The jam was in a glass jar and the cream in a little compostable dish. The scones were lovely and warm. Had a lovely cream tea here and would definitely visit again when we are down in that area again.

Found this place online before our visit to New Forest and did not disappoint. We were lucky to find a parking space as it was a sunny busy day, but found a table easily. Lots of outdoor seating all set up with Covid measures in mind. Simple ordering system and our coffees and scones were delivered quickly. The coffee was great and the scone was big and warm with a choice of jam and cream. Enjoyed our stopp pff here and would recommend.

Truly awful - and no suitable toilets. The food we were served was below average, the coffees were unfortunately not good at all. The service from the woman running the cafe was disgraceful. She seemed off from the outset, and was downright rude in the end after one of our group was reduced to tears by her behaviour. Most importantly the toilet was not suitable for visitors to use, you have to squeeze through the kitchen which is open to the seating area to get to the toilet, which is extremely close to where food is being prepared and completely inaccessible for anyone with mobility issues. The toilet door did not shut, so the woman who runs the cafe had to slam shut another door in order for there to be any privacy (and any level of hygiene), which then resulted in one of our party being trapped inside the toilet unable to get out. When another member of our party was eventually able to force the door open from the outside and the person who was trapped was understandably shaken at the experience, the women running the cafe had the nerve to tell her to calm down, and then denied having said anything at all. All in all it was a horrendous experience, no redeeming features - this unfortunate situation could have been helped with a kind manner but instead was made much worse. Avoid. We will be making a formal complaint to the food standards agency. A bizarre and upsetting experience!

En route back from Southampton we broke our train journey home @ Brockenhurst and dropped into the Forresters for a couple of drinks - Saturday evening husell and bussel - a busy local with atmosphere - great for a drink and being near to station was really handy.
