My favourite pub in London. Traditional no frills boozer tucked away in an alley off Pall Mall. Oozing character and charm with an eclectic clientele. Be careful of the 'death stairs' on the way to the gents!

One of the worst experiences in a pub here in London. I live on St. James Square and won’t ever go back to this establishment as a result of how I was treated and the rudeness of the two staff members we had the encounter with. I liked this place for years but the current staff really crossed the line.

I love this pub, a traditional London boozer hidden down an alley in St James. Unfortunately the service, on this recent occasion, was not great. Requested a small wine, was told they didn't serve "small", although small measures were clearly visible. After a short discussion I was served a small but charged for a medium. All done in an incredibly bad tempered way. Hoping this is a one off. Note: offering a small 125ml is a legal requirement not an exceptional request

This pub is not for you if you’re averse to funding bigotry and cruelty. My family visited here and now one of our indelible London memories will be this bartender making multiple homophobic slurs at a member of our family who was in no way provoking it. Then, gently given the opportunity to walk it back, he doubled down. Shame on Red Lion for tolerating, thereby implicitly endorsing, this behaviour.

Restaurant to avoid, we were well received by an employee the first time, he gave us water in a carafe. The second time, a very unpleasant welcome from the boss who told us that he did not have a carafe of water. He offered us beer, which was not on the menu. He went to get a bottle from the nearby Italian restaurant, and gave it to us without a glass. We were sick following, We noticed the dirt in the premises, particularly the toilets, during our second visit.
