Four is us booked and went to the Stanton Arms for Sunday lunch today. What a tremendous experience. The two ladies both had a turkey diner. Allan had lamb and I had beef. The vegetables were runner beans, cauliflower cheese, red cabbage and a diced carrot mix, just gorgeous. Our desserts were sticky toffee pudding with ice cream and Bakewell tart and custard. Every plate was clear and we all loved our meal. Including a glass of red wine, two pints and a tonic the whole bill came to £121.00 The whole experience was fantastic, we loved it. We will certainly be back.

This was our first visit to The Stanton and we will be back! We all opted for the roast lunch - lamb, pork and beef all cooked to perfection and sides, plentiful and delicious. We were so full, but we couldn’t resist and ended up sharing puddings - they were fabulous too! If you have an opportunity to visit The Stanton, please do. It’s a gorgeous location and the menu is delicious!

Fantastic food - as ever. Called in whilst out on our bikes and had a couple of great starters (my trio of fish was delicious) and two roasts. Ordinarily you don't get enough vegetables at some places, but this was perfect, cooked properly and good portion sizes. Only down side was that we were too full for desert!

Well what can I say, What a fantastic experience we had at the Stanton Arms. From the minute we arrived, the owners, bar staff and waiters were so hospitable especially with a group size of 20 and made sure we were looked after for the duration of our afternoon. Not only was the food was second to none, the staff even went the extra mile and took us to the shop as we were in need of a couple of bits for the rest of our stay In Shropshire. The roast dinner was brilliant and they had a great selection of wines ales and beers. We will surely be back!

I don’t usually take the time to write reviews but this place is so deserving. I had a lamb roast today and it was by far the best lamb roast I’ve ever eaten. The quality, taste and value for money is just superb.

The beef burger was absolutely unreal. Colin is a legend and the bar maid Faye was super duper! Definitely going to return!

Only had a drink but it was in very nice surroundings. Also bought a jar of marmalade so beer and home produced stuff what's not to like.

Went for Sunday lunch 8 in the party ,absolutely lovely meal the roast beef was tender cooked to perfection, we have booked to go again, compliments to the chef and to all the waiting on staff ,

Poor choice following a poor recommendation. Service was fine fm bar & waiting on, however, the food was far from it. Sea Bass very bland, not a broth as described & insufficient thai flavours; pork was reasonable but the 2 insipid roast pots and cost effective display of veg let it down. The £7.50 cheeseboard was an insult; please clean the 'sticky' table. After our feedback of main meal & refusal to pay for cheeseboard no one came to spk despite owners being in & serving. Engagement would hav made huge difference & prevented this review & it was Thurs night & quiet so no excuse! So disappointed but u seem to be trying to be something ur not. Sadly Never again! 😪

Booked last minute on Thursday 26th for 4 of us for our last nights meal whilst on holiday, gutted we didn’t find it earlier. The food was cooked to perfection, the steak that 3 of us had was the best I think we have ever had, the service was really good as well.

We booked a table for 6 for dinner. The pub is tucked away in a quiet village. It's worth the drive. I recommend booking as this is a popular place with local residents. The food was amazing, lovingly prepared and delicious.

A great local country pub which serves well made meals and excellent ales, a real heart of the village. Just had a great night in the Stanton arms. Lovely staff and amazing food. We live in Shawbury, but this pub has fast become a bit of a local for us. The food choices are limited...but that is brilliant, as the food you have here is totally home.cooked from the heart. Seriously a hidden gem

As my wife so accurately put it, "... this is not your average country pub!". The staff are really friendly and the food was served quickly on piping hot dishes. My wife had and really enjoyed the burger. I rarely risk a curry in a pub as they are generally bland and pretty awful. I had the Jamaican lamb curry and it was delicious with loads of beautifully seasoned, non-fatty meat. Unfortunately we live a 100 miles away but I'm thinking of moving to be nearer! Well worth a trip into the lovely countryside, but be sure to phone up first to check they have room for you!

We booked a table for a group of 16 on a Saturday night as we had booked a local holiday house for the weekend. Great service from Catherine who arrnaged our pre-orders on a speically adapted menu at my request. We arrived to be seated on 2 long tables together which was perfect for our group. The staff happily catered for 2 late addtions to our party. Service was swift. Food was fine - nothing to shout about but no complaints and served fresh/hot despite such a large group. The decor is basic and the pub traditional rather than modern if you are looking for good service and good value in a friendly atmosphere then this fits the bill.

Last December, we had the most delicious celebratory meal here. On the back of that, we booked here for a celebratory Easter Sunday lunch. Both starters of smoked salmon, crayfish and calamari were so disappointing: - smoked salmon and crayfish were ridiculously dry. My husband chose the duo of lamb.the cutlets were undercooked and the slow cooked duck was overcooked.. a total disappointment. My second starter of crispy duck with watermelon was also disappointing.. No-one came to ask if we were happy with our meal whilst we were at the table until we went to the bar to pay. I hate writing negative reviews but we were so dreadfully disappointed that we felt that we had to let the pub/restaurant know that our meals were simply not good enough. Regrettably we cannot envisage returning. With huge disappointment

Loved the place, well kept real ale on sale. Very clean place in a lovely area.busy and welcoming. Food we had was excellent, however only fries severed with steak and not thick chips ? .

I was reluctant to write a review as I, selfishly, do not want anyone to know about this place...we had difficulty getting a reservation.... What a find! The Stanton arms is a family run pub/restaurant in a beautiful country village. Apparently the chef, Colin, has been here for 16 years....and what a chef! We arrived early on a Saturday evening, the bar was full of locals enjoying a few drinks and a chat...lovely atmosphere. There were four of us and we enjoyed three courses of superbly cooked and presented food. My lamb was to die for and our friends calamari starter was the best he had ever had. I personally could not find fault. My friend would have liked some bread with their soup (perhaps she should have asked) and she would have preferred chunky chips with her steak (not a fan of thin cut fries, but that is personal taste). We had three courses each, 3 pints of superbly kept HPA real ale, 5 pints of soft drinks, a bottle of wine and two coffees....£163.00...very good value. Service was good and (very important) the toilets were spotlessly clean. This was probably one of the best meals I have ever had....I cannot recommend it enough.

We had a Christmas meal at the Stanton Arms shortly before Christmas day and I have to say that it was a lovely meal. Starters were delicious as was the following turkey main meal, there was a wide choice for afters too all of which were equally tempting. All in all a very good experience which I would recommend.

We organised a family Sunday lunch to wrap up a weekend get together for family members from all parts of U.K. This is becoming a regular event every August and yet again we had a fabulous lunch, everyone was delighted again with choice and selection of well cooked vegetables that came. Then the sweets what a joy for a small restaurant. One of the party this year was a veggie and did not fancy choice on menu so a mushroom pasta dish was provided with vegan cheese - well done! Service was excellent in this family run Pub - will be back again .

This restaurant was recommended by friends and we were not disappointed. Beautifully simple menu executed with style. Food was absolutely amazing, relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff. Colin the chef/owner was.attentive and friendly coming out to make.sure our experience was just right. We will be regular guests and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this super country pub restaurant.

As usual Colin’s menu has plenty of choice and you know the quality will be great. The ham hock Scotch eggs were to die for, absolutely perfect and my bbq ribs very jolly nice too. The slow roast lamb and the beef roast were just devine. Sticky toffee pudding and brioche bread and butter puddings topped off a fantastic lunch... as always the beer is just right. Colin, Cathrine and the team always make you feel extremely welcome and nothing is ever to much trouble.... thanks for making Father’s Day special. Bring on the annual beer festival mid September......

The food is always excellent here. Sometimes it is gobsmackingly good - as with a Mexican Night last night. The crab with avocado and lime tortilla were Wow. Deserves it’s Trip Advisor rating.

It is a very good pub, the food is perhaps a little expensive but it is very good,. The land lady and landlord are extremely helpful. The beer is also very good.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday dinner today. The homemade roast dinners were extremely tasty and they went above and beyond to cater for us. Our little girl enjoyed it too! Beef and pork were both cooked to perfection, and the added extras such as cauliflower cheese and red cabbage made it for us. The crumble and sticky toffee pudding were to die for, and we definitely left full! Would recommend to everyone, and will be back very soon!

Very nice and friendly place, food is very good.

We were a walking group of 14 people.We all had the Sunday roast ,The choice was Beef,Lamb or pork. A few of us had the beef ,we were told that it was rare and it was delicious and plenty of it.On the plate was the meat roast potatoes new potato and gravy.The vegetables came in dishes ,cauliflower cheese,green beans ,carrots, and parsnip and potato mash. Everyone enjoyed their meals .No complaints at all,that is very unusual for a large group.A few had a pudding and quite a few had coffee.All the staff were very friendly and nothing was to much trouble.All of us would visit again.A big pat on the back to the Stanton Arms.

A party of us had Sunday lunch here today. The food was delicious and plenty of it. The meat was cooked to perfection and the vegetable selection was superb. The staff were efficient and professional. A thoroughly great lunch.

Simply the Best Roast Beef I have ever had. Perfectly cooked, very generous portion and so many vegetables too. If the Stanton arms wasn't 200miles from our home I'd be booking in every Sunday!

We eat here more than anywhere, and with good reason. Whilst it is a friendly village pub free of pretension the food is of an entirely different order. All of the menu items will be excellent with some providing some very interesting and hugely enjoyable flavour combinations. The best pub food in the area and very much better than some of the much heralded competition. You should go.

amazing food and hospitality 10/10

This is a great Village bar and restaurant. Hand cut Rib eye steak and trimmings, wonderful quality! Other meal was a lamb curry with West Indian spices, best I have ever had!
