Tried to find this historical if less than impressive monument. The building where it used to be seems to have been demolished and apparently it has moved to the Museum of London where it can be seen properly.

When you go down the staircase to get to this restaurant you're not quite sure what you're walking into, but it's actually a really neat themed spot. It's got a Gothic vibe with really cool furniture and decor. They have one of the neatest drink menus with drinks named after deadly sins and virtues. We went for lunch and there was a really good lunch special where you could get two dishes for a very reasonable price. The service was good and the bartenders were friendly. You also need to make sure to use the restroom simply because the entry doors are amazing hidden bookcases (picture attached).

This quaint pub is next to the site of the famed (or infamous) London Stone, opposite the Cannon St Tube Station. You descend down from the street to a typical London pub but one with skeletons (it is supposed to be haunted) and nice effects, some dating sites tucked away from the bar, and really nice friendly staff. We had a light lunch and a beer and it was fun. The "English Tapas" tasting dish was great. You will have fun finding the toilets - you'll probably have to ask and when you do find them they are great fun getting into (leave you with the challenge)!

My boyfriend and I noticed it when we first arrived in London but it was only on our last night that we actually managed to give it a try. The kitchen was almost closed so we had yo hurry in placing our orders, but everything was perfect: from the garlic bread to the fish and chips and London sausages to the dessert. My boyfriend tried a Guinnes and says it was average, but the pub was very cute and "weird" (the good kind!) and I can't wait to be in London again to go back there.

There's a good reason why a city pub is 90% empty after work on a Friday evening. Fake goth chain pub, with the worst cocktails I've ever had, in plastic jugs, and bearing no resemblance to what they were supposed to be. Music far too loud to have a conversation. Glad we were able to leave quickly.

It is located directly opposite Cannon St Station, you go down some narrow stairs and are then faced with the bar and the 'gothic style theme' very nicely done. Bored with the usual trendy bars or historic old London pubs? Then try this one which goes for a Gothic and ghouls theme. Not very big once you get downstairs but do love the effort here to create something different. Like the raised section similar to a Pulpit in a church with cosy tables and the book case doors to the toilets. Music plays a bit loud for me. Should be organ music with horror sfx to add to the atmosphere. Selection of ales were good. Food very average but maybe as it was late in the evening so may be ok generally. Nice girls behind bar made us welcome.

I'd previously been to the sister pub in Edinburgh and witnessed the Frankenstein performance that they do. I've passed London Stone many times and even walked down the steps to see it but never actually stopped for a drink. Fun, gothic decor with the toilets hidden (I won't tell you where, you have to find them) and little bits of fun display items on show. The food is cheap, some were 2 meals for £11. Wetherspoons quality, cheap and cheerful and I enjoyed the chilli. As an archaeologist and having worked in the vicinity i'd heard the story of 'The London Stone' and had hoped there had been a replica but other than that and the fact that there is no performance like in Edinburgh its a great little underground pub where you can hide away in a gothic booth under Canon Street & away from the hustle and bustle. Glad we went!

This is a great quirky pub right opposite Cannon Street station, especially if you like to actually have a chat as the music is not loud enough that you have to shout at eachother, unlike next door in All Bar One. Great place if you just want somewhere to catch up with friends and not spend a fortune. Food and drink reasonably priced, seriously the food is lovely, especially ham, egg and chips and the staff are great. If you are a visitor to London just pop in for a pint just to experience the décor and try and find the toilets as they are behind a hidden door.People who have not rated this pub are not happy people they need to lower their expectations and join us normal folk.

Went here for an early lunch; very quite but we still waited for 45 minutes for food. I had the double burger, my colleague the veggie burrito... that with a coffee and a beer - £25... not too bad for good quality food but this wasn't good quality food - in fact I would go as far as saying this was the worst food I've had in any pub - ever. The veggie "burrito" was wrap with three splodges of colour and a pile of rice; very unappealing and had very suspicious meat looking pieces. The burger - oh dear; I've had MUCH better burgers from MacDonalds - this was an awful cheap, nasty, rubbery patty of "meat" - in fact I would go as far as saying the veggie burrito had more real meat that burger. All I can say is the Guinness was good. For food - avoid like the London Plague...

I work up the road so occasionally go in when I have forgotten lunch. The food is pretty crap to be honest, and you can get much nicer panninis from EAT for a pound or two cheaper. I go because of the free wifi and its a cool atmosphere. They just can't cope with the influx of people, and there is a girl and a chef there who argue constantly - every time I have been in they have been at it! They work hard but it just isn't good. Today I ordered a toasted sandwich which took 35 minutes to come. I watched them carry hot food past me the whole time... surely you would make the sandwich whilst the food is cooking? Its actually not cheap either - all bar one next door is priced similarly and the food is much much nicer, it just gets too busy. Most of the people eating in London Stone are ones that couldn't get a table at all bar one.Since I had to rush my lunch today I burnt my mouth... also I asked for not chips and it came with chips. Its just a preference so I thought fine I'll just leave them. However I also requested no mayonnaise and lo and behold it came with mayonnaise! And I have an egg intolerance so I wasn't happy. Neither is my tummy! They really need to listen because if I had a full blown allergy that could have been really dangerous. I don't know if it was the fault of the chef or the bar staff but not good enough either way.Last time I will ever eat there I'm afraid to say.

Went here with my family for a quick lunch. Was quite impressed with the atmosphere. Quirky and original. However after waiting for an hour for food we started to get frustrated. The order was just toasted sandwhiches and burgers. After speaking to the waitress about this she said she would go and see what had happened. 5 minutes later one meal arrived. The staff seemed unable to gasp the concept we wanted to eat together and told my mum to eat hers without us. About 10 minutes later 2 other meals arrived. Both being cold... We send these back and when they came back they had clearly being microwaved even though the waitress had put her hand on the food! At this point I was still waiting for my lunch and was told I would have to wait 15 minutes and that everyone else should eat theirs. It turned out I only waited 5 minutes but the food was a poor quality even for its cheap price. Upon asking to speak to the manager we were told that we would get a refund and that they were sorry but they were very busy and had a small kitchen. The food was clearly pre prepared and microwaved and there were only two other tables in... all in all very disappointed!

In London for the day, we alighted at Cannon Street Station. Just across the road we spotted the "London Stone" behind a security grill. A few steps further along the London Stone pub can be found. We ventured down the steps and were greeted by an amazing sight. The Gothic atmosphere was realistic but not over the top. There were monsters and gargoyles in niches on the walls and the tables were in alcoves around the room. We ordered our drinks at the bar and asked for the menu. The young lady who served us was very friendly and helped us with our food order. We then found a table and sat down with our drinks. Although it was quite busy we easily found a seat. We ordered pannini with chips, which arrived within 10 minutes, piping hot.The young man who brought our meal was extremely polite and made sure we had all we needed. I went to the bar to order some cocktails and told them about my voucher. They would not accept the voucher as it was not printed. But the voucher is from a phone app (voucher cloud), and that's not meant to be printed! They were very rude to me, and I left and I would never go back to this place. I've also told other colleagues how I was treated, and they won't go there now either. The staff really need to learn how to treat their customers well. I went here with work for lunch on 7th February 2014.I ordered the bacon burger with a portion of onion rings. I wasn't expecting much from the food since I have eaten at many of the gourmet burger restaurants in London and burgers anywhere else just don't compare. However this was well below even my reduced expections because it was very dry and barely edible. Furthermore the onion rings and chips tasted like something you'd make in the oven from the frozen section of a supermarket. What left me most miffed was the prices - £6 for burger and onion rings however this increased to £12.05 with a lager! Naturally I told then to forget about the drink since it was cheaper just to buy it separately. I think the error was due to their computers struggling to process the menu's special offers which makes me wonder how many people have been ripped off in the past due to these errors.Furthermore, don't bother looking at the menu on their website; some of the dishes are not available in the restaurant. The one redeeming factor the bar has is the decor. It is very unique, even for London. I would possibly be back. but probably for after-work drinks, not for food.

Was looking for a gothic themed pub in London after seeing one on an episode of the Undateables. After doing a quick search, this one popped up- I'm pretty sure it's not the one featured in the episode but after looking at the menu, reviews etc it sounded like a cool little place to see. From the outset it looked great, the menu is extremely reasonable and the location is perfect directly opposite Cannon Street station. The decor is fun. On the website it said open till 11pm, food served till 10pm. We turned up there at 7.30pm on a Tuesday, the place was very quiet so we were able to get a table, got two (very watery) cocktails and browsed the extensive menu.Firstly, I went to the bar to order food, the girl who served me said she was in training and didn't know how to handle food orders. Waited for the other girl to finally appear, only to be told the kitchen was closed. Apparently, it had closed at 7. There were no signs ANY WHERE telling us this. Menus were still on the tables, even chalk boards informing us of specials. We finished our cocktails and went to leave, when my boyfriend spotted the "manager" sitting at the bar reading a newspaper. We explained the situation, I said that on the website it clearly states that food is served till 10pm. His reply was:"It's the city, what do you expect? We close at 9".I told him that the website also says open till 11pm.He then said he'd have to get some website people to look at that. Which I doubt he will do as he didn't even apologise and acted like he didn't care.Is that what he would seriously say to tourists? "It's the city?". Anyway we left hungry and annoyed, won't be back.

Went to London Stone with high hopes... and was left quite disapointed. It was quite easy to find from the station, walking down the stairs, we realised were were one of only 3 small groups of people in there.... We found a table that was at the back, and found the table to be very wet, the bar tender said 'Ive just cleaned it...' it was soked... We went to the bar and ordered our drinks, lovely selection of cocktails and the pitchers at just under £10 was brilliant value for money... I had seen on the website that food service stoped at 10pm, we were there by 8:30pm and were told 'oh no that has stoped' So went to sit back down and were aksed to move, as they needed to set up the equiptment for the next night... Which I found a little strange I was told 'its okay for you to move, there are plenty of seats for you to sit in...'All in all i was very disapointed with the service we recieved at London Stone, maybe they were having a bad night maybe they were getting ready for the next night. Ive been to alot of the rock and metal pubs in and around London, but this wasnt the best.

My girlfriend and I happened upon this place last weekend and I loved it. My only caveat is that I hope the owners and regular clientele don't take the horror/gothic theme too seriously because if they do this place runs a very serious risk of being overly prententious. However, providing the tongue remains firmly in cheek this is a fun place for a drink. Picture the standard spooky mansion that the Scooby Gang would investigate whenever the Mystery Machine would invariably break down outside and you're not far off London Stone.
