The Starman in City of London, Westminster

We grabbed an outside table under the heaters and enjoyed the time we spent here. It's a smart pub/bar, on a nice little back street from the main drag. Only slight down point is that I was getting a bit of a weird vibe off the bouncers that showed up at around 5pm. Not that anything in particular happened, jus he vibes!

Nice place but trading heavily on the David Bowie connection. Without that it's a pretty ordinary bar and there are better ones just a few minutes walk away.

If you are looking for a vibrant/high energy pub in a quiet late night location that is located just a block or two from "where all the action is," The Starman is an excellent choice. I have stopped by the Starman several times while walking to my hotel after seeing a play in Soho and have always found the staff welcoming, the music playing and the beer cold... what more could you want? Even today, it is hard to find a pub open after 11pm in London... The Starman is an excellent late night choice with a friendly staff and customers that are an ideal mix of locals and tourists from around the globe!

On the plus side the location and ambience is good. Also a great glass of wine and tasty chips. However service was poor with waiters more interested in chatting to each other in a corner of the bar, with little interest in customers. Fish was underdone, and on the second try did not taste fresh.

Cute bar in the fashion district. Service was a little slow and the bathrooms needed some work. Loved the David Bowie theme.

Lovely pub lunch, friendly staff. Basic pub style menu but the food was great - we had fish and chips and a burger. Both were good/freshly cooked. Good price for location. Would come again.

Un pub rustico, che gode della fama della strada lasciata da David Bowie e della sua Starman. Ambiente ampio, un po' freddo, servizio sbrigativo, cucina semplice, porzioni abbondanti: un gigantesco fish&chips, hamburger generosi. Prezzi ragionevoli. Nulla di entusiasmante, ma forse di sera l'atmosfera è più vivace (e rumorosa...).

Really poor all-round, both in terms of staff and food quality. Firstly, let's be clear on this, it is a pub, not a restaurant. Don't come expecting restaurant-quality food. It was barely up to pub-standard in all honesty. Anyway, we had been sitting down for some time, so I went to the bar to order. The guy behind the bar inputted the price of the food and added a service charge to it, which I asked to be removed. This is a pub, not a restaurant. The guy seemed upset by this, saying "They still bring it to the table" amongst other sarcastic comments and a general bad attitude. I politely reminded him that service charge is discretionary and I am standing at the bar placing my order. Perhaps he wants a tip for even talking to me in the first place. If I wasn't with others, I would have just walked out. I was expecting the food to be high standard, considering the place obviously thinks highly of themselves. Instead, very average, warm (it had been sitting on the counter waiting to be brought over for at least a few mins - probably on the insistence of Mr Grumpy Manbun guy). Go elsewhere.
