Free entrance to the museum. The place is amazing and interesting art and history

When I arrived there at 5.15pm, there was barely any savoury food left. I bought a wrap and fresh orange juice, cost over £10. 2nd visit: bought the chocolate cafe with peanut and latte shown in final photo. Cake wasn't as chocolatey as I expected but pleasant. Latte was good but small.

They close at least 30 minutes before the museum closes. Don’t expect a nice drink to talk a little after a nice exhibition if your tickets start at 4pm. That’s silly.

The cafe has a sandwich gluten-free option, which is wrapped and clearly labelled. At nearly £10 it is clearly London prices, but it was fresh and tasted lovely.

After a wonder of the modern art and the Turner Exhibits, we headed down to the basement and the chaotic Cafeteria, where it was all soups and tarts on the menus and the queue was filled with retired civil servants reading their subscription to the Old Vic or the National Trust and tying up the line. The usual order (hot this time) and a seat on the grass outside, was ok, if a little crowded by security guards watching us!The coffee was tiny, tiny, about the same size as a sachet of sugar, but (almost annoyingly!) it was pretty good, the Mocha was chocolaty and the Americano strong, but not sour. Shame about the size.

We came at about 1.30 on a Sunday and struggled to find a table. There was very little choice of sandwiches so we had a lemon muffin each and a pot of tea. The quality was ok but more mass produced than homemade and it was very expensive.

A lovely little spot for a brief recess from viewing the vast collection of art at the Tate or just a great spot for a cup of tea and a treat. I haven't tried the more substantial food, though it did look as though they had a good selection from which to choose.

Not a great experience. There seemed to be lots of staff, just none of them knew what they were doing. Long lines, no glasses. Really disappointing.

Ordered a cappuccino and a carrot and broccoli salad here. The salad tastes amazing. Coffee is not too bad too. There are a lot of seating space around. The only downside of this little cafe for me is the overall noise level here on a busy day.

Lovely atmosphere with the new ceiling mural. Unfortunately our two coffees were very bitter. Either the machine needs a good clean or the coffee beans are bad. We love Tate Britain but please can you have a good look at the coffee?

Tea is served in a pod and made with tea leaves, tastes great (vouching for rooibos). Also great for cream tea with scone! Note: Hosts loads of bees in summer.

Had the special Djanoglan Egg Wrap - think they were decent but certainly not the best Djanogly style egg wrap I’ve had. It was alright though

£10.95 for a microwaved tiny quiche and a small handful of salad leaves. Not good value at all. The staff are lovely, the coffee and cakes are good.

We had lunch here and then came back for cake later in the afternoon. It was a weekday and relatively quiet. We enjoyed sandwiches for lunch, and the cake was delicious. I ordered a filter coffee which at £2 is now a very reasonable price; they had run out and served me a fruit tea instead at no extra charge. You can get a free coffee if you buy a bag of their coffee. It's a delightful place with beautiful paintings on the ceiling; it's well organised and kept very clean.

Tried to get a sandwich at 11:30, but that was too early. Stayed until noon, but it wasn't worth the wait. Not likely to put Pret out of business.

We nearly got ripped off. The salad staff have no knowledge of what are they selling, and they are messed up with the portions, and they were even rude! We asked the money back! Massively overpriced too, but at least the parsnip was tasty, even though too salty! Not recommended at all!!!

really expensive for a small portion of food that was cold, and the trays werent clean. not the most patient service either. i had to ask the woman to repeat herself after asking her what food they offered since the cafe was very loud and i couldnt hear her properly, and she obviously seemed annoyed and told me to look at the menu. i wouldnt recommend, spend your money elsewhere its not worth it. and who would pay £6 for a slice of cake??? how stupid.

I guess it's always a mistake to eat at museum cafes in the afternoon. The food always seems like it's been sitting out since 11, and I wish salad mix had never been invented. Next time just grab a slice of cake and a coffee and forget the cold cheese tarts and tired slaw and mushy yam salad.

Casual cafe inside Tate Britain. Enough selection on the menu for a light meal or refreshment. Carrot cake was yummy but the coffee was a bit plain. Chairs were a bit dirty & full of stain marks.

We love Tate Britain but were disappointed with the cafe area; the chairs can only be described as grubby and the table was sticky. The food was not good, I could not eat very much and my partner had half of his. Customers were directed to the cash register before their food was ready causing confusion. Although it was lunch time and quite busy, this is an area that needs more thought and care. We shall be back in April and hope for improvement. Rachel (from Australia).

I've been here twice since 2019. The ambience is quite pleasant and comfortable. However, on each occasion a cashier (not the same one) has taken my payment, not a very small amount, without a simple thank-you. I complained to the second cashier but perhaps he didn't really understand English. Though the refreshments were fairly good value, I don't want to go there again.

Paid nearly £20 for these two sandwiches + salad (1 egg/potato salad and 1 roast beef) and 1 small Diet Coke. The sandwiches were dry and didn’t tasted fresh. I wouldn’t recommend having lunch there, nonetheless it’s still a nice place to have a cuppa while resting a little bit from a tour through the museum.

I had been before when visiting Tate Britain, and the visit had been ok if not great. On this occasion I just wanted a quick bite after a long bus journey during a Tube strike. The sandwiches on display looked awful, a poor selection and totally unappetising on spongelike white bread. And nothing at all for vegetarians. Hungry and in despair I purchased a rather small piece of coffee and walnut cake for a hefty GBP4.95, which was quite dry. After I had paid I saw some more sandwiches brought in, but again nothing that looked tasty. As before, the cafe appeared quite shabby, with debris everywhere. Only use this place when you have no other choice.

Had my lunch here after visiting an exhibition in Tate Britain. I ordered sausage roll meal, the portion is bug enough, but the food is a bit salty, so I probably drank half bottle of water to finish it. But the coffee is not bad.

Beautiful space with an outdoor terrace. The staff are absolutely lovely. Decent selection of cold food and coffees, didn't try the hot food. A great place to feed my baby daughter before heading around the gallery.

Food was good, especially the soup, but not cheap. Main bug bear was the hot food menu was hidden from view, only visible after loading up with cold stuff. Why not have the hot food menu where people can see it on the way in?

We chose a GF Ham sandwich, and beetroot + coconut wrap, both of which were all but inedible!! The coffee was 2nd rate too. At nearly £30, we would have preferred to give this money to a homeless person and gone hungry ourselves! Terrible. Plus there was only one toilet open in the whole museum! Get sort yourself out Tate (the art is second to none of course!)

We were disappointed on our visit. The cost suggested quality, possibly home made cakes and treats. But in reality the two cakes we had which cost £4.95 each were clearly not homemade and were not very nice. The coffee and walnut cake was not properly cooked in the centre so was stodgy and did not even remotely taste of coffee. In fact the icing just tasted creamy, not even like butter cream. The overall result was stodgy and sickly and certainly not worth what it cost. The scone was a good size but was very dry but was still the better of the two cakes. It was £2.95 for a bottle of coke, meaning we paid £15.80 for 2 cakes and 2 soft drinks which in my opinion was worth less than half of this. I accept that the museum uses the cafe to raise revenue and given that most visitors probably won't return l don't suppose they particularly care. But if you're on a budget, take a picnic and spend your money elsewhere.

This is a really cute cafe and has a nice variety of coffees, teas, and pastries. They also have great snacks. The price is reasonable given that it is a museum cafe in central London.

A simple but tidy cafeteria with indoor and outdoor seating.

It was expensive, £10 each for a sandwich and a drink...you need to be wealthy to take your kids there!

Expensive, not fresh, limited options

Took FOREVER to be served hot food. Only worth going here for the Tate collective discount. Food was tasty and coffee good, however it's a canteen like style system. You feel like your queuing up for your school dinners. Unpleasant space and generally depressing experience. No power points anywhere (not that you would want to stay for very long. Not enough space to sit and frankly expensive. Really poor show from an art gallery. Go to the V&A (not that it's perfect) Tate Britain and take note!

The ugliest art gallery cafe in the world serves awful coffee as well...

The quality of the food wasn't up to scratch considering how much I paid for it. The trays were fithy, you could see debri and stains all over it. Not worth your time, better food elsewhere.

Cafe. They have a nice quality of coffee, cupcakes clotted with cream. Prices for the main meals are reasonable; other dishes are not my type though.

Excellent Pie - Stopped by on spec. and was recommended by a regular to try the smoked chowder pie - excellent pastry and delicious filling. Prices for the main meals are reasonable - others a little on the pricey side. If you go for one of the main meals this is a great place to have lunch

One whistled through Whistler's Restaurant and landed in Djanogly Cafe one fine Saturday afternoon. Satiated from watching Van Gogh's masterpieces, unable to take anymore creativity for the day. And yet, there were the delectable pieces of art, right before your eyes, Colourful Red Velvet Cheesecakes & Beetroot Hummus Wraps, all inviting the palate this time. The cafe was crowded in honour of the man of course. However, it was an organised moving crowd, and oneanaged to find space at either of the three options proffered. The outdoors, location was opened up when the crowds got too thick. A poor waiter broke a glass in the ensuing melee, but promptly had the situation under control, albeit the kids running around could not be curtailed. The staff were helpful and offered you directions to the various halls when one was lost too. The ambience was warm and friendly. One could see this has been a tradition for many of their regulars, surprised at the inflow of visitors today One would recommend it for an emergency refuelling of food for the body after filling in the senses.

Good quality sandwiches, wraps, hot food and drinks and not too pricey either. Inside and outside seating. Coped extremely well with large queues of customers!

Two sandwich, two teas, two crisps.....£24.55 The sandwich was pretty poor anyway with not much filling, the yes was fine and the crisps were good, but admittedly hard to mess up. The cafe is self service, tables are hard to find and not very clean. Staff didn't seem to care much and our friends who ordered hot food, eventually gave up waiting and asked for their money back. Well, that was a problem! With perseverance they succeeded, but no grace from the staff.....very amateurish. I cannot think of a good reason to visit except that it is convenient.

We came to see the Van Gogh exhibition - started the day with good cappuccino and a flapjack returning for a fish and chip lunch. Food was good and service reasonably quick. We found a table though it was busy. It's relatively expensive but then it is London...

Get there early for lunch ..like before 12 noon.. Still crowded and noisey and had to share a table. No hot food ( soup) ..too early I suppose, Salady stuff and a drink works out at about £12 per person. Not very cheap. Bring picnic next time and eat on the embankment if the weather allows.

To recover from our over crowded time slot visit to the Van Gogh exhibition we thought a coffee and cake in peaceful surroundings would be ideal. However, beware - a hot chocolate, coffee and two traybake cakes cost us over £12 and it was so very noisy in the cafe you could hardly hold a conversation.

I can't imagine wanting to order a hot meal here, fairly chaotic and understaffed. We queued for a while just to pay for self-serve sandwiches and coffee, which weren't that cheap. Then queued again to collect the coffee. The sandwiches were ordinary which means perfectly edible but nothing special. The coffee was quite good. The seating arrangements are random, you can sit in the very uninteresting main café area (if you can find a table) or you can wander towards the Clore wing, carrying your tray, where there are tables, benches and chairs in random unused spaces and nooks under staircases etc. The spaces are mostly bright, but boring. This is in a major art gallery, why is there so little art on the walls? Reproductions would be entirely acceptable, anything to liven the place up! The café is accessible, so are the toilets, but if you need somebody to carry your tray for you you'd have to wait a while. And the ladies toilet is very dark, I've no doubt that was 'designed', it looks swish, but it's tricky for anyone with less than standard vision. It's rather sad that the hoi polloi, ie the general public, have to put up with this standard of provision while the former tea-room with beautiful murals has now been turned into a posh -and expensive - restaurant.

Coffee and cake were good but lunch was not so good. My fish and chips was average but my wife's Salmon & Spinach pie was very liquidy and both were extremely salty. Not cheap and a bit disappointing.

This a charmless place. We had lunch after an exhibition and were very disappointed. No table service and long queues. Ordering and finding a seat is chaotic and made more difficult by the lack of staff. Tables are uninviting and not cleaned after use. The place is noisy and our drinks were not only madly made but served in a tiny cup and very expensive. Bad coffee. Food is uninspiring and overpriced. AVOID

Stopped by today after visiting the Don Mccullin exhibition which was outstanding. After spending 2.5 hours plus at the exhibition felt in need of a little sustainance but having looked at the food on offer, sandwiches , soups a couple of hot dishes , all ambitiously priced I decided against. The food looked OK but not interesting and the space in my view offers neither comfort or atmosphere.Something curiously old fashioned , and not in a good way, about it. Most of the major museums have very good eating options, Tate Modern, V and A etc come to mind but there was something really unappealing about this location

The cafe setting was in the basement so there was little natural light. However, we went on a dismal wet February day. The food was impressive for a cafeteria style museum cafe. We had afternoon tea with sweets and were happy. Prices were a bit high, but we expected that. Recommend.

Very overpriced, very small portions and indifferent service

I don't understand why reviews are not more complimentary. We had nice coffee and fresh pastries efficiently served. The space does not have the panache of other London galleries perhaps but clean, with toilets and coat check nearby, perfect for your arrival drink snacks or lunch. The Tate is a treasure!

Coffee is excellent but the food was a let down, at £30 for two for a fairly basic canteen style lunch I’d say just grab a coffee and get a better value lunch somewhere else.

They have got some fantastic Jade Dragon tea and kept me topped up for 2 hours I loved it and at the same time it is an interesting setting. Super facilities and also one of the world's great Art Galleries!!!

vanaf 12.00u is de warme keuken open. Zeker de moeite waard. een heerlijke zalm-spinazie-pie. Versierd op een bord op een bodem van spinazie a la crème en bekroond met een gepocheerd ei, waaroverheen de sauce hollandaise. Aan de vulling van zalm met spinazie is ook een beetje curry toegevoegd. En hierbij dan ook nog heerlijk buiten zitten, is een pauze van het museumbezoek echt verdiend.

Vine aquí para un almuerzo rápido en un sábado (19/05 / 18). El café está en el sótano. Se veía limpio, bonito y ligero. Pedí una pasta Toscana pollo y bizcocho. La pasta de la Toscana el pollo sabía bien, la salsa era rica y sabrosa, pero la pasta era poco hecha y se sirve frío. La tarta era normal como esponja Victoria sabía exactamente lo que había encontrado en ningún sitio.

Tuvimos tiempo para una exposición (en Londres) en impresionistas la Tate Britain y un almuerzo rápido antes de hacer nuestra escapada.

We had morning coffee which was of good quality. The room is simple, uncluttered and spacious. Unlike many coffee shops at this time of day it was nicely quiet.

El estilo de servicio de cafetería y el entorno es simple y funcional. son Este es un lugar práctico para recuperar energía, pero sigo sin que por eso que muchos de estos lugares sirven scones de mala calidad. No son muy difíciles de hacer! También me pregunto por qué el té es a menudo tan débil - es esta la manera como el británico estos días? Solíamos pensar de Gran Bretaña como un lugar donde es tomado en serio, pero que parece estar en declive.

Pleasant cafe at the Tate Britain with good food and drink and reasonable prices. Seating is very basic, nothing pretty or special, but a fine place for a break or lunch away from the galleries.

Nothing special about this place although the standard is OK. We had coffee and cake and it was OK, rather what you might expect at a museum or National Trust place.

Po prohlídce galerie můžete posedět u kávy v kavárně, do kteér je přístup i z ulice. Ochotný personál vás rychle obslouží u pultu. Vyberete si dort a kávu či čaj vám udělají na počkání.

I had a "hot meal" there today, beef stroganoff,. It was tepid, very salty and the beef was dry and occasionally tough. The Vegetables were rice (with wild rice) which was ok, broccoli and carrots which were both barely shown any heat and therefore very crunchy. I do think the management ought to regularly check what they serve. I cannot believe that they do. I did not complain at the time as I was with a firend who bought my meal and didn't want to embarrass her.

This was truly shocking and an embarassment to think that people visiting an important attraction in our capital city are served with this.After a very lengthy queue at the hot food counter i bought a quich salad. More than 50% of the salad leaves were actually rotten and the quiche far from being hot was actually still partially frozen and utterly tasteless. It was quite honestly revolting.

Djanogly Cafe se trouve au sous-sol du Musée Tate Britain. Idéal pour une petite pause déjeuner avec une longue et intense visite du Musée. Sandwich, petits gateaux ou plats cuisinés anglais (!!!) ou plus simplement un petit thé ou café.Endroit agréable pour une restauration rapide.

After roaming around in Tate Britain with focus on the Turner collection and the pre-Rapahelites, we needed a well-deserved rest and some food. Djanogly is the right pace if you don't want to go to the expensive in-house restaurant. Service is nice, the offer of cooked food, sandwhiches, pastry, etc. and beverages is satisfactory and the space is nice and well kept-up.

Suppose you never get a really outstanding cafe in an art gallery, and it's bound to be overpriced. Rather clinical surroundings - wouldn't those too-white walls be a wonderful showcase for artists?

The food was too expensive (I had ham sandwich - £4.95) and average. The attractive venue does not make up for it.
