Great pub something for everyone, good beer price, selection of sports on all TV's. One thing I don't like is vaping is allowed inside.

Not been here for years, so decided to give it a try for Sunday Lunch. WOW, fantastic from start to finish. Service was superb! Food was perfect! We each had a Sunday roast, lamb, chicken and nut roast, all delicious. Staff were so attentive which makes a real difference nowadays. Didn't realise it had changed hands recently. Do not change anything! Highly recommended. We'll definitely be back!!

Consistently excellent. The roast dinners are exceptional value. I just had half a chicken, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, parsnips, carrots, green and red cabbage, and cauliflower cheese as standard for £16.50. Attentive, friendly staff. Great beers on tap. Came in as quiet group for a lunchtime drink. When we came in there was no staff at the bar so we walked into the restaurant where a white haired old lady asked if we were eating. When we replied no she told us off for being in the restaurant and ordered use back to the bar. When there I ordered a coke and asked for a food menu where she rudely asked "what for?". Old question when you thought about getting food The coke treated older and flat which just rounded the unpleasant experience. Umm colleagues felt there same and we had none nothing for her ride treatment. Maybe this use a locals only pub and no one else is welcome

Really friendly welcoming pub with nice cosy atmosphere. Beer in good condition too. I was here for a Sunday roast which was very good. Generous portion of lamb with plenty of veg. My only comment would be as it was served in a bowl, rather than a plate, everything was rather drowned in too much gravy. I would suggest ease off with that and it would be perfect.

Lunch with old friends almost didn't happen, after floods made access difficult. However, after a six mile detour we made it ( only five minutes late!) The welcome was as friendly as ever, and the food was just spot on. My wife had the small portion of lasagna - which wasn't small at all, and I had one of the nicest steak and stilton pies I've had the pleasure of sampling. The service was efficient, there was a contented buzz of conversation among the customers, and the pub was lovely and warm on a cold January day.

Once again The Star deserves praise. Praise for the lovely trout I had today; perfectly cooked and my wife's moussaka got the thumbs up too. Our two guests were equally impressed, not least by the fact that this pub isn't part of some anonymous chain so deserves our support through these challenging times. Medieval pub with reasonable choice of food between Greek and traditional English but unfortunately no local ales. Very busy so you have to book, we found it cramped and not very comfortable and certainly aimed at the restaurant business rather than a comfortable drinking establishment. We chose a couple of English dishes the seabass was very good but my wife’s sausage and mash was nothing special at £13.50 as one would have expected the sausages to be from a local butcher rather than a wholesaler. The staff are mostly friendly and helpful so the place is worth a visit.

The Star Inn is easy to find in the centre of Rusper. It has its own large car park. The team were welcoming and quick to settle us at a table for lunch. The menu, also online, had plenty of choice and a smaller portion option. We had a sirloin steak and a haddock and leek bake served with salad and a baguette which had been freshly oven cooked. Ever since the late 15th century, this building has stood on its corner, its windows surveying every person and vehicle who passes through the village. It's an amazing place, unspoilt, although it is clear from the notches in the ceiling beams that it was once divided up into much smaller rooms. At one side of the huge fireplace are the little doors to what was once a priest's hole, and the landlord said that there had once been a one-mile tunnel leading from it to the local nunnery, now sadly defunct.

It is ages since we visited the Star in Rusper but thought we would give it another shot. The pub is very old and rustic with a good overall atmosphere. Costas, the landlord offers both Greek and English pub cuisine. We opted for two dishes from the Greek menu and both were quite delicious. We also took our dog there which was not a problem and we noticed several dogs there inside the pub so the Star can definitely be described as 'dog friendly.' I was particularly impressed by the young lady who served us with both food and drinks, she was extremely helpful and polite, alert and efficient, which added to our enjoyment of the evening. Our last experience at the Star in Rusper a couple of years ago was not that good so we did not return until last week. I am happy that we did and we shall definitely return there again soon.

Between us we enjoyed the calves liver, stiffado (Greek beef stew), smoked haddock fishcakes and the chicken and ham pie, followed by a variety of puddings. After debating which of two pubs in Rusper village we should go to, we picked the Star. If I'm honest, when we first went in my heart sank a little and I had a nasty feeling we had made the wrong choice. I can't really put my finger on why, just gut instinct. I'm very pleased to say I was WRONG. We both love Greek food and on the basis the landlord of the Star is Greek and must know what he's doing, we both chose moussaka, it was excellent and as good as any we've ever had on numerous holidays in Greece and Cyprus. For dessert hubby chose ice cream while I couldn't resist the apple and rhubarb crumble, which was huuuge, my husband had to help me out and we still left some. It was delicious. We will both definitely return if we're in the area.

6 of us lunched here recently on a Sunday. The pub is nicely located in the village with plenty of parking. It's a characterful place with loads of beams and has not been spoiled by a modern refurb. A decent selection of real ales is available.

Scruffy interior - not clean. We ordered lunch and sat outside. Was given a box of cutlery condiments with various sauces to carry to our table outside. , the dispenser lid of the mustard was black with ancient sticky dried on mustard and dirt. i told the one member of staff who apologised, took it away, threw it in the bin behind the bar, but did not replace . No salt or pepper. Waited nearly an hour to be served.. food was dumped on our table with no apology. My sea bass was served swimming in oil. No waiting on tables ourside so not easy to complain after such a long wait. Moved inside as we were cold and asked for a coffee - the same one member of staff who was behind the bar as well as serving food, looked shocked and seemed nervous of such a request but agreed to try to make us one coffee and one tea but then came to our table o say she couldn't work the machine - so no hot drinks!! We left and will not be returning.i regretted paying up front for such a poorly cooked and presented and delayed lunch.

We have often passed this attractive looking pub but this time decided to stop for a late lunch. We were warmly greeted and shown a nice table by a window. The decor is very stylish, creating a good atmosphere. Our drinks order was taken and delivered promptly, as was our meal order. M had beef and ale pie and I had grilled chicken served with pappardelle and a creamy sauce. I love pasta and this was a delicious dish. M declared the pie to be first rate. We were going to be good and resist pudding but succumbed to a mini dessert with coffee - caramelised profiteroles. A perfect round off to an excellent meal. We will be back.
