Brilliant pub and Jordan and Stef behind the bar made everyone’s night much nicer - very charismatic pairing and great attitudes

If you enjoy English pubs with a back story, you won't be disappointed with The Star Tavern! The walk through the Belgravia Mews to find it was also a highlight. We only stopped in for a quick drink but it exudes atmosphere. 🍷🍸🍺♥️

The Star Tavern is an award-winning, traditional London pub, just off Sloane Street with its trendy boutiques and a short walk from the luxury British department store Harvey Nichols. The Star Tavern is part of the Fuller's Pubs & Hotels Group, which has been in business since 1845. The Evening Standard's 'Pub of the Year' title was awarded to the Star Tavern in 1992. The pub has a wide menu with seasonal ingredients, in addition to the classics, it also offers pan-roasted salmon and crab & crayfish salad. I had lunch there recently and ordered pan-roasted salmon with buttered new potatoes, peas, mint & balsamic reduction for £24.00. I also treated myself to a British lemon curd pudding served with raspberry sorbet and meringue. My pan-roasted Scottish salmon was a delightful dish, full of flavour, moist and tender. Minted peas was a delightful side dish that pairs perfectly with fish. The subtle mint flavor doesn’t overpower the peas but adds a refreshing layer. New potatoes, had a creamy texture and a buttery taste that complemented the dish well. Overall, it was a satisfying meal with a balance of flavors that worked well together. To drink, I ordered Aperol Spritz, the perfect cocktail for the summer season, it is light, refreshing and sparkling. The cocktail has a slightly bitter taste, with an orange-herbal sweetness. The pub offers a cozy and laid-back atmosphere without loud music, perfect for good conversation. The Star Tavern offers function rooms, with nice decor including fireplaces, perfect for weddings, birthdays or business meetings. Overall, my dining experience was great and I would recommend it to anyone craving traditional British food!

Very convivial private lunch party invited to join by the regular suspects. Haven't had a decent roast in ages....

Do not give your money to these arrogant and offensive people. I heard one of the female service staff members being negative about me to the kitchen staff after I had politely paid for an afternoon lunch. She did not realise that I had gone upstairs to sit and that I could hear what she was saying about me. Despicable arrogance and offensiveness. They give Fullers, Smith and Turner a bad name.

Cool superior place, typical English. It maintains its charm and there is a variety of beers and something to snack on. TV on the upper floor and music.

This is where the Great Train Robbery was planned and the charming atmosphere was fantastic. Good steak and ale pie, perfect with a pint.

Absolutely loved this pub. Beautiful atmosphere, delicious beer (I had ESB) and the service was a delight. This barman named Brad was very friendly and told us about the history of the pub and gave us good recommendations for beer as well as other places to visit nearby. Would love to come back.

A great neighborhood pub out of the crowded noisy areas. Definitely not a tourist trap. Real neighborhood vibes. People brought their dogs into the pub. Great menu with large beer selection. Belgravia is a very pretty area and close to Buckingham Palce and Hyde park but not over run by crowds.

Sunday roast very good with generous portion but quite long service. Very nice setting (room upstairs). We didn't expect a pub like this in the area! Very nice surprise 🙂

Sunday roast and a pint. What more do you need

lucky to have stumbled upon this place. small town pub feel with a decent looking menu. I wasn't overly hungry but had the kale salad which was tasty and felt like the healthiest meal I've had on the trip. also tried the burger which was tasty as well. a good spot for lunch if you're out around that area.

A bit out of the way, but worth the visit. Lots of history in a very classic English pub. Beer selection good both on cask and draft. Didn’t tey the food. But the menu had English pub classics.

The Star Tavern is a beautiful little pub located down a mews in Belgavia - not quite as hidden as the Grenadier, but on a similar little street. The interior is not quite as cozy as the exterior would make you think, but it's still quite nice. My family and I visited for dinner and we were very pleased with the menu and the food. Our server recommended the chicken roasted in garlic and butter, which was delicious. My kids had fish & chips, which was massive and perfectly cooked, as were the chips. The one dish we didn't care for was the Welsh rarebit - the bread was mushy and the sauce was very heavy on the mustard. So skip that and enjoy the rest of the menu! Great place to stop into for a pint, as well.

Surely one of London’s nicest pubs, in a quiet corner of Begravia. A cosy, attractive antique pub that - extra gold stars - doesn’t bombard customers with canned music. Great food - we enjoyed the fish and chips and smoked salmon. Highly recommended.

The bartenders were so nice and welcoming. Beer and cider were delicious and the good was great!

On route to The Albert Hall. The history of the pub like so many in the area was interesting, unfortunately the food was most definitely not. The marmite roast potatoes were pretty vile, not a roast potato at all, more like a slippery, anemic boiled potato prepared last week and shown the microwave . The other food we had was mediocre at best. Stop for a drink by all means but eat elsewhere

Lots of promise. A fantastic history. A great location. Food was terrible. My recommendation is to have a quick drink to soak up the atmosphere, if there is any, then head elsewhere for food. Some interesting ideas on the menus but poorly executed. Sorry but it’s the truth.

Great food at reasonable prices.

We went on the offchance to get a Sunday lunch - and so glad we did! The service was excellent and very friendly. The roast pork was juicy (and the crackling just right!) with roast parsnips, carrots, cabbage (cooked just right - ie not overcooked!), cauliflower cheese and roast potatoes. Delicious home made gravy - we should have asked for more! My daughter who is not a vegetarian went for the butternut squash wellington - which she was really impressed with- and my brother had a lovely roast beef (pink) which being over from the USA he was really pleased with as he misses his roasts! Hubby and brother also treated themselves to the black pudding scotch egg :) So a very successful visit - many many thanks x

Fantastic traditional pub, tucked away off Belgrave Square. Usually has an interesting guest beer or two on.

What an awesome hidden little spot in central London. Provided a piece of normal off the beaten tourist trail. Being a Fullers you get a certain standard and this didn't disappoint, food was great, staff were great (friendly and attentive) - we really enjoyed our visit.

The most overrated pub ever. Didn't even managed to get to the bar. Two members of staff sat down. A group of 10 of us arrived and we were greeted with rolling eyes and a loud sigh. I asked if they were still serving and all I got back was a sarcastic "Yes, I can close if you like" Couldn't believe how rude they were and decided to leave immediately Service: 1/5 Atmosphere: 1/5 So called the manager could do with a good scrub. Not presentable, unprofessional it's shame in such lovey aera. Avoid ,lots of much better pubs in Belgravia!

A great roast dinner accompanied by friendly staff. Good portions for the price. Undoubtably one of the best in the area.

I worked here as a young man in 1980, and had a wonderful life educating experience.

Loved the location. In a not so busy residential street. Beautiful on the outside at nighttime. Cosy and welcoming on the inside. Excellent service, who didn’t rush on ordering and helped out with any questions or recommendations. Food was excellent! Had bangers and mash, on special. Friend had the fish and chips, and the chips were properly extra crispy! Definitely would like to visit again soon.

Sadly this visit was not great. Ok it was lunchtime and they should not be surprised to have business but delighted. Ok 17 folk walk in before us but the two bar staff worked hard to try to deal with lots of food and drink orders all at once. The kitchen seemed overwhelmed with waits of nearly an hour for something simple off the menu. Bar service could be improved with somebody bringing out and serving the meals and not the two over worked bar staff. Fullers London Pride at £5.30 a pint was ok but taste and cellar not as good as the beautiful cellared London Pride in The Three Kings at Hammersmith at £4.80. However once the food arrived the Beef & Ale Pie to share (£35.00) was described as Stunning, Wonderful and Outstanding. Just such a shame it took so long to arrive. Sadly the sandwiches were very disappointing to the point a complaint was sent to the kitchen. Oh well it's Pot Luck but should not be. Many did not order food due to delay and a number left for another pub. Disappointing as we know the pub and returned as we had a good experiences here over time. No reason not to go back. TIP: try to avoid peak lunchtime.

My wife and I dropped in for fish & Chips which were excellent the guy that served us was very friendly and the pint of ESB was superb,relaxed atmosphere.thoroughly enjoyable experience Thanks

Really nice pub. Warm cosy atmosphere. Can get very busy, quite a few tables reserved. Ok choice of drinks at usual London prices. Service was ok.

Only wish it is slightly quieter. Food is amazing. You wouldn't be disappointed at any of its dishes you choose. They are all amazing.

They let people to reserve tables where people are already sitting and bring a slip of paper to the table telling that your table is actually reserved to someone else and ask you to clear the table. Has happened to me twice in the last two weeks. Not coming again.

Beautiful facade, quaint & warm interior. The food was fantastic as was Lee’s service. We shared pigs in a blanket, London Porter smoked salmon & the Sunday roast. The perfect combination of fresh, rich, comfort food without the heaviness. Love the history of this place. Highly recommend.

Found this tavern on Atlast Obsura, whose sites are places that my wife and I prefer to visit as opposed to many tourist traps. Here for dinner before heading out to the theatre for our second performance in as many days. We started with drinks, and then attacked our starters and entrees. Marmite Potatoes, Cheddar Rarebit, a Cheese Burger, Black Scotch Eggs and Squash Wellington. Our server was attentive and ended up giving my wife and I a list of places we had to visit in Dingle, Ireland, her hometown, where we were headed in a few days. Very historic, comfortable and busy the entire time we were there.

Cosy, quiet and authentic pub a little further from the busy Harrods. Fish and chips are delicious, especially with a beer!

Disappointing - they weren't serving 2/3 dishes on the menu, staff were friendly but inexperienced, they'd not bothered to light the fire and the main lights were on full brightness killing any atmosphere. Oh and £7.80 a pint. Won't be going back!

Went here for lunch and the positives were that the welcome was warm and the staff were friendly and the service was good, unfortunately the food was very disappointing and mediocre and not worth the money so would not wish to return when they are far better places to dine out.

Atrocious standard of food. £9.50 for a rarebit which was one slice of floppy bread with grilled cheese on top. Pigs in blankets looked anameic, probably microwaved sausages. And a small bowl of packet bought frozen chips. Just really poor all round

Lovely traditional pub in cute mews. We pre booked for 3 friends weeks in advance. When we arrived, at 3pm, all was lovely. Fire blazing and food looked good. However when we ordered pur Sunday roast, upon ordering we were told casually that they had 'run out of potatoes.' Now, there is a Waitrose across the road. And roast spuds are crucial to a Sunday roast. But no, they had 'run out...' We were very disappointed. One of us opted for fish & chips. However, the food we did get was pretty good. The wines were also good. One thing - we had to ask for a jug of water 5 times. We never got it. Staff need to be more attentive. All staff were pleasant, nonetheless. Recommended but bring your own water and roasties.

Nice traditional bar tucked in the Belgravia mews. We were sat near the fire place. We were a bit unlucky perhaps, food took almost an hour to arrive. Owner claimed that they have an event upstairs. We were not informed beforehand. Food was great, traditional pub food with a refreshing twist.

Was a little nervous after we walked in and nobody greeted us. We had a reservation and eventually got a chance to ask the bartender for assistance. He apologized and noted how crazy it was that night. Fortunately once we got past that roadblock, the experience was excellent. Great beer and we really enjoyed the pie for two. The staff ended up being very friendly once it settled down a bit.

Fantastic Sunday roast! Pictures are a beef/pork combo roast and some pigs in blankets. The beef was served medium rare, and the pork had crispy crackling. The gravy was top notch and complimented the roast veggies well. They ran out of cauliflower cheese, but bulked up the rest of the meal with other veggies. The Yorkshire pudding was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The vibes of the pub were cute and classic, there was a cool print of olden day London. The service was top notch, the people were friendly and informative. Highly recommend, might be one of my favourite roasts I’ve had this year

The Star Tavern is my new favourite London pub. It is tucked out of the way and so is not so widely known about, making it quiet by default. It is also far away from the deluge of tourists found nearby that make the main pubs in Knightsbridge and Kensington unbearable to visit if you just want a quiet lunch or a few pints of an evening. The staff at the Star are very friendly and you always feel welcomed by them as if you've been a regular punter there for years already - they do a fantastic job. The food is lovely and reasonably priced, although a few more options on the menu would be most welcomed! Lastly, the pub itself is wonderful with a very traditional English décor and relaxing seating spaces upstairs and down. I definitely reccomend the Star Tavern.

A highly anticipated pub, which sits in a great part of London. Had a quaffable pint of ESB at a not particularly busy part of the day, but the pub had great character. Unfortunately, just missed Fuller’s Vintage Ale on tap, however, can’t hold that against this great pub.

Really good Belgravia pub - there are a few around here, this one is worth your time. Also ESB on draft.

Fantastic pub, I didn't eat but they do food. Beer was very well kept. The venue was beautiful and the staff fantastic, friendly, helpful and chatty.

Visited as part of a work-related event and found the range of drinks and food quality very good. The only slight drawback was that some of the dishes on the menu must have been so popular, they had sold out! Pretty friendly and attentive service for the capital city.

Nice pub. Friendly staff and good beer. My only gripe is we were told we weren’t allowed to take our drinks outside the front of the pub which was a shame as it was a sunny day.

Lovely pub who tried to help me with the most recent edition of the CAMRA good beer guide which sadly they didn't have. In the end who cares. They have great beer and you could potentially meet an embassador or famous person. Love this pub it has a deserved position in the sacred 5 of CAMRA good beer guide pubs who have been there since the start.
